Brisket Bánh mì
Chris S.

Starting with the most important part: the food at Gil's was amazing! Overall the service was very slow (but to be fair it was absolutely slammed for a Thursday night and there was only one person running the register and running food out). Of all the food that we got, the brisket Bánh mì was my favorite with the rice bowl coming as a close second. Lots of flavors and components going in to them, and for a very very reasonable price. It is very refreshing in today's market to see a business hiking up their prices significantly. Most of the items were between $12-14 with a variety of options. While Gils does have some vegetarian options, none of the sandwiches are vegetarian which is a bit of a bummer. They have a decent selection of drinks on tap with some local and some standard commercial beverages. Atmosphere is a nice, outdoorsy, sitting at the table with friends having a drink on a summer day type of energy. It took a fairly long time to get our food, but as I mentioned it's a small kitchen and staff and there was constantly a line of 5-6 people ordering. With that being said, they did a good job considering and on a nice day I don't mind the wait.

Patio area

I loved this little bar. While we were in Ashland, my husband and I went to Gil's two days in a row. The indoors is tiny, but there's a lovely patio with fire pits outside. The bartenders were awesome and their recommendations were top notch. They had a really fantastic berry cider on tap that I loved. We'll be back next time we're in town!

Pork bowl

This was my first local spot I tried in Oregon this year (coming from California) and it was all the feels of being somewhere different. The service was great, the outside tables were great for a summer evening, and the food was delicious. I got the pork bowl and it was so filling. Looks smaller than you think but I couldn't even finish it despite the simple yet tasty flavor. It was a perfect match with chips and guac on the side as well. Highly recommend.

Came in here for a quick beer& an app. This is lively little place with tons of the beers. The bartender & server were great! Got our jalapeño poppers quickly. They were very delicious hot.W/ ranch. Check it out if you're in the area I

The Grinder

My husband is obsessed with their Grinder! Packed full of flavor and the bread is perfect. I had their chicken Caesar salad, and it was good (not great), but would have preferred sliced chicken breast to the wet shredded. We will definitely be coming back next trip to Ashland. The service is top notch and their patio heaters and fire pits are the perfect touch.

Cubano!with hint of curry
Craig G.

With San Diego based Reggae bands adorning the welcoming Patio with melodic rhythms... and a cool mint and cucumber seltzer to take the edge off the warm late summer afternoon, we settled in for a big ol lunch having just returned from a brilliant Crater Lake excursion. Bae runs up the street to get a bag of chips and returns just in time for the sandwiches to arrive. We got the brisket ban Mi and cubano to split and share. Bitting into that cubano I tasted a hint of curry. I liked the crunchy bread the savory cheese melting into the slab of ham. Well I was certain my cubano was vastly superior to the Ban Mi. I was mistaken! Happily! The Ban Mi had Au jus that was a stand in for pho broth. This was pretty interesting when taking a bit of the sandwich and dunking it into the broth like a roast Beef sandwich. The slightly over thick bread began to melt and assume a less prominent position on the palette letting the carrots cilantro radishes and onion provide the CRUNCH factor. Everyone said these samis are the best in Ashland. Who am I to argue! Assuming this is a new vacation destination somewhere in the future, I will definitely do my AhhhNold imitation from Terminator... "I'll Be Back!"

Brisket Banh Mi with Pho Dip
Barbara H.

The Brisket Banh Mi with Pho Dip was incredible! After living in los angels & Las Vegas, I couldn't find a banh Mi sandwich that could compare, but I found it at Gil's! The brisket was incredibly juicy & savory & The baguette was crisp. The Pho Dip was a nice touch. I definitely will be back again for this sandwich. The restaurant itself was cute, super dog friendly & there's fire places outside. Staff was friendly & attentive. 5 Stars Oh & don't forget to get an Apple Outlaw Cider!

