(This review is a 2 for 1. The Geek Squad AND the store) The GOOD, Bad, and Ugly: GOOD - Mira! She works in the Geek Squad area. I know nothing about setting up computers. I am a wiz-kid using them. I purchased a new computer but needed everything installed and set up. Yes, I know, everything is intuitive and should be very easy, but this girlie, is missing "intuitive" brain cells. **shrugging my shoulders with a tilt of my head**. I made an appointment and brought my computer in for set-up and software installation. (yes I had an appointment). Mira walked me through the process, asked relevant questions she needed and answered all my knucklehead questions. When there were people who just popped in trying to get her attention to ask a "simple question", without blinking an eye, she nicely asked them to make an appointment if they hadn't already done so or to take a seat and she would "try" to help them after me. I made a comment to her because she didn't seem annoyed or flustered with the endless drop-ins. She said it was "part of the job." I told her she definitely went to the head of the class when it came to customer service. I also warned her that I would be writing a Yelp review and mention her name. (corporate can you give her a raise? After all, she is a starving college student. I'm sure you remember those days, right???). If Mira is any indication of the Geek Squad's standard customer-service-comes-first attitude, they have me for life and I will be singing their praise to everyone and anyone who will listen. I'm sure the other Geek Squad reps are equally patient and professional and have a sense of humor just like Mira. I would like to note, several of my friends depend on the Geek Squad when they have computer or printer or other such problems and they are always praising the Geek Squad and now I see why. GOOD part 2 - The sales person who sold me my laptop, the various software, printer and monitor. He was a great representative of the staff working at the Best Buy in Ir one. I brought. Friend with me because walking into a store like Best Buy, I am a deer-in-headlights girlie. My friend purchased so many different things from Best Buy and always talked about the service and patience they had with her. People think I ask a lot of questions, well my friend asks a zillion questions that I wouldn't even have thought to ask. Hence the reason why I brought her with me, I really wish I knew the sales persons name. If I find it on the receipt or his employee number I will be sure to update this. Like I previously mentioned, his patience, and customer service was the same we experienced with Mira with the exception, this gentleman, explained differences from one laptop vs another or features, a monitor had vs another monitor. He never one tried to up sell me something. He asked me very important questions that directed us to the laptop that would meet MY specific needs. He never rushed us to make a sale. What a wonderful experience! It's almost like out of the "Apple Store" or "Chick-filla" playbook. BAD/UGLY - this is only a slight bad or ugly comment. The only thing I want to say is if you get a sales person who doesn't seem to want to help, please either immediately leave, ask for assistance from someone else, or ask to speak to a manager. Several months ago, before my purchase, I went there to purchase a modem. I had no idea which one to buy. When I first walked in I was told they would send someone over to help me. After 20 minutes a clerk came by said hello and said he would be with me in a few minutes. He then walked straight past me to other people who came in after me. I get it if staff gets paid on commission. But he didn't have to be so rude or dismissive. I have the patience of a Saint and would have simply bought time reading all the different modern specs but his attitude and behavior turned me off. Suffice to say, I wouldn't put up with it now especially since receiving the OUTSTANDING service from Mira and that other sales clerk #2. (I still gave them 5 stars although my gut says, 4.75.) read more

THIS IS WHY WE HATE YOU BEST BUY!!!! Update... and I'm getting Deja Vu looking at my previous reviews. I shop here only when I HAVE to. My work computer mouse stopped working - needed a replacement that I knew my company would reimburse me for. It said online they had 3 of a model I wanted. Can't call them 'cause they don't care enough about their customers to have a phone anymore. Do you think they had them? Nope!! I stood around while they looked for 15 minutes. This has happened to me here so many times. Asked the manager if he could give me the model up at the same price. I'm sure they'd still make a profit and that's what I would do as a retail manager. BIG struggle later, he said he'd only give me 6 bucks off. Why make the customer actually happy with good will? ...go to the front, he will tell them. Do you think he told them? No. Once the guy at the front finally radioed back to him, he was stumped how much to take off... 6 bucks! We'd both told him. Now I stood there as this guy couldn't do the 6 dollars off math in his head and got out his phone calculator to figure out how much to charge me. Are you kidding me? He was so patient and knowledgeable, helping me find the perfect size and color for my new Oura 5, and when I got confused with the gift card I had, he explained everything and I was able to be out with a new ring quickly. I find this Best Buy to be singularly accommodating from the salesmen (& almost all are men, & some boys). The kid (Omar) I dealt with was extremely helpful in defining my most cost effective choice & I ended up with a TLC OM7, 55" which is all I need. It won't be set up until a week from now but that was my fault for having my phone turned off. With the new Windows 11 updates, I need a new computer as my current laptop doesn't support the update. Came here to look at a few that I saw online last week. Angel spent time to explain different computers and their features and options in details. I decided to wait for a few days and see if the one I wanted would go on sale. And it did, starting Monday. $450 off! However, this location had none in stock when I called to check. Best Buy online stated South Coast location has one left in stock or order online to get it by 10/8. Decided to come back and give Angel the sale as he already spent the time and helped us out. The transaction was quick and easy since I already knew what I wanted. Purchased and paid here to pick up at South Coast! Angel was very diligent and provided us with great service. Nothing like conversing with the Best Buy Chatbot. Let me know that I missed my appointment, when actually I didn't. Scheduled my appointment by phone, went there only to find out that the geek squad doesn't attend to iPhone speaker repairs. They let me know that the other locations still have the needed materials, but not at this store location anymore. I also found out that my Best Buy total membership, apparently has auto renew, with a not low fee in my opinion. I didn't even know I had this and paid for it. Thankfully, the geek squad showed me how to navigate through the Best Buy page because that's the only way to cancel it! The employees were very nice at the geek squad, and at the front end. But when you go toward the back of the store with the higher priced larger ticket items, In my opinion, those are the older sales people who have been working there for quite a while, and are not as courteous. - if you ask them where the restrooms are at, they look at your hands to make sure you don't have any items and then let you know where the restroom are to prevent vandalism. read more

