While in Pittsburgh we visited Glen's since my brother lives nearby. I hadn't been there since I was a kid! They greeted us at the window and I asked for a sample at one window. My parents ordered at the other window since they said they could take their order. Then when it came time to pay they told us we had to pay separately since they already took our orders at 2 different windows. It was fine, just kind of funny. I had 2 scoops - one pistachio and one pumpkin. The pistachio was THE BEST. Honestly the 2 flavors were so good together. Old time place that still makes great custard. Prices are so cheap. My parents love the apple cobbler with custard on top. They packaged it nicely to go so it didn't all melt right away. read more

I had the seasonal banana custard flavor and it was absolutely incredible. I got it in a milkshake with chocolate syrup -- a dream! My husband got an arctic swirl with cookie dough and really loved it. Service was quick and friendly and the prices are pretty cheap! The reason I knocked off a star was because of the condition of the mini golf course. The large pond was half filled with gross, dirty water and was definitely a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Overall, it just looked like the course wasn't taken care of at all. We still had a good time though. read more

Drove past this on our way back from Tastefully Blessed in Springdale and couldn't be happier we decided to stop !! Solid little local spot on the side of the road whipping up homemade custard with a few different flavor options. Place isn't the most aesthetic but for ice cream shops that's what I look for. Prices were super cheap. Each sundae had two scoops and three toppings coming out to less than $10 We got a pistachio with marshmallow sauce, sprinkles and Oreos. That pistachio was fucking BOMB. Had actual broken up pistachios in it as well and just flavoring The other was birthday cake with peanut sauce, nestle crunch and cookie dough. The sauce was salty and the cookie dough chunk amounts were far past generous. Shoutout to the teenager helping us with our indecisive asses Two locations. I live far from this legendary place. I had to try it when I was in the area. It lives up to the hype! My girlfriend and I shared a "small" Arctic Blast, Glen's version of the Dairy Queen Blizzard. I added chocolate chip cookie dough. If this was a small, a large must be enough for 6. This was more than enough for two, a delicious treat at a fair price of $5.11. The young lady who handled the order was pleasant and friendly. I only wish that there were indoor seating like there is at Dairy Queen restaurants, and that there was a location near me. read more

My family loves this place! It's almost a tradition for us -- play a round of mini golf, then follow the game by getting some floats. We also usually pick out a flavor or two to order in to-go/"take home" containers, as well. We have enjoyed everything we've tried from here! This location sells pints, quarts, and gallons of frozen custard as well as lots of "eat immediately" treats. There are ordering/pick-up windows in the front, covered picnic tables around back, and a medium-sized parking lot surrounding the building. The attached mini golf course is picturesque with a blue waterfall and water hazards. The first and last hole are across the street (actually more of an alley/parking area) from the rest of the holes, which gives it a unique twist. There are also scorecard "podiums" along the course. (There are no food or drinks allowed on the course, but one or two trash cans would be a nice addition, since some guests occasionally break the rules of the course, as well as the rules of human decency, and leave trash around the playing areas. They might not use the bins anyway, but other more conscientious guests would probably assist with this.) Overall, this is a wonderful place to visit. I highly recommend the mini golf and the frozen custard -- consecutively as a complete trip, or separately. read more

Always a great experience at Glen's Frozen Custard. I love their hot fudge sundaes, but my wife always gets the apple crisp. She says it's the perfect proportion of ice cream to apple crisp. I tried it and she's right! Glen's has an old time feel and the service is great. read more

My husband told me about this place, it is a local institution that he used to go to frequently as a kid so I was very excited to try it. We got three flavors of custard: butter pecan, cake batter, and mint chocolate chip. The custard was amazingly creamy and the price was great. But wow, the flavors were a bit much! The butter pecan was the best of the bunch, but the cake batter and mint chip flavors were too intense. Almost felt like a little bit too much flavor extract had been poured into the ice cream. Some people might like this but apparently I like a more subtle flavor. I'd go back to try some of the sundae options but I think I will pass on getting those flavors of the custard again. read more

Any time of day, if Glen's is open there is a line for custard because the locals know how good it is. The apple cobbler with warm vanilla custard is a favorite as is the chocolate banana shake. Love that they have both think and thin options for the shakes. Wish they had a malt option, but that is being nit-picky. read more

I've been hearing good things for years, and everything is true. The ice cream is delicious and the service is great. I particularly like the blueberry ice cream, but everything is very good. There's a a $5 minimum for credit cards. They also host a mini-golf course, you can ring a bell at the back window. Get the banana split. Get the sundaes. Haven't been here for years. Why, I dunno. Love the place, always did. It's been here since I was young...and I'm no pup. I stopped here after Marine boot camp in '72...to give you an idea. Took my son, daughter and grandson here today. We were in the area, and I figured I'd treat them to the best! Their stuff is sooooooo good! Polite service from a youngster working the counter. Generous portions. Heck, a small is big! Everyone loved their ice cream...from chocolate, to cookies and cream, pistachio and (mine) a caramel cookies and cream. Yummy! Yummy, yummy, yummy! Glen's Frozen Custard is open for the season. It's still a little chilly in Pittsburgh this weekend, but there was a line at Glen's. They have a cute mini golf course behind their building - but it was too cold to play, I've only ever been to Glen's before, so I wasn't sure what to order. My mom ordered a scoop of butterscotch custard and a scoop of chocolate custard in a waffle cone. She enjoyed it - she also let me try the butterscotch and it was delicious. Unfortunately, since there was a line - I wasn't sure what to order but I didn't want to hold up the line. I opted for a Strawberry milkshake. I didn't realize that it wasn't one of the fresh custard flavors. It was vanilla custard with strawberry syrup, and not the good flavored kind. It tasted fake and unfortunately I hated it. It wasn't what I was looking for - I should ordered one of their custard flavors of the day. I'll definitely go back if I'm in the Springdale area again - I'd try their flavor of the day and play a round of mini golf. read more

We love Glens and can't wait for it to open every year. It's a little crazy getting in and out of their lot sometimes but it's worth it.

What a cool place! I love the old school vibes here. I went with the cookies & cream custard which was delicious- thick, creamy, and so tasty. Brendan went with their version of a blizzard- he got the chocolate ice cream with oreos. Both were delicious but Brendan's was even better than mine. I have never had any issues coming here, the workers are all so kind and caring, and put their thoughtfulness in making these awesome creations.
