This is a review during the COVID-19 pandemic and unfortunately had a poor experience with them. We were searching for contractors to remodel our master bedroom/closet. I took the time to draw detailed diagrams, and sent them pictures. It would take multiple e-mails and phone calls to get back responses. When I do get a response, they would say they would review the project and get back to me. I wanted to give them a chance given their highly touted reviews as seen here, but after 2x weeks of patiently waiting, they never replied back to me. Confidence in communication and trust are my most important factors when considering home remodeling, and Jamie's Kitchen lost mine. Maybe my project did not fit their typical projects or they were too busy, but the very least they can do is reply back with status updates or that they cannot do my project. I ended up with a different contractor, but wasted 2x weeks here. I rarely give 1 star reviews, but their poor communication justifies this. these guys worked on both my kitchen and my brothers kitchen. they had a lot of materials to choose from and digitized the design on PC to help visualize the design of the kitchen. He gave me a great deal. They are affordable and very accommodating in fixing any issues during and after the remodel. i noticed a few slight flaws a month after the remodel and Jamie right away sent his people to fix the issue without a problem. He cares about the customer satisfaction and it shows. the timeline of the project was laid out so you would know what to expect for the week. The payment plan was scheduled on the contract as well, so that you aren't surprised by an unexpected payment, because some worker needs to get gas or something. ( yes its happened to me before with other contractors) A separate handy man will be required to handle the appliance installation, plumbing, patching, painting and electrical work if you require any of that. i had my friend who is a professional plumber and his team handle those jobs. The whole kitchen from the design to the material came out way better then i could have envisioned. I would gladly recommend Jamie and his team. I am big on reading Yelp reviews but I rarely write them. I found Jamie's Kitchen Cabinets on Yelp while I was researching contractors to remodel our galley kitchen in our condo. Working in a customer service environment, it was important to me that reviews online reflected how they treat and value their clients. JR was quick at returning calls and was very easy to work with to come do an estimate. After they came to take measurements, my husband and I drove to their showroom to view the 3-D model and get an idea of what kind of cabinets and finishes we wanted. Their quote was significantly lower than other contractors- with better service and follow up. The guys who came to do the demo and the installation were very professional and courteous while working. They arrived promptly everyday and stayed right on schedule. I was at work when the base cabinets and upper cabinets were installed, which took a whole day's work. When I came home from work, I wasn't crazy about the height of the upper cabinets from the floor. I felt bad because I wanted them lowered and I knew that would take several hours of more work. I spoke with JR late that night and he assured me it was "no problem" and that the guys would "take care of it". Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with Jamie's Kitchen Cabinets. Everyone from the people he has working in the showroom, to the guys coming to do the work was so nice and respectful. I've contacted several contractors for home renovation prior to putting the property on the market. My goal was to find a competent contractor who could transfer this property to contemporary style with the best interior design within a limited budget. JR was the only one who came with the quick proposal to show me/owner(via Facetime)  how/where to improve the home. He made a list of what he wanted to do with 3D design. Quickly, the owner decided to use him. Through 1 more month of renovation, he explained and showed me what progress he has finished early morning weekly at the spot according to the schedule of contract. Going with Jamie's cabinets was the best decision I could have possibly made for transforming my kitchen. Price, materials, installation and service cannot be beat!! The installation was very smooth and fast. They use different teams for granite, cabinets and tile, which is good because they are all specialized. They are all on time and worked hard. I was able to leave the keys with them and they came in and out with no incident. Demolition and installation of everything was very meticulous and clean. JR came by for a site visit after the cabinets came in and was very communicative as to what was finished, what time the installers were coming in. But most importantly, the quality of the finished product is excellent. The cabinets were all plywood boxes, no MDF anywhere and the granite installation looked great. Installation was very detail oriented. I have one counter that was seamed so well that it looks like a single slab. JR and the team are very good to work with and if you do encounter any problems, the team will be sure to fix it. These are straightforward, honest guys who are