I went to Gerber collision in Lakewood to get a damage estimate for my Tesla. They do not do work on Teslas but they are allowed to give damage estimates. This should've been my first red flag. They quoted me $2000 total for the damages from our Tesla. I went to another collision shop who actually do work on Tesla's and their damage estimate was 6500. This is more realistic as everybody knows Teslas can be expensive to repair. If you have a Tesla, I highly do not recommend going to this place. Also, the estimate took almost 3 days to acquire, whereas the other place I went to created an estimate for me and took pictures in under an hour. read more

I called Gerber collision & glass yesterday to get a quote to get my windshield replaced for my 2010 Volkswagen Jetta and said they were able to fit me in the next day to replace my windshield. Then the guy who showed up to do my windshield today was so nice and gave me an even better deal than I was originally quoted which made Gerber the best price out of all 7 other glass shops I called in the area. The guy did an excellent job, its quality glass, and the work looks very professional. Gerber made it so easy with the guy coming out to my house to install it, i didn't have to go anywhere and all In all I had a great experience. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of glass replacement. Everything went so smoothly and I'm very happy with the work. The company that Gerber must work with is called Glass America cuz that's what the truck said. & The guy who installed the glass was named Eric. I was skeptical to even call Gerber at first because they have such a nice building on carpenter road, I figured the glass replacement would cost too much money but I was very pleasantly surprised. read more

This is an addendum to my original review of Gerber Collision and Glass. So, after my disappointing conversation with Gerber's phone representative, where I learned I was going to be charged more than an insurance company for repairs, I shopped around. I learned a lot about why this happens, and in my opinion, it's not good. Found a small, independent company called Spanway Autos, Collision in Tacoma. Spoke with the owner, detailed my frustrations. Spanway is amazing and VERY competitively priced for "self-pay" clients. Two brothers run the body shop and their primary motivation isn't about making money, but, rather, doing excellence by the client in everything done. I was blown away by their pricing, their personal integrity, their attention to detail, and their care. Their work on my car was impeccable. So, think hard about being told you have to pay more for "self-pay." Sometimes, good things happen from poor experiences. Thanks! read more

Had some work done here after getting my truck back I had an issue took it back to Ferber and they went way beyond what they needed to do to make sure the issue was not there fault which did end up not being there fault ended up being a bad battery Mike still took the time to fix my truck well beyond what he needed to do he was awesome customer for life. read more

Low prices and great customer service. You may have to wait a bit longer than usual but they will text you updates every few days if your vehicle is being repaired and let you know what's going on step by step, until it's done. Highly recommend. read more

Brought my car in there 4-5 days before thanksgiving for repairs from vandalism. They fixed it up and make it look better than it was before the damages were done. I was rear ended last July. Nothing serious but my car was old and definitely took on more damage than I expected. The insurance company told me just to go get a quote anywhere of my choice. I always work on weekends but this place is in fact open on Saturdays for those of you normal M-F people. I thought getting a quote would be a huge inconvenience for me due to my strange work hours but these guys mad it so easy. I drove in, they came out with a camera and a clip board. After a few minuites he said " I'll email you with a quote so you can get on with you day but it could take a couple hours." I drove home and 10 mins later my detailed quote arrived. I emailed it to my insurance and bam! It was all settled! From begaining to end the whole experience took an hour tops and they were packed with customers at that time! So far this has been an excellent experience. I believe, most of us, are plenty stressed when visiting a collision shop. It does mean we have had an unfavorable occurrence. I left here feeling like I was in good hands and my mom and I could relax. Wally & Jen are top notch and a bit of bull dogs themselves, (they do everything they can to find a favorable solution). I'm changing my review because Gerber admitted they made and error. Mike (the Gerber estimator and work coordinator for my vehicle) agreed to correct all of the issues and also approved full payment for a rental vehicle (for 9 days). Not only did Gerber correct all of the issues, they also took action on a system alert for a tire with low pressure. Mike sent the vehicle to a tire repair shop, and it was discovered that a screw was in the tire causing the leak. After the vehicle was returned to Gerber, Mike took the time to completely inspect the vehicle for quality assurance. Gerber paid an additional 3 days on my rental vehicle just to ensure that no problems existed. My vehicle looked like new when I picked it up(completely detailed and cleaned). Mike reviewed all of the work on the list (in detail) when I arrived to pick it up. He also stated that if I was to notice any problems I should contact him and they would address the concern. (to be fair Mike also assured me during the first repair event that I could return the vehicle for any and all problems with the work (but I was a little upset when I did find errors and overreacted). I'm okay that they made an error as things happen and the reason I'm okay with the error is that Mike at Lacey Gerber stood behind the work and gladly had the repair shop correct (and perfect all of the listed concerns (as well as making sure my rental was fully covered). Stay far away from this place! Reception was RUDE! I wanted a repair estimate on my truck. The estimator was also VERY RUDE and played stupid with me. I wanted the roof and hood painted because of paint fade. He estimated $6,000! He said the windshield would have to be removed and the box removed to repair a scratch. He said someone had spray painted the roof. So? That's what I wanted repaired. He went inside to work up an estimate and NEVER returned to me with an estimate. I left. My cash money is not as good as an insurance payment. WTF!? Stay away from this place people unless you like to be insulted. read more

