Well it at least seemed at first like they did the job well enough. So far, there have been 2 items I've called for follow-up which I've received inadequate responses. This time, I've asked about the door to the main panel that they provided and installe. They are trying to blame, um the occassional use of the door over 2 years for it no longer closing. Won't even come look at it. I vehemently do not recommend these folks. Once they've got your cash, there is no service for or pride in their work. They're a high-priced discount service. read more

Should've done this a while ago but they are our go-to electricians. They did an amazing job installing our fans on the ceiling, and replacing old electrical outlets. Ed is a cool and knowledgeable man as well. His crew are great at what they do. 5 stars easy. read more

Ed and his team are our go to Electricians for our more critical electrical projects at the zoo. They are top notch providing some of the best electrical work in the area. They aren't the cheapest in town, but still a good value. Good isn't ever cheap. Thanks to the team for their recent work, and looking forward to our next projects! read more

Amazing service! I had a variety of items on my list for an electrician to work on - dimmer switches, new outlets (indoor and outdoor), new ceiling light installation. These tasks involved all sorts of work in the crawl space and attic. I'm so happy Garcia & Son Electric was able to schedule me within a month of my estimate! The crew arrived on time. These guys were super effective working as a team to complete the work in a very quick time. The guys who came to my house were super respectful and very good at explaining things. They covered to prevent debris, cleaned up their areas throughly, making sure to patch and vacuum. I am so happy with the work they did! I am definitely a repeat customer!! read more

Ed and his team are total pros - they came and evaluated the work that needed to be done and promptly gave me a detailed proposal (including price breakdown by project). They were onsite one week later and all the work was completed in one day. On time, clean, professional and very friendly. I highly recommend Ed and his team. read more

I don't think I've ever interacted with a higher quality, higher integrity business, of any kind. To think of the trouble I would have saved myself if I had just started with them. Alas, I did not. I tried to save a buck by going with a poorly reviewed, sloppy nobody from Kensington. Before I knew it, he committed more code violations, and did more sloppy work than I ever would have thought possible. I tried to get someone to take over the job. One guy pronounced it "a nightmare" and walked away. Ed said, "we like a challenge." Not only did they fix every little problem, Ed had the integrity to go ON RECORD and identify the many code and plan violations of his predecessor, which helped me save a little money. Most guys don't want to "get involved," but Ed will call a spade a spade. Get them if you can. Be aware that you will mostly be communicating through a dispatcher, but can get Ed for a conversation or email if needed. Good service does cost, but Ed is WORTH EVERY PENNY. read more

This was my second time using Garcia & Son (1st time was about 2 yrs ago) and my only regret is not posting a review the first time, because both times the work has been amazing! Ryan and Josh showed up just minutes before the given 2-hour window for their arrival and finished within the 4hr total estimate with 20min to spare. Both were very polite, took appropriate dust and covid precautions, and did a bang up cleanup at the end. The job was to install two wall lights with a dimmer switch, but the job was complicated by the fact there was no preexisting wiring and my walls are plaster. Like I said before, everything turned out fantastic and they put the switch exactly where I thought it should go. Not only did they effectively cut into the lath and plaster, they did a great job patching it up! They were humble enough to say they did a rough job patching and that I could get a professional to clean it up, but honestly it's practically ready to paint. Oh, and although there was understandably a holiday delay in initially scheduling the appt, I was pleasantly contacted by Marina yesterday asking if today would be possible! Amazing turnaround, amazing service (on a technical and customer service level)! Garcia & Son will always be my first call for any electrical issue! read more

I had a great experience with Garcia & Son. In an old house , there always seems to be something unexpected. They handled the issue professionally. They followed through until it was completed and I can't ask for anything more. I'll use them again in the future read more

We needed to update our out of code main panel and add electricity to a patio we were having built. Five different electricians told us five different things about the panel, but what Ed Garcia said made sense and we appreciated the way he talked with us about it. Ed spent extra care working with the patio designer and installation team to make sure the conduits were laid where he'd want them. When it came to the work, Ed himself came at the beginning and checked in during the work but the electricians on the job were spectacular. Work started on schedule and finished right on time, even with a little extra that came up. Everyone was vaccinated and everyone - including Marina in the office - was a joy to work with. I'll never hire anyone else again. read more

