My wife and I stopped in for breakfast one morning while in town. The food and drinks were fine. They were good, but nothing that stood out to me. I've come here to do work a handful of times. What's great is that you don't have to worry about metered parking, unlike other areas in the North Shore where you risk getting a ticket for going over 2 hours (looking at you, Winnetka) and therefore can't do work in peace. I wish they'd serve "for here" drinks in ceramic mugs like other independent coffee shops to reduce waste/ single use cups. In case you didn't know, most paper cups aren't recyclable because the inside is coated in polyethylene, a plastic resin. A big plus though is their involvement with the local community. Currently, they carry special items like notecards and tea towels from Arts of Life, a nonprofit that provides support for artists with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Wah wah, wanted to like this place but was not what I was hoping for. We frequented their last location but things have taken a turn for the worse. 1. We went in around 10:45 and there was not one table available. That's good news for owners but not such good news for patrons. Fortunately there were countertop seats. 2. My latte and my husband's espresso were in to go paper cups. We don't like that for a couple reasons and I don't understand why cafes do this. It's a simple ask, "are you taking this to go or staying here?" 3. We picked up our drinks at the pick up area and I asked if she made my latte with sugar free syrup as I had requested. She had not. Bad if I was sugar sensitive and NEEDED sugar free. Also bad because now my husband was long done with his espresso while I waited for my latte to be re-made sugar free. Also, upon ordering, I requested "less sweet", well, it was hardly sweet at all, can't be certain that she put in any sugar free vanilla syrup. All may sound petty. Average, at best. The poor quality espresso shots are probably fine when they're masked by milk and sugar, but on their own they are not very good. My americano today tastes over extracted or like they're using old beans, and had no crema. (Full disclosure - it's half caff and many coffee shops use very old decaf beans, not saying they do here but it could be a contributor to the subpar flavor of the coffee.) On other occasions I've ordered food and it's been... again, average. I ordered oatmeal once with almonds, cinnamon, and honey, and got oatmeal with bananas, blueberries, and chia seeds. Took it to go so I couldn't go back and get what I ordered, unfortunately. The avocado toast is overwhelmed by a strong garlic flavor, it kind of takes over the whole thing. On several occasions there seemed to be some dysfunction behind the counter. Employees yelling to each other, confusion about orders, etc. So, because this location is convenient and because I don't want to support a lot of corporate chains, I come here on occasion. I really wish there were a better option for good coffee in the area. They seem to be doing well, though, so they must be doing something right? Some places/business are like hidden gems. I live close by and didn't even know that this place existed until one of my friend took us there. Local, family wonder nice little sweet spot. Crowded when I first walked in and I guess that's how it is there. They have food, coffe specials, smoothies, bakery, ice cream what not little bit of everything for every one. And yeah you won't miss in protein if you are looking for one of those in your drinks. This place has a really nice vibe to it so you can sit back and relax while you enjoy your drink or chat with your friends or even get your work done. Staff is friendly and the other plus is you don't have to wait too long for your order to come in. Parking is little bit tricky though at times. Great alternative if you don't like chains. They have lots of different coffee items you can't find it anywhere else. They also have something called a healing latte which I am in love with. In addition they also have food and gelato. They just opened indoors again and have a drive-through as well. One of my favorite things to eat there is avocado toast. The owner is so nice and friendly. I am a regular here. It's the best coffee shop on the North Shore. When you come into the drive thru it at 9:00 am your sitting in your car for 45 mins because people don't pay attention and they are too busy texting or they have a million orders that's the one negative thing that I don't like about this place. I don't like sitting in my car for 45 mins trying to get one drink on a Saturday morning. That I don't like sitting in my car for 50 mins trying to get my drink at the drive thru. I have never ever had a problem or waited that long at the drive thru for my drink. read more

The management should place the coffee bean grinder, the blender or whatever it may be the t is making a deafening noise under a soundproof cabinet. I came here on a busy morning and there was no line inside. The drive thru was popping, while the inside was nice and calm. Good amount of parking available behind the place. I should have known when I saw the drive in. Sometimes you stumble upon an amazing vibey coffee shot that inspires you to write and you can get work done while sipping on an artsy cappuccino. Other times you search through @yelp for a good coffee place. Today is just not my lucky day. I was hoping for a comfy coffee place with cappuccino in an actual mug. I just like my cappuccino I'm a mug to see the deliciousness. This is more like a weird Starbucks want to be. The space is an awkward set up with lots of wasted space. And the counter space by the windows has outlets which is a huge plus, but you can hardly sit am the stools which are cemented to the floor super close to the table. Just stumbled on this place while looking for new coffee spots! Very cool coffee shop. Atmosphere and design were simple yet elegant and the music was perfect. Perfect for studying and working. Cute little coffee shop in downtown Glenview. Nothing fancy, but it fit the bill for my friend and I (coffee and breakfast before I headed back to the city). I ordered an iced specialty latte (don't remember the flavor), and while I had to stir it up really good because it was still warm, the flavor was good. The egg and cheese biscuit left a little to be desired (it was pretty small), but the flavor was good there too. My husband and I are frequent patrons at the Glenview Grind and we've always loved the staff, service, coffee and food. However, today was very different... We came in for just breakfast this morning and ordered two chicken sausage, egg and cheese muffins. It was a simple order that on a regular morning usually only takes about 5 minutes, but today it took 40 minutes. There were tons of people who came in after us that got their sandwiches, etc while we were left waiting. After 20 minutes of waiting we checked in with the cashier who then approached the staff to see where our order was. They began arguing and bickering in front of us instead of just making our order. We assumed they had taken care of it and we waited another few minutes and still nothing as more people received their food and coffee. After 15 more minutes of waiting, even after we asked them to make our order, they did not make it. It wasn't until the barista asked us what we were waiting on that we finally got the help we needed. She looked puzzled and upset. The barista then asked the staff to make our sandwiches to which they began arguing amongst themselves again instead of preparing our order. They gave the barista an attitude and the barista clearly frustrated said "come on guys, make the order". Five minutes later our order finally came out and the barista apologized on their behalf. The cashier and the rest of the staff were unprofessional. We were forced to wait 40 minutes and not single staff member (minus the barista) showed remorse or seemed apologetic. If you've inconvenienced a customer like that you'd think that they would have offered to refund the order, maybe give us coffee or something but we got nothing. They made no attempts at minimal customer service. We will no longer be returning there after this completely dysfunctional and unprofessional display. read more

