There is a vending machine onsite but since the location is close to many eateries (chopt is next door) you don't have to worry about access. I had a great time with my stylist Lilian. Photos were on Yelp (11/19/2013 Yelp removed the photos of my hair before, during and after the service, presumably at the owners request). I've never seen a Yelp review where the option to add photos was removed so this was clearly done on purpose. The service was originally in July 2012. Photos are on my blog (yelp allows links in profiles). Just search Red Room. I so wanted to like OMHH Red Room Luxe Salon for my straight styles but unfortunately this natural salon just did not prove to be a positive experience. I had been checking out this natural hair salon (advertised as a "blow dry bar") for a while and met the owner, Debra, a few times, including at the African Street Festival at Commodore Barry Park, where I was given a sample of the herbal hair & body wash. She had natural hair (extensions) so again I thought I hit the jackpot. I mistakenly believe that women with natural hair know how to deal with my hair. I have been proven wrong time and time again. I had been wearing twist outs for a few weeks, trying out different products, and the twist out I wore to the salon was done with my own whipped shea butter and aloe mix. My hair was combed out a bit with a wide toothed comb (looked like a shower comb) and rinsed with warm water then washed, twice, with the same hair & body wash that I stated was drying to my hair the prior week. I suspect that the shea butter coating on my hair stopped it from acting as a clarifying shampoo. An OMHH herbal conditioner was used as well as an OMHH light oil and I was placed under a hood dryer for about 15 minutes. I had expected that Hair Rules product would be used in my hair since Debra mentioned several times when we spoke that she uses and likes the Hair Rules line, which is also sold at her shop. Instead she used her own brand, OMHH. I was NOT given the option to choose my own products from her collection and I was not given the option to use Hair Rules products. The conditioner was rinsed out and I was then placed back under the hood dryer to recline for a bit with loose hair. When I asked Debra about this technique, since I was getting a blow out, she said that she likes to remove some of the moisture from the hair before blow drying. I immediately became worried since I know it's more difficult to blow dry my hair once it's already dry i.e. Dominican blow outs on dried, roller set hair use a ton of heat to get my curly roots straight. My hair dries really fast. Although my hair was loose (not roller set) I went along with it to see how this dry before blow drying technique would work. During the blow dry no heat protectant was used; however, my hair was blown out on a cool setting for the majority of the blow out. There was no brush or comb attachment used - just a shower comb. I asked Debra about this and she said she does not like to use a comb attachment since it pulls too much on the hair - breakage presumably? I rarely lose hair when I do my blow out at home so I was unsure of this reasoning. Most salons blow out my natural hair with a brush or comb attachment to make it more smooth, which means less passes of the flat iron. The blow out was not comfortable at first. Debra did listen to me and was more gentle; however, I still was not pleased with the technique of trying to blow out dry natural hair. After the blow out my hair felt very dry, which is not normal for me after a blow out. I mentioned that my hair was looking rough and it felt dry and was told that next time I should get a steam treatment. There was a steamer in the corner near the wash basins. Debra stretched a section of my hair down to show me how much she thought should be trimmed, which was at least 1 inch. I said no, I was not willing to trim that much. We then got into a discussion about the knots in my hair, sections of hair that were not really knots at all but hair that had not been combed out well. She wanted to cut my hair up to the "knots". I explained that I have single strands knots since my small curls, some 1/8 of an inch, wrap around themselves and form tiny knots on individual strands. I told Debra that I rarely wear my hair straight so the single strand knots do not bother me. I then began to pull apart the "knotted" sections of hair to show Debra that it was just tangled hair that was not combed out. I did not feel that my hair required a 1 inch cut. I had not used heat in six months and for 3 of those months I was in twist extensions. My blow out looked like a fluffy afro from the 70s, not like a sleek salon blow out that was prepared for flat ironing. I even said that out loud that I had a 70s afro. When the flat ironing started, I was again worried. No heat protectant was used. I ended up leaving the salon without letting her finish. I washed, blew out and flat ironed my hair when I got home since I wanted to make sure it was not dama

