If you are a Chicago resident, you've had a Giordano's stuffed pizza in your lifetime (or in most cases, several and a few times a year.) For the price and you are paying quality price, you are getting an astoundingly gooey, delicious, filing large slice of just tasty goodness. It's always a fantastic eat but after you're done, you walk away feeling too full to want to consider food for at least another week or two (this is obviously a great thing.) For that reason, Giordano's tends to get 5 stars alone in my book because it's nearly legendary in its status of Chicago food. That said, my review is more about what I use Giordano's for these days, which is to have when people I know are in from out of town. Either for the first time or just because it's been a while, a stuffed pizza from Giordano's never fails to impress (and also fills up quite nicely as I've said.) It makes for the perfect tourist/vacationer meal and this time around was no different than the many other times I've had it. I was visiting my brother with an out of town friend so that's why I picked this particular Giordano's to review. We went in on a weeknight to a moderately full restaurant and were seated quickly enough. The waitress was extremely nice and the place looked fantastic to boot. Super attentive, pleasant all around so thumbs up for the location. As for the food, I can't help but gush over the excellence. A sausage stuffed never goes wrong and I can't help but love the mozzarella triangles they have as well. Basically this is a worthy location for the name and worth the visit if you're in the area (and more so if you're giving your guest an overall taste of Chicago.) Look forward to dining in again here at some point soon eventually. read more

I ate an Italian sub sandwich and garlic Parmesan fries which were fresh and hot and delicious. I was traveling here from Ohio going to Wisconsin and made a stop here and I am glad we did. The next time I am in Illinois, I would definitely be looking for a close Giordano's. The deep dish pizza looks great and that is what I will get the next time I am here. The girl answered the phone and asked "how may I help you?" after I informed her of my intentions, she informed me that "sorry, we do not accept pre-orders at this time." one time before i went in just before lunchtime to dine in and called 30 minutes early and the pizza was ready when I arrived. I thought to myself, "do businesses want to offer service in order to earn prospective customers' money?" I went to Lou Malnati's instead. Stopped for dinner on our way to a concert in Chicago. Made enough time to order deep dish and eat before heading to the city. Appetizer came fast and waiter refreshed drinks pretty regularly... but just over an hour and no pizza. When the manager finally brought it out after an hour and 15 minutes, saying it had just come out of the oven. By then we had no time to eat. The manager boxed the pizza and comped our meal, but we were still hungry and spent as much money on concert food. Free pizza, but in the end we could not eat it. I always eat giordanos pizza but the Willowbrook location has issues I believe . This time I ordered a large thin crust 2 toppings and a Greek salad. Paid 47.00 for delivery . Called at 830 guy said it will be a minute . Nope it arrived at 900. I get my pizza and stone cold. Had to put it in the oven. Good food, slowest service I've experienced in a LONG time. We were a group of 13 (called ahead) ordered 3 pitchers of beer, 3 house salads, and 3 pizzas for a family style meal. We were done eating for nearly 15 minutes before we were brought our bill and waited another 20 with the money and the cards on the table and nearly 10 more mins to get the paid bill back. Decided to stop here for dinner on a Sunday afternoon, the place looked a bit busy but not too crazy. Two minutes after being seated we placed our order (we were hungry so knew exactly what we wanted). I know deep dish pizza takes a bit long but an hour 20 minutes for a medium pizza is ridiculous. When the pizza came we were not even hungry anyone and we're just frustrated with our experience. Aside from the long wait we noticed that the table next to us AND the table behind us both had bad experience from the server messing up their order. That is a bit ridiculous since we all had different servers. Well it was definitely fun to have a Friday lunch consisting of pizza and beer at my favorite Giordano's location! We started with Parmesan fries which are always a hit for my children, and me, especially dipped in ranch. What specifically continues to draw me back is their glorious super veggie pizza, always hot and fresh with a healthy layer of veggies and a not so healthy layer of cheese! Yum!!! Add some fresh garlic and I'm a repeat customer. I pack on about 20 pounds every time I visit, but it's so worth it! The managers are always friendly and accommodating, consistently being concerned with a customer's overall experience. The waitress was friendly enough and did her job, although a smile is always appreciated! Also, in retrospect, turning down the air conditioning would definitely make everyone more comfortable. My family and I have been here three times and have loved each time. We end up here on Fridays and it has always been a perfect end to the week. Twice we have had a male server (sorry forgot his name). He could not be better!!! Always making sure our kids are doing well, which makes us happy. I think every time I have ordered the pizza, thin crust and very good. My wife ordered a special pasta with sausage and goat cheese. We always enjoy the leftovers the next day or two. Ordered a small deep dish sausage/pepperoni online at 4:09 PM for a 6:20 PM no contact pickup. Got there 5 minutes early to make sure I didn't hold things up. Waited outside for 10 minutes and one of the workers came to the vehicle and took down my name. Waited another 15 minutes then went inside to see what was going on with my order. Asked the woman at the register how much longer and after going into the kitchen she came back and couldn't give me an answer. I then waited another 25 minutes to get my pizza. So I waited 45 minutes past my pickup time to get a pizza that takes 45 minutes to cook! That is just poor service. At least have the courtesy to call and say they'll be late so I'm not standing there waiting forever with no explanation! I've been going here since the early 80's. So I am updating my previous review after hearing from Don the GM at this location. Don sent me an email of apology along w/ a gift card so that my family would be willing to try them one more time. This time we ordered two large deep dish and an order of bone-in wings. Much better than last time. When we got the food home it wasn't stale or soggy on the edge crust (the bottom still needs work- I suggest a layer of parchment paper so it doesn't stick to the box or vise versa as there is nothing worse than eating cardboard stuck to the bottom of the pizza when you don't know it's there). The flavor of the pizza was also much improved. The bone-in wings are definitely the way to go, plump and flavorful. Mostly they are now getting an upgrade due to Don's excellent customer service. If he hadn't responded as quickly and efficiently as he did we would never have gone back. Keep up the great work Don! read more

