I got about five bids for my whole-house remodel, and Creative Innovation Developers stood out for their great communication and solid references. Their pricing was comparable to others, but the ability to visit their in-progress projects gave me confidence. I'm very very particular, and while no remodel is perfect, Creative worked to bring my vision to life. My advice: plan everything in detail beforehand--or hire a designer. To save costs, I handled all the design myself while working full-time, which was highly stressful. Having everything mapped out helps avoid delays, last-minute changes, or compromising on your vision. I appreciated that Creative didn't nickel and dime me for small changes, and when a gas leak was discovered (due to careless cabinetry work), they fixed it--and more (we found more leaks during the repairs)--without extra charges. Despite delays beyond their control, they completed the full renovation in about six months--from pulling permits to final inspection. Major work included a new kitchen, three bathrooms, tile flooring throughout, interior paint, a new electrical panel, and whole-house LED recessed lighting. We recently completed a renovation project at the end of 2023 that included our master bathroom, master bedroom and closet, along with the addition of a powder bathroom. Our general contractor was Shlomi, and the project manager was Jordan. The overall timeline for the project was as expected, which we appreciated. I intentionally waited several months to write this review to see how the craftsmanship held up over time, especially since we were given a one-year warranty. After living with the renovations for a while, we feel confident giving the company a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. The project kicked off quickly once we signed the contract, which was great. However, one area that could use improvement is communication--specifically, around the timing of when certain materials (like flooring, tubs, etc.) were needed. We had a specific design vision in mind, which required sourcing items beyond standard retailers like Home Depot, Lowe's, and Wayfair. While Shlomi and Jordan did make an effort to help us find what we needed, we ultimately found our vanity on our own. There were also some communication challenges around coordinating payments, particularly with our schedules since both my spouse and I work full time. It would've been helpful to have more streamlined coordination on that front and stick to it. As for the craftsmanship--many elements really stood out. The lighting and tile work were beautifully done and have held up very well. On the other hand, the paint job on the bathroom doors wasn't quite up to the same standard; it required a second coat to look decent. Lastly, while this company executes well, their design offerings are somewhat limited. So if you have a strong personal vision or more custom tastes, be prepared to take a more hands-on role in the design process. These guys really show up and get things done. We worked with them from start to finish on a garage demo, new ADU project, as well as a new driveway, front porch renovation, and new front walkway. This was a long set of projects, but they were transparent and available the whole way through. Ben told us that once Glendale gave us the permits, CID would really move, and he wasn't kidding. Any time we weren't waiting on the city, the guys were working on the project. The fact that they have their own architect made the beginning of the project run so much more smoothly than the horror stories we've heard from friends. We chose them because every other company we talked to about the project couldn't give us a solid price, and Creative Innovation seemed to have it figured out. They were great about working around the particulars of our site, with a large oak tree that we didn't want to damage, we appreciated how careful they were with that. We had some miscommunication issues occasionally, but it was a long project with a lot of moving parts, so an occasional miscommunication isn't surprising, and Ben and Ozzy always fixed any issue we had promptly. This review is a long time coming. We recommend Ben, our project manager Ozzie, and CID to all of our friends and neighbors who ask, because everything about our experience with them was the opposite of the horror stories that we heard from our friends about general contractors. Price - Ben gave us a very detailed estimate of price for our project (which was major) at the very beginning, and stuck to it. He was super transparent about when things were due, and how much we would owe at every step. No hidden costs. Amazing. Architect - you know the old 'my architect won't work with a certain city' (in our case, Glendale) thing? Or 'my architect and GC hate each other' thing? Didn't happen for us, because Ben has his own architect working for him. WHAT?? Honestly this was one of the many key reasons we picked CID, and one of the reasons our project went so well. No conflict, no design miscommunications, no disagreements on what should go where. The Glendale thing - so there are a few cities in LA that are notorious for being difficult to work with...Glendale (where we live) is one of them. I don't know how, but we were never delayed significantly by permitting or inspection issues. I think this boiled down to a couple things: Ben and Ozzie are organized and know the process really well. They can time things perfectly, and also know how to efficiently manage what is being worked on and when so that if one area is waiting for an inspection/permit, progress is still being made in another area. Quality - see pictures. We got to pick all the details of what we wanted, and got to say what we wanted in our redesign. We love our house Communication - Ben and Ozzie were always accessible and responsive. Ozzie speaks like 1,000 different languages (clearly exaggerating, but it's a lot), which is really helpful as a PM. A couple things got lost in translation between us, Ben, Ozzie, and the folks who came to do the work, but that is to be expected with such a large project. Timing - they got started on the project right away, and were done by our deadline (when our old lease was up). The one issue we encountered was with one of the vendors...they were a bit subpar. But every other vendor we used through Ben was amazing and kind. Also, when Ben found out the subpar vendor wasn't on top of things, he intervened and they shaped up real quick XD All in all, we highly recommend CID. Ben and Ozzie were honest, transparent, and communicative. Honestly the best tell is that we are still friends, still text them for recommendations of vendors, and will absolutely be using them for "phase 2" of work on our house, whenever that may happen!! read more

