Went with high expectations- the location is amazing, staff is super friendly and the coffee was good. We ordered the toads in a hole, monkey bread and the hash(comes with brisket) Monkey bread is loaded with bacon and was moist. I would have given the monkey bread a full 5 stars but right before it was given..they squeezed smuckers caramel sauce over the top. For something that is inexpensive to produce it would have been nice if it was more authentic..or had real caramel ... The hash......well..we should have known not to order smoked meat from place that didn't even have a smoker going at 8 AM when we got there. The meat was chewy and bland. Toads in a hole..there was zero Seasoning on the eggs..nothing was wrong..but nothing was right... I don't mind paying more for MORE but we just left feeling like we got ripped off...no authenticity..no pride in the food they serve... Maybe it was an off day? I love clam chowder, you love clam chowder, we all love clam chowder but what about clam and scallop chowder? Is the anything, besides chocolate bars, that isn't improved by the addition of scallops? Ginocchios chowder is not as thick as some but it has great flavor and tons of whole scallops and large pieces of clams. Cruising around Bodega Bay I found this nice little Bayside Restaurant. Breakfast and barbecue are the only things I've ever tried here although they do have pasta also. This particular day I decided on a little barbecue. Ordered a pound of brisket with a side of potato salad and coleslaw. The brisket was fire, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Coleslaw and potato salad were excellent accompaniments. Was pretty busy in the place I took my items to go,took about 10 minutes in total time. Outdoor and indoor seating available here. Both areas are very comfortable and enjoyable. Probably 15 maybe 16 tables in total. Tons of options on the menu something to please everyone cool place to stop when you're in the Bodega Bay Area definitely will be back to try something else on the menu next time I'm in town. read more

We spent a few days at Doran Beach and ate at Ginochio's Kitchen on a cold morning last month. They have an interesting but tasty menu and I enjoyed the Hash of Beef even though I almost never have beef at breakfast. My wife had the Cluck and Squeal and was not happy clucking about it. An adorable little ma and pa shop. So much has changed since this was once the Sandpiper. I love how you pay at the window and then go and sit down. The food comes out relatively quickly. I have to say that the female owner was super sweet and there was comforting hospitality. However, the food was just a 3 star for me. THE NACHOS $16 : HUGE and GENEROUS portion, enough for 2 people to split easily. The chips, are not homemade. I feel if they made their own chips and were homemade it would make these nachos stand out a little more from the rest. The chips are purchased yellow corn chips. Kind of reminded me of the Costco ones ? They were generous with the cheese and toppings. THE FISH TACOS $14 : You were served 2 for $14. They are grilled (not fried). The grilled fish flaked apart into mush under the bed of cabbage. The taco all in all became soggy quickly. Definitely dont order them to go and eat them quickly ASAP. There was a little drizzle of an aoli on top for a little color. I still have my favorite fish taco in Bodega Bay and would much rather go get 2 fried fish tacos for $11.95 (I will not disclose the location due to conflict of interest) THE CHODWER $10 You get a 16oz bowl for $10. Enough to share. It does say "award winning" except, I'm not sure where ? I dont know of they are in the chowder competition Bodega Bay puts on in January? Because I know Cape Fear in Duncans Mills has won the last 2 years in a row. FRIES $4 - I'm not sure what happened with the fries ? They came out pretty soggy and turned to stone rather quickly. They sure didnt hold up. The female owner was so sweet because we forgot to check in on Yelp, so she hooked us up with a special Florentine treat. The really excel in their baking skills and the florentine was the best part of the whole meal. As we were leaving we saw the chef sitting out back smoking a cigarette. Cute little spot right by the water. Breakfast items were pricey. We ended up getting five muffins and coffee to go. Blueberry muffin: 4/5 soft, moist, sweet just how a muffin should be. Bran muffin: 4/5 makes me feel like I am eating something healthy. This was good and moist too. Cheesecake muffin: 2/5 looked good but didn't taste that good. We love the sheltered patio and views of the water. We had fish tacos and nachos. Both were great and the nachos were HUGE! We shared them between the two of us and still took some home. We had a drink called Sea Pop that i had never had before and it was delicious! The day after I couldn't find my little dog crate. I emailed the restaurant and after a little back and forth they told me they found it. Then there was the question of how do I get it as I live almost two hours away. Well turns out one of the owners (I'm guessing) Patty was heading out to my area and she hand delivered it to my door!! With a WHOLE case of Sea pop!!!!!!! I mentioned I liked it and if she was going to mail the crate back to me maybe I could buy some of the soda from her. Well, she took it one step further and hand delivered it. So incredibly kind and she wouldn't take any money either! This just warmed my heart so much especially because I had a very disturbing exchange with a handyman that cheated me and then here comes another person with huge generosity. She restored my faith in humanity as they say! I love supporting good people and go out of my way to do business with people like the folks at Ginochio's Kitchen. Tried Ginochio's on our most recent visit to Bodega Bay. We had been to Spud Point Crab Co for their chowder and crab sandwiches a few times previously and thought to try some Bodega chowder somewhere different. Searched "Chowder" and Ginochio's popped up with tons of positive reviews. Ginochio's is easy to find and located on a nice spot near the water. Beautiful views of the Bay and a decent amount of outdoor seating. Home-y decor and the place is clean and well-kept, so that's always a big plus. We ordered the clam and scallop chowder, crab sandwich, fish tacos, monkey bread, and two bottled waters. Total bill before tip was around $75, kinda pricey... Chowder was not bad, but not my favorite. Nice to have the addition of scallops in a chowder but there was a smokey element to the soup that I wasn't into. Just not my taste I suppose since from the reviews lots of others love