anal about kitchens. They are also very accommodating. I should also point out that they did not charge me for any hidden extras or surprise costs when the work was complete. My only complaint is that the kitchen looks so good, it's making the rest of my place look damn cheesy!! I predict a trip to Sears in my immediate future, since my cheapo stove sticks out like a sore thumb. I will absolutely be back for my bathrooms. Worked with JR on what was to be a short-lived project that ended up being more than a year. Unfortunately, we parted ways mid-project. There was a gap in leadership between the contractor and subs that led to substandard results. Wall tile was laid improperly and settled unevenly, and had to be demolished and reinstalled by another contractor. Water valves leaked and were installed incorrectly with cold and hot in the wrong locations. Floor tile was laid unevenly so that the seams did not line up with the walls. On more than one occasion, the workspace was left a mess between visits. They cut tile in the garage that made an incredible mess with massive dust that went inside the washer and dryer and required service. All in all, JR is nice guy and initially was well intended, but not sure premium installations are his sweet spot. read more

This is long overdue! Let me start by saying there's no one I'd trust more to work on my property or recommend than JR! His professionalism, attention to detail, work ethics, and style is none like other. Between working on my mom's master bathroom, remodeling our property, and being HOA President, I've had to work with a fair share of contractors. Most will give you an overpriced bid or a really good price but you constantly have to chase and manage them. JR's prices are fair and reasonable. You get quality products and great craftsmanship. Here's what to expect: 1) JR is not Jeff Lewis or the Property Brothers. Therefore, you need to tell him what sort of style you like. He'll give you recommendations and draw out a plan, but ultimately, you choose everything from the color of paint you want on your wall to tiles and fixtures. 2) Your project start date will likely start 2-3 months from when you sign. JR is a very sought after guy and he doesn't like to do more projects than he can handle. He's about quality over quantity and would rather have his client's full attention to ensure the work is done correctly and up to standard. If you're not happy with his work, he will work with you to resolve any issues. 3) Attention to detail. Ok, so he has a few tile guys that aren't as great as the others, so make sure you check their work. But other than that, JR's design are always well thought out. From the height of your shower to the alignment of your tiles and even the positioning and length of a bench you might want installed in your shower. JR always takes the extra step of putting himself in your place to see how you might use or see these. He's not just a Yes man. From his years of experience, he tells you what does and doesn't work. 4) Professionalism. If he says he'll be there at 1, he'll be there at 12:55 or he'll let you know ahead of time. A lot of contractors will give you a window and show up at the very last minute IF they even respond to you. This should already tell you what kind of person you'll be working with. JR and his guys just finished remodeling my whole house. JR acting as my contractor and my designer literally transformed my extremely outdated and poorly built 1987 tract home to a beautiful home that is the envy of my neighborhood. They are the best when it comes to remodel, additions, etc. This is not the first time I used them and will definitely not be my last time. JR came and did an excellent job in my project. I needed a pool to be demolished, garage to be demolished and rebuilt, complete renovation and addition to my property. The project was completed on schedule as promised. You know he is good when the city inspector requested his business card to refer to his other inspections. The project site was kept clean with no complaints from our neighbors. It's been a year since JR (the owner) worked with our kitchen and boy are we glad it is over. It was a ton of work and...scary because it's not everyday you redo a kitchen, and once it's done you can't really change it without significant costs. At the end of the day, we went with JR's team because of their attention to detail and we are glad we did. **Quick edit, it doesn't have to be a lot of work. You can also just opt to let JR handle everything. I wrote a lot of stuff but feel free to skip to the summary at the end. First, I'm in real estate so I have a particular way of doing things which makes me a pain in the ass as a customer. I haggle, I do tons of research, and nitpick over everything. Did I mention I brought in a lawyer to review the contract too? JR still put up with it. I chose custom cabinets, the most expensive option. There are cheaper options though. If you're seriously thinking about doing a kitchen, you need to understand the different types of pricing "tiers" out there. The poster comparing JR to Lowe's is comparing apples and oranges (Lowe's simply does not even offer custom cabinetry). I spent 2-3 months getting kitchen quotes from all over -- here's what I've learned. First, your budget will dictate what materials are in your price range. There are 3 big groups for materials. 