Arrived around 8:15 (45 minutes before closing). Food was well stocked but the counter and surrounding area was very messy. There was a huge black hair mixed in with the onions, and when we informed the employee, she used the serving tongs to remove it and put the tongs back in. My husband and I both asked for our noodles to be medium spicy, but ended up being super mild. The beef was a little dry but the pork was good. The veggies all seemed to be fresh, too. This is my favorite spot to eat at whenever I visit the Brea Mall. They raised the price a bit a few years ago, but it's still well worth it. It's cafeteria style pick-as-you-go raw veggies and meats. When you reach the end they ask if you want medium or spicy and if you'd like garlic. Then they grab a pile of noodles, throw it on a round slab stove with the stuff you picked out and voila! Delicious food. The portions more than make up for the price. I always eat half there and bing the rest home for later. Not an ideal spot of strict vegans, vegetarians, people with food allergies, or individuals with Coeliac Disease. They cook everything on the same surface, so cross contamination of ingredients definitely happens. read more

Honestly i really enjoyed eating here, food is great and all the past times ive been, workers were great and friendly. But this past weekend that i went, cooks decided to be an asshole and talk smack on me and my girlfriend. And on top of that he blocked us from grabbing topics! I wish i got his name but i didnt. The incident heated me and my girlfriend up but we took it professionally and just decided to get our money back and not eat there because we had lost out appetite! Hopefully someone can do something about that cook because he is an asshole and shouldnt be treating/talking to customers the way he did. Price is ok, food is good, you picked your own ingredients, then they cooked it in front of you just like any other Mongolian BBQ. And before they cook it, they put different sauces on it which I hope its all low on sodium/ MSG. But overall is good. Better than other Mongolian BBQ at other malls. Love coming here and enjoy the food but the owner has to do something about that one lady at the cashier. Always upset, yelling at customers and throwing stuff. My daughter loves this place and doesn't mind waiting in line whenever we come here. Once you've reached the start of the food line, you add your choice of chicken, beef, pork or turkey meat to your bowl. Then you pile on the fresh veggies of cabbage, carrots, onions, mushrooms, zucchini and more. Now you're topped off with thick chow mein noodles. Hand your bowl over to the cook and it's stir fried on a large circular grill, oils and sauces are added if desired. It's great to watch your meal cooked right in front of you. It's mall food....BUT, I'd come back to this place again if my tummy ever growls and wants to be fed. My mom always brought back left overs and even then I thought the food was pretty decent. Again, it's mall food so you don't expect a 5 star experience. However, for what it is, the food is filling and the flavor is quite decent. Today, my mom and I were contemplating on whether to just go home and eat dinner or eat at the food court. We were thinking of ordering from the Japanese stand next to Gengis Kan. But after seeing the line for Gengis Khan, I wanted to try it out in person. They had the LONGEST line out of all the other food stands inside this food court. That must mean something very positive and of course this got me very curious. The workers here are all very friendly and nice. The price is under $10 and you get plenty of food that won't disappointment you starving tummy. I've eaten at Ghengis Khan before and it's alright. However, I will NOT eat at Ghengis Khan ever again - especially this one. Last December, we were at the mall doing some Christmas shopping. We headed to the food court where my hubby ordered crappy food from Oka-San, which is right next to Ghengis Khan. We sat at the barstools facing the big grill at Ghengis Khan and for the next 20 minutes, we watched a few people come and go after getting their orders. During the in between time - when they had no customers - well, we saw something that was so disturbing at first and then it got hilarious and then it became disgusting. The employees would slide their whole body over the counter to go to the bathroom or to clean the counters or WHATEVER. Maybe this isn't a big deal to some, but dude, their shoes, their sweaty chests, their CROTCHES were ALL over those counters. AND THEN THEY WOULD GO BACK IN THE SAME WAY!! There were 3 different guys that we saw who kept doing this, and one man who looked like he could be the manager didn't seem to care. I captured a picture of it (look for it in the album on this review!!) and then we proceeded to see more people ordering. If you've ever ordered at Ghengis Khan or seen people order there, you know that they PILE on the noodles and meats and veggies to try to get the most bang for their buck and I saw so many people scooping noodles or meats that fell out of their bowl back in and it seriously made