I loathe having to deal with cell phone issues, and that includes buying a new phone. (Its like buying a car these days!) But when my phone goes out, you do what ya gotta do. I head straight to Best Buy in Irvine evrery time, going on 23 years now. So what makes me sit down to write a review today? Greg Bernal. He's the Verizon specialist. This guy is impressively well versed on the best & worst phones & cell service. He's helped us negotiate the phone & cell service quagmire a few times over the years. He's also a computer expert as well, and has helped us there too. What i appreciated about this visit was, thanks to Greg's advice, i did NOT have to buy a new phone yet. He told me what to do & say to Verizon, which worked beautifully and Verizon lowered my bill and fixed the problem over the phone. But a new phone is on the horizon for us, and i can assure you, I'll be right back to Best Buy in Irvine, MY STORE, to buy the next one! Last comment: About the manager of this store, Ricky. Dont know him. I dont know where he gets these exceptional employees, or what he does for them, but our personal experience of every sales team rep or Geek Squad member is its always memorable and leaves us very happy with the experience. We have found them to be knowledgeable, and generous with helping us find what WE need or want, not a store's sales agenda. Never transactional. Thats exceptional. This must be a loyal & trusted manager, because his people seem the same and genuinely happy to be there. They stay, for years. Greg Bernal is certainly representative of all that. Rock star. Angel spent time to explain different computers and their features and options in details. I decided to wait for a few days and see if the one I wanted would go on sale. And it did, starting Monday. $450 off! However, this location had none in stock when I called to check. Best Buy online stated South Coast location has one left in stock or order online to get it by 10/8. Decided to come back and give Angel the sale as he already spent the time and helped us out. The transaction was quick and easy since I already knew what I wanted. Purchased and paid here to pick up at South Coast! Angel was very diligent and provided us with great service. It is truly a shame that such a large retail chain is completely unable to assist in resolving this issue or offer any alternative solutions especially since the TV was not cheap. Nothing like conversing with the Best Buy Chatbot. Let me know that I missed my appointment, when actually I didn't. Scheduled my appointment by phone, went there only to find out that the geek squad doesn't attend to iPhone speaker repairs. They let me know that the other locations still have the needed materials, but not at this store location anymore. I also found out that my Best Buy total membership, apparently has auto renew, with a not low fee in my opinion. I didn't even know I had this and paid for it. Thankfully, the geek squad showed me how to navigate through the Best Buy page because that's the only way to cancel it! The employees were very nice at the geek squad, and at the front end. But when you go toward the back of the store with the higher priced larger ticket items, In my opinion, those are the older sales people who have been working there for quite a while, and are not as courteous. - if you ask them where the restrooms are at, they look at your hands to make sure you don't have any items and then let you know where the restroom are to prevent vandalism. read more

We live in Orange and we were told that the Irvine Lake Forest Best Buy was the best store for dash cams and installations. We drove down there, purchased the dash cam, picked it up in Tustin, and made the appointment for the following weekend. We drove down a second time to discover we were not sold the correct dash cam. We returned the product and the tech told us we could buy an outside cam and still have it installed. It just took me 25!!! minutes to make another appointment. It is AI for the beginning (no phone service into the store), no ability to make an appointment on-line. Finally, received a real representative. So, we will be making the 40 minute one way trip a third time!!! read more

I came in a few months ago to finally get a Kindle after years of debating it. The employees were very helpful and walked me through the pros and cons of all the Kindle models that they currently had in stock. In the end, I decided to get the Kindle Colorsoft Signature, and it just might be the best purchase I make this year. I was able to get a year's warranty on this model that allows me to replace it free of charge if I have any issues. While I will always prefer physical books to ebooks, I love how convenient it is to travel with a Kindle. I'm also able to borrow ebooks from many California libraries without having to leave home. I would say that I definitely got my money's worth. read more