the chowder. The crab salad sandwich was good. It came on buttered and grilled sliced sourdough bread with a mild cheese as an addition. Not a whole lot of crabmeat but the overall flavor was good. The sandwich came somewhat inexplicably with tortilla chips, which was a mismatched side in my opinion. The fish tacos were kind of generic and bland, nothing very special. Tortilla chips would have been a more fitting accompaniment with the tacos since they came with small sides of guac and pico de gallo (both good). We were really looking forward to the monkey bread for dessert but unfortunately it was not to our tastes. Looked great and it seems to be a customer fave but it doesn't resemble the sweet, cinnamon-y, pull-apart type that I am nostalgic over. This one is salty-sweet and smokey so unfortunately, we weren't into it. After a few bites we figured we gave it a good chance. The addition of bacon should have been a clue to the savory-sweet style, so bad on us. People who like sweet 'n' salty will probably become instant fans. Initially we were going to try the nachos, which looked amazing but a couple that was finishing up their meal as we arrived recommended the tacos. Oh well, when in a seaside locale we're always in the mood for seafood anyway. Seems like BBQ is probably the thing to get here, so if we return, we'll try some "Q" and I'll update my review. But when we're near the ocean seafood is what we crave and tastes even better seaside, so not sure if we'll be back to G's for BBQ anytime soon. The young lady at the register was very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. The location, view and atmosphere was great. That is the only nice or positive things I have to say about this place. I do not complain about stuff and usually go with the flow. The cook was mean to the staff, refused to cook our eggs how we wanted them, when the food came the egg whites were not cooked and when I returned it to get cooked he looked at me like he was bothered with me and finely sighed and said "fine". The brisket was dry, had no flavor and when the eggs returned were burnt. I have never walked out of a restaurant but today was the first time. We only had a few bites of the food, didn't ask for a refund and just left. Honestly the cook was so intimidating and mean we were afraid he would have taken his anger out on the staff. We sat out in the patio with a gorgeous view of the marina. Mimosas were 16oz and delightful, the monkey bread was epic, so good we got 2 more pieces to go, and the burritos were gigantic; the beef brisket juicy and eggs fluffy! We ordered a massive order of Ginochio's for our wedding at a nearby campground in April. We had pulled pork, brisket, ranch beans, and cole slaw. Everything was absolutely perfect. The meat was succulent and tender, well flavored, and nice and hot still when we served it at the campground. The beans were absolutely amazing, I've never had anything like it. So good! We froze a portion of the meat and beans and just enjoyed it now in August and it was still amazing. We got the Big Papa Platter for $30. They say it "easily feeds two" but I think it had enough meat for four. They were out of ribs so we got ball tip. It was like thick slices of roast beef. My husband said he'd enjoy it on a sandwich but I was disappointed by the lack of smoke penetration into the dense cut. The pulled pork was dry and the brisket was practically jerky. Driest brisket I've had in years. The "crusty bread" that comes with the platter was actually a hamburger bun cut in half. A single pickle cowered beneath the mounds of meat. One of the better clam chowder I have had around the SF Bay Area. The clam and scallop chowder has a smoky taste and perhaps a touch of wine? I usually like a more creamy chowder and this chowder has less cream than how I would like it but I found myself eating spoonful after spoonful after spoonful and finishing the entire bowl! Great chowder. I had the monkey bread which had bacon. It taste like eating pancake and bacon but in one bite and just a little drier that a pancake. The brisket sandwich has a tender smoky sweet brisket with soft bread. I don't favor fresh onions on sandwiches but it's a good complement to this sweet brisket. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly. The shared restroom is very clean. Outdoor seating is available. Will definitely return to eat here again. read more

There are not a lot of options for breakfast in Bodega Bay, but I would return to Ginochio's even if there were several. Orders at taken at the counter at this small restaurant situated adjacent to Gourmet au Bay. My wife ordered the cluck and squeal - scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and a slice of toast. I went for the breakfast bacon burrito that included lots of juicy bacon, scrambled eggs, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Did I mention juicy bacon? It was a beautiful day so we sat out on the deck enjoying the view of the bay while waiting for our orders to be delivered. In a class in itself. Unlike the other crab sandwiches on the Point, this is made of sliced sourdough bread, grilled, heating the crab and melting the Havarti cheese. Yum! The format made it easier for this old lady to chew. The flavor was traditional with large chunks of crab. The chowder was unique - we were told later it was finished off with Mama's "secret ingredient" - with lots of tender clams and scallops and just enough potatoes to hold it together. I could eat this for every meal. My companions had the Piggy sandwich and were definitely satisfied with the flavor and texture. Since it was my 86th birthday, I ordered a Mimosa. It was OK but not great enough to finish off. The staff (owner's daughter) was super friendly and helpful. As for "ambiance", what more do you need than sitting at an outside table with the view of boats and birds over Bodega Bay? Nature didn't disappoint. You can experience the Sound of Silence. Our order was given back to us about 2-3min after I asked about our order. The order was wrong. The salsa interestingly enough was not salsa, but pico. Some friends of ours recommended this place for a brisket breakfast burrito. Having lived in Texas I'm pretty particular about brisket. But I'm going to be honest with you! This was terrific. The burrito was large. Too large for me to eat the whole thing in one sitting. The service was friendly and hometown type of service. Because we got here early and they weren't busy yet, the owner's daughter Alicia at the time to point out some of the special things in the area including a tree across the way with a pair breeding bald eagles.