We ordered takeout here the other night. $60 for two large stuffed pizzas. What is this world coming to? That's pricey. When we picked up our order (a busy Friday night), there was of course no parking. They should have a few spots designated to Carry-Out only for such a busy location. While paying for our pizzas, we noticed a sign that they only cut based on request. Uhhh....why? Who wants a whole, unsliced pizza? So, we of course as for that. When we got home, the pizza was not sliced. It took a little elbow grease, but I'm definitely not a professional and the slices didn't come out as clean as I'm sure they do from the restaurant. If you want Chicago-style pizza, this is where you want to go, no ifs ands or buts about it. I would argue that the paramount "topping" is spinach, to which you can possibly add other toppings such as mushrooms (my favorite combo). They also have sandwiches and pasta but I have never tried these. A friend I have eaten with gives their calamari appetizer high marks. I have had their salad and it was a tasty appetizer to get while waiting for the pizza to cook. Hint: phone ahead to pre-order pizza for dine-in so you don't have to wait the 30-40 minutes for it to bake. You *must* dine here if you have the chance -- or if not, mail order a pizza! They Fed-Ex their pizzas (albeit medium only). It is expensive to do so but worth it if you need your Giordano's fix! read more

I just placed an order for a deep dish sausage pizza and a medium weight cheese and veggie pizza. Leas than 5 minutes later our guests brought extra food so I called to cancel the medium weight only and ask if I could cancel it the woman curtly answered no and when I stated that I had just placed the order with her and she said it would be an hour and 25 min for my order to be delivered. She cut me off and again curtly states that it was already in the oven. I don't order too much from them bc they're over priced and Falco's is a fav of ours but we do enjoy the deep dish pizza but given this lack of customer service where she could have easily canceled an order that was placed less than 5 minutes earlier( which I doubt was really already in the oven within 5 min). My wife and I were leaving Chicago and heading down to Normal, IL for a wedding. We were craving some deep dish pizza and I wanted to give Giordano's a shot since we didn't have a chance to go there when we were in Chicago even though there was one right by our hotel. This particular Giordano's is located less than 5 minutes off Route 55 so we were pretty happy. We found this place and couldn't really tell if it was open or not since the parking lot was empty and it was about 1:45pm on a Saturday. I understand that's between lunch and dinner, but I still would have figured there'd be people eating. Well, they were open so that was a good thing. We were seated and knew that we were going with a deep dish pizza. We went with the Chicago classic which is a deep dish pie with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. The waitress told us that it would take at least 45 minutes. That kind of stunk because we were starving, but we didn't want to order an app since it was lunch and we knew we had a ton of food coming our way. We also went with a medium pie this time around as we learned our lesson the last time we ordered a large deep dish pie (we still didn't eat the entire medium pizza - it's more than enough food for 2 people). The pizza definitely took all of, if not more than the 45 minutes we were told. I know they were up front with us, but I feel like that's an incredibly long time especially when there really isn't anyone in the restaurant. Oh well. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed that Giordano's sells frozen pizzas. Pretty cool, I thought, and didn't think too much more of it. Well...our pizza was served and it came on top of a circular cardboard cut out, so I put 2 and 2 together. I don't know this for sure, but I'm pretty certain the pie may have been frozen. Again, I am not certain but I can't think of any other reason why the pizza would be served on a cardboard cutout. If it's not frozen, I would strongly recommend they don't serve the pizza on cardboard cutouts. Anyways...the pizza was decent. I didn't think it was anything phenomenal and I also found it strange that it wasn't incredibly hot when it was served to us. I found that whole scenario kind of strange, especially because we had waited a very long time for it. The thing that was the main differentiator for me with Giordano's and the other famous Chicago deep dish pizzas was the crust. I am a huge fan of the buttercrust and Giordano's does not use that. It tastes almost pastry-ish to me. The crust was also coming apart from the pizza pretty easily. My wife actually preferred Giordano's over some of the competitors so it's definitely a matter of choice/taste. Service was decent throughout the meal - just a little on the slow side. I can't see myself coming back here, especially with so many other options very close by. read more