I selected Gerber because their timeline fit my needs better. They did an awesome job although it took longer than expected to match the paint. Apparently there are 5 variations of our blue according to Honda. I would recommend Gerber without any hesitation. read more

When my son's car window was smashed at 3am I immediately booked an appointment through Gerber. I was given an appointment time of between 8am and 12pm for the following day. I had requested the night before that someone contact me in the morning to give me a better idea of when they might come. At 11:45 I called the 1-800 number, and asked why 1) nobody called and 2) when would they be coming? I was put on hold and told the tech didn't answer, but that a message had been left. The operator (who was very pleasant) was unable to tell me WHY nobody called in the morning....I don't think she honestly knew. I waited another 20 minutes or so and decided to call the local (Gerber Collision and Glass) number. Although friendly, they said they didn't handle the glass repair directly, that it was dispatch out of Chicago. About 10 minutes later, I got a call from the tech who said his given the appointment time of 1pm-3pm. He apologized profusely, and didn't understand how this could have happened. My experience has been one of utter confusion. It seemed that "one hand didn't know what the other one was doing". There are far too many moving parts, and nobody seems to know what's going on, not even the tech. According to someone at the local glass shop, this isn't the first time this had happened. Although everyone was very "nice" to me, that doesn't solve the problem. I was told I had a booked appointment for 8am - 12pm, and that I would be given a call in the morning from the tech in order to give me a closer time frame. That just didn't happen. Again, nobody seemed to really understand how this happened or how to fix the problem. As far as the glass repair it self, it was excellent. The price is very good as well, and I can not fault any one person in particular. Everyone was very professional and friendly. Unfortunately, this company needs an overhaul of how they communicate to their customers, and especially between themselves. Until then, I would avoid using them. read more

I needed a new part installed on my SUV, something I wanted to do since I purchased it in 2013. I was able to find the part, brand new. I called Gerber Body and Glass and spoke to Dave. He explained all the job would entail and quoted a fair price. He also told me to stop by and maybe they could install it while I waited. This morning I went to Gerbers and met with Dave, he took the SUV into the shop and it took them around 10 minutes to take the old part off and install the new one. And the price was well below what was initially quoted! Gerbers has my future business for sure! They are great people and their customer service is Excellent! I highly recommend them! read more

So I recently had body work done at this Gerber and have mixed feelings. I got side swiped around Christmas and needed work done. So I got an estimate done here and it was very competitive with the estimates I have received from other body shops in the area. I decided to go with Gerber because I felt a more professional vibe from them as I did with the other body shops. I called them on January 4th to schedule an appointment for my vehicle. I was told the earliest spot they had open was Jan. 23rd. No big deal, I assumed shops would be busy after the busy holidays. Put my car in on Jan 23rd, received a call on the 27th saying that my car is finished but it would be $300 more for a missing harness on my side light. Now I know an estimate is an estimate. But something like this, I feel like should have been told to me sooner before they have started the work like on the 24th maybe. They could have removed the bumper and fender and assessed then and there if more parts were needed so I could still have a choice. After commenting on that, I was told sarcastically "I'm sorry we don't have X-Ray vision." Which I'm shocked he didn't have X-Ray vision, I thought everyone did? Also was told on the phone that the estimate "was expected" to be more. I have gotten body work done several times before and this is the first time I was asked to pay more after the work was finished. 3 Stars because they did do a good job on the car. read more

I thank Gerber for being professional and getting me back on the road as quickly as possible without compromising the integrity of my vehicle. Gerber repaired my car within a week. I told them to take their time so that my car looked as if nothing had happened to it. They did an amazing job. Kept me updated through text and calls the entire week they had my vehicle. I didn't know that my deductible had been waived, so I paid it. When I found out I did not have to pay it Gerber refunded me with no problem at all! read more

