Supposed to be (4) Meat Pies!
Yvette F.

TERRIBLE SERVICE AND UNDER COOKED BLOODY CHICKEN - FOR THE PRICE! I was excited about trying the cuisine, so I ordered online a few signature dishes. The cost was around 140 dollars for 4 dishes and some meat pies. The cost was not an issue until we opened the bags to partake in the food. The first thing we tried were the meat pies, that they seemed to just toss in a plastic bag (see photos attached). Terrible presentation, but the pies were tasty. The second dish we tried was the JERK CHICKEN - as soon as you cut into the meat - it squirted a mixture of blood and spices! (see photos attached). The third dish we tried was the (2) orders of OXTAILS - they were delicious, however for the price point to get 3 small pieces of oxtail was disappointing. Finally we tried the BANKU with Tilapia - very good, the fish was cooked thru and the spices and veggies were on point. The sides on all the dishes were nicely seasoned and delicious-plantains, coleslaw, rice and peas and joloff rice. The other blaring issue is customer service and decent communication. I ordered this meal thru the online tool, who notified me when to pickup the food - 3:09 pm was the time, I was there at 3:10 pm. I did not get my order until 3:45 pm! I watched as two customers who clearly ordered after me receive their orders. Of course I inquired when I entered the establishment and the owner assured me just a few minutes- they cook the fish to order. No problem, I want my food freshly prepared. So 30 minutes in I approach again, mind you I have not left the establishment, and was told they had burned the fish and needed to prepare it again. Why not communicate to your customers that there was a problem- instead of having me sit there not knowing what the heck is going on!?!? Now you must be asking yourself - after about an hour and a half from order to pickup- why was the JERK CHICKEN a bloody mess? Especially since you had more time to prepare everything!! TERRIBLE Service! Food under cooked and price points don't match food quantity or quality! (clearly, I am not the first customer with this issue). Please DO BETTER - it is nice to see after 15 years of residency in this area this genre of culture and cuisine, but the way you're going will cause you to be closed down.

Dalia's has the best Jollof rice I've ever had, the woman who worked the front was really sweet with a quirky gap in her teeth and I loved her customer service! The next time I'm in the area I will definitely make another to go order.

Egusi Soup W/Rice
Sean S.

The egusi soup was amazing!!! I've been to many African restaurants and left disappointed. I originally ordered one bowl to go, took a little sample upon puckup and ended up eating the whole thing then and there. I ordered two more bowls because it was probably the second best egusi I've had. I'm grateful for this find. As far as my experience, the staff was very nice and helpful. I forgot to mention an allergy and they were kind enough to assist me without any problems.

Jerk Chicken & Jollof rice

Delicious authentic food, generous portions, and friendly staff...10/10 recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the large chains of fast food!

Oxtail Stew with Rice.

I had the oxtail stew and it was delicious! Plus, there are many gluten free options on the menu, just ask and they are happy to help you select a gluten free entree.

You won't get better food or service anywhere else. The jerk chicken is my favorite it's so moist and flavorful with the right amount of spice. I eat it once a week. Go here and try something new. You won't be disappointed.

I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch. As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it. Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal. I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me. Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I was in town!

Because of all the new dishes I don't know about, the guy at the counter was very helpful in making recommendations. The bang for your buck is unreal. Huge app of Kelewele for only $9, very good value, and makes trying the rest of the menu very inviting. The ambiance was warm and inviting and the plaza that the shop is in is very easy to enter. Cons: Can't think of a single con. Tips: Jollof Rice and Stew, and Nii Nii Special. Trust me.

Favorites were the rich, thickly textured, moderately spicy palm nut soup with goat and beef, the dark and flavorful waakye rice and bean dish, the chicken suya, and the jollof rice. All the sauces were delicious. The fried turkey tail dish was well-prepared, but not my favorite. Portions were generous and every dish offered great value. We'll definitely go back. Dining in was comfortable but utilitarian and no frills. The pace was un-rushed--perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable dinner, but it wouldn't be ideal if you were in a hurry. If you've never tried west African food, I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is Ghanaian so you'll find a lot of west African staples here. I ordered their Suya rice with chicken and beef. My wife ordered the acheke with fried fish and ordered a plate of jollof to take home. The suya fried rice was my favorite dish. It's one of their own creations but it's a fried rice with suya spice in it. It's not as spicy as I personally like, but I'm a huge fan of spice so I imagine it's a good level for most people. The jollof was also pretty good. I'll say that the chicken and beef in both the jollof and suya fried rice were a little dry, but they had good flavor to them so it can be overlooked. The acheke was standard for what I expect from it. The fried fish could have used a little bit of seasoning but was fine to go with it. Food took about 20 mins to be cooked but I appreciate that it's done fresh. The service was great! Kevin was the one who took our order and helped us with any additional requests while we ate. Definitely love the soul he adds to the restaurant. The ambiance is pretty casual. The one thing to note is that the parking lot can be a bit small so parking may take more than one try if you have a bigger car.

The plantains on top of it were good but I'm used to receiving more plantains than what this place provides. The oxtail was delicious and the whole grilled fish was just average - it was on the small side and not seasoned well. The puff puff was tasty and I truly enjoyed it. For the portion sizes, the price was too high. I have gotten whole fish twice the size for the same price, as well as more oxtail pieces for a lesser price. So while the food was mostly good it is overpriced.

Didn't think anything of it because i like to support local restaurants snd was happy to give money to them. However, I thought it was weird that their delivery was $10. Proceeded anyway. Only to find out 45 mins later thay my driver got there and said they didnt have the order bc their system isnt set up or fufu. My driver said she hates working with them bc they always make you wait. I asked for pounded yams as a substitute. They said they dont sell that there. Even though its on their website. They said theyd give me jolly rice for free too. When my order finally arrived I didnt get my meat pie, ir the jolly rice.. Lastly food is not great. Beef and fish were dry. Everything had a weird taste. Waste of $38. Especially, because it shouldve only been like $25 Extremely disappointed.