I really appreciated Ed Garcia's time and making sure he understood the scope of our small but important (to us) job. These guys are very responsive, caring and did good work. We appreciated the swift response and most importantly they solved our problem. Highly recommend. read more

Wanted to let the world know how great these guys are. I was in the middle of a home renovation project when my electrician abandoned the job leaving me holding the bag. Asked around as to whom would be a good contractor to help me finish the job. Turns out that four different people that I know (none of them knew each other) recommend Garcia & Son. I appreciate his attention to detail and the fact that he really spent time getting to know my project. Coming into this half way thru it was decided that they would spend a few days on diagnostics and troubleshooting before starting work. This made sense considering that we had no idea how far along the last electrician had gone with the scope of work. Once Ed had reviewed my project in full he made a plan of attack. Long story short we found many many problems that needed to be addressed. My project was a bit out of the norm...and I get the feeling that Garcia & Son did not need the headache of finishing someone else's blunder... but they took it on. They had smiles on their faces, were super professional and excellent at keeping me in the loop. I was impressed with the cooperation within the team and the skill not to mention the speed at which they completed the work. The project was completed as promised for a bit less than the amount projected. That never happens !!! Garcia & Son made it possible for my wife and myself to move into our new home with our new baby. Was an amazing experience. Often when I flip on a switch I think of Ed Garcia and his amazing crew. Thanks a million guys!!! ...and thanks for the primer on arc-fault breakers :-) read more

Didn't end up using Garcia & Son, but my experience working with the team was great. Team was articulate and professional unlike other Berkeley electricians I've rated. read more

One of the best contractors I've ever worked with and I work with a lot of them...They are well organized, responsive, prices are reasonable and they are friendly too. One of the most important things that makes them stand apart is their excellent communication. Their work is clean and efficient. They are very busy so be prepared to get on their list. Like their names says, they are a family business. That's always important to me. read more

Ed Garcia is a first class electrician. He assessed my rather complicated job accurately and came up with a fair proposal. His crew was amazing to watch. They worked hard and fast, and cleaned up afterwards. The job was perfect and passed inspection without any issues. Other contractors had given me much higher bids and made up problems which Ed assured me did not exist. He saved me thousands of dollars. He is a very fine person, as are his crew members. I give Garcia & Son my highest recommendation. read more

Recently bought my first home and the outdoor lights weren't working. I was given a date (a couple weeks out) and a 30 min window for them to arrive. When the date came, they showed up on time and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem, all the while providing clear communication and excellent work. Learned a lot about my house, too! Would definitely recommend, worth the wait. read more

These guys are great. Ed and crew installed an outdoor outlet and also ran a new underground line to my garage for me a couple of years ago. They were courteous, professional, and got the job done quickly. They went above and beyond, adding efficient lighting in the garage for no added cost. I called them yesterday when I lost power to our shed, and everyone, from the woman who returned my call and sent a crew to the house, to the workers who showed up in between other calls, was courteous and helpful. Excellent communication all around, and the job was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. I recommend Garcia and Son Electric to all of my friends. They'll treat you right. read more

Garcia and Sons just helped us with assessing the state of remaining knob and tube wiring in our 1919 home, and adding a variety of outlets and lighting, and a bathroom fan. We are about to begin kitchen and bathroom remodels and will definitely have them back for the electric tasks. As I noted in a thank you email to the company, their staff were "friendly, flexible, professional, on-time, and very neat." On the knob and tube issue - we spent $650 to confirm that we're in good shape with no changes needed. Another firm offered a bid of $40,000 to just replace it all - sight unseen. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I've had the pleasure of working with Garcia & Son electric on several occasions. The first was at a multi-unit building run by a HOA for which I was president. We needed to have our security and exit lights upgraded. Our previous regular electrician was unresponsive, so we decide to try a new electrician. Garcia & Son were tentative to our inquiry and estimate. They came to complete the work as requested. They were knowledgable about various replacement options and had thoughtful recommendations. As our multi-unit building is a converted warehouse, the electric system is more complicated than a single family home. Garcia & Son was swiftly able to make sense of our system, which is no easy task. On another occasion, I needed a 220 line run for my business and some advice on another electric problem (at a new to us property). They were able to fit us in quickly to their work schedule and gave some advice on interim electric solutions for our problem. In general, Ed (of Garcia & Son) is a straight shooter and very competent electrician and business owner. read more