Exceed expectation on food but service is definitely lacking. I hate to give this place two stars because I thoroughly enjoyed my meal but I am ticked off about the wait. I flagged down a random waiter who was passing by asking for the bill and he told me that he will tell my waitress. Twenty minutes later I saw my waitress pass by my table without a second glance. At this point, even though I was not in a rush I felt like I was in a rush since I have been sitting in one spot for almost three hours (and I prefer not using a public bathroom). I flailed my arms to gain the attention of my waitress and was finally able to get the check. I shared the medium sized "Special" deep dish pizza with a friend. It was filled with delicious gooey cheese, marinara, sausage, mushroom, green peppers, and onions. The pizza was made perfect with its crust. I typically leave the crust alone (yes I am one of THOSE people), but I really feel that the crust and the rest of the ingredients was not a forced marriage. Their recommended portion for two people was a small but we figured leftovers is always a good thing. Surprisingly, there were not many leftovers. I was able to down just about half the pizza alone but my partner was not as hungry. So for two really hungry pizza lovers, the medium is probably defeat-able. As for the large size, you would probably receive an accomplishment or something if two can finish that. Again, GREAT food but atrocious service. On my recent trip to Chicago, my friend and I started asking people which place they thought had the best Chicago deep dish pizza... I soon discovered that everyone has an opinion, and they rarely agree. Sort of like BBQ in the south Giordano's was high on everyone's list so we decided to try it. It's a nice restaurant chain, clean and unassuming with plenty of seating and parking. Our server was very friendly, and they do serve Sam Adams beer, a big plus in my book. My parents were visiting from out of town the weekend before Thanksgiving. Whenever we go out to eat, they want to try restaurants not in their area. This time I suggested Giordano's for dinner. Their eyes got big, and they both said "Let's go." Since I'm single, I hadn't dined in a Giordano's for awhile myself. When we arrived at the Willowbrook location, there was no wait to be seated. Which was cool considering it was the weekend. The hostess took us upstairs. It had this cozy loft atmosphere. There was a birthday party on the other side of the stairs, and another large party was coming up the stairs as we started looking at the menu. Our waiter, Quentin, showed up relatively quickly considering how busy the restaurant was. I asked for (2) glasses of water because I wasn't sure how frequently he would be able to fill my glass due to the stairs and the large parties. He offered to bring me a pitcher of water. I was pleasantly stunned since other restaurants in the area give me grief whenever I ask for an extra glass or pitcher of water. Our waiter suggested the sampler platter since the stuffed pizza takes time when dining in. My parents and I gobbled it up while chatting. After we finished the appetizers, we thought we would test our young waiter's pizza IQ by hiding the Oregano. When our waiter came with the pizza, we asked him what was missing from the table. Our waiter, Quentin, with no hesitation got it right. We were surprised how someone that young was sharp, friendly, and attentive. I have always considered Giordano's to be the king of Chicago style pizza. The stuffed pizza is spectacular. Their sauce is thick, slightly chunky, and wonderfully garlicky. The crust is flaky and buttery and layered. The cheese is rich, but not overwhelming. I think their success is in the balance of these three primary aspects. I enjoy adding pepperoni, spinach on occasion, pineapple with Canadian bacon or just plain cheese. You really cannot go wrong. And yes, these pizzas take almost an hour to cook and they're more expensive, but what they make is far beyond regular pizza. Their thin crust pizza is also good, as well as their appetizers. The Willowbrook location in particular is spacious, a great location for a small dinner or catered event. read more

I have been to many Giordano's in the Chicago area and this specific location is pretty much on par with the rest of them. The atmosphere is very typical of a local pizzeria. It is a nice place for family dining. The pizza/menu is pretty good. I'd recommend eating the stuffed pizza as the thin crust is pretty much average. I'd especially recommend getting the individual lunch special stuffed pizza. It is available 11-3 every day. You get an individual stuffed pizza for about $6. Great deal. All of the employees I have encountered are nice. They are helpful and quick. Definitely check this place out for some Chicago style pizza. read more
