Gerber Collision & Glass at this location has done a phenomenal job repairing my vehicle. It is a lengthy review, but one worth reading. First, my car was heavily damaged by a HEAVY thunderstorm that struck most of the Chicago area back in June 2026. A tree fell on it, damaging the hood, roof and pillar. The extreme high winds sent flying debris that nicked and scratched all sorts of areas of the car's body. I filed my claim with my auto insurance. Their estimate on repairs seemed unreasonable due to the damage. The photos I submitted to my insurance company did not capture the depths of the damage. For the wonders AI (Artificial Intelligence) does, it does a poor job in assessing damage and REAL cost of parts and labor. Get an Estimator. Always. Don't trust AI for the cost auto repairs. At this shop, I was able to send my claim number and estimate from my auto insurance via email. Renee welcomed me, and walked me through the process. I'm very thankful for her patience, warmness and execution in terms of paperwork and helping me by contacting Enterprise to schedule a ride to the premises and obtain a rental vehicle. Throughout the week, Renee called me to let me know they were waiting for my insurance company to approve Gerber's estimate. The auto insurance company took a week or so to approve the new estimate from Gerber Collision Repair. It seemed like the insurance companies were backed up with claims during that time due to the sudden surge of vehicles damaged due to the extreme weather-related damage. If you're from Chicagoland you would easily recall this thunderstorm in June. I've to commend Luis (Estimator) for doing a VERY thorough job in calculating the real cost of repairs to my vehicle. The estimate was more reasonable than what my insurance company originally offered. He had an eye for the extent of the damage caused by Mother Nature. Once my auto insurance company approved Gerber's estimate, they got to work. Please always get an actual Estimator (a real life person) to look through your vehicle's damage as their knowledge and experience is more valuable than AI. Thank you Luis for having my vehicle's (and mine) best interest. It did take some time for my vehicle to get repaired. My insurance company could only cover a certain amount of days for the rental vehicle. I appreciated Gerber Collision Repair in covering the cost of the few extra days of the rental vehicle while my car was being finalized. This gesture meant so much to me. They took care of me. The hazardous smoke from the wildfires from Canada that came through may have delayed repairs. I don't know how safe it was to work in a repair shop during the poor/hazardous air quality. I know ventilation is a priority in a repair shop. I hope the safety of the staff at Gerber was prioritized. These were factors beyond Gerber's control. Again, be flexible. When I went to pick up my vehicle, Nick greeted me. He was very warm and made eye contact. He answered my questions about a deductible, walked me through the paperwork, made a couple of phone calls to get answers to my questions. Nick made sure to get Enterprise the rental vehicle back. A very personable and knowledgeable gentleman. He shook my hand at the end. This gesture and service etiquette I thought had been lost. Great job Nick! When I stepped outside to inspect my vehicle, Fredy the Technician who worked on the body and repairs of my vehicle walked me around to inspect it. My vehicle looked beautiful! It had not looked like that in years! The technician appeared to be very proud of his work- and so was I. The paint job was outstanding too! He gave me advice in maintaining my car's paint so it would continue to look pristine. Always listen to the experts! Huge shout out to Fredy! Overall, I highly recommend this shop. I'm very pleased with the staff in how personable they are. Great work Gerber Collision & Repair in Des Plaines Illinois! Love the staff here! -Alonso S. read more

Fantastic service, kept me updated throughout the whole repair, car in perfect shape now and was returned cleaned. So pleased with this Gerber- highly recommend and would use again. Professional and courteous. Thank you! read more

Trust worthy, highest quality, friendly repairs. I've brought various vehicles to this place a few times now. Each time I've been kept up to date with expectations and progress. Each time the work was completed to perfection, and I'm the guy that is OCD about the littlest stuff and I have found nothing to be short of perfect on each of my repairs. I actually started coming here on the suggestion of my brother after I had a terrible time at the Schaumburg location on Remington. I continue to come here because I trust that my car will be repaired correctly the first time, even though it's like a 30-45 minute drive. All the staff I have talked to have been very friendly and honest. I appreciate all this very much. read more

This was not my first go around with a body shop (sadly), but my first experience with Gerber. My concern was whether or not they were another company that advertised a lot but couldn't deliver. I am happy to report not only did they deliver, but they exceeded the service I have received at any other body shop in my 42 years of driving. Not only was their work flawless from what we could see, but they were quick AND they worked with us in repairing a car the insurance company would have totaled were the decision theirs. In a time where used car value is at a premium, Gerber helped us return our car to service again. Thank you Brad and all your people for making this a painless process and keeping the repair affordable. read more

I highly recommend Gerber without reservation! I know nothing about car repairs and the Des Plaines Gerber team could not have been more helpful; they could not have been more competent or kind! Not only did they complete the repairs quickly, they went above and beyond by buffing the exterior and cleaning the outside and interior of my car as well. I'll never take my car anywhere else. read more

I brought my 2017 Lexus to these folks on a referral and was NOT disappointed! I had several key scratches and a shopping cart ding (thank you person from the Home Depot part lot!) and Cory and Brad's team repaired it masterfully. Let me also add here that I haven't seen SERVICE like this in quite a long while...from ANY company, anywhere. They either texted, emailed or called me every step of the way. Telling me where the vehicle was in the process. I received my vehicle back one day ahead of schedule even though they told me it might take another day. I highly recommend GCG DP for your repair. read more

Must admit, the Des Plaines location led by the white glove service extended by Corey H. (estimator) and front desk (Amanda) made me a believer. Purchased a new vehicle and had damage due to weather. Was skeptical at first but did due diligence. Pros: Leverage technology to provide status or repairs; Accommodating of requests; Prompt and reliable; Quality work; Porter service read more