When I wanted the warranty repair, She told me it would be an $83 shipping fee since they did not do this type of repair at BB. I came in a few months ago to finally get a Kindle after years of debating it. The employees were very helpful and walked me through the pros and cons of all the Kindle models that they currently had in stock. In the end, I decided to get the Kindle Colorsoft Signature, and it just might be the best purchase I make this year. I was able to get a year's warranty on this model that allows me to replace it free of charge if I have any issues. While I will always prefer physical books to ebooks, I love how convenient it is to travel with a Kindle. I'm also able to borrow ebooks from many California libraries without having to leave home. I head straight to Best Buy in Irvine evrery time, going on 23 years now. So what makes me sit down to write a review today? Greg Bernal. He's the Verizon specialist. This guy is impressively well versed on the best & worst phones & cell service. He's helped us negotiate the phone & cell service quagmire a few times over the years. He's also a computer expert as well, and has helped us there too. What i appreciated about this visit was, thanks to Greg's advice, i did NOT have to buy a new phone yet. He told me what to do & say to Verizon, which worked beautifully and Verizon lowered my bill and fixed the problem over the phone. But a new phone is on the horizon for us, and i can assure you, I'll be right back to Best Buy in Irvine, MY STORE, to buy the next one! Last comment: About the manager of this store, Ricky. Dont know him. I dont know where he gets these exceptional employees, or what he does for them, but our personal experience of every sales team rep or Geek Squad member is its always memorable and leaves us very happy with the experience. We have found them to be knowledgeable, and generous with helping us find what WE need or want, not a store's sales agenda. Never transactional. Thats exceptional. It is truly a shame that such a large retail chain is completely unable to assist in resolving this issue or offer any alternative solutions especially since the TV was not cheap. Not only that, if anything happens to my purchase I used to be able to call Best Buy's 800 number and they'll send out a Geek Squad to fix it for FREE! It was the best deal ever. WAS...cuz it no longer is, and I am sad. I mean angry sad. I've turned so many people to Best Buy because of this, and 9% out of 10 have purchased the TOTAL TECH membership as a result of sharing my experience with them Now we're all pissed. Why? Because Best Buy now charges $129.00 for having someone come in to install your purchase. Sorry Best Buy, you lost a customer here. Paid for a Samsung oven microwave combo. Waited almost a month for it to areive to the store. They gave me 5 days to pick up. On the 5th day, I tried to call for an extension. Last week I purchased a 65" TV and mounting equipment with wires hidden. They will deliver and install. Today I went in to get mounting equipment for my other tv. The salesperson was one of the worst I have experienced. He was poorly informed and made it obvious that he didn't want to work with me twice when he turned his back on me and walked away. I walked around to the area where he was now chatting with someone else and said I still needed help. He tried to get the salesperson who had helped me before, but he was not there. When I suggested I might buy another larger TV if it was on sale, he did not promote any sales. Suggested I should call a private company to install the TV I have. In summation, he did not listen and did not seem to want to help me. I felt his behavior was disrespectful and certainly not in the best interest of Best Buy. I will not return to the Irvine store any time soon. As a customer, I need respect and an informed sales person. read more

