Oh my goodness I've been here on two separate occasions now and I love this place first. I came here for Valentine's Day dinner and another time for brunch if possible I do recommend getting a reservation but for the brunch occasion I waited probably 45 minutes for a table of five on a Saturday without a reservation. The inside is SUPER cute with floral decor all over. They even have a section to do DIY bouquets/custom order. Brunch Black sesame latte +espresso- 5* sooo good and creamy. Not too sweet and nice amount of black sesame flavor. Better than some other black sesame lattes i've had in other cafes but it did take some time for it to come Uni pasta - 5* also amazing! Creamy garlicky Uni sauce over perfectly cooked spaghetti. Honestly had a lot of Asian pasta places. I worry about them over cooking the pasta, but this was perfect. It had just enough sauce and rich seafood flavor too and cheese Creme brûlée French toast- 3* the flavors were those were good but I kind of hoped for something crunchy. It was reminiscent of a cinnamon roll but more custard . Maybe im just not a big fan of sweets, everyone else seemed to really like it. We recently came for Friday lunch with a group of 10 and had a table to ourselves. Once our entire party was present, we were seated with little wait. We were given 2 iPads to order from, which I think is a new system since the last time I came more than half a year ago. Staff was very friendly, attentive and quick. Bc of the size of our party and some of the group ordered soufflé pancakes, the food did come at different times but that was all good, bc we were able to share. Food looked fantastic and tasted pretty great too! I ordered the creamy uni pasta, which came with a thinner sauce than I remember but I think was better for the entire dish (I didn't feel like I over-ate and didn't feel like I was overwhelmed by too much creaminess/oiliness). This place look so beautiful. The workers here are nice and friendly. The restroom needed some attention. This place really love roses. Got to try some dishes family style. The LA Galbi Omurice was so good in flavors with the sauce not being salty, but the kalbi sauce was kind of salty. US Wagyu Steak with Cheese Dip was so good that the steak melts in your mouth with flavorful of goodness. Cheese-Stuffed Hamburg Steak was so delicious. My friend suggested this place for lunch. Was excited to try it based on other yelp reviews. The restaurant from the outside did not impress but once inside it was like a floral tea garden. It was elegant and lovely. They served both breakfast and lunch items. Our server was attentive and friendly. You can order from the tablet on the table or you can get asssitance from the server. Since it was our first time here, we had some questions and also some modification to the menu items, we used our server to place our orders. The food was a bit disappointing in taste. Presentation was beautiful and the butters used was really flavorful. A little on the pricey side but for the ocassional girlfirend lunch, it was OK. We ordeered breakfast items for our lunch. Visited on a Monday during lunch hours and it was busy, but luckily no wait. The inside is spacious with beautiful pink interior. Bunch of flowers and nice photo ops. There is a flower boutique inside and you can buy flowers too. Very unique concept! We ordered the loco moco, tonkatsu, and lemon garlic lobster pasta. My loco moco was good but the sauce was a bit on the sour side and came cold. The rice to meat ratio was fine, but definitely wish the gravy was hot too. The Korean tonkatsu was good portion and came with Mac salad plus a salad. It was alright, wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. Again, similar to the gravy for the loco moco with a slight sour taste but nothing too great. The lemon garlic pasta was definitely the best item, but portion was tiny. It was a simple sauce and pasta dish, nothing too standout but did enjoy the sauce. Overall, I'd potentially be back for the ambience but not necessarily the food. The service was good and plenty of employees on the floor. Our tonkatsu came out almost 10 minutes later than the pasta and loco moco which wasn't ideal. First time here it's like Asian fusion brunch restaurant. You have all the classics of brunch items but with an Asian twist. You can also buy bouquets here. Finally got around to trying Giwa, a super hot and trendy brunch spot located in Santa Clara. There's always a line out the door during the weekends, and I've only just gotten the chance to give them a try! It's very pink inside with a small flower shop, and it feels like a girl's dream come true. They also have more private rooms near the back for any bigger parties or groups. We came for brunch on a Monday and got seated right away. We decided to get the katsu and banana toffee dutch baby. The katsu came out fairly quickly, but we waited about 20-25 min for the dutch baby after our first dish came out. The pork was well-seasoned and I really enjoyed the pasta salad. It also comes with a side of pickled radish to help cut the grease. The dutch baby came out and I enjoyed the caramelized and torched bananas, and the pancake itself wasn't too sweet. I thought both items were just mid. Nothing special to write home about. The ambiance definitely makes the dining experience more special, and I'm happy to have gotten to try Giwa once! read more

