I don't know how I hadn't heard of this spot before, it's in the middle of a shopping center and easy to miss so i'm glad I came across it. The food is delicious! Everything is fresh and prepared to order. I had the tacos for the first time a couple months ago and have been back once a month every since. I have even raved so much my friends have become fans. I highly reccommend the suya tacos, they come with jallof rice, cheese and onions. A standard order comes with two which is more than enough since they pack the taco to the max. If you are in the mood for some authentic foods this spot needs to be on your list.

I really enjoyed my food here! The ambiance is very casual. The food took a while to come out, I think something was going on in the kitchen, plus a lot of people were there for the soccer game. I've been here a few times, and I've enjoyed all my experiences. You can request to do group paint and sips as well. Just ask the Manager Calisma. We ordered: The Suya and Jollof 10/10 - plenty of food and the suya was well seasoned. Not too many fatty pieces. The Suya tacos 10/10 - you get two STACKED tacos filled with Suya, jollof, onions, and cheese Side of plantain - cooked perfectly. Sweet and salty and not too soggy or oil saturated They also have catering, can't wait to go back next time

Every year, I try and find a new (to me) Black-owned business to support for Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) for Kwanzaa. I've known for a while this was going to be the spot I'd choose for 2023. What shocked me is that I hadn't heard of it until recently... do you know how much I used to hang out in Beltsville? LAX and Costco are literally right across the street too! They started a promotion for a 2-hour All You Can Eat for a lot of their food options (no suya tacos or pizza, definitely on my list for next time), so I knew I would be exploring that. I arrived around 7:00, and they close at 9:00... so just enough time for the AYCE deal! It's on the end of a strip of restaurants and stores, and parking is easy. I walked right in, and there was only one person sitting at the bar (had chairs, but room for more). I could tell that's also where you order food. There were roses hanging from the ceiling, and there were a bunch of tables and long couches to sit at. Huge speakers were posted up against the wall, contributing even more to the lounge vibes. Leaves me wondering when it turns into a party space, because the potential is definitely there. Lovely art lined the walls, and apparently it's for sale. You just need to talk to one of the staff or contact the artist directly. There was also a small rack of clothes next to the bar. After taking all of this in, I decided to just sit where I knew I would be eating. The guy at the bar looked like he was waiting for an order, and I did see a bell to ring, but I didn't want to be that guy. When someone came out from the kitchen to bring the guy's (large) order, I walked up and started looking at the menu. I said I wanted to do the AYCE, and started with the suya, spinach and plantain. I thought it was going to be small portions since it's AYCE... wooo boy was I wrong. Full plate came out for me, and it was all flavorful and delicious! I drank some water and prepared for round 2... more spinach, but I also got jollof rice and peanut soup. Satisfaction all around -- I'd say the entrees run about $20-$25 average, so I think I got my money's worth. If you plan on doing the AYCE, definitely come hungry. I appreciated how friendly my interactions were, and while the food did sometimes take a while... it was fresh, so I can't really complain there. I'll be back to try those tacos and pizza!

Jollof Rice & Suya

My girlfriend was really craving some suya. Being a man who loves some suya as well, I couldn't help but agree that stopping for some was a good idea. We were already in the area for a birthday so we stopped by. This is a place she had been plenty of times but I had never had. We ordered the suya tacos, the suya and jollof, and some plantains. The suya tacos were amazing. With the added pepper, it was spicy and an immediate favorite. I'm still thinking about it a week later. The suya and jollof was also delicious. The jollof was exactly what I expect from a restaurant jollof. It's well flavored but not too spicy or overpowering. The plantains were some of my favorite because they weren't super oily. I personally don't like super oily plantains. The service was good. It took a little bit (like 30 mins) to get our food but I think it was worth the wait. One of the guys that works there checked on us to see how we liked the food and if we needed anything additional. The ambiance is that of a family owned African restaurant. There was a bunch of art painted by the owners daughter (who's the manager btw) and it looks amazing! There's bigger booths as well as some regular tables depending on your group size. Highly recommend this place if you want some good African food. It is a bit out of the way if you don't live in the area so try and make a day out of being in Maryland!

I went here to support the business after seeing food reviewer Mr. Chimetime review! The food was pretty good with the exception of the suya pizza...which was AWSOME! The goat pepper soup was really spicy with just a few pieces of goat meat, it was just ok. The suya beef was overpriced with the small amount we got. The egusi was the star of the show which my granddaughter loved with our fufu(really mine but I had to share with her )! Overall this place was very clean and the owner and the staff was super nice ! Will return soon...for that pizza and of course egusi!!

If there's a Black/African-owned restaurant you're looking to support, pull up to Miya Lounge & Restaurant. I went once in 2020 and once again recently. Here are some thoughts about what I know about Miya Lounge and my experience: So the name of the restaurant is misleading because I think often times when people hear 'lounge' they think of a place that has alcohol/hookah. This place has neither. If you truly care about good food and not the aesthetics at all, then you will really enjoy this place. It's definitely more of a carryout spot, but there are plenty of tables and seats to sit at if you want to relax. I will say, if you also want your food quickly, call in your order first, because you are not going to receive it quickly (the dishes definitely take time to prepare). When it comes to the food, they definitely have some of the best suya in the area. I wasn't the biggest fan of the suya tacos though. I think the cheese takes away from the flavor of the suya and when it comes to jollof rice, I think it could use more flavor and spice, but I may be biased because I'm Nigerian lol. The suya pizza was a fish suya pizza and it was really good. It was not fishy at all and had good flavor. The goat pepper soup was delicious. The goat was nice and tender. I also really liked the eru and now am wishing I put more on my plate. When I come back, I also really want to try the grilled fish because it looks so good

Small suya $15, grill croacker was very small for $25, can soda $3. Kitchen not clean and the server is also the cook.

