Gorgeous job on my new fireplace! They also painted and created a new wall and door in a hallway. And last but not least, Gary and his crew came back to do touch ups even when the projects were completed. I would highly recommend. On paper I didn't appreciate the complexity of creating the mantle/step or putting up the marble. Gary's subcontractors for wood and stone were amazing-- truly master craftsmen. Thank you! read more

We just had our dream kitchen put in. This was an incredible transformation. Gary had estimated from 3-4 weeks and it was finished within 4 weeks. I appreciated how his crew worked hard and paid attention to details. Gary made sure every aspect of the job was taken care of. He is hard working and reliable. He kept his word and did a superb job. It is nice to find a contractor you can trust. read more

We recently completed a room addition and partial remodel, including the construction of a master bathroom and a large deck with pergola. After meeting with several contractors, we decided to hire GK Construction for the job. Gary was extremely professional, his quote was very reasonable, and he even helped us find an architect at a great rate to help with zoning, planning and permits. Gary and his crew completed each phase of the construction on time and on budget. Unlike many contractors, Gary often works alongside his crew to complete needed work. All of his crew were professional, courteous and did excellent work. The few times that things went wrong (like when one of the tiles in our new shower developed a hairline crack a few days after installation), Gary and his crew fixed the issues immediately. Even after the main construction was complete, Gary went above and beyond to make sure everything was completed properly. The doors on one of the new closets, for example, were custom ordered and didn't arrive until months after the main construction was finished. Once the doors arrived, we called Gary, and he came in and installed them himself and even helped patch and paint some drywall in another part of our house (that wasn't related to the original construction), all at no additional charge. Gary / GK Construction is a rare breed: a great craftsman who works at a reasonable price. read more

We had a welded pipe fail, and Gary and his plumber came over and fixed the issue immediately. Very weird break and difficult access to pipes. He tried various solutions until he found one that worked. This is 14 months after he put in our bathroom. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! read more

Gary and his team installed new patio sliders in our kitchen and we are very happy with the finished project. He provided a fair bid for the job and completed it on budget. They kept the location clean and quiet - we were able to continue working from home during construction. The installation is well finished inside and out, with all details addressed. This is our second project with Gary and we will be working with him again soon. He takes pride in his work, and it shows. read more

Gary was easy to work with. He and his workers showed up on time, and were responsive to communication. He was flexible and accommodating when I made a last minute change to the door I wanted. He made the exchange, and even called me from the store when the item I wanted wasn't the same price as the one I was exchanging, just to make sure he had the right one. The final cost matched what he quoted me, they finished early, and the door looks great! I'll be hiring them again for future projects. read more

I like another recent reviewer experienced GK General as being a complete time waster. About two months ago, I scheduled an appointment for the general contractor, Gary, to come to my house and view a project. He confirmed for a specific date and time, but showed up (without calling) over two hours later than anticipated. We were still at the property, so we spent about an hour with him showing him the project. Gary promised he would get a quote to us in a few days; however, we never heard from again. The kicker is recently, my boyfriend scheduled an appointment with GK General (again), not realizing this was the company I had previously scheduled with a couple months ago. Gary came to the property a second time. When I saw him I said, "You came here before, but never sent the quote." Gary completely pretended like he had never been to my house before saying,"I don't think so, and I don't remember." Like fools, we let him walk the property again. He once again said he would get a quote to us. He never sent the quote. And wait, THEN.... he called me... out of the blue... I guess by accident... thinking I was someone else... SIGH... I (like any other person with a shred of common sense) do not have time for this foolishness. GK General = Time.Waster read more

Gary is honest, trustworthy and reliable. He responded to me right away. I live outside the service area slightly but he still came out and was giving me a fair bid. Unfortunately my job requires some work that is slightly beyond what he does and I appreciated his frankness. I am definitely going to call him back to do other work on our house as it needs other work. He was quick to point out things he saw, some of which we heard before and I really appreciated how he explained why something was a code violation from the contractor who did the work before - people we bought the house from. I'm very grateful. Wish I used him as an inspector!! read more

Quality, Affordable, Quick - You can have all three with Gary and GK Construction! Gary gave me a fast, very reasonable quote and followed through on all he promised! He's honest, cares about doing a quality job, and was very responsive to any questions I had. Typically, I read Yelp reviews, but don't give them. Gary was such a good old fashioned straight shooter and since the finished wall, sliding barn door, and closet behind with sliding doors exceeded my expectations, I had to write a review. I highly recommend Gary. read more

Since we've bought our house 5 years ago, my family and I have done a lot of work inside and outside the house. GK constructions have been one of the top contractors we've come across. My initial conversation with them was very pleasant, they set up an inspection-walk through right away and began work. Basically, they began on time, completed the work on time and stayed in the budget that was discussed (which almost never happens with others). My family was extremely impressed by all the work that was done in such a short time. I've recommended them to other friends and I'm sure they will be as impressed as we were. Give them a try if you want honest guys, who work hard and do affordable and outstanding job. -I realize I sound like an infomercial, but they are that good- read more

Gary is an awesome human being! Knowledgeable, kind and professional. The service was just right for the affordable price point he offered. Another business, no lie, wanted to charge me $19K for the same work. Gary and his crew were on time and efficient! They work fast! They completed my project in less than two days...boom! Done! My floors look so good! Admittedly, my home is 107 years old so they had a couple obstacles they had to tackle. Gary went on headstrong and did a great job. I would highly recommend them and I will be reaching out to Gary for future jobs. read more

We sourced and called GK General Construction two Fridays ago. They told us they would come by the next Wednesday evening at 5:30 to meet with us both and measure for a quote. I have 3 preschool age children, my husband works 70 hours a week, AND after returning from a vacation we had to have the kid's bathroom entirely ripped out with one day's notice due to a leak that had caused mold. My point: we are tired, busy parents who needed GK to be straight with us. It would have been an easy gig for them to score - promptly paid by the insurance check. Unfortunately, they never showed. We are not aware of having received any communication from them at all since they stood us up. Verdict: 1 star for bothering to answer the phone to us in the first place. read more

I can't say enough good things about Gary's work. He's responsive, a good communicator, and in the end the work is just so so good!

