Came here because my friend's husband was raving about it and I'm glad I did. The food is amazing! I ordered the snapper and was surprised when there was two fish on the plate. Yes, two whole fish with the head on. I also got the black rice even though I am not a fan of mushrooms and it was delicious. Now, with most foreign establishments, the service was slow but very friendly. We started out with three people and then grew to five and then six. We may have waited for the server to come around, but when she came she was very attentive. I loved the music!! 100% Haitian and easy to dance to; however, the volume of the music was so loud I think I experience temporary deafness. The ears were certainly ringing when I got outside. I hear that there is live music on Friday nights, so I definitely would return to check that out. Lastly, we tried the $15 shot because it was a special occasion. My suggestion- skip this. At that price point, the rum wasn't nearly as smooth as I anticipated. read more

Amazing food. First time trying Haitian food and I absolutely love it. The stewed snapper was perfectly seasoned. Even without pepper (I'm addicted to pepper) I enjoyed it. Not so much a dan of fried goat but there's was pretty good. Reasonably price, authentic and super delicious. Had a margarita too and it was sure on point. Can't wait to go back and try the oxtails and fried turkey. Did I the service... both ladies up front were no their toes and despite a full house they made their rounds multiple times making sure customers were taken care of. Definitely earned their 5 stars. read more

Two stars because it's literally one of the only Haitian food options in this area, but if you're Haitian or have had Haitian home cooking the food here lacks especial flavor that will leave you disappointed. Their prices don't reflect the quality of food. They definitely need to increase their menu options. read more

I ate the goat entree for lunch with red beans and rice and salad. The goat and read beans and rice felt re-heated from yesterday and the salad was good. read more

Nice energy. Good drinks, we came for the music and drinks. Food going by looked delish!

Visited this place today and loved everything about it! Very attentive, nice owners and staff, the food was amazing as well.My boyfriend had a goat and I had a red snapper both were really good. We visited Haiti last year and having Haitian restaurant in the area is a very special way to relive the trip and enjoy delicious food. P.s. The rum cake is the bomb! read more

Literally was so happy to find this place!! Coming from Europe I didn't expect to find any Haitian restaurants near me but boy am I happy that I did! The food is so delicious for a really good price! I got the legume and rice best believe I'll be back for more!! Quick suggestion is to expand the menu a bit more. read more

If you haven't ever had Haitian food, check this place out. It's a great soul food. Their black mushroom rice is stellar. The portions are generous. Their legume is delicious. Otherwise, their chicken (fried or stewed) is sure to please. If it's your first time eating Haitian food, be aware that pikliz (it looks like coleslaw) is pretty spicy. It's really good but it can surprise people the first time they try it. Beyond the great food, the people working there give fantastic service. Everything is made to order so it can take some time to be served but you won't mind waiting because the servers and hostess are exceptionally friendly. read more

Gisele's is FIRE. I am from South Florida, and LOVE Haitian food. I wish they gave a bigger serving of pikliz. The taso cabrit is a household favorite. I wish they had taso bef. The fried green plantains can be dry sometimes, but everything else makes up for it. I have also had the fried chicken. I do not suggest getting the wings. That's a cop out. Enjoy this quality Creole Cuisine, because the D.C. area has very few spots like this. read more

I was amazed by Gisele's exquisite and authentic taste of creole cuisine! The place is clean, the staff is cordial, and the food is a delight!!!! Thank you so much for giving me memories to cherish! Gisele's is home away from home! read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about Gisele's. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the food is DELICIOUS. The Sos Pwa was to DIE for and the Pikliz tasted like they came straight from the market in Haiti. Absolutely incredible. Authentic Haitian cuisine is hard to come by but they really hit the nail on the head. Plus, the owners are the most personable and kind people I've ever met. 5 Stars all around for food, service, prices and atmosphere. Gisele's has very quickly become a favorite spot of mine and I am anxious to go back! read more

This was my first time eating at a Haitian restaurant. My best friend is Haitian so we suggested we gives this restaurant a try. We started with the Accra. It was crisp, crunchy, light and airy. I also ordered the house salad. The menu said it was supposed to have cucumbers, cilantro, avocado, onions, and signature dressing. Our salad only contained tomatoes, croutons and dressing that tasted like regular Italian. Other than that....everything was superb! We ordered the Fritay (fritters) The platter came with a meat of your choice, fried dough, fried plantains, accra, pickled cabbage, and a side. I ordered the platter with the fish and my friend with the goat. We both had black rice as a side. My fish platter came with two nice sized whole fish. They leave the heads on and it is bone in. It was so flavorful and fresh. You could tell that everything had been cooked to order and time and love was put into the preparation of the food. I will definitely return to try some different items. read more

See all

I always was so confused to if I liked Haitian food. My mother in law is an amazing cook all of our family cooks well but besides her a lot of the food I've had was always disappointing. Fast forward we tried Gisele's randomly and the menu seemed slightly limited compared to the mom and pop shops ( we wanted griot and she said they didn't have pork) this made me nervous but I was wrong their food is Amazing!!!!!! In my opinion it's the best Haitian food in the DMW. Negative Reviews on google were based off of customer service or prices but people don't take into account that haitian food isn't the same as staple Caribbean food there more ingredients and it always more expense EX, an order of Haitian Mac n chesse is about 7$ when I saw the portion at first I was disappointed but this is legit the only authentic Haitian Mac I've been able to find since being here. I have to be honest the service is bad but that's honest normal for Haitian restaurants the restaurant downtown "Port-a prince Haitian cuisine" smiled in our face and was talking about us in Creole cause they didn't think we understood the girl who took our order here at Gisele's was slightly disinterested but not rude, or unpleasant every bad review is trying to compare them with their mothers cooking or their own. read more

Great food and venue. They need to do better with running out of food and serving time.