Giwa's cuisine now tastes like mediocrity. Be warned that the quality took a massive fall since their soft opening a year ago. I was once blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. I'm sad to say that present-day Giwa is a shadow of its former self. I used to recommend this place, but I no longer can. In the past two weeks, I've tried the tangerine tea, napolitan pasta, loaded burger, yuzu salmon benedict, chicken and waffle, and omurice. The benedict in particular is much worse than it used to be. The burger is extraordinarily average, and the napolitan pasta tasted like a ready-to-eat TV dinner. It's sad that Giwa seems to have relied on its old reputation and stopped caring about maintaining quality. With so much demand, I suppose there's little incentive to improve. Still, I would much rather pay more than get this. The service here is also notoriously bad, which I never really minded since I've always believed food over service. However, with the food being what it is now, a pleasant meal with good service is the least I can ask for, and you won't get that here. The service is brusque, and our table was rushed to leave before we had even finished eating. We asked for more time, but they came back and put boxes on our table anyway, even though it was already full, which made it even more cramped. I hope the chefs and team at Giwa can dial back time and return to what initially made them so special. They truly were a standout gem in the bay area, and they could still be if they continued to prioritize their own craft. read more

Made a reservation but they didn't really check today Tuesday at 6pm. Stark contrast to heavy traffic brunch rush. Offered us a table we didn't really like but they didnt seem to notice body language or care we were looking around. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the uni pasta along with the souffle pancake that takes 30 mins to make so u need to put it in same time as ur meal. The fried chicken is flavored like korean fried chicken (yaegyoeom sauce i think) it was tasty but a lil mushy outside and hard to cut, comes with slaw sauce inside too. The uni pasta was pretty good. Creamy enough but not as much as EMC which is my fav. A little uni as well. Forgot to take a pic. The souffle was our favorite thing! I've been here for brunch before and it was quite yummy. I came here for dinner in December for a friends bday and I was disappointed. I did not like the katsu. The rice was hard and I didn't like the sauce on the katsu as well :/ My friend has never been and wanted to try it Friday night. I figured might as well to try the other items on the menu. It was quite busy inside and we were able to get seated quickly. There were so many options to chose from so I was getting a bit indecisive. I feel like my main judgement is that if you like going places to take Instagram photos and you only pick at your food, then this is definitely a place for you. Otherwise if you are trying to eat for taste or value, I think you should definitely look elsewhere. The drinks are okay, we got the Ube matcha a bit too sweet for my taste. I got uni pasta and my friends got the benedicts. I don't think any of it tasted actually good. For my pasta, it just had a really strong fishy taste that I couldn't get over. I didn't finish it and I'm kinda sad this cost $34! For the benedicts, I was not really impressed either. My friend reported (and I agree) that the patties have no flavor at all. It's like eating bland meat masked by sauce flavors. But the pictures look really good. The layout and ambiance is super chic and cool so definitely it's a worthy candidate for your ig feed. So I think the judgement call is based on your priorities. Came in on a Sunday around 10:30am. It was quite packed! I wish they had someone at the front greeting people and letting people know the sign in process because some girls were standing right at the front of the check in desk and I didn't know I had to sign up on waitlist. Regardless, we waited about 15 minutes and got seated. They have interesting iPad ordering, but we found it easier to order with the server. I really wanted to try this place out for awhile now and we did on Sunday a little after brunch. We got there around 4:50 and was seated immediately. We were initially given the brunch menu but was also offered the dinner menu. This was honestly when everything started going wrong. We asked her for the dinner menu and it took her 10 minutes to bring it to our table. I believe our server was Ester and I don't know if they were just short staffed but she just did not handle her tables accordingly. A group of five people literally took so much of her time because they couldn't figure out where to seat and she was allowing them to go back and fort in figuring out which table they wanted. Honestly, she was focused on the larger table side of the restaurant and totally forgot about the smaller tables on the other side which was very frustrating not only to us but also for 2 or 3 other tables that have been either waiting for their bill or is waiting to get served. So we ordered the Dawn Violet Ade which was honestly really good and not too sweet. We then ordered the calamari that had amazing breading and amazing dipping sauce. The calamari itself was very