I have been going to Glamvie for over 2 years now. I don't even know where to start! Everyone is just so friendly, so nice and always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. The customer service is just remarkable, I can always come in and unwind with a nice mimosa while waiting to do my hair. I've never been to a salon where it feels like family! There's always good laughs and times shared when I come in for my touch up. I have been going to Vlada for my color and cut but unfortunately she stopped coloring for a while. She has gotten me from red to dark brown to a honey ombre and I am completely obsessed. She never lets me leave feeling disappointed but always feeling so beautiful and happy. When I first started going to Vlada I had a bob cut and I thought my hair would never grow but in about a year it is down to my shoulders! I still cannot believe it most days. She really has hands of gold. I still go to her for my cuts and blowouts and refuse to go to anybody else! I have to also thank Rosa, the owner of the salon for helping me achieve the beautiful color that I have now. Before jumping in and coloring my hair, Rosa made sure to test a strand so I wouldn't be left with no hair. It took time and patience and slowly but surely we achieved the results I wanted and I could not be happier! Thank you Rosa for taking care of my hair. read more

I started going to Glamvie about a year ago. Many years ago I used to go to Rosa at Studio 19 in Brooklyn. One of my close friends found Rosa again and that is how I was introduced to Glamvie. I am so happy to have found Rosa again because she does incredible color and has an eye for what would look great on a person based on their skin and eye color. Rosa has always made me look and feel so beautiful, but since opening Glamvie, which feels so much like home, she is even more welcoming if that's even possible. By some miracle, I was also introduced to Vlada, thank god. Because of the coloring, cuts and blowouts that Vlada gives, I've never received more compliments on my hair. Everyone always asks me who does my hair and where do I get it done. I could go on forever about the incredible work Vlada, Rosa and other staff at Glamvie does, but I would be writing a book. I would also note that the staff goes above and beyond for each and every person. Being in Glamvie is like being home. Thank you everyone at Glamvie for making me feel so beautiful. Glamvie is a very professional, friendly and accommodating salon. As soon as you walk through the door, the girls greet you with a smile, hang up your coat for you and offer you something to drink; can it get any better than that?! I heard about Vlada through a friend of a friend and I could not be any happier! I have really dry and dull hair and I explained to Vlada that I wanted something that would make me pop. Instead of agreeing with me, she told me what look would fit better with my face and what would be a safer option & I am so glad she took the time out to tell me this instead of just doing what I wanted because I did not even know what I wanted. She put a mask in my hair and after that we got started. Once the blow dry was complete, I could not believe my eyes, I just felt like a brand new person and looked incredible. Vlada is one the sweetest, most talented & most professional stylists I have been to and I cannot wait to come back. Thank you Vlada for saving my hair; you are a goddess! read more

Let me start off by saying that Sanela is amazing! I, just like many of you, have always struggled trying to find that perfect stylist or salon that would give me the perfect color/cut. That search ended 3 years ago when I sat in Sanela's chair at Glamvie. She is the only stylist I trust to cut, style and color my hair - she never disappoints. When I want to change up my look, she lets me explain to her what I am looking for but also informs me if it is a style/color that would suite me. She does a wide variety of hair styles. She has straightened and curled my hair. She has also put hair extensions in for me. She is great at blow outs and updos. She has trimmed my hair and she has also chopped it off shoulder length. I always receive compliments on my hair after an appointment with her. She often gets very busy (especially on the weekends) so try to book your appointment in advance! Sanela is not a stylist, she truly is an artist. read more

Vlada is amazing!!!! I have been coming to here for about a year now and every time she gives me EXACTLY what I want. The color she does is AMAZING and cuts my hair always to fit what I am looking for. My last colorist up and left the last salon I was going to without notice and I didn't know what I was going to do. My mom recommend me to go to Glavie which is close to my house. All of the staff are professional and helpful. When I went in for the first time about a year ago I told them that I wanted a colorist not just a person who colors hair, because that is what I had in the past and ruined my hair. They recommend for me to see Vlada and she was a PERFECT match. She gets to know her clients and gets to know what they want. She makes recommendations which are appropriate for the individual client and not just to push something onto them. If you are looking for a great stylist/colorist/salon go to Glavie and see Vlada!!!! read more

