Best Margarita pizza I've had in years. So delicious! Great prices and awesome staff.

WOW! Im gonna go ahead and be honest in saying as soon as we walked out the door, my husband and I already knew we were giving Gio's 5 stars before we even tried the pizza! YELP said they closed at 9pm on this Friday night, but being the pizza lover's we are...we called to double check. Good thing we did! They actually close at 9:30pm on Friday's and Saturday's. We got there and were pretty nervous as we saw the chairs turned over and tables prepped for closing, but the sign said OPEN and thankfully they were. They literally had half a cheese pie, spaghetti something, pepperoni and ham something, and 4 garlic knots. We ordered two slices and the pepperoni ham item and ended up leaving with every last bit of food they had left! The owner Onophrio* was seriously TOO kind! Being restaurant owners ourselves in Guam, we love it when small, family run businesses take that extra step and mingle with their customers. It's everything to us! Ate here at this local pizza place for the first time, ordered a fresh pepperoni pizza and garlic knots. Unfortunately, I was not very thrilled with our food. The garlic knots did not taste fresh, possibly frozen or just simply reheated. The pizza truly had good flavor, but unfortunately it was covered with oil sitting on top of the cheese, way more than normal. We used napkins to soak up the grease prior to eating the pizza. The pizza had good flavor, unfortunately just way too much grease on top to truly enjoy. I probably won't be going back. read more

I have loved these guys for sometime now, but I honestly went nowhere since the crises started. I missed my fix from Gio's. The entire vibe is different. I ordered on the phone and knew it was pickup only, but I stood in an area that made me feel totally not wanted small and only opening was to use the card payment system and that was almost not enough room for that. I even hit the big tip cup as I slid my card. They didn't seem happy either and the pizza suffered because of it. I ordered my favorite as always and I was so ready for it after month(s) off. It felt like waiting for your love to get off a cruise ship while waiting by an isolated pier that no one likes to be at. She comes down (heart throbs) and you realize she has turned on you. Maybe a little dramatic but if I had never been here before honestly I wouldn't be back. I gave them 3 start because I want to see them come out if this. No one else can do better when they do it right, but right now this pizza just ain't right.the Italian sausage tasted like CHEAP ground hamburger that was not seasoned with anything but maybe age like almost bad age. Ok so let me say how much of a struggle I'm having choosing how many stars to rate Gio's. Ultimately I decided I needed to focus on this one experience. I don't write many reviews because 9 times outta 10 I agree with the reviews that are already written and I don't feel like just re-writing the same opinion as the last 25 people wrote, but this one I felt I needed to write. I will start out by saying that I will absolutely be coming back go Gio's due to the amazing potential that I saw in the meal that I had. I ordered their 16 Napolitana with pepperoni and mushrooms and a half dozen of their garlic knots per the rave reviews here on yelp. If I strip away what was on the pizza, this is the kind of place that just doesn't need toppings. The simplicity of just a plain cheese pizza made right is what makes a pizza place stand out in my book, and that is what I see in the pizza I had. However that is where it all fell apart for me. The pepperoni was good, but I was shocked that the mushrooms on the pizza came out of a can. I usually ask about that detail before ordering at other places, but didn't think I would need to worry about such a detail at a place like Gio's, especially at the cost of their toppings. It shouldn't even be an option if you're going for authentic, so that was an extremely disappointing discovery. I don't know, was it a situation where Gio's ran out and had to resort to canned ones? Please, don't bother if that was the case. However, after picking off what I had to pick off, the pizza itself was still good, and minus said shrooms, I know it will be fantastic. Regarding the garlic knots, they are massive. No joke about the size, and a half dozen was too much for two adults and two small children, especially given the size of the pizza. 3 knots would have been more than enough. I will have to give them another try though, because the order I received, although given to me straight out of the oven piping hot, probably needed just a few more minutes. All but two were a little underdone, though the outside tasted great. They were super busy tonight and I felt like they may have been rushed with the amount of people there placing and picking up orders. All in all I feel like I can see past tonight's mishaps. Had the pizza been just pepperoni or just cheese and the garlic knots been fully cooked, the meal would have gotten 5 stars. read more

