    Giving a one have been far less than satisfactory due to lack of customer service and making Your customers jump Through hoops to receive simple assistance. The first issue was mild- charged for fuel even though I fueled the car. Submitted a ticket with no response ever. Second trip I discovered that the car smelled like marijuana and cigarettes (noted in my intake inspection) and also was full of trash. I disposed of the trash but I took photos and reported. Halfway through my trip I noticed a foul odor and discovered a bag of rotting trash in the trunk. I disputed this as well because frankly I was humiliated since it was discovered while visiting my mother. Last was the final straw. The night before Christmas even my trip was canceled by voicemail at 9pm with no effort to rebook me. Reason stated was that the car was impounded. I was thrown in a panic and also was very confused when I went on the app to see what my rebooking options were, to find the same car available but for DOUBLE the rate. I booked the next car I could afford only to get a text from the original car owner asking why I canceled! To be honest I felt confused as to why this person was texting me in the first place, but also then received a call from Getaround offering to help at 11pm. There was nothing they could do and the final solution was minimal returns of my money and no compensation for the incredible inconvenience this caused. Ivan was very helpful and listened to me freak out but I'm spreading the news to others- BEWARE. It's worth the extra money to go to zip car or traditional rental just for the peace of mind alone.

    App is very easy to use and reservations are quick to make. The worst experience I have had with this company is their claims department. They are terrible. I returned the rental in the first week of January and yet a final invoice is not available so my account has been placed on hold because I am under investigation. The vehicle was parked overnight when someone hit it. The damages are very small and yet it's taking this long to resolve. It's a headache just trying to reach a representative. Ticket#4773369

    Rideshare drivers - be aware that these cars are not ready for "ride with Uber" and there is no regard for earnings, driving time, or safety. Maintenance is NOT included or performed. Blown headlights/taillights, flat tire, brake warning lights etc. One vehicle had no rear brakes, bare pads were scraping loudly against the rotors with visible scoring. Support will provide two options - have the repair done at your cost and wait "2-5 business days" to be reimbursed, or return the car as it's taken offline and hope another one is available since no swap is arranged. (If you live in this area, you know how difficult it is to get vehicle service on short notice.) Next comes the vehicle condition. Rarely clean, personal belongings and fast food left behind, and half-filled gas tanks. You must spend the time, money, and lost earnings to clean the vehicle from the previous driver's mess or face additional fees, not to mention the impact on your ratings and tips if left dirty. Sure, getaround isn't responsible for a messy driver, but penalizing the next one into being a cleaning maid isn't a solution. Vehicles must be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid fees, but you'll hardly see a full tank at pickup time. You'll need to cover that difference and wait "2 to 5 business days" for reimbursement. (Most rental companies simply have vehicles returned with the same gas level the car had at pickup time. Seems to work.) Finally, the app can be slow and temperamental. See a common theme? If you're hoping to be on the road earning, prepare to 'getscrewed' and repeatedly taken off the road during periods of high demand, losing time and earnings. Not to worry, you'll get a promo code for a few dollars off the next rental.

That had never happened before; nevertheless, my partner was forced to wait in the sitting area for 20 minutes while I made my way down to the location (we had planned on saving time with her picking up the car while I ran errands). When I arrived at the rental car agency, another customer service individual told us the same thing. I asked if this was a new policy -- that the corporate card necessitates the employee paying for and driving the car -- and the customer service rep was very squirrely, refusing to answer the question and say either yes (it was a new policy) or no (the policy had just previously gone un-enforced). Finally, when they proceeded through the reservation, it became apparent that the particular corporate code that my partner had applied DID NOT require me to pay for and drive the car. So she had waited 20 minutes for no reason whatsoever, with little in the way of apology from any of the people working there. We were finally led to a car, which was freshly cleaned although with only 1 bar of gas. One of the three reps we dealt with was really kind and quick, tried to get us into a car and on the road, but I was unimpressed with the service we received from the other two people there. The car itself was nice, pretty clean, handled well, and the location of the rental car agency is convenient but...just a word of caution, in case you're renting with a corporate code!

    Extremely Disappointing Experience - Reservation Meant Nothing. We reserved and prepaid for a…read morerental car at the Hertz Boston Park Plaza / Back Bay location, expecting a simple pickup. When we arrived, we were told there were no cars available. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of help from the staff and the store manager. When we asked to speak with the manager, he simply blamed Hertz corporate for allowing overbooking and said this has been happening since summer 2025. Instead of helping us resolve the situation, he told us we had to call Hertz ourselves to either change the reservation to the airport location or cancel for a refund. While we were on the phone with Hertz customer service, the manager who is in the attached photo, explicitly told the agent he was refusing to honor our reservation because he wanted to hold the remaining cars for the next day's reservations. This was shocking. To make matters worse, while we were still waiting there trying to fix the problem, another couple walked in with a reservation from a different location that had closed early (3 PM), and they were given a car immediately. So apparently: Our prepaid reservation meant nothing. The manager refused to release available vehicles. Cars were selectively given to other customers. This felt like unfair and selective service and an abuse of authority. In the end, we left with no car, wasted over two hours, and would have had to travel to the airport location and pay additional Uber costs just to get a vehicle. A reservation should mean something. If Hertz cannot honor prepaid bookings, customers should be told before arriving. This experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would avoid this location entirely.

    I would give this location zero stars if I could. I paid for a Manager's Special - specifically NOT…read morethe EV one, and received an Tesla. Was told I'd have to wait until whenever the next car was returned (up to an hour). It was NOT fully charged when I received it, and added almost 2 hours to a 3 hour drive to have to charge it (each way, so added about 4 hours). I was told I could drop off within 10% of battery that I received it at, I did, the receipt states it. and was still charged $8. It's almost impossible to return at the exact battery %. The steering wheel was ripped and car not fully clean on the inside. Nobody offered to show me how to drive a Tesla. I have done after-hours drop off at this location in the past two months, was told I could do it again, and pulled up at night and the gate was closed and I could not get in. I had to pay $50 to park the car overnight and add returning it to my schedule the next morning. The woman the next day was the meanest customer service representative and had no sympathy and would not do anything about it. Never renting from this location again.

I asked her to do the booking, but she said it does not work like that, and I should just come in the morning and pick up my car. I asked her three times, before booking my hotel and other things in Maine. And than I approach and her colleague, who says that he is "not going to contact anyone, you just can't do that with a debit card". Do not trust this company and their employees. So glad I did--it was a smooth experience from start to finish! I arrived right when they opened at 8am on a time crunch to make it to a 9:30am job interview- I was a little nervous about timing since I'd heard stories of other customers needing to head to the airport, but nope the location was right at Government Center! Dianne was a breeze to work with--she explained everything clearly, from paying for a toll pass (I brought my own E-Zpass, phew!) to making sure I filled up the gas tank and brought back the receipt, or else I'd face an extra charge. Bill in the garage was friendly and efficient when I picked up and dropped off the car/keys. When I returned the car, Dianne asked how my job interview went and was genuinely sweet and supportive. It's those little things that make a difference! All in all, my Budget/Avis rental for 4-5 hours was seamless, hassle-free, and dare I say pleasant hahaha! Would absolutely rent from them again.
