Really nice "German" restaurant. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Food is very good and plentiful as it shares the kitchen with Come Back In. Been going here for many years and one of the original Stein Club members. That is the good news. Now the unfortunate- closing August 31. https://madison.com/life-entertainment/local/food-drink/essen-haus-come-back-in-closing/article_73154f06-393e-11ef-a2c6-7b6856e642ec.html Update on closing - https://madison.com/life-entertainment/local/food-drink/essen-haus-reopening-temporarily-auction/article_5eedf766-66fd-11ef-9015-a76582f87c69.html

Was planning to visit a Yelp restaurant and passed this beer garden that had a big crowd at picnic tables drinking steins and made a change of plans. When I walked up they were having an old fashioned cookout with ribs and Kraut, mashed with gravy and green bean casserole. $7 cash! Delicious. I washed it down with a $3 Bitburger tap. German beer is so good. Service was friendly and they cut me in on the stein club price. Well played amigos! BTW Madison is awesome

Great place to stop at if you like German food and drinks. They have a large selection of beers on tap and their food is good too. On Fridays they have live polka bands so stop on by and give this place a try.

Old, incredibly charming. Never had the food. Only the boot. Sad to see the haus go even if it isn't the spot I frequent most.

Most fun I've had at a restaurant in Madison....and that's sayin something! Live music, good food, on point service and beer in a huge glass boot. Watch the boot, it burps and is expensive if you break it (I know first hand). Definitely going back and bringing a bigger crew with me

This is my favorite bar in Wisconsin. The atmosphere is awesome with the staff dressed in German attire. Always has great live Polka bands. Great beer and always great service.

Stopped here before a badger game and decided to indulge in some German food. We love schnitzel. It turned out great but the spatzel was a little bit more dry what than I was expecting. I understand there different types but I like mine a little bit more creamy. Our server was very friendly and I thought it was very fun that the girls dressed up in German clothes. It's also very cool to look at all of the German themed art and beer glasses. I'm glad we got there when we did because it did get quite busy for a Saturday night. My only complaint was that our food came out fast and we weren't even finished with our appetizer before the meal was on the table.

Anywhere that will serve me a boot of beer gets five stars. They also have great pretzels.

The bartender assured us that their vegan options were incredible. MadisonTap features many local Wisconsin beers on tap. They seem to often rotate the beers and keep a solid selection. MadisonTap was spacious with bar seats, tables, and booths available. The design and decor were well thought out. The crowd seems to be young professionals in their mid-20s to early 30s. I don't recall the beers I got here but I do remember prices being ~$7-10 range mark. The bartender and owner place special emphasis on being vegetarian and vegan friendly. Even one of the cocktails used vegan butter. There was a single bartender when I visited but it was a bit slow. We had a great conversation and watched Christmas movies on the projectors. Overall, solid experience. 5/5. Favorited in Madison, WI.

We entered from the front of the building. It looks like they feature a different brewery every month. The interior of the bar was pretty classy and new. Their patio was very cool and spacious. A great patio for evening drinks! The live music was pretty good too. Can't speak to the food however, since we didn't eat there.

I had my first visit during Madison's Restaurant Week and everything was so delicious. The service was wonderful. The entree was a medium petite filet with a shrimp. Wow, I had no idea this place existed until a friend mentioned it. Madison is such a great place…read morefor a rooftop experience given that our buildings are generally lower than the Capitol and it is a lovely focal point. Alas, we have so few, and I'm so excited this concept opened! I came on a fall/winter evening, but definitely would love to come back in sunny outdoor weather. On the top floor of the Moxy hotel, Atico serves up a really lovely array of Mexican and Mexican-themed foods. They've got some really elevated entree options, but also have a host of street tacos. While their menu is a bit pricey (some were actually outrageous), the happy hour specials they had listed on the table were a great deal -- definitely would love to come back here for happy hour. I ordered 2 al pastor street tacos and a carne asada street taco. They're nicely sized and are decently full with meat. Onion and cilantro tops them off just like a street taco should be. I thought they were pretty tasty. I didn't love that the pineapple in the al pastor was chopped on top and was served cold (the pineapple, not the meat), but I still ate every ounce of both my tacos, so take my complaint with a grain of salt. My margarita was also good, I appreciated that they were willing to make it "up" instead of "on the rocks." Our server was very accommodating and able to answer questions. Overall, I don't know that the food is worth the price, but it would definitely be worth it on a rare occasion to enjoy the rooftop ambiance. The happy hour also solves for this conundrum. So, I'd certainly like to be back to Atico.
