He recommended calling an electrician asap so of course I started calling electricians immediately. Esed responded to my message very quickly and came over within an hour to do the repair. On a holiday (Friday July 3)! I can't tell you how much I appreciated his efficiency and experience. I'm so glad we were able to get this fixed before the overheating caused a much more expensive repair. PG&E had a neighborhood power shutdown and when I came home, everything was working in my house and detached garage except several outlets in my garage, including the one powering my garage door opener. I checked the circuit breakers and all seemed good. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I called Ideal Electric late on a Friday afternoon, Esed answered and took me step by step through a checklist. Turned out, as I should have know, that the GFI breaker on one of the outlets tripped and that outlet was connected to the others. Esed gave me the info without charging me to visit the house. Stand up dude. I'm not calling another electrician.

Finding someone you feel comfortable trusting with your home can be difficult, especially when it comes to electrical work, so I truly appreciated his professionalism and the care he put into the job. One of the things I appreciated most was Ken's willingness to explain the work and answer my questions. Electrical issues aren't always easy for a homeowner to understand, and it makes a big difference when someone takes the time to walk you through what needs to be done. I felt comfortable asking questions and appreciated having a better understanding of the work being performed. Ken showed great attention to detail throughout the job. He took pride in his work and treated my home with respect. It was reassuring to see that he cared about the quality of the finished work and wanted everything done properly. As a homeowner, that kind of care goes a long way toward making you feel confident in the person you've hired. Beyond the work itself, Ken was courteous, approachable, and easy to communicate with. Having someone working in your home can sometimes be stressful, but he made the experience a positive one. I appreciated the effort he put into the job and the way he handled himself from start to finish. Overall, I am very happy with the electrical work Ken completed and grateful for his help. I would gladly have him back for future electrical projects and recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, professional electrician who takes pride in his work. Thank you, Ken, for taking such good care of my home!

He went through a couple of quick fixes on the phone which could save us some money. I told him we've done that already and we need an electrician to diagnose and fix the problem. He said it'll cost $335 to show up and if he is here over 2hrs, it will be an extra $169/hr. I said okay. Since he is highly rated, I didn't bother calling other electricians for more quotes. I normally get at least 3 then compare. Then he said his appts are 3wks away but has a cancellation for Saturday (today) at 11am. So I said sure and gave him our address and told him to call us when he's here cuz we have to buzz him in the security gate. He said our address is 5mins from his house so no problem. Long story short. He never showed up, no call -nothing! Wasted our time waiting. It is our rental property so I had to drive in before the appt, waited an hour after the appt then left. He may not have wanted to take the job cuz I got the sense that he wasn't enthused and quoted us his price for showing up. Or... he may have forgotten about the appt. Either way, he is the owner and there is no excuse for poor business practice. And for wasting my time I gave him one star since I can't give zero.

Zalman secured the necessary permit from Contra Costa County and followed the project through till the county signed off on a final inspection. The cost of the job came in as estimated, and the crew completed the work with no loose ends within the week they said the project would take. After the wiring was done Berkeley Electric patched our walls and thoroughly cleaned up. Zalman also suggested some upgrades we had not considered earlier. One, for example, was adding an electric car charger to the garage wiring. Another was installing safety lights, which we did. We cannot recommend Berkeley Electric highly enough. I would hire them again without hesitation. The good news, however, is that the job Berkeley Electric did was so satisfactory that we should never have to rewire again. There were no glitches or shortfalls.

I found Zalman to be very knowledgeable, but I asked a lot of detailed questions, including about permitting and wall repairs, and I felt that he was a bit annoyed and impatient with me. I think they would have done a good job, but other quotes were lower and I had a better working rapport with the company we eventually used.

Geoff quickly identified problems at the service connection where the utility power enters the house, repaired the loose connections and grounding issue, and carefully checked the main panel and subpanel. After his repairs, the voltage immediately stabilized around 121-123 volts, even with the microwave running under load. The lights stopped dimming, the stove stopped resetting, and the microwave began operating normally again. Geoff is clearly a highly experienced, old-school electrician who knows his trade inside and out. He was thorough, straightforward, and focused on fixing the actual problem. He also gave me helpful guidance about the permitting and compliance work that should be addressed next. I would absolutely recommend Williams Electric.
