Yum, this was one of my favorite meals while visiting Bodega Bay for a week! We came on the late side so it wasn't a long wait for us at all. The woman at the window was so friendly and nice. They have outdoor seating which is obviously great to keep the 'rona away. There's wine to enjoy as well. But let's get to the food, shall we? //Clam & Scallop Chowder: We tried 5 different chowders while in the area and Ginochio's tied for first place. I loved the addition of scallops and the flavor and texture was good. //Crab sandwich: Yum! The buttery delicious grilled sourdough caresses a decent portion of crab meat and is pulled together with melty cheese. Two thumbs up and I am now a crab sandwich convert (previously I only wanted crab cakes cause everything is better fried...only I was wrong cause this rocked and I need more). //Pork Ribs: Man the bbq gods must have been shining down on me because this was the best ribs I've had in a longgggg time. The meat wasn't fall off the bone, but it was so tender and juicy. The rub was good, but I'm a sauce kinda girl and I was happy to slather these ribs with them. //Beans: It wasn't hard to talk ourselves into adding tri-tip to the beans. BEST DECISION EVER. The tri-tip was oh so tender and juicy. The beans were delicious. It was almost-but-not-quite a chili with the meat. Huge fan. I wish we swung by before we headed home to pick up more. My only hope is that we make it back up soon to try every single item on their menu. I will not rest until I do. read more

In a class in itself. Unlike the other crab sandwiches on the Point, this is made of sliced sourdough bread, grilled, heating the crab and melting the Havarti cheese. Yum! The format made it easier for this old lady to chew. The flavor was traditional with large chunks of crab. The chowder was unique - we were told later it was finished off with Mama's "secret ingredient" - with lots of tender clams and scallops and just enough potatoes to hold it together. I could eat this for every meal. My companions had the Piggy sandwich and were definitely satisfied with the flavor and texture. Since it was my 86th birthday, I ordered a Mimosa. It was OK but not great enough to finish off. The staff (owner's daughter) was super friendly and helpful. As for "ambiance", what more do you need than sitting at an outside table with the view of boats and birds over Bodega Bay? Nature didn't disappoint. You can experience the Sound of Silence. Some friends of ours recommended this place for a brisket breakfast burrito. Having lived in Texas I'm pretty particular about brisket. But I'm going to be honest with you! This was terrific. The burrito was large. Too large for me to eat the whole thing in one sitting. The service was friendly and hometown type of service. Because we got here early and they weren't busy yet, the owner's daughter Alicia at the time to point out some of the special things in the area including a tree across the way with a pair breeding bald eagles. We drove an hour for their bacon breakfast burrito. We first had it 2 years ago and since then we've been hooked. Some people come to the area for seafood ( which we do too) but save a little room for this burrito and you will not be disappointed. Jody from Boston helped us with our order. This place is a hidden gem. We come to bodega Bay every few months and found this place today. The piggy brisket sandwich is incredible. I'd drive 3 hours just for that. Holy smokes- I have never in my life had a better pulled pork sandwich!! The BBQ sauce is something my husband and I want to try to replicate! They forgot to put that (and the slaw) in the bag when we ordered so when we came back to get it, not only did they upgrade the slaw but they gave us a complimentary bag of local pumpkin spice toffee just to make up for it. The lady was very very nice, the view amazing. They are keeping up on COVID safety regulations (much appreciated). We can't wait to try breakfast there and if we didn't live 2 hours away I would eat there every day. My goodness I can't wait to try their Monkey Bread next! Mmmm... This was one of the worst places I have gone to. We were visiting Bodega Bay for a day trip and, based on the restaurant's website, we were looking forward to a nice lunch in a nice restaurant. What a flippin' disappointment! What we got was a two-bit hole in the wall place, grimy, and a staff with attitude. Unlike the website description, instead of sitting down to a nice table, we had to place our order at a counter. The menu was up on the wall. I placed my order, was given a "buzzer" device and told I could pick a table under the orange umbrella on the patio. My family ordered after me and we all found our table under the orange umbrella. When my device buzzed, I went to get my lunch. The staff had combined my order with my family's order by putting 2 trays together on the counter. I didn't know this and didn't find out until the lady who took my order explained to me what she had done. Okay - but I'm trying to hand over the buzzer but no one was taking it. There was no place on the counter to put it. The woman with the long brown hair asked me where the other buzzer was. I told her that I would get it but I had to make 2 trips - I can't carry 2 full trays. She kept asking where the other buzzer was. I just left her behind the counter fuming about not getting her other buzzer back; she didn't even bother to take mine. I found myself telling her that we were new, we've never been to this place before and we don't know the protocols. And, based on what I've experienced so far, you will never see us again - and we haven't even eaten yet. With the exception of the seafood chowder, the food was mediocre at best. The fish tacos were dry and too salty; we paid $20.00 for a hot dog on a bun. And the attitude we got with our order made this a bad experience. To the owners: You're not as good as you think you are. Lose the attitude and update your website to reflect what you truly are: a little hole-in-the-wall joint with bad attitudes and mediocre foods, not an elegant dining establishment. By the way, I hope you found the 2 buzzers that we left for you. To visitors: Ignore this place. It's more for locals than tourists. Go to The Tides Restaurant instead. At least you'll get good service, good food, and without the snarky attitude. read more

