I am completely happy with the IT service from the Gigaisland team. We are a small company with only 4 employees, so finding IT support in our budget was a challenge. I interviewed 4 companies and initially chose a different company over Gigaisland because (1) At that time, Laine did not have any employees. (2) The other company offered "unlimited" tech support for a monthly fee. A year or two later, the service from the other company went drastically downhill to the point where we were no longer able to function. I called Laine to see if he had hired employees. I was pleased that he now had a team in place! We switched over to Gigaisland early this year. I was thrilled with the transition for the following reasons: (1) The move was completely seamless - at least from the Gigaisland side. Getting the required information from the former IT company was a different story. We did not have ANY downtime. (2) Gigaisland was able to almost immediately fix an ongoing problem that the other IT company had NOT fixed for 9 months in spite of my following up every 2 weeks. (3) Although Gigaisland does NOT offer "unlimited" phone support, they are more than fair with their pricing and it has not been a problem at all. The other company said they would offer unlimited support but then wanted to charge a lot for projects or anything "extra." (4) Laine and his entire team have been SUPER responsive, solving our problems almost immediately. (5) My biggest concern was what would happen if a computer went down. In the past, this has caused MONTHS of downtime. Now this has happened & Laine & team are resolving it in only a couple of business days - NOT months. (6) They do not treat us like a small company - they treat us like we are their most important customer. If you are a local company who is considering switching from a local IT company that used to be great but now is not providing you the same service as before (I think you know what I mean) then consider interviewing Gigaisland. I have known Laine Kohama for many years and utilized Gigaisland many times over those years. He and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, compassionate and helpful. Personally, I sometimes feel embarrassed or worried to call for any tech support, because I think my question might be too simple or I will be stuck for hours in front of my computer. That has never been the case with Gigaisland. Whether I am being helped by Laine or any of his techs, everyone is so friendly and warm and many times they can fix my issue quickly, or manage the workflow by remotely connecting to my computer. I have been using Gigaisland's services for about 7-8 years now. It just so happened I met the owner Laine at an event the day after Comp USA forgot to back up my hard drive prior to a service I had ordered. It was devastating and all they said was "sorry, bad luck" and refunded my $14.95. I felt led to tell Laine about it even though I didn't know him at the time and he completely sympathized and offered to help me retrieve my data. I felt that he cared. Since that day he has excellently serviced all my computer needs and I recommend his company to all my friends and clients. He is warm-hearted and knowledgeable, and can explain things to me in a way I understand and I feel he is always looking out for my best interest. Wow! Laine and Bobbie helped me tremendously! They rescued the data on my failing computer before it was completely gone. They provided a terrific external hard drive at a great price to store all that quickly fleeing data. Not only that, but their customer service is top notch! After they had done the work for me and been paid, they continued to follow up to make sure everything was OK, and that I could access my data. They recommended a "next computer" to buy that was on sale at Costco. They even let me know about an amazing deal on buying new software to restore what I had lost. When I mentioned another software I'd lost, they researched it and found a deal on it too. Computer crashes can cost big bucks and a huge headache but they kept it from being overwhelming.