Paid for a Samsung oven microwave combo. Waited almost a month for it to areive to the store. They gave me 5 days to pick up. On the 5th day, I tried to call for an extension. PROBLEM 1: NO DAMN WAY TO CONTACT A STORE PROBLEM 2: I couldnt pick up by the 5th day and they sent me an email that they canceled my order and refunded my money! This is the only best buy closer to my house. It had everything I had in stock. However, the service was not that great, and the male employee was very condescending. It seemed like the workers did not want to help out their customers, so it made the customers (including me) a little uncomfortable. Well Ive been a huge Best Buy customer and even purchased their TOTAL TECH Membership a while back #TotalTech Was I shocked to find out that Best Buy recently changed their policies on INSTALLATION. One of the biggest draws in purchasing a total tech membership is that you can buy a product at Best Buy knowing that these products can be installed for free. Not only that, if anything happens to my purchase I used to be able to call Best Buy's 800 number and they'll send out a Geek Squad to fix it for FREE! It was the best deal ever. WAS...cuz it no longer is, and I am sad. I mean angry sad. I've turned so many people to Best Buy because of this, and 9% out of 10 have purchased the TOTAL TECH membership as a result of sharing my experience with them Now we're all pissed. Why? Because Best Buy now charges $129.00 for having someone come in to install your purchase. Sorry Best Buy, you lost a customer here. I came here to buy a new router and had one pulled from the shelf, literally standing a foot and a half away while reading the box. As I was in the middle of checking specs against a document on my phone, an employee walks right between me and the product I was clearly examining, asks if I need help, and before I can even finish responding she scans the box and takes it away--because it had apparently been sold online. This was the only one left in the store. When I pointed out that I was actively looking at the box (after having just held it in my hands minutes earlier), she was dismissive, rude, and didn't bother with even the most basic courtesy of an apology. She just walked off with the item. The other staff I spoke to weren't any better--they shrugged it off, saying that since I hadn't "purchased it yet," the online order took priority. Which is absurd--if someone is physically in the store, already holding or examining the last unit, you don't rip it away to ship it somewhere else. Cancel the online order. I even asked them directly: if I'd had the product in my cart or hands, would they have grabbed it from me? Because based on their logic, the answer is yes. Absolutely disgraceful. If the staff here had even a shred of awareness or customer service training, they would've recognized I was clearly preparing to buy it and at the very least asked before yanking it away. The way this store treats its in-person customers is shameful. They don't value your time, your presence, or your business. read more

Nightmare experience and it continues. Called the store to ask some questions about a TV to order and learned that Best Buy's call center which is located outside of the US handles the calls. Couldn't talk to anyone in the brick and mortar store. Knew what I wanted so went ahead and ordered. Delivery arranged. A young man showed up to install the TV and he discovered the LG 65" was defective and had to be replaced. He left everything there in the master: boxes, wires on my master bed, cables on the master dresser, packages on the recliner, etc. (have photos). He said he would put in the order to replace and it should be delivered that night (October. 10th or on Saturday the 11th). He never left a card or any identification. later found out he was not a Geek Squad member but an independent outside contractor. Needless to say no one called and I kept calling and Best Buy kept giving me to different ones and no one returned phone calls even though they said they would. Of course several of these phone call center individuals gave me case numbers which of course turned out to be useless. On Sunday the 12th I drove to Best Buy and talked with the experience manager who said his store couldn't help because I hadn't physically come in and purchased the tv there. Internet purchases are handled online and there is nothing his team and help. Finally I researched and emailed the customer service department and Allison never responded from corporate. Next step emailed the CEO of BEST BUY and figured maybe she could understand that leaving the master bedroom of an 80 year old female with boxes and wires and cables all over for a week is a hazard and immediate attention was appropriate. Stupid dumb comment in my opinion. Geek Squad appeared on Friday. 