Wow, just fantastic. Great outside seating, and inside is cozy and friendly. The famous shore nachos were by far the best nachos I have ever tasted. The portions are huge. The crab meat is just piled on and will last to the last bite. The chips we're also a surprise, in that they must use some sort of proprietary ultra chip recipie, they are big, crunchy, and hold an unusual amount of toppings without breaking, and somehow do not get soggy, even to the last bite. While in St. Michaels, we were feeling a little deprived of Mexican type fare and finally found Gina's Cantina, despite the address not being available on any searches and my google map placed the location next to the Maritime Museum. Driving into town, you'll see it on you right, but it can be easily missed. Decent Margaritas, but we mainly came in for the food. I had the lighthouse tacos which had crab and other goodies and they were delicious, while the missus had the dip with veggies and artichokes. Everything tasted fresh and the staff was courteous and polite. The place itself tends to have a divey-type feel to it, but the quality of the food does not reflect that at all. Such a quaint and eccentric place to go. The menu was full of mouth watering selections it was hard to choose just one. I had the Miami shrimp tacos and they were scrumptious. I also partook of fresh squeezed margarita or two. I recommend this a a must stop for visitors. There is no water view, but the food and interior design makes up for it. read more

Interesting variety of tacos to choose from! We had the Pelican Briefs, Miami Tangoes, and the one with blackened shrimp. We also had an order of loaded nachos. All were very tasty! The chili on the nachos was a little too sweet for our liking. I had a margarita and my son had a blackberry margarita. Both were good and nice sized for the price! Very pleasant and competent waitstaff. Just note that the indoor seating is SMALL -- like, four tables tops! Bar is also small (but adorable). Deliciousness!!! We came here for dinner. First off, loved their ambience and music. The waitress was very friendly. We went on $1 sangria night. White sangria w roasted cranberry & oranges was on point! We can have multiple sangrias and it could be DANGER Bc they are so good. We had the shore nachos, my hubby had the shrimp bbq dilla and I had the Sesame Streets tacos. The nachos were AMAZING. They make their own chips and load it w crab and nacho goodness. We were full with the app. But then the main course came. My Sesame Streets tacos were the BEST tacos I've ever had (very unexpected find in Maryland!) My boyfriend and I were just visiting St. Micheal's for one night so after we stopped in the Winery for a tasting we walked right down the street to Gina's for a before dinner snack - it was about 4PM. SUPER friendly service, offered to let us taste test the beers we were thinking of getting. We ordered the 3 dip platter with bean dip, salsa, and gauc. Lured into this small cafe by reviews, I can say that most people are spot on. The food was tasty and plentiful, but the hygiene left a lot to be desired. The filthy rag that our hostess used to clean our table prior to being seated left a pungent trash smell that forced us to ask for a second cleaning. The bottle of water had visible, significant mold on the inside flip top. I started to fear how dirty our cups, plates, and silverware would be. Luckily, nothing else jumped out at me as being unacceptable. The food was creative. For the dips trio we selected the regular salsa (delicious and sweet), the mango salsa (good) and the guacamole (not very good) and the chips were very very good. Lunches were the goat cheese/mozz cheese 'dilla with the balsamic glaze (huge and good but hard to eat); the Miami Tango tacos (delicious), the Sesame Street tacos (fantastic), and the salad with blue cheese, pecans, craisins, and tangerines (very good). The drinks were ok (watermelon margaritas, vodka lemonade, and Bloody Mary). Overall, if they would just clean the place up and perhaps add some staff, this would have been a five star review. read more

My fiance and I were exploring around St Michaels and stopped at Gina's to grab lunch. We opted for a table outside because it was so gorgeous out. It was late in the afternoon so we didn't have to wait, and we were seated immediately and given menus. Kind of odd - they didn't give us a drink menu. We'd heard they had margaritas so my fiance asked for the different flavors and settled on a blackberry margarita, but a menu would have been helpful to see what other cocktails and options they offered. We also ordered the guacamole, then he chose to go with a goat cheese/balsamic vinegar/berry quesadilla, and I went for nachos. The guacamole was delicious - really fresh, creamy, and lots of chunks of onions. Personally, we like things spicier but Gina's had a great selection of hot sauces. The chips were great too, salty and crunchy. Our food then came out and it looked amazing. The nachos were piled high and covered in toppings, I was super excited. Until I tried one. This is really where Gina's fell flat for me - the nachos were arguably some of the worst I've had. The "chili" was really just a ton of different beans with little flavor, the "salsa" was mostly tomatoes in large chunks, and both of these toppings were liquidy so the chips were all mushy and soggy. There were also pieces of oranges in the nachos, which...quite frankly is just wierd. I've eaten a ton of nachos and never had fruit included in the toppings of savory nachos. So overall, these were just a huge disappointment and I ended up just picking some cheese off a few chips. I would have ordered something else but our server never came back. We ended up getting our check later and closing out with a different server. My fiance's quesadilla was actually pretty good, and a decent portion size. It was a nice change from a typical quesadilla and the combinations of flavors worked well. Overall, I'd highly recommend Gina's for drinks and chips with dips, even though the service was a little spotty and the meals were not great. read more