Corey was amazing. They had originally quoted me two days to get my car done -- after starting the job, they found additional damage and told me it may be more time. I was fine with it, but Corey continued to call me throughout the process, and update me on my car's status. They ended up having it done anyways in two days. I also love that they clean the crap out of the car, inside and out when you pick it up. read more

This is place is wonderful! After having my car broken into, I was feeling violated and very upset. I probably called a million times and asked silly questions, but everyone here was incredibly patient with me. The work they did looks great - and the best part? When I picked my car up, it was clean, inside and out! And there were mints in my cupholder! I will come here for every repair I need in the future. Awesome staff, service, and experience! read more

I had a great experience with this location of Gerber specifically. I brought my car here on two separate occasions to get repaired and they did an excellent job. They put the time into not only the repair but assist you with the whole process. They were exceptionally helpful in provided me information regarding the rental car and assisting me with the transportation to the rental car facility. One specific staff member went above and beyond making sure my customer service needs were met, but I cannot recall his name. Assuming there will be a response to this review, I will promptly edit to include his name! My Grand Cherokee looks good as new and I will continue to use this shop and refer friends. read more

Our passenger door would not open and our regular mechanic doesn't do body work. We went to Gerber in Des Plaines for an estimate to get it unstuck. Matt treated us so good! They took the car in the shop and in 10 minutes had it fixed like new. Seems a car or grocery cart or something had bumped it and caused a bend in the door and it got stuck. No charge! Unheard of in this day and age. Highly recommend them. read more

After having my car totaled out by another neglectful driver, my experience at Gerber was wonderfully refreshing! Corey did a wonderful job of being patient and answer each one of my numerous (and probably ridiculous) questions and gave awesome advice. His advice and patience are extremely appreciated! Great job and if I need anything car related, Gerber will be the first place I call! read more

I have no complaints whatsoever. Gerber in Des Plaines has worked on our cars 3 times in recent history, and each time we were pleased. The shop is clean, the are well organized, fast, kept me updated on the status of my vehicle, finished ahead of schedule, and they do good work- what more can you ask for really? I don't like getting into car accidents, but getting really good service after the fact lessons the aggravation significantly! read more

This place did a great job hands down. I am very very picky when it comes to my car and this place did such an excellent job I am giving them 5 stars!! Cory was a very good at listening to what I needed and went above and beyond my expectations. Usually car repair places are notorious for being shady and low quality work, but these guys are exactly the opposite. Even the outside of the building is well kept which makes me feel better about my car staying there. read more

I was involved in a fender bender on a Tuesday and this shop is a business that works with my insurance. Brought my car to them Wednesday without calling or setting an appointment. I was greeted by Libby at the front and she told me Brad would be right with me. He took the time looked over my vehicle, and then gave me an estimate. Seeing how efficient they were from the beginning made me feel comfortable so I made an appointment to bring my vehicle in the next morning. I arrived after 9am and left my vehicle with them thinking it would be a day or two with a rental. (Which Libby helped me get to the car rental office without it costing me any extra from my pocket). She called the car rental office and they picked me up. Mid afternoon I received a call from Brad asking if I was able to pick my vehicle up, informing me it would be ready by 6pm. I was so surprised. The work they did was amazing, and in a timely manner too. They were able to repair my vehicle (wash it & clean the inside) in 9 hours. I have never heard of that before. I know who I will be referring any and everyone to for body and glass work on any vehicles. Thank you Libby, Brad and the entire staff at Gerber on Lee St. I also forgot to mention I was able to leave my rental with them, which is life changing when you have a 2 year old who requires a car seat being moved from car to car, and a hungry 12 year old. I cannot say Thank You enough! read more

Customer service here is unmatched. Libbie is so helpful and explains everything so well and Joe was a big help with getting my estimate done so quickly! My car was fixed in less than two day, if ever needed I will definitely be returning! read more

We went to Gerber because it was one that our Insurance Company recommended to us and it was convenient, right around the corner from our house. We just happened to drive by last Saturday afternoon, after they were closed and saw our truck parked facing Lee street with our key in the driver's side door. We got out and went to the door, no one was there, We locked up the truck, took our key and left a nice message on their answering machine. I understand, accidents happen and Thank god we found the truck like that and not someone else. However, the Manager acted like it wasn't a big deal, Eben tried to say, someone was there, but, in the back working on another car. I paid my $1000 deductible and even was told we had to pay additional 26 for a tire, since ours want new, which, I didn't understand. read more

Friendly people, but terrible service. My girlfriend brought her car in after she was victim of a hit and run. They had the car for over two weeks. When they said it was ready, the kid there pulled her car out of the garage - idling heavily and revving on its own, telling her "it needs gas". Well she filled up and promptly stalled half a mile away in the middle of a busy street. Gerber NOW insinuated over the phone that it was the battery (a load of garbage - apparently if you're a female customer you're an idiot to them) and after some back and forth Gerber towed it back to the shop and two days later said it was ready. She got in the car and her check engine light was and is still on. I cleared the light myself and it came back on - it wasn't on before she brought it in, so I have no idea what's going on. But any oddities aside the thing I am most upset about is how a garage would pull a heavily idling and about-to-stall car out of their garage and tell their customer "it's ready". No, it's not ready. It's DANGEROUS. I told her to not even bother going back to confront them about the CEL because they'd give her 100 different runarounds again and then the thing might explode the next time they give it back. Would never come back here. read more

Brought my car in for a estimate and they didn't try to BS me. Told me exactly what needed to be done. My car is pearl white, so it's not an easy paint job, and they matched it exactly. I was in for the estimate and out of there in no time. Picked up my car, looked over my car and out of there again in no time. Hopefully, I'll never have to use their service again, but if I do, I'll definitely be going there. read more