Super cool tractor glass

I'm for it. Good selection of beers, super cute glasses and lots of outdoor seating. I forget how many taps they actually had, but it was probably 40 or more - a good selection to be sure. Nothing super domestic so to speak (you know, bud light) but they did have a couple lagers and pilsners for those that like a lighter style. I definitely enjoyed my apricot IPA. All seating is outside right now, but I'm not even sure if they ever have seating inside - the inside space is small. Decent number of tables outside and fire pits. We also got wings - with both buffalo sauce and dry rub. I liked the buffalo sauce better, but both definitely hit the spot. Oh yeah, and their glasses are super cute - it took all of me to not go purchase one (they are for sale, but the last thing I need I another glass).

Best wings in the valley and a lot of great beers. This spot is more of a local hangout than some of the more popular, main-drag spots.

Bar Juillet: Where Perfect Cocktails Meet Perfect Fried Chicken…read more Bar Juillet has quickly become one of our absolute favorite go-to spots in Ashland and Southern Oregon. It all starts with the best fried chicken you'll find anywhere in the region. Hands down. This restaurant and cocktail bar delivers on every front. The cocktails are crafted with real skill and balance, and their wine list is outstanding a thoughtful mix of local favorites and world-renowned producers that shows just how seriously they take their program. I've eaten here multiple times, and one thing you can always count on is consistency. The service is warm and attentive, the food is always executed beautifully, and the atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the night. They do get busy on weekends, so reservations are smart, but even if you end up waiting, it's absolutely worth it. And if you can grab a seat at the bar, do it. The bartenders here make it an experience all on its own. Reliable, delicious, and truly one of Ashland's standout spots. Bar Juillet never disappoints.

I'm saddened. I've…read moreworked in restaurants my entire adult life. As a chef at two James Beard-winning restaurants, a server, owner, and consultant, I have dedicated my life to the food industry and the people within it. I'm from Ashland, and I was so happy when places like this started showing up in my hometown. Good food and atmosphere can be so hard to find. Coming home to Ashland can be a true oasis for my family. My wife and I have made it our life's mission to make our daughter feel equal and included. Our daughter was born with a rare condition called AMC and does not have normal function in any of her limbs. She currently spends 3-4 days a week in physical therapy to continue building strength so her body and organs can function properly. We were visiting family at the park and suggested stopping in for a beverage and snacks to escape the heat after a long day. We typically plan everything ahead to ensure wherever we go can accommodate my daughter's wheelchair and needs. When we arrived, we thought, "Wow, perfect, she can wheel right in and up to one of the many open tables." Once we were "greeted" by the host, I realized we were not who she wanted to deal with. Three kids, three adults, a stroller, and a wheelchair. She looked like she wanted nothing to do with us, like we were dirt on her shoe. "No reservation," she said. I replied, "Yeah, so sorry, we figured since it was a Monday night right when you opened, and there were only two two-tops seated, we could probably find somewhere to sit." I reassured her we would not stay long enough to impact reservations at the larger front tables, which usually have reserved markers on them but did not at the time. We could all feel that she didn't want to seat us, and we left despite me practically begging to make something work for us, because I know she could have if she wanted to. Being from the industry, I understand what kids can do to an atmosphere, and I know a lot of restaurant workers don't enjoy dealing with other people's children. But when we went outside and my daughter cried and said, "They didn't want me there" So I loaded my daughter's wheelchair back into the car so I could carry her up the stairs at Brickroom, where one employee was working the entire place and took amazing care of us, I might add. We resorted to a booster seat for my daughter since she couldn't use her wheelchair there. She ended up falling out of the seat and slamming onto the hardwood floor. She cried and was embarrassed. The young man tending bar while also waiting every table rushed over with a bag of ice to comfort her. It was honestly touching how kind he was. When we left Brickroom, we had spent more time there than we originally intended to spend at Bar Juliet. As we walked back by Bar Juliet, we noticed the restaurant was still only about half full, and one of the large front tables had remained open the entire time from around 4:10 until 5:40 when we walked by again. I had to stop and ask the host why she couldn't have seated us considering that table never filled. Her only explanation was, "Our kitchen is slow getting food out." Such an incredibly weak excuse. I hope she understands she was wrong and that she made my daughter feel unwanted simply because accommodating us wasn't convenient for her. I have never left a review in my life, but I was so saddened and disgusted by this experience that I felt I had to.