I ordered the Beef Hash with the 12-hour brisket, and my husband ordered the eggs and bacon. My plate came out with what can only be described as days old potato and brisket chunks rehydrated with an entire cup of grease. The only fresh cooked thing on the plate was my eggs. My husbands plate was mediocre at best and all of it cost more than our trip to the grocery store after to get snacks and drinks. Super disappointed with this place. read more

We were really looking forward to splitting a brisket breakfast burrito, and unfortunately didn't notice until we arrived at our picnic spot that we were given a bacon burrito instead. It was just ok. I wasn't stoked about paying $13 for a medium-sized, mediocre burrito that wasn't even the one we ordered. We have been meaning to try this place and after going for breakfast this morning - are sad we waited so long. Located in a fairly quiet spot on the water, the view and feel is beautiful. But once you walk in the door, that is where the unbeatable experience starts. We walked in about 9:30 on a Wednesday morning in early November. As we walked up to the front door, we noticed several tables drenched in the sun overlooking the water. A huge plus. When we walked inside, we were very warmly greeted by Alicia ( hope I spelled her name correctly), who is one of the owners. It felt like she genuinely appreciated us being there, and walked us through the simple process, and handed us both menus. I ordered the brisket hash and my wife ordered the "toads in a hole." I have to say, I am fairly picky with hash, and am disappointed frequently, because even though many restaurants say things like "house made," rarely does it taste that way. This one is the exception and absolutely blew me away. The brisket was smoked, very fresh, and in perfect bite sizes - almost like "burnt" ends we all search for at smoke houses. It was outstanding. The potatoes were cut to bite size pieces, and were crispy, yet soft in the center, and almost had a subtle sweetness to them which complimented and contrasted the meat. I ordered eggs over easy on top and to no surprise at this point, were cooked perfectly. My wife loved her meal and I thought the presentation was unique and pretty cool. Although I was overloaded with coffee when I arrived, I ordered a cup, which also comes with free - and I think unlimited re-fills. Again, the little things. So often restaurants serve luke warm coffee of various quality, but this coffee is freshly brewed - very high quality, plenty hot. I loved grabbing a cup for the road on our way out the door. We also ended up with a cup of clam chowder for the road, and after trying theirs, it is nothing like any chowder I've had before. Clams, scallops, maybe a bit of sherry wine - and not loaded with potato's made it simply the best chowder my wife and I have ever had. It is so obviously made from scratch - and scallops are not an inexpensive ingredient. In the days of so many restaurants selling Sysco like pre-made food, this was an authentic exact opposite. Overall, we just loved the place. When you get real homemade food - and brisket for breakfast, with people who treat you like old friends - and a spectacular view, what is better? I admit, I'm actually excited about the next time, and this is my unequivocal, absolute go to place in Bodega Bay, or for that matter, the entire north Bay Area. read more

Wow,wow,wow, we drove 1 and half hours from the bay to have lunch. We live in Reno Nv, and I would drive from Reno to eat here again. Our party had everything on the lunch menu, and everything was amazing. I am not a fan of crab, and I even thought the crab sandwich was good. The BBQ was amazing, the best I've had in CA. This place is amazing!! We called in to place a to go order for breakfast and Jodi answered the phone and You could just tell how warm and friendly she was! We drove to pick up the food and I was greeted by Jodi at the window. Again- so nice! She got our food out to us and saw our dogs in the car. She invited us to sit outside so she could meet our pups. I drove 80 miles to get to this place because of the good reviews but when I finally got there, it was a total disappointment. The food was overpriced and bland. There is no table service so I had to order at a window and pickup my food when ready, just like a fast food restaurant. I was charged $82 for 3 sandwiches and two sodas. I wanted to see how much the sandwiches were but they don't have prices posted anywhere. The place is OK but it's not as impressive as other reviewers paint it. Visited with a group of 7: The Pulled pork, baby back ribs and nachos were excellent. The crab sandwich with havarti cheese was a rip at $26 + $4.69 (generous) tip...I got a grilled white bread sandwich...and some chips (no salsa, nothing). Ate lunch here today. My wife had the clam chowder. My mom and I both had the brisket sandwich with the potato salad. We all had the monkey bread. My wife liked her clam chowder. I thought it was only satisfactory. It needed something more. It was a little basic. The brisket was a little dry but tasty. It needed more barbeque sauce to make it moister. The sauce had too much vinegar in it for my taste. The meat was cold too. It would have been much better had it been hot. The bread was OK but nothing great. The onion, lettuce, and tomato on the sandwich were fine. The potato salad was simple but pretty good. The monkey bread was good, but it has bacon on it and that didn't go well with the sweet flavors. I think it would have been better without the bacon. The service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly. The bathrooms were very clean and nice. There were some good views of the bay too. Prices were very high ($$$). For example, a small botter of water (that costs 25 cents at Costco) was $2.50. Our out of pocket expenses for the meal was close to $60. I'm not sure I'd come back here again. Went to Bodega Bay to get takeaway from Ginochios we got the 1# brisket and the small clam chowder. I'll start with the clam chowder which Loaded with flavor and clams. It was creamy and chunky at the same time we really enjoyed it. It was $10 for I would say a 16-ounce to go container , which I think is pretty steep. The Brisket was cooked with a perfect amount of smoke. It was tender and they gave plenty of burnt end pieces. It really was delicious and I would order that again for sure. The staff was very pleasant and it was nice to sit in their parking lot in our car and eat while enjoying a nice view during the Covid shelter in place. read more
