Sam warmly greeted me and was very helpful at answering all of my questions, including helping me choose my floor and complimentary wall tiles. Prices are more than fair here (and yes, I did shop around before coming here!) There doesn't seem to be a parking lot but there was plenty of parking when I arrived mid-day. I parked in the residential street around the block, a very short walk to the shop. The shop is located near Brand Blvd. where all the car dealerships are so very convenient to find. My experience with Sam and his team was excellent. If you are looking to partner with someone who will see the project through tip to tail Sam is your guy. We found out that our bathroom shower wasn't sealed correctly and were faced with having to re-do our bathroom. We started the process looking at Floor and Decor which was fine but felt impersonal. My husband suggested we stop by Glendale Tiles and Tops which is in our neighborhood. It was there that we found our dream tile for the shower statement wall. Martin and Abel were the team who did demo, tiling, constructing the new shower etc. They were lovely to work with. Martin is a very talented tile installer and Abel was his right hand man, always professional and hard working. They set up and protected our floors every day, were very clean and considerate and maybe most importantly did an excellent job. The electrician and the shower door guys that were brought in by the team were also very kind and good at what they do. Whenever we hit a snag or problem - for instance we had to figure out placement of the mirrors and that was a bit of a puzzle, Sam would come by noodle on the problem until we came to a solution. We ended up buying a vanity base and Sam made the vanity top - we used the same quartz on the shower bench, looks great. I couldn't be happier with the final result. Well this is super long overdue but it was Glendale tiles and tops and the person that I dealt with was Sam who's still there. And when did I use them in 2009. It was one of the most pleasant experiences I ever had dealing with a company. Sam was so fair and on top of things 17 years later, I can only say he was excellent and no one has ever come close to how good he was heard he did the demo he installed all the cabinets and Granite and extended the granite into it over a hanging window area. He beat the Home Depot price by at least 50%. And provided me so much more I installed the sink and the dishwasher but other than that, he did everything. read more

Extremely confrontational owner. I parked my car on the street , there was a wheel chair that was clearly trash in a parking space, I was on a busy road so I quickly moved it out of the way. When I got out of the car the owner was already there screaming at me asking why I moved the wheelchair in the drive way. He was clearly looking for a fight . Yeah a man yelling at a woman - great look. I explained to him that I wanted to park and then move it to the trash but it was a busy street and I needed to get my car out of the way. He rolled his eyes because he didn't believe me and kept telling me to do it then. I told him I would only do it if he left me alone. I didn't even get a chance to walk into the store. Based on other reviews the lack of customer service seems to be a trend. Picking a fight with a random stranger over something so small does not deserve to be rewarded. In my experience, a company is only as good as the people running it. My boyfriend's Yelp search yielded Glendale Tiles and Tops, and from the very first meetings with Sam, we found him to be honest, thorough and 100% reliable. His daughter/business partner Tania was very efficient and pleasant on the phone and in email providing me with quotes (which beat everyone else's), though I dealt primarily with Sam. He showed up when he said he would (my biggest battle with contractors) and did what he said he'd do. And more. Much more, in fact. And over the last several weeks of remodeling the kitchen and three bathrooms in my rental house, he's become what I'd consider a trusted friend. This review is long overdue. We renovated our condo last november (around thanksgiving). Found Glendale Tiles and Tops through yelp. Sam helped us through the process, he is very patient and helpful. We renovated everything in kitchen(floor, cabinets, countertops and plumbing), 2 bathrooms+bar area(Cabinets and countertop). Sam spent tonnes(weekends/holidays) of time with us to finalize cabinets, countertops and tiles. Demolition, hauling, plumbing and Installation is very quick and efficient(on or ahead of schedule). There were some minor issues with installation with cabinets / flooring that were taken care in timely fashion. Sam and his crew also took care of several things like installing microwave, bathroom toilets, fixing laundry room doors to fit new drier washer, hauling away huge old mirrors that were not part of original discussion. Sam worked with us 3 full days(made several trips) and lent us 20 sample tiles on a much smaller project(fire place). He was genuinely cool when we decided to fix it later. read more