We visited Gisele Creole Cuisine while visiting from NC, we had a great experience. The food was delicious and very well cooked and seasoned. The atmosphere was very good, we met Gisele who was very friendly, warm and personable. It was a great place to take my girlfriend who is not Haitian to experience a little bit of my culture and taste my country's cooking. The skewed goat and turkey with black mushroom rice (du riz djon djon) was delish and the rum punch was excellent!!! read more

I was recommended this spot by a bank teller this afternoon. I came for the chicken wings but was enticed by the goat. I had Cabrit, duri kole, & Banan along with a rum Punch. Great food, drink and service!!! I will be back to try the rest of the menu (and see the weekend vibe)! read more

I took my teenage nephew visiting from Chicago here to try Haitian food for the first time. Our server, Nicole, was super helpful. We had the fritter appetizers, oxtail stew and fried goat. He's a carnivore and really enjoyed it. Although we were disappointed that they ran out of rum cake, we'll be back to try it! (I took him to Tropical Icecream for dessert afterwards, so it was more than ok by him). My husband and I have been meaning to come back for their happy hour with live music which looks like a good time. read more

I know that what I will say may look like an exaggeration, but this is the best place that I've ever eaten at. The food has good spices and the taste is an explosion of flavors. I gave it 5 stars because I can't give it 10. read more

I really enjoyed the food here. I visited the restaurant with some family and I ordered a cabrit(goat meat) along with the black mushroom rice and I can truly say it was amazing. The food is really good , you can't go wrong by not tasting it. They give you a lot of food, a great server named Nicole who attended to our orders with perfection. I would recommend anyone Haitian or non-Haitian to visit this restaurant. I recommend the Accra for an appetizer, it is made to perfection. read more

The food is the only reason I gave this place 3 stars. It was the best Haitian food I've had so far in MD! But the service was trash. She was nice but overwhelmed because she was serving by herself. Also it was freezing cold and its November. Everyone had on coats and scarves while they were eating. read more

This place was really awesome! The owner was there and provided impeccable service. The food was delicious and the friendliness of the staff here guarantees I will be back!!! Give this place a try!!! read more

We were seated in front of the "juke box" we had to turn the table to avoid sitting in an awkward position. The dining room's thermostat as also directly over our table so we had to make room for someone to reach over us to adjust the air conditioning. After we were seated, there was a 10 minute wait before receiving a glass of water and having our order taken, then another 45 minutes wait for food. The water tasted gross, it's from the tap, they should invest in a water filtration system to serve their customers better tasting water. Menu options are limited and the drink menu is even more limited than the food menu. As for the food, the fried turkey pieces were dry and hard. The plantain was hard and dry, too. Only one dessert option, really? I will never spend good money here again. read more

If you want good Haitian food, this is THE place to go! I'll be back soon with some friends. The area is nice too.

The food here is amazing. The owner and his wife are absolutely fantastic. While the food takes awhile to come out it's worth the wait. I love the red snapper, the chicken, and the vegetable stew. The black rice is good too, and the red beans and rice. Check it out! You won't be disappointed. read more

Food was good. I'm Haitian and was looking for some good Haitian food. I had black rice and mac and cheese. No complaints. My parents also ate and liked it. It did take forever to be ready though. I would definitely call ahead. read more

Gave this a 5 because it was the best Red Snapper I have ever had. However the chicken wings were a big disappointment. Will go back, i want to try the Turkey Creole and the goat dish read more

I went to Giselle's and ordered take out. The waitress was friendly. The restaurant was empty at about 6pm on a weekday. So the food. Although it was tasty, the legume was served in a small cup, mostly rice and a small salad. When I took it out I honestly thought it was a side or a mistake. I was very disappointed. My husband had the red snapper. Interestingly they had to cut it in half for it to fit in the take out container. So much for presentation. It was good though. Even though it was a bit pricey, at least it felt like a meal. I probably won't go back. read more

This is a must try!!!! Tried about 3 different appetizers. akra, plantains, and fritters. Everything was delicious ‼ also had the black rice, oxtails and fried goat. Flavor profile on all the food was out of this world. read more

Incredibly delicious flavorful phenomenal. Food is awesome. You will definitely enjoy every single bite. The ambiance is friendly and excellent service. They have a variety of drinks as well. Amazing!! read more

I absolutely love Giselle's and have visited over 10 times. My biggest issue is that they run out of food often (i.e. Djon rice, chicken, etc.) and do not effectively communicate that with guests. read more

This place makes me so happy! I just moved down the street and discovered Gisele. Just wow, besides amazing foods, the most welcoming and friendly staff, they play live music! It's just such a feel good place. The food is superb. Fresh, quality ingredients that makes the best and most authentic food. Tamera was sooo wonderful and I can't wait to come back. This is definitely my new go to spot in my new neighborhood. read more

The food here is just that good. I've been here twice this month and would come back again. If you order the fritters, you get a massive amount of food and it's not that expensive. Service is generally good, but they don't always have everything on the menu. read more

This is 1 of the best Authentic Haitian Restaurants in the DMV. The food is extraordinary, the drinks are great, the prices are fair, and the waitress service is exceptional. My waitress's was Ms Junie and she did an excellent job of serving me and my family. She was very knowledgeable of the food/menu and was great at explaining the meals to help us in deciding what to order. We went to Gisele's once and we will definitely be going back many more times. The Ox Tails, Mushroom Rice, Fish...etc....Wow!!!This was home-cooking at it's finest. Thanks Gisele's!!!! read more
