We had the crab cakes and the Wagyu Meatballs for our apps, both were delicious! The Broiled Swordfish was seriously crazy good and my husband had the filet. The sides were enough for two people and were wonderful. We all loved the Cheesecake however, the Chocolate Brownie was just ok. They are both huge portions and shareable and all agreed that the brownie was a bit dry and lacked a good rich chocolate flavor. Prices are on the higher side but totally worth it for a great meal. The interior of this place is fantastic. Love the design for both inside and outside. They have a great espresso martini to kick things off. The creamed corn with jalapeños and bacon was a big hit as were the meatballs. Not a huge fan of the burger done a la carte but that's the way the menu is set up. Go with the prime meets and excellent seafood. Butchers burger is better. The gnocchi was great as well. Those who had the filet loved it. Only problem was half our food came out at one time and half about 15 minutes later and we were only a party of 6. They did mix the steaks up when setting them on the table but we squared it away. I know they are adjusting to just being open so it will get better on that front. Looking forward to coming back in the near future. read more

Absolutely phenomenal! Gin Gin's has a big city feel, the vibe is fantastic, you can feel the energy the moment you step inside. The design of this place is incredible, you can tell that every little detail was well thought out, it all comes together beautifully from the courtyard to the bar to the gorgeous lounge. The food was incredible! Literally the best food I've ever eaten. Our party ordered the wagyu meatballs and shrimp scampi for appetizers, the prime ribeye, swordfish, dry aged New York strip and black cod for entrees, and roasted asparagus, loaded baked potato, roasted mushrooms and creamed corn for sides. We finished off with the Aunt Gin's cheesecake and chocolate brownie for dessert. I cannot wait to go back and try more of this amazing menu. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if i could. We went twice recently, the first time was incredible. The steak was perfect, good drinks and great service. However, the second time we went was less than mediocre. 3 people in our party ordered steak all medium rare. 2 came out with no pink at all, while my husbands was literally raw. When you pay that much for a meal, you expect it to be good. Additionally i ordered the same drink twice, with the first being good and the second being horrible. I have mixed feelings but overall like Gin Gin's. I went once just for drinks and it was such a great vibe and good drinks. When I returned for a dinner I realized the place overall is very loud if you're at the dinner rush since the bar is in the same area. The appetizers were all phenomenal, but I was disappointed with my entree. The gnocchi was so gummy and dense and there was a huge piece of Parmesan that got left in it. Last night, my wife and I went out for our anniversary and decided to try Gin Gin's since it just opened. We arrived around 7 PM and the restaurant was pretty full, which made for a noisy environment. The restaurant looks great. They did a good job with the decor. There's even a wood panel bar with comfortable looking leather booths that I'll have to try in the future. The staff were pleasant, professional and the kitchen seemed to be very skilled. We decided to just order several appetizers to share rather than order any entrees. Their entrees were classic steaks, fish, a few pastas, sandwiches and salads. They didn't stretch very much with the menu, it is very classic steakhouse fare. Of the 3 small plates that we shared, the crab cakes were our favorite. They were very rich with an aioli that has a little bit of a bite to it. I appreciate a the spice, but i would recommend adding that to the description given west Michigan palettes. I was disappointed by the plate of guacamole that came to the table masquerading as ceviche. It needed some acid and maybe something to provide some texture. The shrimp scampi was another disappointment. The shrimp were cooked to perfection but the sauce included a copious amount of heavy cream that took over the dish. I would suggest less cream, more garlic and some acid as well. Overall, we had a pleasant experience, but there wasn't much that stood out as a motivator to come back any time soon. read more

We dinned in July and it was amazing! The meatballs, oysters and crab cake! The hanger steak cooked medium rare was delicious. I tried the swordfish, amazing! The cheesecake and brownie, mouthwatering! We visited again today... extremely disappointed. The meatballs were overcooked, dry and the sauce lacked flavor. The crab cakes were so spicy we couldn't finish. We decided not to even order entrees. We did get the cheesecake and brownie again, to go. The cheesecake crust was overcooked and the brownie was dry and somehow didn't even taste like chocolate. Please bring back your cooks from July. Let me start out with the food is very good. We all ordered something different to split it to get the real experience. I ordered the Wagyu flank steak and it was very tasty. Not a very large portion, but it came with fries soggy fries just when you're ordering a $39 steak, which granted is not that expensive they would not serve it with soggy fries, the swordfish was very good but very small portion. We had a nice evening, but not what we expected. Our table was less desirable floating a bit in the traffic area. We started with the meatballs, shrimp scampi and bread. Both were ok but not amazing. The steaks were ok... swimming in oil. The scallop potatoes were were chunky and also ok. None of the food was bad per se but it did not live up to the hype we were sold. I consider Butcher's Union far superior to Gin Gins. I don't know that I will go back to Gin Gin... as I think there are better options in GR. Chop House still has the best steak in my opinion. It was hard to get a table at gin gins... took us multiple attempts across multiple days. Reservations were hard to come by. The hype was real but the reality was underwhelming. read more

There are many things to like about Gin Gin's. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try a new place that we had not been to. We arrived early in the evening in order to get a table as I had read that only a few tables can be reserved (and they were full) and that they keep most tables for walk in customers, so we were walk ins. Luckily enough we got a two top in the beautiful but very small dining area. The dining room is the best I've been to in the entire Grand Rapids area. The interior design is spot on. The seating was comfortable, the lighting soft and not dim. The finishes are beautiful. (I am a retired interior designer and I wanted to inquire as to who did the design). They did an excellent job in the dining room and bathrooms. The bathrooms are private with full lockable doors, again with beautiful finishes. The food was excellent. The reason for 4 stars is because of the noise level. As the place filled up the noise became too loud and as we left I saw why. The bar/kitchen area was packed and was like a different restaurant altogether. I didn't care at all for the high top tables and the crush of people. We loved everything about our experience at Gin Gin's. We started off with two appetizers. The wagyu meatballs and the whipped burrata were fantastic. My husband and I both got the prime ribeye. I got mine with shrimp scampi and my husband got the garlic butter. They were phenomenal. We got the mushrooms and baked potato as our sides. Huge portions for two people, but we didn't mind, the leftovers were still great the next day. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie. It was out of this world. We were both impressed by how much attention to detail went into creating this beautiful restaurant. You can tell that a tremendous amount of thought and work went into everything from layout of the restaurant, the cozy ambiance to the drink and food menus. We had excellent service from start to finish. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menus. We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. read more