I drove all the way from my place in West LA to Glendale to find GTT after striking out at several closer places with bad customer service and outrageous prices. Tania and Sam were extremely helpful and patient in helping me decide on my options, giving suggestions to save on cost -- no matter what you pick, their prices are completely reasonable and much lower than any other places I found. Sam even drove out several times to look at what I wanted to do with my kitchen and take precise measurements before work started. Once I decided, they scheduled their installers around my work schedule and the schedule for delivery of my appliances. The cabinet and counter installers were professional and courteous. Long after the job was done, they continued to help me when the plumber recommended by my neighbor ended up being a complete moron, and acted as the go-between between several scheduling fiascos to get their plumber out to me. My only quibble is that their workmen didn't do such a great job in some smaller areas, probably only noticeable by me, but still. They cut one of the outlet openings too large so there is a visible hole in the granite peeking out from under, and they wouldn't wait until the microwave installers finished up, so the microwave ended up having to stick out an extra half-inch or so further than I'd planned. Also, I thought the counter part that sticks out should have a cleaner look, instead of the wood showing if you look at the underside. Still, Glendale Tiles & Tops is the real deal. I was surprised how fast they were able to get in and out with all the work they needed to get done. My house was built in the 1950s and my wife and I love it, even though the kitchen was sorely in need of remodeling. Suffice to say, we began what we thought would be the long and arduous process of developing and implementing a remodeling strategy for the kitchen. We knew the basics and pretty much what we wanted - new counters, sink and backsplash. Keep in mind, colors and materials would be tricky for our kitchen. A quaint 1950s galley kitchen is not going to work with granite counter tops and steel appliances. That's way too modern for us and stylistically just wouldn't work. Glendale Tiles and Tops was our second destination as we began visiting tile/counter shops. We first met Tania who was very personable and knowledgeable. More importantly, she was down to earth and quite friendly, a pleasing departure from the lifeless drones that patrol the corridors of Home Depot, Lowes, etc. My wife and I were both impressed by the store's inventory and displays. It's much bigger than it appears from the street. There are numerous color and material samples as well as mock interiors available to peruse when trying to pin down a design scheme. Sam visited us a couple days later and we were more than satisfied with the scope of work, estimate and time frame. He agreed with our design ideas for the kitchen and showed us additional backsplashes that we might like - one of which we ultimately choose. Sam was extremely gracious and thorough, so much so that he contacted us when the materials arrived since there were color deviations and he wanted to make sure we saw the actual materials prior to installation. These variations were very minor and possibly not even noticeable to the untrained eye. Nonetheless, Sam had the foresight and courtesy to double-check things, which my wife and I very much appreciated. The kitchen remodel, including demo, was completed in about a week's time and we are thrilled with the result. Synthetic quartz counter tops blended with a marble backsplash of varying earth tones has dramatically improved the appearance and character of our kitchen. Sam's crew also applied faux panels to 'conceal' gaps between the range and cabinets on either side. He suggested this and included it as part of the overall renovation - a personal touch that we are genuinely thankful for. We were so pleased with the process and the finished product that we proceeded with remodeling the bathroom shortly after the kitchen was completed. The new bathroom tile was originally lined with standard metal flashing, which was a mistake on our part. It just didn't complement the quality and look of the tile. Sam came over - on a Sunday no less - and we discussed solutions for over an hour. We ultimately decided on marble pencils slightly thicker than the tile to create a border of proper proportion and that needed 'finished' look. The result was wonderful and exactly what was missing. Sam also utilized excess tile to create a subtle ledge along a shower window. Yet another personal design touch on his part that added needed nuance and improved the overall project. Aside from the design and quality of work superlatives, Sam and Tania deserve to be praised for their integrity, kindness and helpfulness. They genuinely look out for their customers and are willing to do whatever it takes to make them happy. We all know that a business, any business, is only as good as the people that run it. With Glendale Tiles and Tops, I can say without any hesitation that Sam, Tania, Charles and the rest of the 'crew' are as good as it gets. Sam makes it easy for selecting designs, material, and scheduling. His price was among lowest out of 4 estimates, and he made extra efforts and trips to finish off the project without pain and without regret. Doesn't over-charge you because you paid by credit card, nor doesn't add percentage on those little materials (tubes, pipes, etc) he'd purchase from Home Depot which makes it a lot convenient for me. On my total remodeling project, 3 other contractors were involved and Sam was the only one that did not need any supervision. Money is well worth and not expensive at quality job well done. Very disappointing! With such glowing recommendations, I anticipated a very pleasant exchange. Unfortunately, that was not to be. I recently had a large portion of tile flooring replaced and had some surplus tile remaining after the job was finished. I called Glendale Tiles & Tops for an estimate to re-tile my 2ft x 7ft fireplace hearth. The representative who answered the phone advised me that GT&T only installs material purchased in their shop to avoid any problem that may arise from the material itself. It seems to me that we could have come to some sort of "hold harmless" agreement that would satisfy both parties. Yet established policy won out over the desire to gain a new and potentially happy customer who would go on to write another glowing review . . . instead of this one. C'est la vie. read more

