I honestly never would have discovered this place if it wasn't for booking the Airbnb upstairs. I…read morealmost skipped it because I was under the impression it was strictly a wine bar, but I would have missed out big time--they actually serve top-shelf cocktails in both the wine bar and the restaurant downstairs! The Highlights: * The Drinks: I spent some time at the bar and Paolo mixed up some of the best top-shelf Old Fashioneds I've ever had. Perfectly balanced and high-quality. * The Food: After some live music, I headed downstairs for dinner. Todd in the kitchen is a master at his craft--he made me the most incredible Smash Burger. As a burger connoisseur, I'm putting this firmly in my Top 5. * The Stay: The Airbnb upstairs was very nice and comfortable, making the whole experience seamless. Final Verdict: Don't let the "Wine Bar" label fool you--this is a full-scale culinary destination. Between Paolo's cocktails and Todd's burgers, it's a powerhouse. I'll definitely be back!

We didn't hear any noise coming from any of the other rooms, which was nice. We liked the ease of checking in and out. Note, the rooms are on the second floor and no one is there to help you with your bags. Be mindful of what you take because you'll have to haul it up the stairs. No big deal, but we werent expecting it. I would like to note that our visit to the wine lounge was a little "off." We definitely got a "oh no, people are here" vibe from the staff. We were the only people in there for awhile and felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. It seemed like we had intruded on their social time. We met someone in the hallway while we were getting into our room and she was VERY friendly and welcoming, which made the vibe in the lounge stand out that much more. As such, we had no particular desire to have drinks there again during out stay. That being sad, we would stay there again. We particularly enjoyed the morning visit from a local cat who walked by our window. :)

Learning of my need for a nonfat dessert, to my utter delight she concocted a confection with fresh berries and nonfat Greek yogurt (bringing two spoons, of course). Then, to my astonishment, in honor of our 25th, she comped us her delicious creation. That she is the very talented chef's granddaughter positions her to use her ingenuity; that she works with passion, compassion, and good taste comes from Dani herself. This young lady is a gem. Jacksonville Inn Restaurant is indeed fortunate to have her.

The atmosphere was spectacular. Warm and cozy inside with the Christmas lights and season happening outside through the picture windows. Sat at the bar and had a great conversation with a local couple. Our drinks were wonderful and amazing. Mine was even custom as the bartender took the ingredients I wanted and made a really tasty drink for me. Made our special date night really over the top.

We walked in this place, and the bartender rudely told us to leave. We asked why, and she looked at us dumbfounded and said, "Because you can't have a baby in a bar! You all need to leave now!" We we're all shocked at how rude she was. It's not like we were going to buy the baby a beer? But, all of the girls started to walk out and I asked the bartender if I could just have a drink while they all waited outside. She said she wasn't going to serve me and that I needed to leave right then. There were a few other customers that stood up for us and told the bartender she was being rude. One couple even offered to buy us a round at another bar so our night wasn't ruined from her. Long story short, we won't be back just based on how rude the staff was.

So while there are no mask requirements, I wore one the entire time. I was mostly the minority but hey, if it keep my head in the right space what do I care?!? We saw a comedy show on the grass and it was very enjoyable. This was walking distance from where we were staying which was also great. If I can take a getaway and largely leave my vehicle parked then I'm a happy camper. I cannot speak to the vendors or anything else. I didn't use those or the restrooms. The show was really about an hour and a half and about a ten minute walk, so no need. You can buy seats but I liked the idea of bringing a blanket (we forgot ours but the canvas painter's drop cloth purchased at Ace Hardware did the trick) and sitting on the grass. That way you decide how far apart you are. All in all a good time for a nervous Nellie. I really need to get a life (haha). I'd try it again.

Secondly, the regulation of cell phones, Albeit a good idea, seems to be at best unconstitutional. Maybe it was just me...
