Over the past year, however, I started experiencing an issue where the system would randomly shut off while I was playing. The first time it happened, I assumed it was just dust buildup. I watched a few videos, removed the side panels, cleaned the fans, used compressed air, and thankfully that solved the problem for quite a while. Recently the issue returned, and this time cleaning it myself didn't help. After doing more research, I learned about a common PS5 issue involving the liquid metal inside the system Because my console had been stored vertically since day one using Sony's official vertical stand, years of use had apparently caused the liquid metal to shift enough to create overheating problems. I started calling around for repair options and was being quoted turnaround times of 7-10 days. Then I remembered seeing videos from InstaFix on TikTok where they specifically discussed this exact PS5 issue and showed how they repair it. I called their Lake Forest location and spoke with YZ. Right away he was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer my questions. Since the Fourth of July holiday was coming up, I asked about turnaround time and was honestly shocked when he told me most PS5 repairs like mine could be completed in about an hour to an hour and a half. I drove over from Orange County, dropped off my console, and YZ walked me through what they would be looking for and what the repair process involved. True to his word, about an hour later I received a text that my PlayStation was finished and ready for pickup. When I arrived, YZ explained exactly what they found, what they repaired, and what I could do moving forward to help maximize the life of the console. What I appreciated most was that he wasn't trying to upsell me on additional services. In fact, he told me my PS5 was actually in pretty good shape overall and that the repair they performed should resolve the issue. The repair also came with a one-year warranty, which gave me additional peace of mind. The total cost was $150, and personally I felt that was completely fair. Some people may look at that number and hesitate, but when you consider that a new PS5 costs well over $500, the expertise required to perform the repair correctly, and the fact that I got my console back fully repaired in about an hour, the value was obvious to me. In a world where it's becoming harder and harder to find businesses that combine expertise, honesty, fair pricing, and excellent customer service, InstaFix absolutely delivered. YZ treated me with respect, communicated clearly throughout the process, and got me back to gaming the same day. If you're dealing with PS5 overheating issues, random shutdowns, liquid metal concerns, or any other console repair, I would not hesitate to recommend InstaFix. This was one of the easiest and most professional repair experiences I've had in a long time.

(This review is a 2 for 1. The Geek Squad AND the store)…read more The GOOD, Bad, and Ugly: GOOD - Mira! She works in the Geek Squad area. I know nothing about setting up computers. I am a wiz-kid using them. I purchased a new computer but needed everything installed and set up. Yes, I know, everything is intuitive and should be very easy, but this girlie, is missing "intuitive" brain cells. **shrugging my shoulders with a tilt of my head**. I made an appointment and brought my computer in for set-up and software installation. (yes I had an appointment). Mira walked me through the process, asked relevant questions she needed and answered all my knucklehead questions. When there were people who just popped in trying to get her attention to ask a "simple question", without blinking an eye, she nicely asked them to make an appointment if they hadn't already done so or to take a seat and she would "try" to help them after me. I made a comment to her because she didn't seem annoyed or flustered with the endless drop-ins. She said it was "part of the job." I told her she definitely went to the head of the class when it came to customer service. I also warned her that I would be writing a Yelp review and mention her name. (corporate can you give her a raise? After all, she is a starving college student. I'm sure you remember those days, right???). If Mira is any indication of the Geek Squad's standard customer-service-comes-first attitude, they have me for life and I will be singing their praise to everyone and anyone who will listen. I'm sure the other Geek Squad reps are equally patient and professional and have a sense of humor just like Mira. I would like to note, several of my friends depend on the Geek Squad when they have computer or printer or other such problems and they are always praising the Geek Squad and now I see why. GOOD part 2 - The sales person who sold me my laptop, the various software, printer and monitor. He was a great representative of the staff working at the Best Buy in Ir one. I brought. Friend with me because walking into a store like Best Buy, I am a deer-in-headlights girlie. My friend purchased so many different things from Best Buy and always talked about the service and patience they had with her. People think I ask a lot of questions, well my friend asks a zillion questions that I wouldn't even have thought to ask. Hence the reason why I brought her with me, I really wish I knew the sales persons name. If I find it on the receipt or his employee number I will be sure to update this. Like I previously mentioned, his patience, and customer service was the same we experienced with Mira with the exception, this gentleman, explained differences from one laptop vs another or features, a monitor had vs another monitor. He never one tried to up sell me something. He asked me very important questions that directed us to the laptop that would meet MY specific needs. He never rushed us to make a sale. What a wonderful experience! It's almost like out of the "Apple Store" or "Chick-filla" playbook. BAD/UGLY - this is only a slight bad or ugly comment. The only thing I want to say is if you get a sales person who doesn't seem to want to help, please either immediately leave, ask for assistance from someone else, or ask to speak to a manager. Several months ago, before my purchase, I went there to purchase a modem. I had no idea which one to buy. When I first walked in I was told they would send someone over to help me. After 20 minutes a clerk came by said hello and said he would be with me in a few minutes. He then walked straight past me to other people who came in after me. I get it if staff gets paid on commission. But he didn't have to be so rude or dismissive. I have the patience of a Saint and would have simply bought time reading all the different modern specs but his attitude and behavior turned me off. Suffice to say, I wouldn't put up with it now especially since receiving the OUTSTANDING service from Mira and that other sales clerk #2. (I still gave them 5 stars although my gut says, 4.75.)