The staff was very friendly. I got to chat with the owner & she gave me some insight into the menu. She was the one that created the suya tacos. There was a gentleman inside, who was also on staff; he said he was the inspiration for the dish. The owner said that wasn't true. LOL. Since it was taco Tuesday, I got the suya tacos with beef and a side of jollof rice. I was told my order would take about 15 minutes but it only took maybe 7 to 10 minutes. The tacos are a nice size. I'll probably only eat one and have it with a salad. The beef was tasty and it taste like it may have been grilled or something. I detected a hint of charcoal. It was also topped with a few peppers and some cheese. The rice was good but it doesn't taste like any jollof rice I've ever tasted. No complaints. It was a filling meal with a little bit of spice, very little. My spice level has deteriorated over the years. It also came with a side of some spicy sauce in a very small container. Let me warn you, use that sauce at your own risk. I dipped my fork into the sauce and tasted it, and it was spicy enough to let me know that I probably should not be pour it on my food. If you do, use it ever so sparingly.

Before I started my trip from Alexandria, VA to Beltsville, MD I called to place an order of Suya. They told me it was going to take 15-20mins. I got there in 45mins only to wait another 50mins. I was in a hurry that's why I timed my trip. I understand most African business almost NEVER respect their customs time, but this has to stop being the norm. Portion not worth the price.Suya - Grilled Beef

The food was great ! I got the suya tacos which had suya jollof and cheese and onions in it. I also got the jollof and suya and goat meat. Everything was great ! The only downside is the suya isn't spicy at all and it would make the experience 10 times better maybe asking if customers want the suya mild or spicy and mild being how you have it now. If you enjoy party jollof you will definitely enjoy their jollof rice ! The goat was spicy to perfection it was just too tough. I know all African countries cook their goat different but a more tender fall of the bone goat would be more exciting. Overall great experience and please inquire about the art work it's so beautiful and definitely worth the purchase

4.5 stars. The suya pizza and suya taco are both delicious. I was quite surprised the taco filling was so large. It more than made up for the $10 price tag. Due to the pandemic, I haven't done inside dining. Phone customer service is good. And pick-up time is good, too. No complaints in that department. The owner is awesome and amazingly talented. You can find her artwork placed around the restaurant, ready to be purchased. Planning to pick me up a suya pizza (extra veggies and cheese) and suya taco after work today.

It's only about a five minute drive away, so the location worked out great. This was everyone's first time trying Kenyan food and we were all blown away. Everything at the table was delicious. Our server Diamond was wonderful. She was warm, helpful, and really guided us through the menu since we were new to the cuisine. Service was very slow and one of the mangers was drinking and having a long conversation with the bartender. We decided to try the Jollof Rice and Suya bites. The rice was very bland. The Suya had some flavor but seemed to be missing something. I decided to take the leftovers home but unfortunately the Suya bites got very hard overnight so were not enjoyable the next day. Since eating out is pricey you may want to choose a different restaurant to try.

UberEats review…read more Service: given the distance of the restaurant, the order took a bit long but it was packaged well so nothing spilled and the food was still still fresh and warm. Dish: I ordered the spice wings with a side of jollof rice and spinach Efo-Riro. OMG! So let's start with the wings, the flavor on these wings were the right balance between rich spices and touch of sweetness. There was a hint of honey lingering on my tongue after it was greeted by a strong spicy flavor. Adding to this, the wings were fried to perfection with crispy skin resting on the top and smooth white meat down to the bone. AMAZING! The jollof rice was stellar! And while I do not know much about the perfect preparation for this dish to review if this is the best, I've had a few from various West African countries and can say that this one had that grainy texture with just the right spices mixed in. The spinach efo-riro was SO good. I honestly could have had a plate of this by itself and my taste buds would still be pleased. Overall, this place is very generous with their serving sizes. Well portioned, beautifully prepared, seasoned to perfection, and a sure trip down culture lane! I enjoyed it so much.

Extremely disappointing experience at Jollof Etcetera…read more My coworkers and I visited today at 11:30a during our lunch break. Despite the restaurant advertising that it opens at 10a, the lone employee on duty appeared completely unprepared and disorganized. She could not clearly explain the menu or pricing, and it took an excessive amount of time just to place basic food and drink orders. The situation only got worse. Drinks were handed to us still in the can, and one contained a visible piece of hair. The same employee repeatedly touched her hair while handling food, which was unsettling enough. But, the final straw was when she delivered the pepper sauce and stuck her THUMB directly into it, then still charged us for that same sauce. As for the food: the jollof rice was undercooked, the beef was dry and overcooked, and overall the meal was not worth the nearly $30 per person we paid. When we asked for to-go boxes so we wouldn't completely waste our money, we were given absurdly tiny containers that couldn't even hold half the food. What should have been a 30-60 minute lunch break turned into a 2-hour ordeal. We work in the area and make a point to support local businesses, but this experience was unsanitary, inefficient, and frustrating from start to finish. We will absolutely not be returning, and cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick, clean, or professionally run lunch spot.

Despite everything I listed above, the food here is not bad at all. Both locations offer taste into Nigerian cuisine that comes off as authentic but still palatable to the masses. I had the pounded yam and beef with ogbonna soup (my fav) and it didn't disappoint. I've been going to this restaurant for YEARS (Lanham) and each time I have enjoyed their food. Items I have had: okra soup, white rice and stew, Jollof rice, fish, moi-moi, puff puff...all the Nigerian popular dishes. Each one 100% SLAPS (very good). I simply deducted the rating because of decor, location (both) are in sketchy areas with interesting characters hanging outside.