1. Pre-fab MDF kitchen. Factory made, compressed pieces of wood (think of cheap Ikea furniture or the laminate counter-top from your cheap college apartment). 2. Solid wood pre-fab. These are solid wood, but made in the factory so you'll have to play Tetris and fit their preset cabinets into your kitchen. 3. Fully customized wood cabinetry. Kitchen is made to fit your kitchen exactly. Within the above types, there are different tiers of pricing depending on the quality of labor you're getting (is it a licensed contractor vs some dude in the Home Depot parking lot). JR is a licensed contractor that does high quality work -- this is where a large portion of where the costs come in. The difference between high quality labor and low is this: Low quality labor may entail cabinets that don't sit flush to floor, molding that bulges outward, an unbalanced sink making water pool in a corner, and other parts of your house have been damaged by careless workers carrying around tools. Oh that accidental damage on the wall? Low quality contractors will suddenly become "too busy" to come back after the job is done to fix it. These...are all real stories I've dealt with previously. Those looking for cheap labor and cabinets for a low end investment property or a cheap flipper, you are in the wrong place. JR's is really a place for moderate to high end homes. JR's team, from the cabinet guys to the counter-top installers, are top notch. I ordered a custom created marble counter-top. The guy who fabricated the counter-top was OCD, and was methodical in choosing how to cut the stone Our custom shaped counter was beautifully cut and joined together from different slabs. Matching the slab cuts so that the patterns line up is pretty key. He spent a good amount of time polishing the stone before and after install as well. The cabinet team worked hard to make sure that all cabinets were perfectly level, flush, and painted flawlessly. They were very careful to make sure the other parts of the house were not damaged. You'd be surprised at how easy this happens (droppings heavy tools on tile, moving a ladder and scratching a narrow hall, etc.) - JR's team has very high standards. Cabinets that may have been damaged on delivery were replaced or repaired without question. **EDIT** This is probably why custom cabinets must be installed by JR. There are so many adjustments (some major) even after it's installed. Could end up in a situation where contractors blame each other for mistakes (mistakes always happen in large projects). Many of you are considering Ikea/Lowe's. I didn't go with Lowe's/Ikea because the workers in the store seemed completely disconnected from the cabinet installers. It's difficult to assess the quality of the installers. This does not mean they're bad - I just wasn't a fan of their system. One important note: JR is very rough around the edges and can be harsh at times especially during price discussions. Don't let this phase you, he means well. I'm not surprised that some posters were put off by this. Ultimately, I went with JR because I felt that that level of pride in his work and passion is something I knew would reflect in his end product. I'm here for a great kitchen, not a yes-man who under-delivers. In summary: JR offers moderately to expensive priced services, from pre-fab to fully custom solid wood custom cabinetry. You're not just buying the cabinetry, but a high level of craftsmanship from his entire team, attention to detail, and post-project services. "JR" has posted the same owner response twice so I am assuming they want a response from me. Yes, you have the right to refuse service, limit your customer load, etc. HOWEVER, when I emailed a detailed scope of work, including pictures and blue prints, when I gave detailed information over the phone, etc. I should have been stopped from the get go. Then, when you still came out, I should have been stopped when you saw it first hand. Yet, I still had to wait for the quote that never came, but was promised and then I had to be told no construction is done by you. YET, your website clearly states you work with a contractor for your construction. I am sure the cabinets are great and I wish we could have worked together. But this company needs to learn how to communicate efficiently and effectively. read more

This review is based on their customer service and poor communication. I was excited to see all the good reviews and decided to go to the showroom and get more information for our kitchen remodel. We went prepared and provided a detail diagram with all the measurements, did not want to waste anyone s time. We told them we only want the custom cabinet material but we dont need installation since we are currently working with our contractor and they can install for us. The lady told us that since this is fully custom cabinets, they only provide service with installation. We were okay with it and wanted to know the price. The lady said they will reply to us with a quote in 3 days because she has to run it by the owner. This is very understandable. So 3 days passed, a week passed... still no reply. I realized that they will never get back to us. I was like, okay maybe they are not interested