We had a great meal at The Noble Fox! Parking isn't super easy nearby, so if you are already parked…read morein a lot or structure, stay there and walk. It's just off Main Street. We went in at dinner time on a Thursday. We were seated right away without a reservation, but you can make one online. I could see them being busy on a weekend or a busier part of the season. There are tables for groups from 2-6. They also had some pinball and other games in the back (as well as some board games in a side room). We didn't find out the ins and outs of the games, but it makes it feel like a place you are welcome to stay at for a while. They had a great kids menu. Our girls both wanted pizza and the observant server recommended they share a pizza because they are not small. It was accurate and kept us from having a whole leftover pizza, even though the prices were reasonable and it would have been a good value. The two adults shared the spicy cauliflower from the appetizer menu and the quesacarnitas tacos. Both were seasoned well, very flavorful, and all around delicious. The cauliflower wasn't super spicy, but it was super tasty so we weren't mad. The place is a brewery but we had cocktails. My husband said it was the best margarita he had on our trip and tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. My Paloma was also good! Overall, we were super pleased with our visit. Gluten free items are marked clearly and there is also a gluten free bun and pizza crust to choose from. Highly recommend before or after a play or a day of shopping in the Main Street area of Ashland.

So I have to open this up with a reason to why I had to come here on my wife's and I road trip. She…read morereads a lot and she sometimes gets the audio books and says "YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS" So the legends of thezmarr by helen scheuerer is a fun story I got hooked on and my wife loved that we can talk about it so it makes it that much more fun. There is a tavern called "the laughing fox" so I told My wife we need to go here or Kip would be anger (Kip being the character that loves going to that tavern) she did not get it at first but when I did the hint hint wink wink she understood me. Needless to say ... The Noble Fox not only filled the fun of the book they also came through with how Delicious and amazing of a place it is. I was sad they did not sell their cups with the Fox on them or hats... I would have been all over it... lol Now the review The Noble Fox is an amazing resource that matches the vibes and of the clever and tempting Fox. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They allow dogs on the patio and the views and comfortable nature is amazing. We were hosted by Aarron and he was amazing, made sure we had what we needed and was considerate to every question. He was great for suggestions and overall hosting is such an important characteristic so we appreciate you . The food... I'll be honest we planned on just having. A drink and some fries... but the menu was just too intriguing especially to a couple that loves to cook. Soooo my wife got the harvest salad and I got the fish and chips. The fries were amazing... they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. We could not stop eating them. The harvest salad my wife enjoyed, we enjoy good salads and the berry and chopped seemed like something we have had before so the Harv had some unique takes with the dressing and fresh toppings. She enjoyed it but said it would be more amazing paired with salmon. Which is unfortunate because she was just recently deemed allergic to it. The fish and chips... just get it.. don't question it just get it... most fish and chips just focus on the lemon, salt or tartar to give the fish flavor... nope... the noble Fox understands the fish and batter need to be pre seasoned then seasoned after . The batter needs seasoning and I just need to say that fish was not going to survive my plate. If there was a second one I don't think it would survive the place. Arron also read my mind. Their tartar sauce was delicious...but he opted for malt vinegar and that was the end of it all. Overall the Noble Fox will be a destination stop for us every time we come down this way. It's an amazing little spot and there is a lot on the menus that brings fun and unique flavors in. They have great service , an arcade room , a private game table room and a welcoming environment. Also if you read the books ... you have to go ... what would Kip do?