Final update, Yelp, can I give 6 stars? We got our center island hangover part cut off! Sam sent his crew over (5 people total) just to take care of this small job. His guys carefully took my counter top, cut down the rough top, brought the stone fback to the shop, and came back at the same day to install it! TADA!!! The finish product looks perfect, you can't tell it was cut, it looks just like a brand new one we would've bought! Very pleased with Sam's crews, they were prompt, responsible, and clean up after themselves! And what the best was, Sam didn't even charge me the extra for taking the counter top back to the shop to cut it---his original quote was just for the crew to cut it in my place, to take it back it would've cost more according his guy, but he was so kind and just waived it! And the price---believe me, I've done my homework, nowhere else could beat them. Overall, this has been the BEST experiences I have ever had with any business in LA,love them!!! We need more business like this in this city, one that stands by their service, and run their business with pride and honesty. Thumbs up BIGGGG TIME!!! I am the guy who knows EXACTLY what I want ...I do all my homework..I go to all the big box stores, watch the DIY network- I'm an educated consumer, and speak up when it's not right, and boy do I want to praise companies like GTT who get it right. This company is as good as it gets... I did granite tops in the kitchen and bathroom (the pricing and financing allowed me to add the bathroom as well). My husband and I took off early from work today to check this place out to supply tile for our kitchen, and two and a half bathrooms. My husband shows up first, is ignored by the owner (?), who leaves to run an errand. He arrives about 10 minutes later, fine. I ask him a price on a particular tile. He asks how big the room is. I tell him it would be for the kitchen, 13x9.5'. He tells me that will be expensive. Ummm... did I wear my rags to the store today? After 10 minutes, he tells me it's not in the catalog, and can get me a price tomorrow (Saturday) because the warehouse is already closed, but it will be expensive. I ask him what expensive means, and he says he'll have to tell me tomorrow. I ask him how long it would take to order. He says he'll have to tell me tomorrow. We ask him prices on about 3 more tiles, which he gives us, then when we ask whether any of them are in stock, he says he'll have to tell us tomorrow. I ask him his hours tomorrow -- 10am - 3pm. I ask him if we show up at 2:30pm, whether the places will be open for us to get the information. Actually, he says, they're all closed until Monday. So no, we wouldn't have any information tomorrow. Thank you for wasting my time and treating me like I'm not a serious customer. My business will go elsewhere. I would have given 1 star, but the selection looked pretty good. I'm so glad I found this shop on Yelp! As a contractor, I'm always looking for good specialty shops that have great products, great prices, and great service. This shop has all the above, they really helped in the success of my remodels. They'll give you the attention and expertise that some places wont....(home depot), and you'll make some new friends. Well to begin with, Tania was truly wonderful. She not only tried to help, she went way out beyond the usual. She was pleasant and helpful. Tania even came out to our home to asses the kitchen. Tania is very skilled with ideas and we took many suggestions, but still stuck to our real likes and happy we did. Sam, Tania's father is a very nice and helpful man. The job they ended up with at our home included some mistakes made by their installers. However, they were all corrected to our agreement and even though it was a rough time having several problems happen, Tania and her dad were very honorable to cover what was their responsibility. There was an item that seemed to be lost in the transaction and that was our fault for not having them write it down because when it came time for GTT to own up to what was promised it fell through and Tania said she did not agree to that, but once again, it was not in writing. My suggestion is if you use GTT, and I highly recommend them, that everything is written down as to not get any confusion and to keep in good relationship. We absolutely knew we were correct and there was no confusion on our part of what was agreed, but Tania had no memory of the promise. We're not surprised, because they really work hard and it could have been forgotten by Tania, but if we were to do it over again, EVERYTHING would be agreed on only in writing. We think they're honest people, but we think all agreed things need to be in writing and this was a good lesson learned. Now how does our new kitchen look? GREAT! We are so happy we went beyond and purchased a different sink and faucet from a different supplier because of the limited selection at GTT. The cabinets look fantastic, although we would never have Grand J&K Cabinetry installed ever again because the company is very difficult to deal with. We had one cabinet door that was clearly a factory screw up and they gave us such a hard time to accept responsibility; plus they won't deal with you directly.! They won't even transfer the call to a manager. They will have nothing to do with the owner of their product! It's not like dealing with any other kind of company, like a furniture company, or computer company of electronics company who back their products. They make you go to the company who installed them, thus being Glendale Tiles and Tops. So in the future if GTT is not around, good luck with this company. Grand J&K are real JERKS! We love the cabinets, but would not have put their product in our home. Thank heavens for Tania and Sam because they dealt with the problem and went to bat for us. Stay away from Grand J&K Cabinetry! But run to Glendale Tile and Tops because they are truly wonderful people. Thank you Tania and Sam! read more