When I brought my truck to Gerber I was just looking for an estimate. But they needed my insurance info and claim info. I thought whatever here it is.. well I believed my truck was totaled so whatever.. they decided it wasn't totalled and sent the estimate in to my insurance without asking me!!! And we all know the insurance wasn't going to pay more than what Gerber sent, and other shops just laughed at the estimate because it was so low and wouldn't even give their own... that made me mad right out of the gate.... and I got the exact work that was paid for... terrible.. I took it back 5 damn times with a list each time. And they really never got around to doing anymore than fixing minor stuff or horribly obvious stuff (that should NOT HAVE EVER been passed to a customer), and blowing off the other concerns making excuses and over all pushing me out the door.. I have a plan of action and the gears are turning. This is one case where the customer is not gonna go away. I have another couple years of payments to make on this hunk of garbage truck so I will not forget about it. read more

After reading the recommendations posted here I decided to stop by for an estimate, I had just hit a deer with our brand new car, they were very friendly and asked me to fill out a form, I explained that I was on lunch and didn't have a lot of time left, an employee came out and took a look at my car and took some pictures he then asked me to come on back inside and he would get the estimate together, I asked him if I could just stop by after work and pick it up, he said that wouldn't be a problem. He called me at work and said he couldn't get an assignment (whatever that means) and needed me to file a claim with my insurance, I wasn't sure what that had to do with an estimate, but I informed him again as I had when I stopped in that I had a claim with my insurance And gave him the number. I stopped in that evening to pick up the estimate and the original person came out with another person, the original guy introduced the second guy and started speaking a in terms that were apparently very important to him and explained that he couldn't do the estimate because he couldn't get an "assignment" and needed a "file" from my insurance company, still not sure what that has to do with a simple estimate of repairs, but was told that they would email it to me the next day, at the end of the next day I called as I had not heard a thing, I was told that they still didn't have an assignment. I then informed that I would take my business elsewhere and he said "fine" and hung up. I'm not sure what the scam is here but I believe "free estimate" means if we can ensure that we will do the work. I was prepared to have them fix my car and also some damage that UPS did to my daughters car, but I got a very dishonest feeling about them. read more

The work they did was great. The only problem was , it took 22 days to get my car back instead of the 6 they told me. They kept getting the wrong parts for my car. Once they were finally done with all the body work and paint, the headlights didn't work. That took another week to figure out, getting the wrong parts again. It was blamed on their vendors sending them the wrong parts. I think I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

My car was rear ended and needed repair. Gerber was the preferred body shop of the Insurance company of the woman that hit my car so I called them to make appointment. It was refreshing that they took care of all the details and got my car in within a week! The other body shops I have used in town take 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. I was picked up by Enterprise(albeit I could have walked because its just across the street) but its very convenient to have a auto rental nearby. My car looks amazing and they buffed some scratches unrelated to the accident. I would definitely use this company again! read more

The website claims that I can get a quote and set up a windshield replacement on site, which I did. Days go by with no call and nobody showing up. I finally call to see what is going on and am told that this is not a windshield repair replace location - they just do collision. Would have been really nice to have that communicated somewhere as I was setting up the appointment or directly after. Poor communication. read more

Terrible workmanship and even worse customer service. I am appalled by the experiences I've had at Gerber Lacey-WA. I needed to have my driver's side mirror replaced, the initial work took less than an hour. I got home and realized the mirror wasn't on straight and the attachment to the door wasn't flush. The inside of my car was a mess, there was white dust everywhere. Obviously no quality assurance was done, both for the work and the inside of the car. When I brought my car in the next day, no one apologized or even seemed the slightest bit embarrassed for the situation. When I asked for money back I was told they were fixing it so why would I get a discount? I pushed further and the manager, David Swift, came out and tersely spouted from behind the counter, "I'll give you $61 off." When I asked how that was calculated he rudely replied, "it's for the labor and that's it." as he walked away, unwilling to hear my reply. I pulled out my receipt from the day before and noted that the labor was actually $78, plus tax. The woman at the front desk took this information back to David and I guess he agreed because I got the full labor costs back. I felt like Gerber Lacey-WA had no pride in their work and no consideration for their customers' satisfaction. I am a small business owner and charge by the hour, the time I had to spend getting this resolved amounted to a net loss much more than the labor costs I was refunded. I wish I could say this is a one time experience, my family has brought vehicles in 4 times now and 3 of the 4 Gerber Lacey-WA hasn't got it right on the first try. Ranging from poor paint matching to releasing a vehicle unsafe to drive. I wanted to give them another shot, but clearly this was a mistake. If the manager, had been understanding, apologetic, or kind at the very least some of my frustration could have been avoided. read more