This is easily our favorite pizza in AZ. I grew up back east and continue to search for the pizza I grew up with. Gio's knocks it out of the park and, with one bite of their NY-style pizza, I am immediately transported back to my childhood. However, don't stop at the NY-style. Their Sicilian pizzas are to die for, our personal favorite is the Foccacia. I don't know their tomato trick, but you've never tasted tomatoes so delicious in your life. I don't even care for tomatoes but I can eat every last one from that pizza and love them. Their stuffed pizzas are also delicious and truly unique. You're not likely to find these varieties in another random pizza joint, such as the potato, pepperoni, and sausage. I'm hard pressed to eat a whole slice of those, even when I'm famished, just because they're so large and hearty. You'll also find some gems that are not easy to find in AZ, such as spaghetti rolls or meat sauce rolls. We've been here countless times, but there are still so many items on the menu left for me to try. That said, I've yet to be disappointed with anything I've tried thus far, and recommend Gios's to anyone looking for authentic back-east style pizza. Their desserts are also yum, from the cannolis to the cheesecake and any other treat they happen to have. I'd drive a great distance to bring this pizza home when I'm in the mood, but fortunately for me, I do not have to. This is a true gem, and I love supporting this family-run establishment in our community. read more

Pizza was okay. I guess if you never had Connecticut pizza you would think the pizza was great. The calzone was not very good. Ray's Pizza has the best calzones. Also you have to be careful when you pay because they add a 20% tip on the tab unless you catch it and delete it!!! read more

I want businesses to thrive in Anthem/New river it gives us a variety of places patronize out here without having to drive 15 miles to town. I do think they have a good product but the consistency is not there. I went to get a slice of pizza the first time and it was good and it was a big slice. The second time the slice was almost half the size and for almost $ 4.00 for a slice of pepperoni you would think we are in some over priced place in Scottsdale. Please you guy's at Gio's take a note from the STATION bar and grill that went out of business out here not long after they opened. Prices and consistency mean a lot to the people. I think improvements could made there. read more

They are a good pizza when they get it right but this is the second time my order has been wrong. I ordered the stuff crust pepperoni and sausage, add beef with extra sauce. I didn't really want sausage but they charge you for it if you get it or not. I live 25 mins away so going there to get it replaced is a big deal. Conversation with owner and he tells me they thought I didn't want pepperoni. Why would I not want the pepperoni I'm paying for and ordered next where's the sausage? Oh it looks like the ground beef. I know what sausage taste like. Next where's the extra sauce. We only put a little on it because you didn't pay for it. Point is I ordered it with extra. Said they would give me credit for the pepperoni next time. I drive 25 minutes to get this crap pie and 25 minutes home. Burn gas, time and paired extra money and this fool want to give me free pepperoni next time. Know if all this was not enough they are back there cooking during a pandemic with no mask, handling money and touching food. I hope this place goes out of business and you are a fool to eat here. I too am from Long Island and this Pizza Joint started out a little rocky; which I understand with training new employees and all. However, at 1 point they turned a corner for the Better and then became Phenomenal for 15 minutes. The Sicilian was soft, fresh, lots of mozzarella, and homemade sauce. Which would force you to work to keep it all on the slice and It was SO Delicious when you put it in your Mouth that you felt like you were in Heaven back on Long Island Also, the Regular pie was cooked Perfectly I!!!!!!I!!I could have Swore I was Back on Long Island with The BEST PIZZERIA'S. Then it took a turn for the worst and Everything went Fugazi !!!!! I don't know what happened but I suspect in my opinion that the demand became so great by the people who have been eating Pizza Hut and Domino's all their lives, and these customers were so Amazed by This Pizza Joint that it caused the Owners and employees to get LAZY and started cutting corners as they started making crust on Sicilian pies in way to far in advance to make their lives easier so that they could throw some sauce and cheese on it and toss it in the oven quickly, Not Fresh like they used to make it. The hours here are part of the problem as well. Closed Sundays dont answer phones after 7:30 on a Saturday night, Meanwhile a Long Island Pizzeria would start prepping from early in the morning and stay open late as 11:00 on the weekend as well as being open 7 days a week so all the Food is Fresh. I have tried to talk to the owners several times but got a NY FU Attitude. , ( How U Doing )Probably because they recognize a Real NY Accent and Know I am RIGHT !!!!! This Pizza Joint might have only been around a short while and maybe a short time longer but, their Consistency is Poor. So i have to say fuggedabout This Place until they change their Attitude as well as their hours, preparation practices, and taking shortcuts. Oh and by the way my regular Pie Sucked last time I ordered from here the pizza was like a Flatbread Pizza because the yeast never rose . Best pizza in the valley no doubt about it. The reason is because of a pizza they call 'casaligna.' It's thick and rectangle shaped and basically the greatest pizza available on earth. The thin, New York style pizza they sell is better than most in town but the casaligna is what sets this place above all other pizza places. It is simply unbelievable. read more

This is THE best pizza in Arizona. I just had a slice of their white pizza and my husband had a slice of their potato pizza. Everything from the crust to the fresh toppings was absolutely delicious! the people that work there are so nice helpful and outgoing.
