    ZERO STARS! RUN FAST AND RUN FAR!!! First time I booked was awful. I arrived to a damaged car with the bumper literally falling off. It was littered with dirt, cobwebs on the dash, DRUG paraphernalia, fast food crushed in to the cup holders, reeked of smoke and weed and the list goes on. Getaround did NOTHING to remedy this. I gave them a second chance as I'm a firm believer in them. Fool me twice shame on me. Second time I arrived to a car covered in scratches and dents and the trunk flew open on the highway nearly causing an accident. The "host" did not give a s**t and neither did Getaround. I of course had to return it right away. It took over two hours of my own persistence to get in to another vehicle. This one was even filthier than the last and again covered in dents and damage and again smelled like smoke. I was already running so late I dealt with it. Upon returning my card is hit with bogus charges including one for not refueling which I did in entirety and have pictures to prove it. Attached are screen shots of actual conversations between myself and the host. One admitting she did not clean the car even though we're in a pandemic, and the second showing absolutely no accountability or concern that his car nearly killed me. To summarize, this is the most unprofessional, unreliable and UNSAFE car company you could ever dream up. They will not follow through on communication, the hosts AND Getaround will LIE TO YOU, you will NOT receive the vehicle in the condition shown on their app/website, you WILL GET BOGUS CHARGES. Do not risk your wallet or your safety with this company.

    I still like this program but I've run afoul the app/company. First is a screenshot taken Nov 26.There is a absence of rentals in a circular pattern right over my home address. However I went to "My Trips" and I was able to "Rent Again" a car I've rented before. That is how I booked my November 27th rental. I drove and completed that reservation without a problem. Screenshots from today (Nov 28) demonstrate the absence of nearby rentals. The closest rental is 0.9 miles away. A similar search for Monday, Dec 2 has the closest rental 1.0 miles away. The other screenshots show that there are THREE cars 0.3-0.5 miles away that are AVAILABLE for rental for the times I searched (when I manually retrieve cars I've rented previously). This is not a case of cars being unavailable because of the holiday. This is systematic search manipulation. They must be trying to boost rentals of low utilization cars OR they are testing to see how far customers are willing to walk to a rental. I hate it. Don't do this Getaround!! I loved this program and I've been using it almost weekly since March but I don't like being manipulated. I can't keep using this app if booking a trip is going to be a fight between me and your search algorithm.

    Avoid getaround unless no other options. Their standards for cars is so low, I've been in some disgusting cars but had to keep the trip because they never give a refund, just promo codes so you stay stuck in a cycle of using their services. I was in a rental that literally started smoking on the expressway and I had to fight for almost 3 months just to get $19 of my almost $50 trip. Their customer service department is incredibly incompetent at keeping up with issues and tickets. Cars are pretty much maintained by renters informing getaround of cleanliness issues, maintenance issues, parking issues. Simply poor standards, much better off using zipcar. Their cars are always clean and if you have even a small issue, their customer service quickly addresses it and gives you more than a $10 promo code. Maybe they're better in other cities, but in Chicago it's the lowest level of car rental services. You'll see photos of the car I rented, their compensation? A $10 promo code .... they ended up giving me $15 back on my trip because I wouldn't accept the promo code and told them I won't be using their services anymore but that was the first time I was offered any compensation and the last 3 cars I've rented had maintenance issues

    #1 requirement for an app to be successful? It NEEDS TO WORK. Your customer journey makes no sense. Per your process, every driver needs to have their driver's license verified. HOWEVER, this process can take up to 48 hours AND you won't start it until a reservation is made. How does the make any sense? Why do I need to be charged for the rental and deposit for you to even verify my license? Did anyone in your company think this through clearly? Throw the process up on the whiteboard and a light bulb will hopefully click. --UPDATE the $20 "driving" credit is misleading because you are charged an upfront fee of $10. It's really $10 in driving credit.

    After no communication, they sent me this email today, along with a $456.72 charge to my card on file.

    Getaround is amazing! You can use your phone to unlock the vehicle, and you can rent the vehicle by the hour!

He took us down to the weird basement parking garage because we had reserved car seats and let us pick the appropriate ones for their ages. Side note, I had tried to call in advance to confirm this but kept getting the national line and they had no real info. For parents reading this, they keep a heap of them and you can specify when you get there, provided you had a general car seat reserved. We got the rear-facing for our 3 year old, and a booster with a back for our 7 year old. Our car (Nissan Altima) was kind of a piece of junk. I'm glad I took video because before we even set foot in it, there were some burns, some fender benders all around, and generally just not in the best shape. Kinda overthinking itself on technology too, with the cruise control and other features not being super intuitive, and CarPlay not working for us throughout our time with it. Anywho, got out of these just fine and dropped it up in Grand Rapids Airport and it got us where we needed to go. Nice to have options in downtown Chicago and this worked out well. Last thing, I booked on Costco Travel which seemed to consistently provide the best overall price and packaging for rental cars in my experience.

My situation involved needing a rental car delivered to me at an auto repair shop inconvenient to public transportation & cabs etc. Hertz sent a guy out to pick me up with the car the insurance company was paying for me to have while the repair was going on. Nice clean car. Even had a snow brush in the back seat, and there was a toll road transponder if I needed one. Pleasant pickup guy. We had to go to the Wacker location for me to sign paperwork, which went quickly & smoothly. I returned the car directly to the location with no problems except that there was a computer glitch so I didn't get a printed receipt. But Delores emailed one to me.

Sara helped me into the car and was incredibly professional, helpful, friendly and informative. I also met Mo, when I picked the car up and he was very friendly as well. I had a fantastic trip and no issues with the car. Sara recommended the prepaid gas option and it was so convenient and helpful. I am familiar with the option but did not realize how much of a game changer it would be coming back into Chicago tired on Monday night and just wanting to return the car!