crunchy which was a great texture so I highly recommend it. After we ordered, the appetizer and my entree came really fast so I thought everything was going to look up from here on out. I ordered the creamy uni pasta. The pasta is fishy but tasty. I highly recommend adding the scallops but I highly recommend this dish and this is definitely an acquired taste. My boyfriend ordered the double double burger with aioli sauce. This is a wagyu burger and it was actually really good when we eventually got it. I got my food and appetizer right away, but the burger took 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen. I don't know why but we waited for my boyfriends food for way too long for a burger. So I don't know if our server messed up while putting in the order but for a burger to take 30 minutes was very frustrating. They did give me a mango cake for how long everything took but that definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. I say this because even when the male server started he also more focused on the larger table parties instead of them focusing on an area. They either need to make sure they assign someone from each side of the room of just train people better with multi tasking because the service was very disappointing. Really wanted to like this place, but the experience fell short, especially for the price point. Service was pretty lacking from the start. We were hardly checked on during the meal, which made things feel a bit neglected. When the food arrived, my burger had white cheese instead of the cheddar that was showcases on the menu pic. Excellent food and service! We came on a Saturday morning before 11 and by the time we left around noon, there was a line out of the door. Lovely, elegant decor with flower arches (apparently, they sell flowers too!) and plenty of space. Definitely the right place to go for a girl's brunch out. Only one mishap, which the staff addressed immediately. I had ordered the eggs benedict with yuzu smoked salmon croissant. The egg was perfectly poached, but - to my surprise - there was still a whole piece of eggshell attached to the bottom of it! I pointed it out to the service staff right away and they made a whole new one right away, comp'ed us with mimosas, and apologized multiple times (wow, wow!). Needless to say, the staff went above and beyond. All the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious! In addition to each of us ordering an entree, we also decided to share the Hong Kong style black sesame toast, which was oozing with black sesame. The entrees are actually quite sizeable, so in the future, I would family style it, because we were so stuffed afterwards. They even have a little flower shop inside with the prettiest bouquets for purchase. We went around 2:30 PM and the wait wasn't too bad at all. My friends and I ordered the iced matcha lattes and they were really good. We shared the egg sando and it was sooo buttery and soft, definitely one of my favorites. My friends got the lobster pasta and the chop steak, and I ordered the pork cutlet. The only downside was that our food came out separately about 10 minutes apart, which was a little surprising since it's usually nice when dishes come out together. Not sure if it was just an off day. The pork cutlet sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking, but I did enjoy the mac salad on the side. Overall, it was still a cute experience and one of the servers was so kind and even gave us a mini flower bouquet, which was such a sweet touch. The ambiance is beautiful, so aesthetic and perfect for pictures. They get pretty packed so be sure to have patience and be open to sitting pretty close to the table next to you if you're a table of 2. The food is delicious, so flavorful and good portion sizes. Things are great for sharing. If you order any of the soufflé pancakes, know it's a 30mins wait for those items. Aside from that, everything comes out pretty quickly. Joined the wait list in person and waited for about 45 minutes before being called and waited for another 15 minutes before being seated. We ordered through the iPad and the server came to confirm. I would say our server was extremely attentive; often checked in on us and poured us water. We ordered the Golden chicken n crockery ($23) Biscoff cream lattes ($7.5) Strawberry matcha latte ($7.5)had a great strawberry cream in the bottom but not the best I had. Lemon garlic lobster pasta ($34) which can not go wrong from my other experiences Osaka green tea cheesecake which w miscommunication became green tea ice cream ($10) we still ate it which was surprisingly good. Not too bitter and had great green tea flavor. Overall with better seating, lighting, and service. It was a great experience. Only have good things to say about this place! As soon as I walked in, I fell in love with their beautiful Valentine's Day decorations. The floral arrangements were breathtaking. We got some matcha lattes. They were not bad, but I think the food was better. We got the omurice and a matcha soufle pancake. The matcha soufle was SO fluffy and the matcha cream was so delicious. I loved it. Perfect place to take photos with your girlfriends. Our waiter was so nice, giving us crowns as props to take pics with. I'll definitely be back again! read more

