Sigh. It started out fine--they came on time, spent a few hours, and left the lawn looking nice. We were clear that we were installing a perimeter fence and needed the sprinklers moved to accommodate it. However, it all went wrong the next day when the fence installer hit a pipe while digging for a post. I'm not sure why they thought they could just move the sprinkler heads without accounting for the pipe location. They did come back the next day to fix the problem, but it was clear they didn't want to be there; they left our lawn and sprinklers in a mess. The sprinklers were left above ground and weren't even straight. We had to dig them up ourselves to try and fix them, but we couldn't get them flush with the ground because they had left the pipe set way too high. They also left multiple heads pointed in the wrong direction. It was a total headache, and it's still frustrating to this day whenever I see those sprinkler heads poking out of the ground. read more

We had a leaking valve in our sprinkler system that was spewing water 24/7. In a panic, we called GGG Landscape to hopefully get someone to come as soon as possible. Eduardo promptly called us and we explained the situation; he scheduled to come see us the next day but also offered to FaceTime me to better understand the issue in that moment. He was able to show me how to shut off the water line going to the sprinkler system; effectively stopping the leaking without needing to turn off the water to my entire house. The following day he came by, replaced both sprinkler valves as they were old for a very reasonable price, and was done in less than an hour. We had two 20-year-old rose bushes and a garden arch that need to be removed. I made it clear in the project details that I need them to remove the rose roots as well as the stumps so that they don't grow back. But they refused to do the work to remove the roots because it will take too long. So they charged me $250 and spent only 45 minutes on the job. I had to fight them tooth and nail to get them to remove the base of the garden arch. I will never use them again. read more

We recently used Juan Hernandez and his team for outdoor construction and landscaping. The work focused on adding lots of concrete flooring (in the backyard, side yard, and driveway area), extend fencing in the side yard, and add a retaining wall around our front lawn. This was a significant amount of work. We talked to 5 different contractors and after reviewing Yelp ratings/reviews, pictures, and discussing pricing, we decided to go with Juan's team. In short, they did an excellent job and did not disappoint. Juan listens, responds quickly, and got the team to start working right away (the week after we agreed to do the work with him). This was great given other contractors seemed to have a 3-4 week lead time before they could start work. Juan has a great sense of what will be functional and look good. One example was when he suggested to add a section of gravel in between our concrete floor and the retaining wall in the backyard.. Initially, we didn't want that but after thinking it over, we agreed this makes a lot of sense since you need that section to prevent water/dirt from collecting when it rains or when washing the floors.. The concrete work that his team did was excellent. We couldn't have asked for better. It was smooth, looked uniform, and professional. We love that it adds some extra usable sq footage for outdoor use! The retaining wall they built in the front yard looks great also, I really like the lights illuminating the outer edge and sidewalk! The side yard fencing adds privacy and usable sq footage as well. As you can see by the pictures, things turned out great. Update 09/2023. We really had to do something about our front yard - both lawns were pretty much dead weeds, irrigation was broken, and sections of our fence were down on the ground. So we got in touch with New View again. Got a reply right away and Juan came out the very next day to take a look. He helped us with the design, had samples of artificial grass and rock for us to choose from, and saved us a lot of money by suggesting we fix our fence instead of replacing it. Plus he was more than willing to take care of a few other things - add irrigation to our patio and clear out dead plants, repair sprinklers in the back yard, etc. His quote was more than fair. His crew started as agreed a few days later and they were every bit as professional and kind as before. They worked around our schedules, put up with us needing extra time to put our dogs away every time they had to go in the garage or the back yard, finished a day early and left everything spotless. I went with multiple quotes about my backyard work, and I didn't get confidence in their work, though the presentation was good in quotes. I called the New View Landscaping team to check the backyard project. Juan quickly arranged the initial inspection, shared good high-level ideas, and helped with the design. I found that Juan has some passion for his work, and his explanations about do and don'ts. I liked his natural and honest view of the project and quote. The next day, he came with all the necessary samples ( turf, rocks, etc ) and showed them. His quote was a considerably fair price compared to others. His team started the project on time. Initially, one person was working on removing old dirt from the backyard. Once that was done, the next day onwards, 5 to 6 people were working and entirely focused on their specialized work. I would say that they are really specialists and regularly check with me about the requirements matching their deliverables. They were punctual at work and had only lunch breaks in the middle. Once lunch was done, they quickly came back to their jobs and didn't waste time. In 4 to 5 days, my backyard grade changed to excellent compared to earlier. They did amazing jobs, and I even talked to them about my front yard future project based on their excellence in my backyard job. After the job was done, his team cleaned well and made it appear like nothing changed. My neighbor shared good feedback about his team and the cleaning done after the job. His team had the most necessary tools, and they managed the execution very well, sequenced and organized. For example, I needed a raised bed area to be filled with organic sand; once the location was ready, his team member called the nursery, and within 15 minutes, the material came to my home to fill the raised bed. One side of my home's backyard was not included in the project; however, Juan and the team checked with me and did extra jobs like grading, adding weed blockers and gravel. Just wanted to write this update to my review of Juan's work from last year which I wrote exactly a year ago. After Juan did such a fantastic beautifully done landscaping job of my back (and front yard), I reluctantly ended up hiring a different gardener to do the maintenance work because (at that time) unfortunately Juan could not do the monthly maintenance due to not having his crew setup in our area yet. The gardener whom I ended up hiring to do the maintenance proved to be nothing but an amature who had no clue what he was doing. Basically, I gave him the fantastic beautifully done landscaping that Juan and his team had done, and over the course of 6-8 months he and his 2 cousins (who worked for him) ruined it due to them not knowing anything about maintaining large scaled landscapes. One word of advice to everyone: DO NOT - repeat DO NOT - hire gardeners who claim they are professionals unless you read their reviews on Yelp and to provide you references. In this day and age everyone thinks they can just start a landscaping business without dedication, experience or expertise for that matter. After letting this armature gardener go, I called, Juan and told him about the situation as how some of the plants he had planted were dying due to potential issues with the irrigation system, etc, and then asked him if he was now set up in our area to do the weekly maintenance work.. Juan in an absolute professional manner simply said he always takes care of his clients and customers, and then said because he takes pride in his work he would make sure all issues are resolved without any charge to me. He and his crew came and without asking for any money, replaced the dead (or half dead) plants (which totaled 15 plants) and also had his crew to do the cleanup, and to do a thorough inspection of the entire irrigation and dripping water system, and fixed any issues they discovered - all without any charge to me. Thankfully he is now in charge of our weekly gardening maintenance work, and I could not be happier. So once again as I wrote last year, and to stress: if you are looking for a professional who knows what he is doing, and is expert in landscaping and want him to do your landscaping and also gardening maintenance work, look no where else and just call Juan. Trust me, you save a lot of money in the long run and will be very happy with the work (that is guaranteed). I really can not speak enough of how Juan so professionally takes care of his customers, and above all, his absolute mastery of the landscaping business. read more