Gary did a bedroom bathroom addition on my house and my experience with him and the rest of his crew was overwhelmingly positive. I got quotes and met with several construction companies before deciding on GKG. Not only did Gary give me the best price and shortest time estimate he was also the most approachable, frank, and available. He worked with me every step of the way and was very communicative when decisions needed to be made and minor issues arose. He kept on his time estimate and on the proposed budget and I'm super happy with the end result of the work. I have highly recommended Gary to all my friends with construction needs and I would definitely hire him again. read more

Gary was very easy to reach and came for immediate assistance when a part of the place was leaking. He provided a solution and started working on it very quickly. He and his men were trustworthy as there were a couple times that I needed to leave the place for a while to run some errands, and I trusted my key to Gary-- and I did not regret it. The best thing I like about Gary is that not only is he fast in terms of working, but he is also very fast to respond and through this I believe he reliable. I would definitely recommend GK Construction's services to people! read more

I came in to update photos of my review, and found that my original review was removed. Not sure why, but I'll go ahead and provide an "update" review here. After living in my remodel for about a year, I'm still completely satisfied with the work Gary/team performed. Everything has held up very well. I discovered a minor issue recently (relating to work performed by one of Gary's subcontractors), and Gary was just as quick to respond/address as he was a year ago. The issue was fixed the very next day. You can't beat that level of accountability and ownership. Updated/current pictures are attached.. read more

Gary from GK General Construction truly made our kitchen dream come true! He made everything we envisioned into reality, and the best part is, he made it as budgeted and as scheduled. We truly liked Gary from the very beginning and felt off the bat that we could really trust him with our renovation. We received about 5 other quotes, and Gary was definitely one of the lowest bids. His prices are reasonable, but don't be fooled because the quality of his work is top-notch. I was so nitpicky about everything (I mean MAJOR), but Gary was so patient with me and made sure everything was executed as we instructed. Everyone in his crew (from his electricians to his plumbers to his carpenters to his painters) made sure we were happy with what was done. We also liked Gary's honesty and keen sense of style. If he didn't think an idea of ours would look right, he would always let us know and give other suggestions. For example, he suggested we put trimmings on the edge of our backsplash, but being the cheapo that I am, I initially didn't want to spend an extra $70 to buy trimming for him to install (free of charge). But I'm so glad he was able to convince me because the finished backsplash looks so amazing with the trimmings. And when we had family over, it was actually one of the things they noticed. They were like, wow they did this too?! I would say definitely worth the $70 lol! And I know this doesn't matter to a lot of people, but Gary always came to work looking professional. Clean cut and well dressed, which I think is important since we were going to trust this guy to "style" our kitchen. But the #1 thing we really admired about Gary is his integrity and perfectionism. For example, on the last day of the renovation, the special order stainless steel outlet we ordered from Home Depot was not delivered yet, and I failed to purchase one less pull for our kitchen cabinets. I told Gary no worries and that we would just install it ourselves, since it was super easy. We paid the guy our last payment and called it a day. We were so happy with everything already! But Gary gave me a call the next day and said he wanted to come back and put sealer on our granite to ensure its durability (free of charge!). And since we received our outlet that day and we bought the extra pull, he said he would install that too. This all doesn't seem much, but remember that we already fully paid this guy, and he still freely offered to come back and do these little extra things for us. To us, that's integrity! Oh and he warranties his work up to 1 year, so that's comforting. But I believe this is standard for licensed contractors. My husband and I are first-time renovators, and after hearing so many horror stories with unreliable contractors, we really felt blessed to have found such a dependable contractor that exceeded our expectations! We want to add a whole bathroom to our house within the next couple years (since our house is an uneven 4bed/2bath, so we want to make it 4bed/3bath), and there is no doubt in our mind that we want to hire Gary again to complete this very big project. We can't thank you enough Gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Gary and his crew did a great job renovating my shower/tub area. Gary's bid for the job was the best I received and the work got done in the time frame he agreed to. The finished job looks great. He even came back to install a missing shower door piece (manufacturer's fault) after he had already been paid and could have disappeared into the wind. I highly recommend and will be using him again for future reno work. read more

Thank you Gary for our beautiful backyard, such a nice job done. Everything was professionally organized and on time.

After dealing with a terrible Contractor, we used Yelp to find one that we thought would work out for us... We found Gary who did our landscape renovation. He arrived to our house on time and was incredibly professional. Provided a quote on the spot and let me say that his price was very reasonable. I was more than happy with the renovation. His crew was on time and extremely professional. The work was completed even before the projected time frame which is a rarity in the industry! There were heavy rains and storms during Christmas and new year and my windows were leaking. It's only been a year since I put those new windows in. Turns out my previous contractor did a terrible job caulking. Also the draining pipe for the house is not up-to-code. Gary came on and pointed out all the problems. They replaced the roof and corrected all the mistakes my previous contractor made within 4 days. Wish I have found Gary earlier!