Coffee is good. But they lose your order and then blame the customer for not listening when their name was called out. I have visited this place every weekend for 3 months in a row and has happened to me 3 times and I have witnessed it happen to other people also. The owner/manager lady always has the same excuse "where were you? Someone must have taken your order" (Basically blame the customer for the incompetence of her staff) and she is pretty condescending about it. Sorry lady, people just don't take food or beverage which is not meant for them. It might happen on rare occasions, but the frequency at which it happens here is far greater, meaning there is something wrong with your process, and fact that you use the exact same excuse every time means that you know it happens often. breakfast sandwich- frozen stuff you can buy at any supermarket. I get really excited at the opportunity to try out local coffee shops but unfortunately did not have a great experience at this one. What I did not like: I ordered an iced coffee with caramel and skim milk. The coffee tasted watered down, overly-sweet and syrupy. They put almost no milk so I had to go back to get more, and last but not least there was a fly in my cup. So they ended up giving me a new drink altogether.. What I did like: Service was good! I love their drive-thru option and the girl who took my order was really nice. They allow you to use your own mug. Even after I went back and told the girl about the fly and lack of milk, she was accommodating, apologized and got me a new drink immediately. It doesn't seem like my experience is a regular occurrence seeing that most reviews are good, but again I emphasize that the service was good. Maybe I got the wrong thing. I've been to Glenview Grind a few times after work. It's a pretty convenient coffee shop to hole up in to get work done and I can easily spend 2-3 hours there. They have parking available as well as easily-accessible street parking (2-hours maximum). The service is pretty standard, folks taking your order are usually warm. The food is okay (I like their grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup). I don't have any glaring complaints and overall the space has tended to be pretty calm around the afternoon to early evening with the exception of the occasional barista calling out an order. read more

I wanted to like this place, but my husband and I just came here and had the WORST service! We went through the drive-thru, and we were asked to repeat our order 3 times. The guy taking our order said 'sorry I'm slow at this' and was laughing. When we got to the window, we had to repeat our order 2 more times and then one of our drinks was wrong so we had to send it back. My husband and I tried this place (as a carry-out) recently! We got some coffee and grilled cheeses. It wasn't spectacular but it was decent. We actually want to return and try some of their other items on their menu. The coffee was awful, it tasted really watered down and I requested coconut milk, which they "forgot"! The service was as expected, since we went through the drive thru and we were asked to pull over and wait, so at least it wasn't packed on that day. We dropped in here for some breakfast pastries and coffee. They do have three Intelligentsia coffees and though pricey as usual, that's a plus. We found in comparison that their own Glenview Grind coffee was overly bitter and not very good, but it is about 70 cents cheaper per cup than Intelligentsia ($3.45 for a large). Coffee refills for their own brand are $0.55 per cup. Breakfast items like sausage egg and cheese croissant and bacon egg and cheese biscuit were OK. It's a new coffee shop with a cozy atmosphere and great service. Located in the old Caribou Coffee spot on the corner of Glenview and Waukegan, this little grind is a great addition to the neighborhood and a much needed spot for a cup. First of all, talk about easy access! I didn't know until today that there is covered parking behind the building with an additional back entrance into the shop. Good thing, because this is a super busy intersection. I don't know, I think the place is charming. My coffee cake was moist and delicious and nutty...and free...because the woman behind the counter felt it was a bit small for the day. Ummm...thank you so much! My Americano was smooth as all get out, and I don't generally enjoy Americano's, because I find them to be very strong. Funny side note, I have to make reference to someone's earlier review about the menu board being funky to read. They definitely did not have a good printer for their backlit display. Don't stare at it too long or it will make your eyes hurt. Not sure what's up with that. Ha! Oh, I forgot to mention they sell their own branded beans. My husband had a tennis match at the Wilmette Tennis Club and I had a ton of reading to complete for my first week of my first semester of grad school. Luckily, the Glenview Grind was only 8 minutes away! They have a large selection of coffee (including Intelligensia and their own home brew), teas (caffeinated and caffeine free), smoothies and believe it or not...beer and wine! They serve beer and wine from 4-9pm. They are open daily until 9 pm and provide free Wifi (no password needed) and plenty of electrical outlets. If you check in on Yelp they'll honor the $2 off a specialty drink offer! I tried the Nutella latte with whipped cream...so good! Distractions are also available in the form of a large flat screen tv and small plates (charcuterie, cheese & fruit plates) for purchase in the evening hours.