This is the second time I selected Ed Garcia & Son, this time for adding a circuit and electrical outlets to my very old home. His crew came right on time and efficiently completed excellent work, at a very reasonable cost. They are trustworthy. read more

We used Garcia & Son to install a new subpanel and a car charger on our very old (1914) home so that we could get an electric vehicle. We had an incredibly positive experience, end to end. Ed and his team were helpful in guiding us to making upgrades where we needed it but not doing more work than was required, and they were also flexible, as we changed a key element of the project part-way through, and they were able to accommodate. Three weeks after the work was completed, a few lights started flickering in our house so I called them and they sent someone out right away, who helped us understand that we had two faulty lightbulbs (doh! embarrassing!), which was super nice because they didn't charge us for the visit and it wasn't anything related to their work. Communication was prompt, professional, and responsive, and we felt like the work was priced competitively. We are very happy with the result and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to do electrical work on their home! read more

I am a real estate agent. I just came from an electrical inspection the Ed of Garcia and Sons did on a house my client has in escrow. Ed did a thorough inspection of the entire house, main panel, and under the house. Ed was methodical and very detail oriented. He was able to talk to my client, the buyer, about wiring, breakers, etc in a clear and concise way, and my client left very well informed. Unlike other tradesmen, Ed was able to explain everything he was observing to my client. Most importantly, he was able to explain the things that are important to be concerned about, and those things which ate not so important in a 100 year old house. read more

Garcia and Sons are hands down the best contractors we have ever worked with. You could not ask for a more professional and honest team to work with. Ed just saved me over $4500 which a dishonest contractor was trying to charge me for unneccesary work. We will contine to work with them on all of our upgrades. You would be doing yourself a huge disservice by not at least meeting Ed and giving him the opportunity to bid on your job. read more

Absolutely Awesome ! If I could give 10 stars I would. The folks at Garcia and Son impressed me before they even arrived. Out of 5 electricians I called, they were the *only* ones who said they would come diagnose a problem at my church for free and give us an estimate to fix. Everone else said they would charge at least $200, just to check it out. And it just got better from there. They gave us options and committed to working with us if the option we chose did not solve the problem. Our electricians for life ! read more

These guys are pro's. They came and installed can lights in our dining room ceiling and a motion sensor on our garage, in an afternoon. Each of those projects would have taken me a week to do alone, and that's not including all the clean up and finishing work that Ed and his team did. Just brilliant. They were able to run the new wires up through the back of our closet, saving us a lot of fussy plaster work. Thanks again guys! read more

I've hired these guys twice for decent size installation jobs in two different retail stores, and once for a smaller job at my home, and they have completely exceeded my expectations every single time. Ed Garcia is electrician extraordinaire! He does quality work and he does it fast. He is a total professional and stands by his work. If you need an electrician and are in the East Bay, look absolutely no further than Garcia and Son Electric. As a single mom with a perplexing electrical problem, Ed was amazing sharing his unvarnished assessment of my options, including those that wouldn't result in any work for him. His advice was perfect. We proceeded and then other structural issues changed our options again, and Ed even offered to UN-DO some of the work he had already done (saving me a bundle) to accommodate the changing situation. Ed was reliable, honest, thorough, explained everything. Loved working with him and his crew! read more

We hired Garcia and Sons to troubleshoot a circuit breaker problem in our home. Two guys from their crew fixed that in September 2018, but noted unsafe wiring previously installed and offered to return and correct it. We immediately asked them for a bid on the work. It took until October for Ed to do a walk through and discuss the work with us. We did not receive a written bid until November. Their proposed contract did not describe the work that we had agreed on with Ed. We asked that the bid be corrected, but were told by Marina Garcia that their process was to write a "Change Order" and that our job was in line with many others and Ed would get to it. After waiting another month until December, I tried calling Ed directly, but was told by Marina he was too busy to speak to me. Finally, we were pressured by Marina Garcia to pay a $1000 deposit to get our job on their schedule. We would not pay a deposit on a bid that did not indicate the work we agreed to, including the cost of that work. As a result, Garcia and Sons told us they were withdrawing their bid. They told us we should find a smaller firm that is less busy. We still have a serious safety issue in our home and now have to start over- wasted three months. Anyone that wants a timely, reputable electrician without communications issues and questionable business practices should avoid doing business with Marina Garcia and Garcia and Sons Electric. read more
