The staff was incredibly friendly, and when they heard I was looking for something I couldn't get in Florida without selling a kidney for it, they steered me forwards two incredible picks. It seems that you can only buy hard liquor in state controlled stores and not supermarkets. Laws governing the sale of booze have been around since 1844 in Oregon. When I was walking back to my car late one evening I heard some young men talking about going to California to buy some liquor. The first store and biggest sign after you get in to California reads buy liquor here. A clean store, well stocked, no shelves of smut, and nice people make this store at least 3+ stars. read more

They had what I was looking for, including some other very nice higher end selections that I wouldn't ordinarily expect to find in the middle of Ashland, OR. I was looking for Basil Hayden Whiskey they had it but didn't have Sweden's Purity Vodka and said they would look into it, so helpful! Good selection for the amount of space. Overall, staff is friendly. There is one particular cashier who constantly rings me up while she is talking on her cell phone. Incredibly unprofessional and impersonal. Inexplicably, there are what looks to be "tip jars" by the registers?! Who gets tipped for ringing up retail goods? This isn't a food establishment. Just super weird. I would definitely welcome another liquor store in town. read more

Myself and my family have been patronizing this store for over a decade, always great service with a smile. Need help finding something, no problem. Need help deciding, again no problem. These guys hand deliver to all the restaurants in downtown Ashland, hand deliver I mean the use of hand trucks, no gasoline burned in the downtown area. They are doing their best to keep their carbon footprint low. Great store, great people ! The city of Ashland, not the store, now charges a bag tax, so they only will give you a bag if you ask, because they don't want to have to charge you 10 cents for a bag. I just had a very quiet lady help me with gin and tequila for a party. At first I thought she was bitchy, but, no, she's just quiet. Knowledgeable. Holy crap. She knew her stuff. I got the Olmeca Altos tequila and the Rose City gin, and I think she was dead on about the tequila. I haven't tried the gin, yet. She was really nice. The store could use some delamping. Recommended! Woohoo, indeed! Friendly folks whose employees have been there a long time, hence knowledgeable and helpful. Open 7 days a week unlike many OLCC stores (state controlled hard liquor). Regular selection of whatever hootch is allowed to be sold. Also nice is the wine store downstairs: Ashland Wine Cellar. Parking is a little tough on a busy street, so Oak Street next to the Standing Stone Brewery is a better bet. read more

I have had great success in hear talking with them and discussing options from Gin, Bourbon, and Tequila. I never feel pressured, or that they are trying to upsell me. They answer what I ask and offer suggestions if I ask. Pricing is typical for the area so no complaint here. I definitely will keep buying from them. read more

First, the good stuff: the staff is friendly and helpful. The selection is good for a store of this size (i.e., not very big). They will order things for you. It's local; it's warm and fuzzy; the town of Ashland hasn't figured out how to put a tax on them yet. That said... is it 1930 where Ashlandics can only buy liquor in one store in a town of 20,000 and they close at 7 pm on weeknights, 8 pm on Fri and Sat night, and 6 pm on Sunday? For someone who works late, it's inconvenient. And... it does seem by now that this town should have more than one liquor store. We have four pot dispensaries. At the least, I'd lobby for later hours. read more

Over priced and constipated by the male cashier who has the personality of nothing. They just started charging for bags with no sign or notice. Was it just lil old me? I had been there several times without such a stipulation. Methinks I smell a rat. I won't be returning. I bet the next person who came in wasn't asked to pay a fee for a bag. Or maybe not.....but Mr. personality informed me of the extra BAG fee after a 40 dollar purchase. SERIOUSLY? I don't think so. My recommendation to everyone I know will be NO WAY. NO HOW. Least welcome I've been made to feel in any store I've been in for a very long time. No Hello, no Goodbye, no Thanks. In fact I think I thanked HER after the transaction, and she replied "No problem". Not "You're welcome", or "Thanks for shopping here", or even a fake smile. Won't be returning here, even if it's the only liquor store in Ashland. Dropped $60 on two nice bottles, and brought my own bag. But when I asked if I could have a paper bag for one of them so they wouldn't clang together, she said nothing, and her facial / body language EXUDED "why are you putting me out?". Really really lame; if you hate your job that much then it's time to move on. Just the slightest effort at courtesy and I never would've felt compelled to write this down. And I've been there; spent 6-7 years of my younger life working behind liquor and convenience store counters. read more

horrendous. you can't get away with the type of operation these guys are running in such a small town. well, you can, but it's just so disrespectful to the community. any time you stop in here, you're immediately hit with a vibe from counter staff that feels like you're interrupting them by going in. The product selection is super limited, but also super confusing. I'd suggest the ppl who own this either take some hints from the liquor store up the road in Talent, or just shut down completely and end their ever-palpable misery. Don't DARE stop in here if you're under the age of 60 - spend your $$ somewhere else. The whole staff will treat you like you're a criminal from the moment you step foot in the door. This place deserves a star for at least being clean, but I have a feeling that's the influence of the draconian downtown project rather than any sign of the owner/operators giving a crap about whether you shop there or not. Again, take the time and gas to go up to Talent - it's worth not dealing with the attitude, and what you're looking for probably isn't at this one anyway. read more

I went on OLCC's web-site to find an "allocated" bottle of liquor for a Christmas gift. Closest bottle was located at Ashland Liquor. I called the store verified it was available for sale. Asked them to set it aside for me. I was told, "sorry first come first served, store policy". I drove twenty miles to the store and talked to a second employee who told me yes they had the bottle for sale. He retrieved the bottle and he placed it on the counter for me to purchase. As I was paying an older guy walks up to the counter and says the bottle was already sold. I was somewhat taken aback. I told him OLCC online says it is still in inventory and for sale, two store employees said it was for sale. Now I assume this guy must be the owner / manager. He was rather indignant and told me I should not believe everything I read on line. I told him I believed OLCC, and I believed his two employee's. This jerk threw his two employee's under the bus because he did not tell them he was holding this bottle back, and violating his own store policy, by holding this bottle back for a friend or special customer. I did not appreciate his attempt to make me look foolish nor how he made his employee's look like idiots for doing their jobs. This guy is small. If he had just admitted he was holding back the bottle for a fried or a special customer I would understand. The way he handled this made him look small and petty. I will not return to this store. I will tell of this experience to all my friends and family. Will review on other sites too. read more
