The owner is knowledgeable and solid. He shows up when he promises and has good communication & does work for a fair price.

After speaking to five or so electricians, we decided to go with Jose for some help running some wiring at home, and fixing a broken outlet. I'm relatively handy but there are some things that are better left to a professional - namely making holes in my walls/ceiling and messing with high voltage electrical! Jose was prompt, communicative and was able to fit us in for a full day's worth of work with a week's notice. His rates are reasonable and he was very matter of fact about items that should be trivial to do myself. This was refreshing compared to other electricians we spoke to, who were very quote happy! (For example, he mentioned that we could update some halogen recessed lights to LED simply by simply replacing the lightbulbs at $5 a light - other electricians blindly suggested replacing all the lights instead at about $150 a light!) Initially when I asked for his help running a motion sensor to a driveway, which is controlled by our somewhat unusual (but popular in the 80s...) low voltage lighting system, he was one of few electricians who actually took the time to understand the constraints of the system and accurately scope out the work required. I had him help run wiring and install some ceiling and outdoor speakers in our kitchen and deck and the work looks great. He also suggested placement of additional power sockets that will help tidy up wiring when we wall mount a television and install an A/V receiver. Additionally, he was able to fix two broken power sockets with minimal intrusion, which my wife is very happy about! Looking forward to having Jose back again for more electrical projects that are next on my list! read more

Called Jose to get a quote for a dead front cover installed for my electrical panel. He explained to me how they would do it seeing as my panel is too old to find parts for, so that I could do it myself. Also gave me advice for an outlet issue we are having. Really nice and knowledgeable. read more

I can't say enough positive things about José at Megaton Electric. He's my go-to electrician. Over the years, he's done big jobs, like putting in whole panels for an ADU, to small wiring fixes that he didn't even charge for. He responds right away and always arrives when he says he will. He's talented and trustworthy, what more can you ask for? read more

Jose was knowledgeable and squeezed in a smaller job. Appreciated his rationale for bring this old house up to date. Pricing was good. Will definitely use again. read more

Jose and his team were fantastic! Jose is a knowledgeable/trustworthy electrician with a great team that works efficiently. I can't recall the last time I was this passionate about writing a good review for a company. I had a previous electrician make a big mistake on a sizable project and then proceed to go MIA when I needed them most. I called a number of companies - Jose picked up on the first call and visited the job site the next day where he analyzed the project and provided me a quote by the next morning. Jose understood the urgency of my situation and was able to fit my project into his schedule while everyone else said they were not available for 2+ weeks. This was a job on an property that took two days and required working around people living onsite. There were zero complaints and Jose and his team were respectful of the people living onsite and diligent with their work. They worked efficiently and solved my electrical problems. I will absolutely be using Jose and his team for any and all future electrical projects. read more

I have worked with Megaton Electric twice now and they are just the best. Jose is responsive, has the best price and most of all he is just better than others. We needed an outdoor outlet installed and other electricians said we needed an elaborate solution that would be an eyesore. Jose came and set us up perfectly and didn't have to rearrange anything or have us build a new structure. Payment is easy online. I'm thankful that I found them. read more

Jose was recommended by a neighbor as we had similar jobs. When Jose and his son finished the other job, they were great in coming on site to get assessment of my work and get us a quote. Work was done a week later and solved a problem that had been a mystery at my old 1910's home for past half year. I did not hesitate to call Jose when I then had a time sensitive need during another project. Jose swung by on a weekend, addressed the immediate risk/problem for short-term, and then scheduled to come back in two days to fix and solve the problem for long-term. While doing the long-term work, Jose was very collaborative and communicative on how to do the solution in a way that would allow future electrical work to be done easier/cheaper. Would highly recommend if you looking for electrician you can trust. He did not try to upscale and was pragmatic about work. read more

I used Megaton to recently install some electric for a hot tub and they came in the lowest bid per about 7 other places we called. They were efficient in doing the job and got it done in a fast amount of time. The only downside of that work was that they left quite a lot of mess at the job site (bits of spare wiring, piping, sawdust, etc.) that I had to clean up. They also cut a hole in my gate without asking permission first...which I would have given but it would have been nice to be asked. That said, the work itself was great. When it came time to pay, he did it off of memory vs. having any documentation and I'm 90% sure added about $800 more than we agreed upon. But I also only had my memory to go off of. The real reason I'm giving them 3 stars is b/w I asked them to come give a bid on some interior work and they stood me up. Then I called to reschedule a 2nd session to give a bid...and they stood me up again. Zero calls to apologize either time. So unfortunately I'm going to have to look for another electrician :( read more

Jose was excellent. He arrived on time and new how to fix our problem. He was friendly, professional and had years of experience. The price was reasonable too. A big shout out to the nice woman on the phone who scheduled my appt. She was so nice and she knew our job needed Jose. Definitely will use them again. read more

Jose Aaron and Carlos were great. I was thoroughly pleased. Jose was always on time and very accommodating. They did an excellent job. I highly recommend them. They are deserving of 10 stars! If you need electrical work done, certainly give them a call. read more

Jose Trinidad did a great job for us. We had two industrial-style overhead lights we wanted installed in our newly purchased condo and both were tricky--one replaced a pot light in our entryway and the other replaced a strange 'spaceship' light in our kitchen. A previous electrician we'd been referred to had said the job was pretty much impossible and thus would be wildly expensive. But Mr. Trinidad just had me purchase a couple of simple parts. The installation took him about an hour and he even ran down to his truck to find a plate for the dimmer switch. We couldn't be happier. He was so professional and also so nice to take on a small job like this when he has a packed and busy schedule. I highly recommend Megaton Electric. read more

