Service We visited Gisele's Haitian Cuisine based on a friend's recommendation. The staff was attentive, and we were seated promptly. The service was warm, adding to the experience of our meal. Taste The food was absolutely delicious! I tried the Accra for the first time, and it was a standout appetizer. For the main course, I had the stewed oxtail, black rice, plantains, and cabbage. Every dish was flavorful, and even the leftovers the next morning were amazing. The rum punch also had a good kick Ambiance The restaurant had a lively and welcoming atmosphere, complete with Haitian music playing in the background. We noticed a small birthday dinner happening, which made it clear that this is a great spot for celebrations. Recommendation If you're looking to try authentic Haitian cuisine, Gisele's is a must. The flavorful dishes and inviting atmosphere will definitely bring me back for more!

Chicken stew- fantastic.

Fantastic! Loved the food-- we had the chicken stew and traditional goat stew. Both rice sides were great -- but particularly enjoyed the Haitian black rice-- wow! Can't wait to go back-- not often I want to go back to a restaurant just for chicken! The rum cake --was heavy in rum--- (we didn't like--- but I'm not fan of liquor in cakes. ) Loved the local haitian art on the walls.

Food was perfect. Service was good no complaints and the music was nice. I will definitely come back

Had a craving for Haitian food and I know Giselle's is pretty consistent. I got the fried turkey creole with diri djon djon and the rhum cake. The food was good, although I thought the portion of turkey was a bit small for the price. The rhum cake was kind of dry and seemed like it was missing the icing. I was a bit annoyed that the website isn't current. The prices on the physical menu were about $5 higher on some items than the online menu. The hours are also wrong, so I basically wasted an hour waiting for them to open at 1, when they actually open at 12. I even called to confirm but got no answer.

While in DC, I decided to check out Gisele. I love some excellent Haitian food! I'm glad I did. The menu was limited, as expected, but I was highly disappointed that it did not have griot( fried pork) and dire djonjon (black rice), two staples in Haitian cuisine. Nevertheless, we ordered oxtail stew and legumes to my daughter's pleasure. Taste: as mentioned earlier, the chef can throw down. The oxtail was savory with just the right amount of spices. The oxtail was lean with minimal fat yet flavorful with each bite. The aroma of the food enhances the orgasmic experience happening in your mouth. The restaurant located in Virginia, a 25 minutes drive outside of DC, offers a limited amount of parking and sitting. There is a small stage for a band, but one wasn't playing that night. I was surprised at how empty the place was on a Friday evening. The staff is friendly and attentive, with fast service. I recommend visiting Gisele if you are in the DC area.

A friend of mine wanted to try this spot so we did. When we arrived I found parking in the bank parking lot because it was closed. When we walked in the man behind the bar seemed to be rushing us to order and he was terrible with his customer service. I had to give it back to him to let him know and he calmed down a bit. In the restaurant they allowed you to eat inside or out so we chose out. The lady took our order and said it would be served in to go plates. I order the goat and red wine and my friend ordered the fish. The wine listed wasn't even available so I picked a red that might of been old lol smh. While waiting outside there was a nice breeze. The lady brought out our food and it was good. I even tasted the fish and it was really good. While the customer service was trash the food was good which is why I am giving this place 3 stars.

I'm so happy I got to try Gisele's restaurant. I called for a pickup order to which I was greeted with a friendly voice. Off the bat, that was a pleasant experience. When I arrived, my food was hot, boxed, and ready to go. Again, the employee was pleasant. They earned a few more points from me there. We ordered the goat and legume and each comes with a salad, rice and beans (sos pwa), Pikliz and plantains. For the cost of legume and goat, this a very generous platter. I didn't even finish it all, so I will have leftovers. Haitian food can be expensive, but they really do give you all the fixings. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. My only nit picky complaint would be that the plantains were sweet instead of your usual salty green ones. Again, that's me looking for a critique. I also wish they specified what kinds of beans come with the white rice. I was expecting the usual black or red beans. Overall, it was perfect and I will return. Thank you!

Macaroni and cheese (size wasn't worth $8, but it was still good)

Gisele has come a long way since my first review. They've stepped their cocktail game up (woot woot) and now offer an array of various cocktail drinks and spruced up the food menu as well. Service has also gotten better, the servers are fast and friendly and a delight to be around. They still aren't serving pork products so we're still in need of finding a spot that serves griot. Overall the food is still amazing and I have yet to be disappointed in a dish I've ordered. Still some consistency needed with the mac and cheese portion, but I've found that if I let them know I want a good hearty corner or middle piece I'll get it. If you're looking for a little piece of home and/or to be around other Haitians and have a good time this is the place for you. I'm interested to see what else is in store for them in the future.

We decided to try this restaurant at the recommendation of family friends. It's tucked away on a side street. There was no free parking or private lot only metered parking and a metered parking lot nearby. Great authentic Haitian food that you need to try if you are in the area. All of our meals were delicious and well seasoned. I had chicken, red beans and rice. Another person in my party had the goat with white rice and beans and another person had chicken and black rice. We had some alcoholic drinks that were nice and strong as well as yummy. Will definitely come back if we are in the area again.

First let me start off by saying, I'm Haitian-American. I strongly recommend this spot and love the representation in the DMV area. I used to live in the area so this was my local home cooked meals spot. I brought all my friends and guests to this spot. Always 5 stars reviews! My favorite meals are the legume and soup (only on Sundays). Made with love and so much history. Those dishes are made by pros and I'm not a pro cooker lol. Looking for reasonably priced, good portion, fresh, seasoned, and comfort food - check them out. It can get busy so be patience and be ready for a cultural experience. Every time I am in town, I try to go and support. Metro accessible but just Uber. You won't regret it!

My friend was NOT HAPPY WITH HER MEAL HER MACARONI WAS BURNT AND CHICKEN WAS COLD AND NOT FRESH!!!

Just a note that the food does take a while to come out so if you're ordering with a large group make sure to pass the menu around beforehand so you can order when you sit down. We started with the fried food platter Friday platter and everything was delicious. It came with plantains and okra and fries. The entrees are quite large and if you wanted you could split them as well. I got the stew chicken with rice and plantain and it was extremely flavorful and great comfort food. The waiter we had did not speak a lot of English so I think some things were kind of lost in translation when we ordered, but overall my group and I were satisfied.

To me the food to me was fairly average as far as haitian food goes and I was missing my favorites like griot and marinade, but it is in no way bad! My friend and I definitely enjoyed and cleared our plates! With there not being too many haitian food options in the area, I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to enjoy a simple haitian dinner in a welcoming environment. Much respect to the owner for shining a light on haitian cuisine in MD! Also, as a tip I would Be sure to check out the menu before going as certain things like the black rice is only served on the weekends.