I came here to buy a new router and had one pulled from the shelf, literally standing a foot and a half away while reading the box. As I was in the middle of checking specs against a document on my phone, an employee walks right between me and the product I was clearly examining, asks if I need help, and before I can even finish responding she scans the box and takes it away--because it had apparently been sold online. This was the only one left in the store. When I pointed out that I was actively looking at the box (after having just held it in my hands minutes earlier), she was dismissive, rude, and didn't bother with even the most basic courtesy of an apology. She just walked off with the item. The other staff I spoke to weren't any better--they shrugged it off, saying that since I hadn't "purchased it yet," the online order took priority. Which is absurd--if someone is physically in the store, already holding or examining the last unit, you don't rip it away to ship it somewhere else. Cancel the online order. I even asked them directly: if I'd had the product in my cart or hands, would they have grabbed it from me? Because based on their logic, the answer is yes. Absolutely disgraceful. If the staff here had even a shred of awareness or customer service training, they would've recognized I was clearly preparing to buy it and at the very least asked before yanking it away. The way this store treats its in-person customers is shameful. They don't value your time, your presence, or your business. read more

We live in Orange and we were told that the Irvine Lake Forest Best Buy was the best store for dash cams and installations. We drove down there, purchased the dash cam, picked it up in Tustin, and made the appointment for the following weekend. We drove down a second time to discover we were not sold the correct dash cam. We returned the product and the tech told us we could buy an outside cam and still have it installed. It just took me 25!!! minutes to make another appointment. It is AI for the beginning (no phone service into the store), no ability to make an appointment on-line. Finally, received a real representative. So, we will be making the 40 minute one way trip a third time!!! read more

Nightmare experience and it continues. Called the store to ask some questions about a TV to order and learned that Best Buy's call center which is located outside of the US handles the calls. Couldn't talk to anyone in the brick and mortar store. Knew what I wanted so went ahead and ordered. Delivery arranged. A young man showed up to install the TV and he discovered the LG 65" was defective and had to be replaced. He left everything there in the master: boxes, wires on my master bed, cables on the master dresser, packages on the recliner, etc. (have photos). He said he would put in the order to replace and it should be delivered that night (October. 10th or on Saturday the 11th). He never left a card or any identification. later found out he was not a Geek Squad member but an independent outside contractor. Needless to say no one called and I kept calling and Best Buy kept giving me to different ones and no one returned phone calls even though they said they would. Of course several of these phone call center individuals gave me case numbers which of course turned out to be useless. On Sunday the 12th I drove to Best Buy and talked with the experience manager who said his store couldn't help because I hadn't physically come in and purchased the tv there. Internet purchases are handled online and there is nothing his team and help. Finally I researched and emailed the customer service department and Allison never responded from corporate. Next step emailed the CEO of BEST BUY and figured maybe she could understand that leaving the master bedroom of an 80 year old female with boxes and wires and cables all over for a week is a hazard and immediate attention was appropriate. I told him the comment one of his associates said when I asked what would happen if I tripped over one of these boxes in the middle of the night and his comment was "send Best Buy the bill." Stupid dumb comment in my opinion. Geek Squad appeared on Friday. 2 competent employees and they were able to bring a working TV and collect all the cables and wires and put everything together properly. Subsequently James at corporate is offering $150 certificate for the inconvenience. I rejected that and asked for $300 which they rejected. Has anyone else dealt with Best Buy and their business practices. read more

Been on the hunt for a new TV for a few months now.. Harris literally answered every question from OLED, QLED c3/c3 neo 4k, size and other qualities that had me stumped at Costco, Walmart, and online shopping! We chose the 77" LG OLED C3 version tv because the quality, the blacks and vibrant colors that the display provides... in fact we actually bought the last one and had to pick it up from Tustin. I was so excited because this was a patient and educated decision that cost over $2400. Harris provided the best customer service and his knowledge is ridiculous! I picked up my tv today and plugged it in to be so bummed that I got a defective tv!! There are lines in the pixels in the display so I need to call Best Buy tomorrow and exhaust my options.. They are charging to my credit card without my authorization for package I did not order or authoriz. They are controlling my laptop. I am not able to control my laptop.They set up my laptop for access to sexually explicit pop-ups on my laptop even though I have blocked which started on 06/21/2025. They charged $100 to my credit card without my authorization. They want me to buy program which I do not need. They charged last year too. They locked my computer for " Reoccuring billing on" which I am not able to change. I will file complain to BBB for unauthorized charges and harassment. I am contacting my attorney and filing charges against them if they do not returned $100 immediately. If this is not taken care, I will have my attorney involved. read more

I am still waiting for Best Buy to honor the $576.25 Trade-In-Promotion they offered during the black friday/cyber monday. The Best Buy website specifically said as long as my Samsung S20+ turns on regardless of cracked screen they will give me $575.25 for it. I have been to the Irvine Center Drive store 5 times in the past weeks to resolve this issue and they keep saying "It is Out of My Hands". I called the online support 3 times and they are completely clueless. Very frustrating experience with Best Buy so far. The best buy address is 16171 Lake Forest Dr Irvine, CA 92618.
