My favorite is Pana Rustika (oval, sourdough, organic whole grain rye & red fife ww flours). The outside is crispy, well, actually "hard". But the interior is super moist and flavorful. "The more you chew, the more flavor comes out" type of bread. A perfect companion for good quality natural cheese or simple soup. It's been my go-to place on my way home to grab breads for dinner. Eating quality sourdough at the end of the day gives me comfort. Many loaves are gone by the time I go, but I have had luck so far to grab the last bread on the shelf! Cookies, pies, and other treats await you from the shelves and coolers, as well as nifty things like breadbaskets to fill with your own chili or homecooked stew, or the hot-crossed buns you'll enjoy over tea on a spring morning. Several varieties of frozen Supreme-brand pierogies wait to tempt you near the front door, including those esoteric (to me) sweet and desserty varieties like blueberry or cottage cheese. Donuts, Jamaican patties, banana breads, stuffing crusts for your holiday turkey, and more yummies are available too. But me, I usually go for the deli counter. Subway? Mr. Sub? Bah! Instead of having to choose from some pre-planned, pre-sliced menu that they're going to serve me with some hoagie that's as airy as Wonderbread, Buns Master does what a proper deli should be doing. We sampled some Baps at dinner, slightly toasted in the toaster oven which was fluffy and light round of deliciousness and got two big thumbs up from my daughter. We couldn't resist sampling some scones after dinner and the double chocolate, cinnamon and blueberry were all very good. They were more chewy, bouncy kind as opposed to the more dry, crumbly version I've been used to. All in all, it was a great first experience at Cobs and we'll be back for those Baps and to try our their other offerings soon.

And at the window, on a shelf, there were boxes of 6 x butter tarts, pumpkin tarts, cinnamon buns. I took some pics, but prices seem in-line with other bakeries. Scones were approx $2.80, slice of pizza $6.65, savoury crossaint was ~$4. The female worker was SUPER helpful and friendly! She even split my loaf of bread into 2 halves so that I could freeze the other. She also told me that they don't use preservatives and everything is baked daily! So...contrary to what I thought, this place is a legit bakery. There is no seating. Just enough standing room for a few people to grab 'n go! I called to ask if I could put in an order for six plain scones, and they were able to have them freshly made and ready for me within an hour. Really impressed with the service and how accommodating they were. As for the scones, I was incredibly impressed with the flavour and freshness. They were a huge hit at a family event, and everyone loved them paired with clotted cream and jams (purchased from Whole Foods)! The scones aren't too pricey (paid $34 for 12 and I believe it was a deal if you purchased a pack of 6; worked out to about $2.90 per scone), but they are a really good size, and honestly, if you're paying for quality, I'd definitely pay for these COBS scones. You're getting fresh, flavorful scones with great variety, and they actually feel worth it. A couple of Saturdays ago, I had the weirdest veal cutlet sandwich that I have ever consumed. This experience made me crave real veal in a yummy sandwich with marinara sauce. My usual go-to veal sandwich place is California Sandwiches. I have the option of hitting Ajax, Vaughan, or Toronto to get my fix. I need at least half an hour to get to any of these locations. I found East Street Sandwiches on Ritual. My eyes zoned into the veal sandwich immediately. I added mushrooms to it, which is my usual way that I like it. I saw arancini on the menu. The last time I had some was last year and it was horrible. The rice was so hard that I peeled it off as if it were the shell of a hard-boiled egg. The filling wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered the meat and peas arancino here, hoping that it wouldn't suck. I had plans to hit Richmond Hill last Wednesday anyway. It was perfect to grab some takeout for dinner before heading home. The eatery is tucked away in a small plaza with Fat Bastard and a few other places. There were guys cleaning the parking lot, so half the spaces were taken. I waited for two cars to leave this parking lot so I could park. One got out quickly. The person in other one looked so confused and was so inexperienced as a driver that I had to wait until this person got her act together. I then backed into a spot and headed inside. The most comforting detail that I saw on the window was that this place has been kicking around since 1978. If a place has been in business for that long, the food must be great. I headed inside. I was greeted by Bruce Springsteen on the wall. It was cool. An older gentleman was behind the counter. He was so nice. I indicated that I had a Ritual order. He handed me a paper bag with my items with both hands. I thanked him. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was pleased to see a human being.