2 competent employees and they were able to bring a working TV and collect all the cables and wires and put everything together properly. Subsequently James at corporate is offering $150 certificate for the inconvenience. I rejected that and asked for $300 which they rejected. Been on the hunt for a new TV for a few months now.. Harris literally answered every question from OLED, QLED c3/c3 neo 4k, size and other qualities that had me stumped at Costco, Walmart, and online shopping! We chose the 77" LG OLED C3 version tv because the quality, the blacks and vibrant colors that the display provides... in fact we actually bought the last one and had to pick it up from Tustin. I was so excited because this was a patient and educated decision that cost over $2400. Harris provided the best customer service and his knowledge is ridiculous! I picked up my tv today and plugged it in to be so bummed that I got a defective tv!! There are lines in the pixels in the display so I need to call Best Buy tomorrow and exhaust my options.. They are charging to my credit card without my authorization for package I did not order or authoriz. They are controlling my laptop. I am not able to control my laptop.They set up my laptop for access to sexually explicit pop-ups on my laptop even though I have blocked which started on 06/21/2025. They charged $100 to my credit card without my authorization. They want me to buy program which I do not need. They charged last year too. They locked my computer for " Reoccuring billing on" which I am not able to change. I will file complain to BBB for unauthorized charges and harassment. Even though this Best Buy is an authorized Apple repair store it has NO ability to repair anything in store but has to send it out to an Apple Store itself. I wanted a new battery for my iPhone and they didn't even have that. The lady I front of me had the same issue. Terrible customer service. I was once a loyal customer but no longer. I went to purchase a fan. The advertised price was 56 marked down from 76. The item was clearly marked with a price tag and description. I went to pay and it rang up 76, the original price. I explained it was incorrect and not the advertised price. I requested the sales associate to review the price tag. He seemed annoyed but went with me. When we got there he said the price tag was for a different item. That's interesting because the item description matched perfectly. I asked him where the price tag was for the fan I wanted to purchase. He said there wasn't one. I was very disappointed after being lied to. Anyway, I left the store and bought a nicer fan for less money elsewhere. So long Best Buy. I think Best Buys days are numbered and now I know why. I am still waiting for Best Buy to honor the $576.25 Trade-In-Promotion they offered during the black friday/cyber monday. The Best Buy website specifically said as long as my Samsung S20+ turns on regardless of cracked screen they will give me $575.25 for it. I have been to the Irvine Center Drive store 5 times in the past weeks to resolve this issue and they keep saying "It is Out of My Hands". Update: 1/19/23 Needed a network adapter for my show. Typical BB experience... Went to the store because I don't like giving them my card online. Super annoying dude was not there. Complete lack of customer service. No one is in departments to help you. You check in electronically and wait in a queue. Limited employees in the store to help (4 total, I think, including 2 cashiers). Nope, they didn't have them, or anything close. It said online they had 3. They're going the wrong direction. I've only had positive experiences with this location so far and it's nice to be able to go to the store to physically check things out. Seems like a great staff on the weekdays that I tend to go. Organized store with everything in its place BUT the selection is lacking. Stock is very low or nonexistent on several items. There are not many employees on the floor to assist you, and the ones that are, walk right by you without bothering to ask if you need help. I will say, though, that 2 employees greeted me when I walked through the door and asked if I needed assistance, but at that point I thought I didn't. I probably could have gone back up front to ask one of them, but don't feel I should have had to. Best Buy is not exactly a small store... The checkout line was long but didn't move too slow, plus it's the holidays so that's to be expected. Prices are average but you can probably find the same or similar items cheaper at other places. The place was a disaster..tvs all over the ground games all over the floor and every time we tried to get someone's attention they would literally run from us. We finally went to the check out line and asked the rudely greeting guy about the entertainment center and he said nah we don't carry furniture here. We said how do we get it? He said you'll have to go to another store? Then why the heck do I have the option to pick up at your store within an hour? So are you the liar or the website. According to the Best Buy website, transferring music from an IPhone to a usb (flash drive) is something they can help with. I show up when they open, Geek Squad guy says not sure. He does a little research and finds yes we can but he's all alone and I need to make an appointment, they'll download my music library and I'd come back in a few days and it would be done. I show up for my appointment that evening and back to square one, Geek squad girl has no idea why I'm there! Asks some geek squad dude in the back room and comes back with it's not allowed!! Bullshit! Now I don't have our personal favorite music playing at my wife's "Celebration of Life" Best Buy Lake Forrest Blows!