When we started looking for contractors to renovate our two bathrooms. we interviewed at least four to five potential contractors to compare who would be our best choice for the project. For sure, Creative Innovation Developers (CID) is absolutely not the most budget one, in fact it is the most expensive one from the contractors we discussed with :) We still went ahead with CID because Shlomi came back the next day to provide us a 3D design of the new proposed bathrooms, prior providing us the quote. Shlomi provided us contacts, someone who can remove our tiles, apparently one of our bathrooms' tiles have "Hazard Lead" and required specialized professional to remove these tiles. He was pretty up front explaining all the different costs, what is included and what is not included (for example, permit fees, costs to remove the special tiles). Demolishing, putting up drywall, hot mop, installing tiles on walls and floor are extremely efficient. We had professionals coming and working every day of the week (there were some odd weekends that they came and work), it was pretty exciting to see the whole lifecycle of transforming old bathrooms into new bathrooms. There is nothing in life that could be executed smoothly and flawlessly of course. During consultation, we did request to have some of the doors to be widen and the toilet to be relocated from one side to the other side of the bathroom. During construction, widening a particular door proved to be impossible due to the support beam is in the way. The toilet couldn't be relocated due to other reasons. This is when the whole team did actually come and work together and looked for alternative solutions. I want to express my gratitude and really thank Jordan and his team (Ruben, Jesse, Ricardo and other professionals) for their dedication in finally getting these two bathrooms to be completely transformed. Finally, I also want to thank Josue for painting all the rooms and put final perfect touch up. The whole process took about 11 months to complete the 570 sq ft dwelling from receiving the permits from the city. Before that time we had spent about 6 months in planning and revising the plans to fit our needs, and the rest was waiting for our city to approve, which Montebello is notorious for being difficult to work with. What went well: communication was easy, phone calls and texts were answered promptly. Of course in huge projects there are always hiccups but they were corrected immediately. Others we dismissed because they just didn't seem trust worthy (call it a mother's intuition.) long story short, i explained to Ben, the owner, that I had been down the road with other contractors and believe that trust is my number one priority. We could not have had a better experience with Creative Innovation Developers. Ben and Ozzie are amazing to work with. We contacted several contractors to get quotes for building a sunroom. Most of them didn't even ask what we were looking to do, they just came in and started telling us about what they would want to do to our house. Ben came in and listened to what we wanted to do. The hardest part of a home renovation is putting your trust and money in a contractor you have just met. Most of us don't have ties into the industry and have to take a leap of faith. I can honestly say we could not be any more pleased than we were with Creative innovation Developers. They were referred to us through friends who had just used them for a kitchen remodel and were more than thrilled with their results. We worked with Ben who was there with us every step of the way. He kept the project moving and always had an open ear for any changes in design that we would throw at him. Communication was excellent. Ben was reachable almost anytime, and timelines and expected work flow schedules were always relayed to us, so we had a good sense of what was going to happen next. There was zero upselling. When it came to picking materials there was never pressure to pick one thing over the other. Always that we should just consider our own tastes and budget. As I worked from home through the entire remodel I met all the people coming in to do work and I can honestly say they were all great. I don't know a lot about how much these projects should cost. But speaking with a lot of friends who have remodeled, or are in the process, the cost was very fair and reasonable. We had them come out for a quote for a couple of different projects at our house. They were on time and polite, but a red flag went up when I was only given a ballpark quote of "about $5k - $6k." I asked them to send me an estimate for each of the projects and they told me that "contractors don't send estimates, we aren't your homeowners insurance" and all he was willing to give me was a verbal quote. I have never had anyone refuse to give an estimate in writing before... The second red flag came when I asked them about installing a dishwasher in my kitchen. I suggested a placement, but they told me that placement would be very expensive, so "good news, you shouldn't spend that much money on a dishwasher, so I'm saving you money by telling you not to do it." They offered no other ideas for other placements or work arounds. They simply said it was too expensive to put it in. Thought that was really strange, because our kitchen is small, but there are some various options besides the one I suggested. The third red flag was when they tried to pressure me to make a decision within 24 hours. Twice the guy said that I should let him know if we were moving forward by the next morning. Why the rush?? Ben came out and gave me a lot of great advice -- free of charge and without concern of whether or not I was going to hire him.