I also had my hair layered and blown out. I liked that they made me get a conditioning treatment after. Because when bleaching your hair it gets very rough and knots easily. They were very professional. I didnt wait at all any further then my appt time. I've used yelp for years and I loved Glamvie so much that I'm finally writing a review! I'm moving to Colorado in 6 days and decided to have a makeover done because I haven't seen my boyfriend in almost 4 months. Rosa and Vlada made my hair look amazing! Rosa did balayage on my hair and really helped me when I had trouble deciding whether to go lighter or a bit darker through out. She was also very sweet and gave me a complimentary scalp treatment when she noticed my hair was very thin (lost lots of hair after having a baby). Vlada cut my hair. I showed her a picture of how I wanted it to look and I couldn't be happier. I am a New Jersey born and bread girl who recently moved to New York. When it was time to find a new hair salon, it was a bit painful as you never know who to trust. My first appointment was with the owner of the salon. I explained to her what my concerns were and how I change my hair each summer to go lighter. I basically gave her all control and trust and I'm so glad I did! It turns out perfectly. Yesterday I went back to change for the summer and go lighter. I showed my stylist a photo of my hair from the summer before and a photo from the internet that I liked and again said I trust you to do what's best. Needless to say, I am beyond excited with my hair!!! It is by far the best balayage I've ever had! I think it's safe to say I have found my new hair home! read more

What a relief to finally found someone that you can trust 99% with your hair. My hair is super thick, long and curly and usually took hours to highlight, cut and blow. I was recommended to Sanela at GlamVie and I am so grateful this blonde bombshell can do my hair in less than 4 hours (again highlight, cut, and blow). I am sure she was dreading doing my hair once she saw it but she made the experience memorable! She is young, vibrant and dedicated. You could tell she is a perfectionist because working with curly thick hair is not an easy task. The salon is modern, soho type and very welcoming. I've been a loyal client of "Delaqua Salon" for years and have always had great experiences, which…read moreis why this review is so disappointing to write. I recently went in for a Brazilian bikini wax with Lorena, and it was, without question, one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. From the moment the appointment started, things felt off. She repeatedly opened and closed the treatment room door during my service, which made the experience feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. I'm used to being waxed by Irina, who always takes the time to prep the skin with powder, checks in throughout the appointment, and makes sure I'm as comfortable as possible. This experience was the complete opposite. Lorena was extremely rough and repeatedly pulled wax strips over the same sensitive areas again and again. The pain was unbearable. She apologized several times during the appointment, which made it clear that even she knew something wasn't going well. When I left the salon, I was in significant pain. It genuinely felt like the top layer of skin had been removed in parts of the treated area. I've had Brazilian waxes for years and understand that some discomfort is normal, but this was far beyond anything I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, this experience has completely eroded my confidence in booking with her again. I've also heard from others that this isn't the first time clients have had concerns about her services, which makes my experience even more concerning. I'm sharing this review because I've always had positive experiences at Delaqua Salon and hope management takes this feedback seriously. Loyal clients deserve consistency, professionalism, and proper technique--especially for such a sensitive service.

And they had a few different complimentary drink options.

Maria was warm, attentive, and followed my exact words! She told me she needs me to have all the hair for the wedding and she delivered. The salon was also clean and the workers were so friendly! I highly recommend versus salon and will be coming back after the wedding for a more dramatic cut.

I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. My experience was extremely disappointing. The…read morestaff came across as immature, unprofessional, and dismissive toward paying customers. Instead of providing good customer service, they seemed more interested in talking among themselves than addressing customer concerns. What was even more frustrating was bringing my concerns to the owner, Valerie, only to feel completely ignored. Rather than listening to legitimate customer feedback or attempting to resolve the situation, she appeared to defend her employees without considering my experience. My interactions with Paige and the rest of the staff left a very negative impression. As a paying customer, I expected to be treated with respect, but that was not my experience. I won't be returning, and I cannot recommend this business based on how I was treated.