My work computer mouse stopped working - needed a replacement that I knew my company would reimburse me for. It said online they had 3 of a model I wanted. Can't call them 'cause they don't care enough about their customers to have a phone anymore. Do you think they had them? Nope!! I stood around while they looked for 15 minutes. This has happened to me here so many times. Asked the manager if he could give me the model up at the same price. I'm sure they'd still make a profit and that's what I would do as a retail manager. BIG struggle later, he said he'd only give me 6 bucks off. Why make the customer actually happy with good will? ...go to the front, he will tell them. Do you think he told them? No. Once the guy at the front finally radioed back to him, he was stumped how much to take off... 6 bucks! We'd both told him. Now I stood there as this guy couldn't do the 6 dollars off math in his head and got out his phone calculator to figure out how much to charge me. Are you kidding me? Fed up and enraged, I walked out in the middle of the sale. THIS IS WHY WE F' ING HATE YOU BEST BUY!!!!

I did try finding it on my own but wanted to make sure I was getting the right thing. Tall with dark hair and glasses. I told him I was looking for a cord for my phone charger since mine broke. I showed him my phone and he told me I needed to get the wall base plug as well. I said no I just needed the cord. And then he kept telling me I needed the base as well. I knew he was trying to upsell, and coming from a retail background I totally get it, but please take the first no as a no. I told him forget it and that I was leaving and going somewhere else. When I was walking out again no thank you, no nothing, no "have a good day" . I don't know who trained these employees to have customer service skills. I guess they hire people who have none. My iPhone 17 Pro Max has been having serious, persistent problems for the entire 10 months I've owned it. The phone does not reliably work. It fails to make calls, receive calls, send and receive texts reliably, maintain connectivity, access the internet properly, and even caused problems with my maps/navigation. A PHONE is supposed to fucking function as a phone. I should not have to repeatedly restart it, document "Call Failed" messages, contact AT&T over and over again, and spend countless hours troubleshooting a device that is supposed to work out of the box. I have extensive documentation of these problems and have spent months dealing with AT&T about them. This isn't some random complaint I walked into the store with. This has been an ongoing, documented problem. I went to the Irvine Spectrum Apple Store on September 29, 2026, because I needed Apple to actually address the problem. Yes, I was late to my appointment. My phone doesn't fucking work. My connectivity and maps were not functioning properly, which is part of the exact reason I was going to Apple in the first place. This was a week and a half of waiting! Instead of being treated like a customer who had a legitimate problem, I was treated like an inconvenience. I was literally told to my face that "you will never get this phone replaced." Never? That's an absolutely absurd thing to tell a customer when the device is experiencing ongoing failures and has already gone through extensive troubleshooting. The employee ultimately wiped my phone, which took approximately 55 minutes, and it still didn't fix the problem. So I lost my information, wasted even more of my time, and walked out with the exact same malfunctioning phone. And while I was sitting there waiting through this ridiculously long process, I asked if I could use one of the phones in the store. The employee's response? "You can sit and watch paint dry." Seriously? That's how you speak to a customer who has spent months dealing with a malfunctioning phone and has come into your store asking for help? The attitude was rude, dismissive, arrogant, and completely unnecessary. I'm not asking Apple employees to kiss my ass. I'm asking them to do their fucking jobs and treat customers with basic respect. I have been an Apple customer for years, and I have never been treated this way at an Apple Store. And let's be very clear: Apple products can have defects. Apple is not above manufacturing a defective device, and Apple is certainly not above having software, iCloud, cellular, or other technical issues. Telling a customer "there's no problem" doesn't magically make the problem disappear. If your troubleshooting process doesn't fix the phone, the phone is still not fucking working. I am escalating this matter to Apple corporate and preserving my documentation. I have records of my interactions with AT&T, screenshots, screen recordings, service history, and documentation of the ongoing failures. The attitude I received from this store was completely unacceptable. "Sit and watch paint dry" is not customer service. "You will never get this phone replaced" is not a resolution. And wiping someone's phone only to send them home with the same malfunctioning device is certainly not fixing the problem. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. I also told them I was going to off myself over this and they didn't seem to care! sooooo cute
