During our stay at the Pinemark Motel, we stumbled upon Gibby's--a laid-back, no-frills diner / bar that boasts an impressive variety of burgers, pizzas and daily specials. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, inviting patrons to come as they are. The drink selection includes a modest array of beers, four choices of inexpensive wines, and a handful of cocktails. I opted for a margarita, which turned out to be surprisingly good. Gibby's features both a smoking section and a patio, and although the non-smoking area carries a faint hint of smoke, it remains tolerable. The service staff may not exude enthusiasm, (they don't appear to enjoy their job or the customers who are strangers to them) but the quality of the food compensates for this. With limited dining options in the vicinity--especially on Sundays and Mondays--Gibby's is a reliable choice. I was particularly impressed with the onion rings and boneless buffalo bites, which were simply delicious. The house salad also stood out with its freshness and flavor. The burger was sizable and cooked to perfection, and the Greek gyro was equally satisfying. Despite the busy scene on a Saturday evening around 5:30, there was no wait time, and seating was available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Gibby's may not win any awards for ambiance or service, but its solid menu and unpretentious vibe make it a worthwhile stop for anyone passing through Saint Claire, Missouri. read more

Reviewing the Eureka location. I have to say this first: Gibby's pizza is divine. Absolutely delicious. It's the best pizza I've ever eaten. Crust is fabulous, sauce is wonderful, cheese is cheesy, toppings are fresh and tasty. For $10, you get a huge amount of pizza. Seriously. If you like St. Louis style pizza, you MUST try it. The Good: cheap soft drinks ($1), large menu, clean tables, nice/relaxing atmosphere, the pizza, the fries, the wings (they make their own sauce), the appetizers (fried cauliflower!). The Not so good: for the price, the food (besides the pizza!) isn't THAT great (but that's expected, as the menu is so big), and Gibby's can be a bit understaffed at times. Bottom line: If you're looking for somewhere new for American food, I recommend Gibby's. It's an undiscovered gem for pizza, in my book. read more

This place is pricey when you end up not getting what you order and what you pay for. Our last several orders keep getting messed up and they refuse to make it right. Ordered several dinners, missing the grilled chicken in the Alfredo and missing lettuce, tomato, and pickle for the burger. Burger is so burnt that it's literally black and crunchy. Have to drive back to pick up missing parts of dinners and then the rest is cold because they refuse to remake the pasta because they are too busy. Ridiculous that you pay $14 to eat cold fettuccine with warm chicken. Terrible food and service for paying over $50. Will not return. read more

While I waited, they offered me a glass of water which was a nice touch. The smell when I opened my food in the truck was AMAZING. I went straight for the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Sandwich--grilled chicken, cheese, that sweet & tangy chipotle raspberry sauce, all on one of the freshest buns I've had in a long time. Juicy, flavorful, and came with fries that were seasoned just right. Honestly, I wish I had a side of that raspberry chipotle sauce just for the fries because the ones that caught extra sauce were SO good. The other two subs had to wait until I got home that night, but even a few hours later they held up. The Cod Sub was thick, flaky, and perfectly topped. The Buffalo Chicken Sub had good flavor without being overwhelming (and I'm kind of a spice wimp, so if I can handle it, it's definitely on the milder side). And can we talk about the bread? SO good. I don't know if they bake it in-house or get it from somewhere special, but it's not your standard cheap sandwich bread. It really makes the difference. Overall, I'm super impressed. Great food, great service, and clearly a local favorite. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town--probably after my next camping trip.
