I liked a lot about Chicago but not their pizza . The dessert was yuck as well. Who makes a cannoli & crumble the pastry. It wasn't even soft & warm like the real Italians make it. Nasty! Yall, need to come to NYC & learn how to make pizza & Cannolis. I'm just saying. We visited Giordano's on a Saturday, when there was a Jazz Festival going on nearby in Millenium Park. We were quoted with a 45 minute wait to be seated, and advised to order our pizza ahead of time. Waiting for the initial check in took 15 minutes and another 15 minutes to order our pizza. We received a text that our table was ready, after about 35 minutes. Once seated, we ordered the appetizer sampler platter and a Caesar salad. When we were done with our appetizers, the pizza came out. Our server was very attentive with drinks. My first time in Chicago and had to try Giordano's. There is a wait time to be seated but thankfully we came after lunch prime time and were seated immediately. It takes around 45mins to bake this pizza so time yourself accordingly! Our server was really nice and they even were patient with our questions on the origins of the restaurant. We were a part of 5, we got the mixed appetizer platter to share while we waited for our pizza. We got a large deep dish pizza, half pepperoni and half veggie. After approximately an hour of wait time, the pizza arrived. Holy moly the cheese pulls. Definitely get them to serve the first few slices because getting it is an art in itself. Went to Lollapalooza and heard we need to try the pizza here in Chicago. So placed an order inside lolla for pickup. They do take awhile to make the pizzas unless it was the grab and go ones. But it is a good thing as they make them fresh. They were also very busy as many people went here after lolla as well. Staff was very attentive and always checking on customers walking in. We had had placed our order 1 hour ago and estimated time ready was 60-75 min. We got there had to wait 10 minutes as they were very busy. The interior had a lot of seating and very spacious. Terrible night. We put our name in and pre ordered our pizzas. We were sat at the estimate. Order our other food. Food came slow. Service was great. Our entree salad came out which feeds 2-3 people. It was about half the size of the side salad that was delivered behind us. We asked our server and took it back to the kitchen where the GM said she measured our salad and it was the correct size. I am very curious as to what measuring instrument they have to measure these salads BUT also am curious another the human error with this tool as the side salad was much larger. Stopped here for dinner with a friend on a Wednesday night. The place was crowded but we luckily didn't have a wait. We shared a personal size of deep dish pizza and a personal size salad: - Chopped salad (w/o bacon) - this was decent, but I would've liked a bit more flavor in the dressing. - Individual deep dish pizza with jalapenos, mushrooms, and banana peppers - didn't like this at all. The plus is that it was loaded with more than enough toppings, which was nice. Unfortunately the crust was slightly burnt and rock hard, which meant we had to eat the soggy interior of the pizza but leave the crust. I wonder if this issue wouldn't have happened if we went with a bigger size. Also the bit of the crust I was able to eat had no flavor - this was my first time trying Chicago deep dish so maybe that's expected, but it was disappointing for me. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We stopped during the holidays while we were downtown. Wanted somewhere close enough to walk to the museum we visited. Close to Millennium Park. We waited all day to splurge on this supposedly world-famous pizza -- our resort even recommended it! We ordered take-out In the resturant, and waited about 25 minutes. When we got back and opened the box, what a huge disappointment. The pizza was burned, overcooked, and the crust tasted like cardboard. Absolutely terrible. We were starving and didn't want to drive back and wait another 25 minutes for a replacement, so we tried to eat it -- but it was just awful. The only good part of our meal was my homemade Caesar salad! We even left a tip, expecting a great meal. Sadly, this was not worth it at all. The last time we have been to Giordano's and I do not recall how mad it is as we tried to get a table. It's chaotic as there's tons of ppl when you arrive inside and outside and you really do not know where to go to get a table. Literally just asking each other since it's just 2 ppl at the counter looking exhausted dealing with tons of ppl. The counter has 2 ppl standing but both do not check you in. They can do a better job when signage as everyone enters or rope off better. Tip: -If you're trying to get a table, go to the left side of the counter and she will get you on a waitlist. It's about a 20mins wait. Then you go to the right side and get in line to order your pizza only as it'll take 45mins for your pie. Then chill out and wait for your name to be called or get a text that your table is ready. -If you just want to order to go, go behind the check in counter, that's where you order and pick up your to go order Got our text the table is ready and walked upstairs to check in with a person on an iPad to cross us off while another person is walking us to our table. Very large restaurant and can accommodate small to large groups. When you're seated, get your recipe for your pizza order out and give it to the waiter. That's how they will know where to bring out your pizza when ready. Ordered a Caesar to share plus a tall glass of beer. Those came out fairly quickly. The pizza does take a bit more time. Wait staff are friendly and accommodating. Everything is fresh and very good. Definitely a must stop when in Chicago. 3 stars cuz of the unorganized process upon arrival. read more