Jose was great. We have a 1906 Berkeley craftsman with complicated old wiring. He understood our problem and was able to explain the options on how to fix it. His recommendation made sense. He was clear in his communication and scheduling. He and his assistant repaired our problem efficiently. In fact, they found that the job was simpler than expected, so they charged us less than expected. I am glad to have found Jose and will use him in the future. read more

We lost power in about 1/3 of the house. The breakers were still on, so it was a mystery. Jose came by our house promptly the next morning. After hours of detective work he found a junction box deep inside the walls. It turned out that the cause of the outage was a splicing problem. I was very impressed by his troubleshooting acumen. In addition to being very competent, Jose is friendly and charged us a reasonable fee for his services. I highly recommend Jose and his company. read more

A contractor that is actually responsive? Shows up early? And does quality work at a fair price?? I could not be happier with these guys

We had called another sponsored and well reviewed electrician who got back to us quickly and gave us a quote for removing two outlets. The quote we got was pretty high and although we followed up, we never were able to get them to commit to a time to come fix the issue. After a few days we called Jose at Megaton. He called us right back and came over within hours. He fixed the issue in less than an hour and charged a fraction of the other quote. Jose will be our "go to" electrician from here on out. read more

I called megaton and talked to Jose right away. He said he could be here by 11:00 am and he was! At 11:17 he was done and I was very happy with his installation of a HGFI? Outlet. Very reasonable cost too. He's my go-to electrician! read more

I set an appointment with Jose, the owner, 2 weeks in advance for him to check out an issue I've been having at my home. The morning of the appointment he didn't show up without any notice. I called him, sent a message through his website, and even sent a message through yelp (I used yelp to set the appointment originally) but he never responded to me. He has great reviews and I'm pretty surprised about my experience, especially because I wanted to give him the benefit of doubt for not showing up and support a local east oakland business. If he does decide to respond to me I'll update my review but I'd beware of setting an appointment too far in advance. I had to take time off work to meet with him, so a heads up about him not being able to make it would have been nice.... read more

Jose has successfully completed a couple of projects in our house -- 1 was easy, 1 was complicated -- and we've been very pleased with the results on both. The level of skill, timeliness in scheduling and completing the work, ability to manage unexpected issues that are common in an older home, and Megaton's overall reliability and customer service make them a great company to work with. read more

This review is on the potential (as I haven't actually used Jose yet) To elaborate: I called Jose and after greeting me, he explained that he wouldn't be available until tomorrow afternoon and if I needed someone sooner he completely understands. Check number one: customer-focused as opposed to job-focused. Jose then asks me to explain the issue and he takes a few moments to explain common electrical issues with older houses and attempted to walk me through self-repair. Check number two: information-oriented. Finally, Jose was really honest about his pricing and told me what I should ask any other electricians I spoke to. Check number three: customer empowering. Given the above traits, when I'm ready for my big job, Jose is going to be the first person I call. Thanks, Jose. read more

Jose is the most amazing and knowledgable electrician you can get. He answers phone calls promptly, plus always responds to text and email. He kept us informed every step of the way. He and his team, just completed a main electrical panel upgrade for our old home in Berkeley. He knows the codes and requirements, and did the job to perfection. His price was competitive and the quality of the work was excellent. Cannot say enough good things about him; he is very professional, calm, patient, and explains everything you ask. Thanks Jose, for helping us to complete this part of the project so we can now move forward and have the solar system installed. I highly recommend Jose and his team for any electrical project- from simple to extremely complicated- A very experienced electrician indeed! read more

I recently had to replace an appliance in my kitchen and one of my GFCI outlets kept resetting. After hours of troubleshooting I called Megatron electric on New Year's Eve. I highly recommend using Megatron electric for any electrical needs. read more

My partner and I gave these guys a call after struggling to find a decent electrician in Concord. Even though they normally don't service the Concord area (at least that was my understanding), Jose still came out to help with lighting and electrical issues in the condo. He responded promptly to our inquiry and was communicative during the whole process. He and his team were super professional, did a wonderful job, were clean, and offered their services at a great price. Jose also came himself to do some of the work, which was pretty remarkable. Shows good work ethic and that he is hands on with his team, which is always excellent. I also really appreciated that Jose walked us through the condo after his team had done all the electrical work and explained all of the changes. He also followed up with a kind email thanking us for our business. Overall I would highly recommend working with Jose and his team!! read more

12-6-17 - Use him all the time now. Very reliable and does an awesome job. 3-28-15 As good as it gets....Jose went out on a Sunday to check a rental and if he hadn't gone right away, there may have been a fire....I can't say enough about Jose...extremely professional, on time, knows what he's doing.... Jose T. is a pleasure to work with. I've hired him for 2 projects over the last 5 years. For each job he has been prompt, professional, polite, and respectful of our home. He doesn't waste time and even takes care to put down coverings to collect debris and protect surrounding furniture, etc. He has shown himself to be very smart, capable, and fast. If he saw a way to do something better and/or save money, he didn't hesistate to let me know. He's very patient, easy to talk to, didn't mind me asking questions and answering them, while he was working, and is very thorough. He seems to really enjoy his trade, and is very talented at it also. For both projects, I've been quite satisified with the results. He is HIGHLY recommended for your electrician needs. read more

Jose Trinidad is about as good as it gets: a total professional, on time, reasonably priced, and does a fantastic job. We cannot recommend him highly enough to other people looking for a great electrician in Oakland. read more

After reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I called Jose at Tri Electric to come out and give us a quote for an equipment install in Oakland. I called and called and left messages on his voicemail. I left detailed messages with my phone number. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he didn't call back, because I am sure he's a busy guy. I called him again a day or two later, same thing - never received a call back. How arrogant and unprofessional! He's missed out on a $3500 install job. read more