Planned a small get together w some friends to celebrate our pregnancy instead of doing a full baby shower. You can only place your name down in person (wish you could do it over the phone or app, bc we live kinda far) We waited about an hour for a party of 6 on a Saturday around 1:30pm-- there's a yummy coffee and bakery next door! The inside is super cute with flowers and nice decor, great for pictures! They also sell bouquets inside. The food & drinks were delicious! The lobster pasta I got was amazing, I wanted to try so many things. Well-prepared dishes and EXCELLENT ambience. As for the food itself, it was just as beautiful. We had the US Wagyu Steak, Loco Moco, Salmón Tower, and Lemon Garlic Lobster Pasta. The steak had great flavor and a delicious garlic butter, but it is definitely nowhere near Wagyu level, or at least didn't taste like it. It was in the tougher side. The potatoes and corn that come with it were amazing. The Loco Moco was pretty good! Heavier on the worcestershire sauce but warm and comforting. The lemon garlic lobster pasta was light and lacking a bit of flavor but not the worst. My favorite was the salmon Tower because I loveeee lox bagels. It's basically a beautiful unassembled lox bagel that you put together yourself. Fun & delicious. Drinks and desserts were all good but nothing mind blowing. We came here during the holidays and were blown away by the interior in both decoration and layout. Perfect for a cute brunch, dinner date, or special occasion. Workers are busy but still attentive. Although this Korean fusion restaurant is most known for their brunch, we came here for dinner. These many Korean fusion dishes to choose from and although it's a bit pricey, it's not outrageous. Rose Rice Cake (5/5); I couldn't spell the Korean translation, so I wrote the English translation. These rice cakes are drenched in rose gochuchuchang. The sauce had the chili taste with a hint of rose. There is also a pile of fried onion on top adds extra flavor. Ribeye steak (5/5); It's a bit expensive, but this is the must get. There's plenty to share as the meat was flavorful and tender. It comes with salad so bonus points for being a bit healthy. I want to come back for brunch! read more

I was thinking this place was over hyped, but should I say that this place is worth the hype? For a party of 6 the wait was an hour but it's been a while since my friends and I have seen each other so it didn't feel like a super long wait time. They have a yelp wait list available that you can join when you arrive and one of my friends put our names down since they were the first ones there. Dare I say this is the first fusion place I've enjoyed as well?? I usually am pretty harsh on fusion because my taste buds are confused but I thoroughly enjoyed this place. They also put a lot of effort into the interior design where it's an experience of its own! We were seated at a large table and shared it with a couple but at least there was a divider (planter on the table) between us. ~~Parking: Shit show. It's hella small for the amount of places in the strip mall. Just gotta be patient or park in the more residential area and walk over. ~~Service: Good. They were mindful to give our group enough time to select the food since we were a party of 6 though we did have a couple of minutes to look at the menu beforehand. ~~Best Part: Golden Chicken & Croffle. I am not a fan of Chicken & waffles but loved this variation! The fried chicken was super crispy and juicy!! The pieces were huge where I didn't even end up eating all of the chicken. The fruits included were also super juicy, the blueberries were so huge that I thought they were grapes! ~~Worst Part: Eispanner Latte. The cream was hella good & I regretted mixing it into my coffee because the coffee was very watered down. ~~Tips: Check the menu when you get there because I was coming in thinking I would get the Seoul Seafood Pasta (based off of the pictures of the menu I saw posted on Yelp, but it's no longer on their menu offering). ~~Return: Yes. read more

Giwa is very pretty. The first time, I really enjoyed my meal. This second meal was a little bit more lacking; I would average the food to 3.5 stars but I upped to 4 stars for the ambiance. Drinks are really sweet and syrupy. Tried the pandan matcha latte and ube matcha latte. Lobster Pasta: very creamy and decadent. A unique brunch item, and my favorite Giwa menu item so far. Creme brulee French Toast: pretty good! I like the cream and it's better than most french toast I've tried. Sausage Omurice: this was whatever; i would skip this. I'm not a big fan of their gravy sauce. Berry souffle pancake: I like the mix of sweet and sour from the berry and syrup. Tastes a little too sweet and artificial by the end though, I would definitely only get this if I was sharing. Galbi Breakfast Platter: did not enjoy anything about this. Do not get it. read more

This place has delicious food, excellent customer service, and a beautiful interior which are three things that are surprisingly hard to find together these days. My friends ordered iced lattes while I had a hot tea, and we sampled each other's drinks. I was genuinely impressed by the lattes. They had a great balance of espresso flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet. We ordered the Giwa special salmon, uni pasta, pork katsu, and French toast. The Giwa special salmon tower is a fantastic appetizer and easily enough for four people. The uni pasta was my favorite dish, with a unique sauce- you have to try this. The only drawback was parking, which was hard to find due to most of the lot being reserved for another business. read more

The entrance was like a dive bar. And I was surprised to face a lavishly decorated interior ready for a wedding. Lots of flowers, neon lights, polish tables, and more flowers. We were supposed to order from the tablet on the table, even with a laminated menu. The waiter simply clicked on the tablet for us. A friend was searching for Dutch Baby Pancake in the neighborhood and found this place. She did not have the opportunity to try, so I naturally ordered it. Also a sesame-sauced fresh toast only for the curiosity. House coffee was weak. Next time I will do espresso drinks. Must say the reality did not live up to the hype. Both dishes were well made, yet unimpressive. If you are looking for a clean, well-lit, romantically decorated place with reasonable foods to chat for a long time with some friends, this is a very nice choice. read more