Rude awful experience. Walk in, two people behind the bar don't acknowledge my existence and walk away. When they come back a few minutes later I ask quickly if I can order something to take home. They stare at each other then scoff l, that they don't do takeout on weekends. No apologies. Just the way it is. Now I understand why this dive is relegated to the end of the St. Michael's business district. It's a bad fit for the town and should probably head to Brooklyn where they can be 'hip' and rude to all their customers. And it's vegetarian. read more

We came here on a Wednesday just before Labor Day. Had the three bean chili--absolutely to die for. The best $5.00 investment you could make. Then I had the tuna tacos (sesame street) that was out of this world! My wife shared the chili and then had the special burrito. Also excellent. Came here last night without reading any reviews. My boyfriend and I had gone to the winery next door and had a few too many tastings on empty stomachs so we were STARVING...I saw nachos on the menu and was sold! I ordered the crab nachos immediately when we sat down and they came out before we had ordered our entrees...and good thing. This baby was huge!! We waited to order meals, devoured the entire appetizer and were pleasantly full. Now, back to these nachos...I am no nacho connoisseur or anything, but I was a little nervous about having crab (or any other seafood) on nachos. Wanted to love this TINY, cute little Mexican place with a creative Mexican seafood menu, but....... After waiting around for a table (which is fine, since the place is very small), we were seated near the kitchen. We proceeded to wait FOREVER (like 30 min to order) and then another 30 min to get our food. This is totally unacceptable at a place this tiny. Others around us kept getting seated and served quickly so we were an anomaly not the rule, but why??!! The food was OK, but a bit on the greasy side for me. We tried the crab nachos (chips too greasy for my taste) and some sort of shrimp quesadilla (again pretty greasy). If they gave you more fresh salsa or pico de gallo, it might have offset the grease factor, but alas no. read more

We were lucky enough to get to sit outside here over Thanksgiving weekend thanks to the great weather. The food was excellent (and very vegetarian-friendly), and the service was excellent, both friendly and professional. The outdoor seating is also dog-friendly, and has a great, low-key vibe. This was our first visit to St. Michael's, and Gina's really captured why the place is so special. I'm sure it will be our regular spot whenever we visit. read more

I had the ahi tacos and they came heavily (heavily) dressed in mayo and the tuna was medium to well done. Margarita was meh as well. Was at st michaels for the first time this past weekend and lucky for me i got to try this amazing cozy little restaurant. Im obsessed with mexican food and this place was awesome.. Ordered chips and salsa.. salsa was amazing and the chips - oh boy! We got yummy homemade margaritas as well as a burrito and some fish tacos.. Everything was great and reasonable prices.. Too bad they are closed monday and tuesday otherwise would have gone again.. but there is always a next time.. Try this local gem and give them a chance! read more

Visited this place Memorial Weekend. The service was quick and the food was amazing. The homemade guacamole was hands-down the best guac I've ever had. Service was awful! We were seated at a high-top table by a woman more interested in what was going on with her phone than with us. We got water service from another woman in two different glasses,and glasses that were different than everyone else's as well. This one waitress continually came over to fill our waters when they got "low," despite leaving a container on our table. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, which was "chunky" and not as smooth as I prefer. As soon as the chips were done (not the guacamole), she took the chip dish and gave it back to the kitchen. We each ordered one of the taco dishes, with each coming with two tacos. While the tacos were delicious, it was not a lot of food for the price, and the service was extremely disappointing. read more

I went here over the summer with friends and family. The outside tables are iron with giant holes and their attempt to work around that is with slate slabs that wobble under plates and cups. The gazpacho I had tasted like they threw salsa in a blender. The "cheese plate" was bread with Swiss cheese...that's it. This after the waitress told us about several cheese varietals that the chef had been serving lately and adding that she had a nice swiss today. Not only a Swiss today. Save your time and money and do what I did: buy a sandwich from the grocery store a block away. read more