I've been to Chicago a handful of times but never tried the deep dish - we got lots of recommendations to go to Giordano's so we tried the calamari and Caesar salad for apps and of course a deep dish pizza. One half pepperoni and mushroom and the other half a meat combo. The apps were good! We liked that they had the legs in the calamari. The pizza wasn't our style - it was filling and had tons of ingredients but the crust is only there to hold everything in, it didn't taste great. After a busy weekend in Chicago, we didn't want to go out for dinner, so we ordered delivery of a Chicago Classic Deep dish pizza. It was my first experience of a Chicago style deep dish pizza and I enjoyed it more than I expected. It takes at least 45 minutes to fix this pizza, so adding delivery time meant we waited for around an hour for our order to even arrive at the hotel. I was quite impressed that the pizza was still hot even after getting it upstairs from the hotel lobby! Having the sauce on top of a pizza hasn't looked appetizing to me in the past, but this one tasted really good and the pizza is very filling. We filled out our order with a diet soda, a bottled water, and some Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top of the pizza. Next time we'll have to try a different pizza! read more

There's great music playing in the background. Just loud enough that you can carry on a conversation. Giordano's got even buskers as the night went on. Call me a tourist, but Giodarno's served up the deep dish I loved most during my visit to Chicago--especially after trying Lou Malnati's. We wanted to try some deep dish pizza while we were in Chicago waiting for our architecture boat cruise to start so we tried Giordano's. We were greeted as soon as we approach the host. He immediately informed us that it would be a 20 minute wait to sit down and the deep dish pizzas take about 40 minutes to make so we could order it as soon as we put our name in. We did just that and ordered the 10 inch Chicago's deep dish pizza. We actually don't think we waited the full 20 minutes. I think it was more like 10 minutes before we were seated. A server came to take the rest of her order quite promptly, but we just ordered drinks to go with the pizza since the pizzas seemed quite large and filling. The pizza arrived fresh, and the person who delivered it offered to plate it for us. It was very hot, and then I realized that most of the toppings are inside along with the cheese filled crust. Honestly, I would rate the taste of the pizza for me personally a 7 out of 10 but I was curious to try it. Visited the hometown of Chicago. Giordano's is one of the big standouts for Chicago style deep dish pizza. There's always an argument of who started the deep dish pizza & who's the best. Needless to say I believe their competition is just as tasty. My cousin and I were on foot so I really don't know where you'd find parking. This location is very close to the millennial park & the Chicago Institute of Art. Also near a great location to snap the ultimate Chicago scene of the sunset beaming through the cracks of the metropolis. The service was okay. There was nothing stand out about the venue itself. To me it was pretty basic. There was also a photographer, lady who snapped shots of me and my cousin. The only thing I didn't like about that was she didn't tell us what their pictures were until she showed up with prints that were 20 bucks each. Honestly, if she would've offered a price for the digital photos I wouldn't have felt suckered into buying one. I would have willing paid $5 on top of the print. Oh well. Took about 10-15 minutes just to get to the front to put my name down. Luckily I was a table for one and got a spot to sit at the bar immediately with some NBA games playing. Placed my order for the personal 6 inch special deep dish pizza within 10 minutes, but the wait for the food to be served took an hour and ten minutes (and I was told it would take 45-60 minutes). Some bites were nice and piping hot, but the pizza was watery at times and could definitely do with more toppings, especially the sausage. And while I hear again and again that the portion sizes for even a small is really big and hard to finish in one go, the 6 inch one is really small and can be easily finished with room to spare. The staff has a method where you can pre-order your pizza before dining in. Me and my guest decided to opt for that choice. The time for us to be seated was about 30 minutes. Once seated our server Xochitl was nice, kind, and knowledgeable of the menu. As everyone knows, pizza is incredible but I opted to get their house salad as an appetizer. The dressing was a house made Vinaigrette which was great. To pair with the salad I got the mojito and my guest got the Mai Tai which was packed with alcohol and great taste. The star of the show was the deep dish pizza that included both "their meat lovers" kind and the classic "margarita" style. I don't eat pork so couldn't taste the iconic meat lovers slice. One thing I want to add is this place holds a large number of people. This place was packed with large parties & even two person party tables. Another thing that should be noted is the wait time for the traditional pizza. These pizzas are made from scratch therefore you can wait up to 90 minutes for your pizza.
