After a morning hike we decided we needed some food. Glenda's was the closest option and I have been wanting to try this small town cafe. The outside is cute and looks like it is straight off of a country road. The inside is small, I would estimate about 10 tables and 5 bar stool seats as half the counter is used for food prep. When we got there at 8:30 toe, four person table were unoccupied, but marked as reserved. We were too hungry to wait and decided to take a seat at the bar. I caution you on this as there is exactly zero padding in those stools. Do yourself a favor and wait for a table. We ordered pretty quickly, and my coffee was constantly refilled which any coffee drinker knows is a huge plus. You really get the small town service with a smile at Glenda's. The chef cooks right in front of everyone so you can see all of the dishes coming out. I love this because I often choose my meal based on what has been plated and walks by. We ordered the Good Morning Burrito ($8) with hashbrowns and eggs, hashbrowns, and choice of meat ($7.50). The burrito was the clear winner in terms of volume and flavor! Absolutely delicious and it came with a side of salsa. The eggs were good and cooked well. The sausage patties were pretty standard issue (you can also get sausage links, bacon, ham). The hashbrowns were your average hashbrowns, but what set them apart was the fact that they were crispy! It is hard to find crispy hashbrown when you go out for breakfast. Lovely couple own and manage this wonderful cafe. The best pie on earth! You are given warm fresh bread as soon as you are seated. Prices are very reasonable. Check hours before you go. Closed between lunch and dinner on most days but this is only for a couple hours. Best and least expensive prime cuts of beef. You feel the warmth and comfort as soon as you walk in the door. This place is an absolute gem! Go north to Oconomowoc lake and visit Glenda's, you won't be disappointed. We had the eggs Benedict, fruit bowl, sunny-side up eggs and biscuit and gravy. Oh my, the biscuits and gravy were the absolute best I have ever eaten. The lady at the table next to us swore by them and we trusted her local opinion. I have been looking to get over here for a long time now and today would be the day. The place is on a Main Street small town feel which is nice with street parking. The place looks like the country charm monster threw up all over the place with all the chotchkies on the walls. I get there at opening just after 7am and only one table in in service and a bunch of tables with reserved signs ?, I ask what time does the tables fill up and I was told when church let's out at 8am, a good 50 minuets away. They try to seat me at the counter and I ask for a table and I'm told that there is only one table available, the farthest one back in the coroner of the room ? while 90% of the tables empty, see my pictures. The menu is small with the basics so I keep it simple with sausage patties, eggs over easy, hash browns and sourdough toast which took over 15 minuets with the place empty for some reason. All the food was crammed on one plate which I hate, you can't even spread the sausage patties apart to cut and eat them one at a time. The sourdough toast was very good with that nice little chew, the best part of my breakfast. The eggs were perfect sunny side up. The hash browns were golden looking and tasty, seasoned well but no crunch and all soft. The sausage patties were tasty with a little zest in them and not over cooked with a juicy texture. Overall the breakfast was noticeabley tasty and better than average so I would say that this is a solid breakfast spot. I was out by 7:40am and the whole table thing really irked me more because no one even sat at any of tables that was off limits to me while I had to sit all the way in the back corner for no apparent reason what so ever WTF was that all about. read more

They had some specials that a few other customers raved about but my wife and I ordered fairly basic. She had 2 eggs, over easy, bacon and hash browns. Bacon and hash browns were good, eggs were a bit overcooked. I had Eggs Benedict and muffin was overcooked and eggs were also. Perhaps we should have went with the specials. Moms choice for Mother's Day. Guess because it's in between where we all live. Well I can say Glenda's has a small home town feel to it, almost like eating in Grandams kitchen. Open concept so you can see the food being made while you are at your table or at the counter. Almost feels like you're up in the Door County having breakfast. I ordered the Eggs Benny because if anyone knows me, knows that's what I'm hunting. They were traditional style nothing special, not bad just not amazing. I did think the hollandaise sauce was a bit runny but the eggs were perfect and muffin was warm. With a side of bacon. Bacon was real no micro crap, and crispy how I like it. Bloody Mary was decent, garnished with half a pickle spear, a lime wedge, a lemon wedge, and a sweet pepper. Prices were what you would expect for a small town diner. All in all not bad food. Cute and cozy restaurant that serves good food. We checked out Glenda's for Sunday breakfast. You are going to want to make reservations as there are not a lot of tables and it fills up quickly. If you don't make reservations, the other option is the counter, but there are only about 6 seats at the counter and you will want to get there early. We sat at the counter and watched our food being made. I am always in awe of the food that is coming out of these little places and the serious multitasking taking place. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the eggs were perfectly poached! I don't know how many places I've gone to where they can't seem to poach eggs properly. The hashbrowns were buttery and crisp. There were some unique daily specials, one was a broccolini taco that looked pretty tasty and the daily quiche with Asiago and asparagus. Service is fast and efficient and my coffee never went empty. Sweet!! Great service & a welcoming atmosphere. The best fish fry I've had since moving to Wisconsin. The fillets were thick, flaky and juicy. It was cooked crispy with a light batter coating and the sides were scrumptious. If you have the chance try a bowl of the kielbasa cheese soup it was wonderful but don't forget to leave room for the great dessert selection. read more