in our project. So i called a month ago to get a quote for countertop slab. The same lady told me she would call me back in 5 minutes. And never get a reply back. This company is very unprofessional. I rather them telling me that they only want to work on certain projects, than promise to get back but no reply at all. How can i trust a company like that. This review is long overdue. I had my two bathrooms remodeled by Jamie's back in March. I was so overwhelmed looking for the right designer with the right crew. This was my first time so I was so skeptical with the entire process. I sent Jamie's a message through their website and I got a call a few hours later! (That was quick!) I didn't know how the process worked since it was my first time, Anna explained everything step by step and was so informative. I sent over my measurements and received a 3D design at no cost!! It was difficult for me to meet in the office due to my busy schedule, but they accommodated through email and phone. I sent over pictures with what I envisioned and they were extremely helpful with this process. John came over to do a double measurement and was amazing! He answered all my questions (I had a long list of questions!) When the construction began, I was a little worried about the project not finishing on time. I was pressed for time because I had guests staying over. Jamie's crew did everything great and understood my time-frame. John oversaw the project and was at the house every day! There were a few bumps during the process but John & Anna got it fixed very quickly. After all was done everything turned out beautifully! I was so thrilled. It was a great and enjoyable experience with JR and his team. I had a clear vision about how I want to remodel our bathroom. But it was really hard to find a right contractor to execute this vision. I interviewed several contractors. But, they all somehow tried to discourage my ideas. I was so frustrated because nobody was helpful at all. That is when I met JR. When I showed him a photo of bathroom showing the image I liked, he immediately said, "Let's make this bathroom! I like it! Beautiful!!" I was so happy when I heard this, because nobody was so enthusiastic about making effort to make what I wanted. When I was wondering where I can find the tiles I wanted to use, he just said, "Send the photo of the tile to Anna (his assistant; she was also a very helpful assistant!). We can find that for you." Everything was just like this. I just had to show him what I wanted, then he did the rest of the work. He said to me after everything is done, "Yuko, you did a good job! You designed this, and I just executed it." I had a vision, but it was JR who designed the details with professional experience and insights, and beautifully executed it using his people. The construction skills JR had were excellent, but what I liked the most about him was his honesty, professionalism, and easiness to talk to. There are not so many contractors you can truly trust. JR is the one. JR, thank you very very much!! I really like my new bathroom (and everyone who sees the bathroom says, "Wow!! Beautiful!!"). Earlier this year my kitchen suffered a flood that ruined my whole downstairs including my kitchen cabinets. I shopped around for cabinets and although I did not end up going through Jamie's cabinets I still wanted to comment that they were very courteous and professional in helping me with my needs. The showroom was great and the cabinets they sell are very nice and high-end looking. Anna helped me pick out a cabinet and Ravi came by to make measurements and I was very happy with their service in helping me. However I was unable to go with them since I was trying to follow a strict budget that my stingy insurance company gave me. As much as I wanted to go with Jamie's Kitchen Cabinets, I as a first-time homeowner and a Real Estate agent I had to forgo the great looking cabinets as it would not be the best investment for my starter home. Thanks again Jamie's cabinets for all your help, I will definitely contact you for my clients and for my future home when I have a bigger home and less budgetary and design constraints. read more

Dropped by here recently to get an estimate done on a full kitchen remodel (with a 60k budget) and he was rather expensive. Yes he came up with pretty good designs and has good ideas and taste, but I didn't find his prices to be anywhere competitive. He was probably 20% higher then anywhere else. The craftsmanship of his cabinets weren't all that great either. The shaker doors he sells are like 2 piece construction rather than 5 (a true shaker door has separate rails and stiles but his didn't). The doors that Home Depot carries are built way better. I found him a little arrogant and snooty, but maybe that's because he's a designer. He has a personal butler that serves you drinks and waits on him hand and foot always standing by at the ready with his hands politely folded. I found it neat and funny, but sort of felt bad for the guy. Had I went with him I'm sure the service would have been excellent as he has good attention to detail and appears to have his game in order. But I didn't think his pricing was all that great. Then again maybe it was because he knew my budget and figured I could afford it. read more