Juan Hernandez Landscaping recently completed a project for us. This job involved landscape work for both the main house and an ADU. Because of all the great reviews I called Juan and hired him to do a simple job in my yard while I was out of town the second week of April. I have a yard with no grass and asked him for a quote to remove dead leaves, the weeds that had grown in the yard and some fallen citrus fruit. He quoted me $300 to take care of all three things and I said yes. I got back into town and saw that the leaves and the fruit were gone but they did not remove the weeds and only used a Weedwhacker to cut them down smaller. I got in touch with Juan to ask him when they were going to come back and finish, plus they didn't even blow off the patio and had gotten the cut weeds all over the place. He said they would be back in two weeks. I sent him photos and told him what needed to be done when they came back. We had a discussion about spraying the weeds to kill them and I said that that was fine but that I needed to know when they were coming because I have a cat and dog and would keep them inside because I didn't want them to be exposed to any dangerous chemicals. In the meantime I received a bill for over $700 and when I asked about it he apologized and said his daughter made a mistake with the bill and to just pay what he quoted me once they finished the job. On the day they were supposed to come they never did and I texted him and he apologized over and over and asked for a second chance. He promised that they would be there the next day. The next day much of the day had gone by so I texted and asked him when they would be there and he said in about 20 minutes. When they came, all they started doing was using the Weedwhacker again! I was working from home and on work calls so I went out and asked them to stop and to remove the weeds by either pulling them or spraying them as I had discussed with Juan. They stopped working and sprayed something around the yard very hurriedly. It has been five days since they did that and the weeds look exactly the same, showing no signs of being treated. I took more photos and sent them to Juan and expressed my disappointment that it was taking so long to get a simple job done after asking for a second chance and five days later he still hasn't responded. I believe that everybody has a bad day and I extended understanding and compassion and was happy to pay for work to be done in my yard but being nonresponsive and not getting a simple task done, I thought I better just write a review at this point. read more

They apparently forgot about my booking, and then were uncommunicative until I persisted with messaging through text and Yelp.