Glenda's really is great. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I particularly love the avocado salsa burger and the Merkt's burger, and on Fridays I love the fish fry (all you can eat!). A newer favorite is one of their sandwiches, the Cleveland Dipper. It has pork that's been made with a combination of delicious spices and an awesome au jus-type dip. In addition, they're always switching it up a little and featuring a new twist on something during the weekend - usually some variation of Eggs Benedict as well as quiche. So, be sure to check in often to see what the new offering is on any given weekend. Whatever it may be, it's sure to be fresh and delicious. The owners and waitstaff are incredibly nice and always remember a face, so you will always feel welcome at Glenda's - and have a fantastic meal to top it off. Visited on a Sunday for breakfast. We had Denver omelette, biscuits and gravy, French toast and side of blueberry pancakes. The place is very charming and the staff was friendly. It did get rather busy around 11:30 am! My biscuits and gravy was awesome. I loved the added mushroom flavor with the cut up pieces of sausage over the biscuits. The blueberry pancake was dry and tasted bland. I would add buttermilk and perhaps make them a bit fluffier. We order bacon. First batch was cooked perfect just before it got too crispy. Second batch was way over cooked. Almost burned so my daughter wouldn't touch them. I like bacon that way for the record! French toast and omelettes were good and no a piece was left! I would definitely recommend and return to this cute and quaint restaurant to try more food! read more

We rented a place off Road Q for a few nights in October, and I decided to walk into town one morning for breakfast at Glenda's. I was solo, so I sat at the bar. First of all, I don't think this place has changed in the past 30 years. I remember sitting at that exact same bar back in the 80s when I lived in Oconomowoc. Something about it stuck out, and they're still getting things right. The service was friendly - I was greeted by just about everyone who works there, and they were all working together to provide meal service and refills. Food was great, too. I enjoyed my eggs benedict very much, and the egg dish my neighbor ordered looked incredible, too. This is definitely a place to put on your list for next time you're in Okauchee! Enjoy! read more

My wife and I wanted breakfast on the way to the new Fleet& Farm in Oconomowoc. Said a google search of lake country cafes. Glenda's got a hit. We live in Rubicon and my wife loves down to the lake country area. Glenda's was a good choice. Walking in the door and taking in the homey, kitchy atmosphere I knew in an instant this was going to be a great experience. Brenda was charming and her servers were ever so attentive. We will have to go back again soon to make acquaintance with Glenn. The breakfast was excellent and considering the location, very reasonable priced. We were looking for a place to go out for breakfast and we prefer, small, cozy, mom and pop diners over larger corporate chains. We chose Glendas from the other options we found on line. The place was crowded (usually a good sign) but the tables were so close together we were literally sitting elbow to elbow with the other patrons and it was very noisy. The waitress had to squeeze past us to and from other tables which was disconcerting. There are no printed menus, but a menu posted on dry erase boards which many can't see when seated so you get up and look over other patrons to view them. We chose our items and ordered, but sides and extras aren't posted. The service was rather slow and when the food got to us, the waffle was cold and the sausage patties tasted old. We ate and when the bill came it was wrong, the waitress fixed it and we were shocked by some of the prices. $13.50 extra for two eggs and sausage added to our entrees of waffles and biscuits and gravy. We were disillusioned as our experience was less than what we had hoped. We will go other places next time read more

An inviting description and positive reviews convinced us to get off the highway to visit for Saturday breakfast. The people were friendly and found a table for us right away. Then came the disappointments. Let's start with coffee, which was neither hot or strong, but filled uncomfortably to the brim of the cup. The wait for the food was longer than expected for a simple breakfast. During our waiting time, we noticed that the only cook left twice to get supplies from the back room. When the food arrived, we were disappointed to see that three slices of cheese on top of an omelette was a "three cheese omelette." See attached photo. read more

This is a solid place to get breakfast if you're in the area, but not the best ever - for a few reasons. One: you need to be in the mood for a slightly dingy dining room experience. We wanted to sit outside as they have a cute patio that is shaded, but there were no seats when we arrived. Phooey. They've got headache-inducing fluorescent overhead lighting, an open kitchen right behind the counter and plenty of witty (some tired) signage - think "unattended children will receive an espresso and a puppy" type stuff. Two: the food is pretty delicious. My boyfriend had the crab cakes with poached eggs over arugula, a nice healthy option. I would have gone for it had I not just eaten crab cakes at brunch a week or so before. I got the Tex-Mex scramble, a jumble of eggs, potatoes, red peppers, tomatoes and a bit of cheese. It was great, but I asked the waitress for no corn bread on the side as I'm trying to avoid bread - I'll eat it if it's in front of me. She said yes and even offered me a replacement of fruit, but then the cornbread was on the side anyway. AND the little morsel I had was delicious. Le sigh. Yeah, we're regulars. It's like getting fed at Uncle Glen and Aunt Brenda's. We're here about every 2 or 3 Sundays for brunch and rather than of just the two of us, we've made it a regular meet-up place with some of our bestest friends. Those who are deserving of Glenda's anyway. Straight-up simple staples, but it's always better at Glenda's than it is at home! What's with that?? In addition, they always have GREAT specials that Glen whips up in his kitchen from flaky quiches, fancy-mushroom omelets, Portuguese sausage sides, and ohhhh... the chocolate banana bread. It's heaven. Truly. Everything is freshly made and when they run out, they run out. Yes. Fresh stuff runs out. Breakfast here will fill you easily until mid-afternoon. This is really the quintessential family-run joint with cute little signs hanging all over the walls, decorated like a country kitchen, with kitchen tables.
