We drove up in shite weather, non prime time and the place was empty for lunch. Rustic decor, with lots of old throwback items incorporated into the decor. Wife had the schnitzel, I had the reuben, we both shared the roesti and washed it all down with some new glarus. What could possibly be more Wisconsin than that? Delicious from start to finish, we will def be back for more.

Cheese Curds

Second time around does not disappoint. We had the same thing the pastetli with the roesti potatoes - my previous review stands. My mom had the prime rib sandwich. The size of that beef was basically a full dinner not a sandwich. The horseradish it came with has just the right bite. Prices are reasonable. I feel like I'm in Switzerland. What more can I ask for?

$9 vodka cranberry

Stopped in for a drink on a Friday before the dinner rush. We used to come here quite a bit over the years, but it's been a while. We asked to sit at the bar and sat behind the server stand. Unfortunately, the server repeatedly smacked into my mom's seat even though there was plenty of room. Wasn't a very comfortable vibe. We ordered a tap New Glarus beer and a vodka cranberry and were charged $17 ($8 and $9 respectively). When we asked to confirm, we were just told "tourist prices". Surprised we could even stop the bartender as he was busy tossing treats and ice cubes to a dog that was in the bar. I expect those prices in Milwaukee but not in New Glarus. The place is still plenty busy, even before dinner, but I'm not eager to go back considering that's how prices and service are like here these days.

$7 house salad

The single most unaccommodating restaurant in a 3 week roadtrip through WI. The waitress said the only vegetables in the entire restaurant were corn and pickled cabbage that day and that they'd removed the vegetable plate and couldn't do anything for me. The only option presented was a house salad. $7 for romaine lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 cucumber slices, 2 croutons, and 3 pieces of red onion. I get people come here for a slab of meat but in 2025 lets have an option or two for others

I was visiting New Glarus, and decided to dine in here. The menu was full of Swiss dishes. I started off with Cheese fondue. It was enough for 4-6, may be more if you are not a very cheese person. It was good. Roesti is a nice swiss twist on hash brown. It is a hashbrown pancake with a layer of cheese. Also was slightly oily. Perch filet sandwich was my favorite item though. Waitress voluntarily split it into 2 for us to share. Perch was fried crispy. There were some small bones though. Kids chicken strips and french fries were fried nice and crisp.

You go here for the Swiss fondue which was excellent! Plenty of bread and vegetables for dipping and reasonable price as well. Also, the wedge salad was good and you have your choice of a few house made dressings and I would recommend the ranch..very tasty. All New Glarus beers on draft so if you like the from this brewery, you will be pleasantly surprised. FYI, Staghorn Oktoberfest is now on draft which can be hard to find. Enjoy!

Pork Schnitzel

Wonderful staff that took care of my family. Our waitress tried getting our daughter to eat, and made sure to bring snacks for our baby. Another waitress even held our son for a few. The food wow. So delicious.

Pork Schnitzel Sandwich

The little Swiss themed restaurant gave a real good vibe. The server was very welcoming & she helped decide our dish. Her suggestion was really good. We went for the dinner specialty, a sandwich & hot chocolate. A special mention to their soup of the day, beef stroganoff. Oh my, one of the best we've tasted ever. The dinner specialty, Pastetli, was excellent. The puff was crunchy, yet melted in mouth straightaway. The sauce was really delicious. We tried their pork schnitzel sandwich and it was equally good.

I visited this restaurant with a friend for purely nostalgic purposes. My second home growing up was in New Glarus and wanted to visit a place that reminded me of visiting my grandparents. Highly recommend the Glarner Stube for an authentic Swiss style meal. We opted for a cheese fondue and shared a reuben and finished our meal with a perfect slice of hot chocolate cake! We got lucky to get a table as we arrived at 12:02 and the place was already busy! Wonderful food and service! Ask for DJ!

The Stube is a great place to have great food and drink while in New Glarus. Great service in an old world atmosphere.

I am no expert but they have the best fried cheese curds that I have ever had. Consider them a must.

We had an amazing meal last time we were there. The Rosti and the Wiener schnitzel were outstanding.

Okay, I've been convinced. Fritz and Frites is the BEST dinner restaurant in Galena!…read moreNot only is the food incredible, the service is out of this world and the vibes are truly *chef's kiss.* I came here for my birthday with some friends and our young kids (two 4 year olds and an infant.) From the moment we made our reservation, the staff was incredibly accommodating. By no means is this a typical "bring the kids" type of dining establishment, but sometimes parents just gotta do what they gotta do... and the staff at Fritz and Frites were truly so kind and accepting. The kids drew with crayons on the table paper cover and ate some delicious mac and cheese from the sides menu. They were as content as the adults were with their meals! Speaking of our meals, I ordered the Poulet Roti. An absolutely delicious roasted chicken dish, which I believe is the best chicken I've ever tasted! I can't wait for our next trip to Galena, just for another dinner at this wonderful place.

Small, but mighty menu with French and German cuisine. Wine and beer menu are also great. Service - always great. Even when we were there during Covid and they were behind, they kept us informed and even gave us a free dessert.