me want to hurl. Gengis Khan always has a long line whenever I go, so I usually try and go elsewhere. This time, it was the late afternoon, and since we had not had it in some time, we decided to go try it again. At the register, you choose what you want, drinks, what bowl or combo you want. If you want just the bowl, it is $7.99. Combos (which include a drink and a soup I believe) are $8.99. By the way refills for drinks- 64 cents! Just fyi~ Going through the line, you try and stuff as much as you want onto the plate. We got pork and chicken. Then came the vegetables (cilantro, broccoli, green onions, pineapple, soybeans, corn, mushroom, cucumbers, tomatoes). You tried to fit as much as you could but you had the limit! Some people also used the napkin received at the beginning to smush the food as much as they could. Then at the end, they add garlic and noodles on your plate. The workers then take it and start cooking it! Once they finish, they put it in a to go box and off you go into the food court. Quick Review: Always a long line, gonna cost you around $10, you pick veggies and meat, they cook it. Get it spicy. Tip $1 for extra noodles (make sure the cook sees you). Full Review: Gengis Khan has filled my belly up for quite some years now. I remember when Mongolian BBQ was kinda taboo to me and I never knew exactly what it was, since then though it has made me come back to the mall just to have it! If you can get past the long lines that are usually formed, the noisy mall food court and a billion people around you then you are good. The price for a single bowl is around $10, it seems like they have recently raised the prices again, but it is in that general area. Once you get your bowl you move to the meat section. Your choices are beef, chicken, pork and turkey(I think). All the meat is frozen so you may want to break it up with the tongs if you would like. Next is the veggies (my favorite). There is everything from pineapple to cilantro to broccoli. Don't be afraid to great a pyramid of ingredients, but make sure that it is all stable as they will only cook whatever is in the bowl only! After you have picked your ingredients it is time to decide if you would like spicy (say yes!). Sometimes it is outrageously spicy and sometimes it is not too spicy at all. Add some garlic and I really do not know what the rest of the liquids they add to it, but it is delicious! The chefs will add the noodles for you. All the food is cooked on a circular flat top stove that must be a million degrees hot. The cooks use two gigantic chopstix to toss and turn your bowl of ingredients until it is nice and cooked all the way through. When the cooks give you your bowl back you can add chili flakes (it is already spicy!) and sesame seeds. Now it is time to dive in and hope you can handle all the goodness that this is! It's a Genghis Khan... meh. These little spots are located in various malls around the OC and LA area...probably elsewhere too. And while it's nothing to have a mouth orgasm over, it's not bad. I filled up my bowl to overflowing levels of meat and veggies to start. Once I got to the sauce area, the guy cooking asked what I wanted. I told him, "Hook it up my my man! Tons of garlic and hot stuff! Yeah!" He laughed and proceeded to place so much garlic in my bowl I still smell like garlic at the end of the day lol! We can all hate on Mr. Khan all we like. We can laugh at it being represented as "Mongolian Food" (rofl). We can also criticize easily, but in the end it was decent. At least in the fast food arena. It's not my first time here. They always everything squeaky clean--with one exception: THE GRILL. It's the heart and soul of the whole place and there is so serious crusting on it. It gets to the point where flakes if it break off into your food. I get squeaked out about, it's kind of a pet peeve. The food still tastes great, but just the thought of it was a little off-putting. This place used to be my go to spot after doing some shopping but this past weekend I had a terrible experience with my boyfriend one of the cooks was very rude and not professional at all. Not sure what type of training they go through but he didn't not meet any of the restaurant professions. At one point he blocked me from getting veggies, we decided to just get out money back even if the food is good nothing beats mannerism. I was a frequent customer at gengis khan before its renovation. The food and service was usually good. Their past employees were hard working and friendly. Sadly, this is not the case anymore. I came here for a quick lunch and there was a line. The lady behind the counter seemed nice but looked exhausted. I guess she was too busy with customers. I topped off my empty bowl with beef, turkey, bean sprouts, green onions, carrots and mushrooms. My bowl looked very full since the frozen meat took a lot of room of the small bowl. Then I reached to the end of the food counter and was about to put some oil to my bowl. I usually have a choice to season my Mongolian plate. But this time, a cook guy didn't say a word me. He instead waved his finger signaling me to stop putting the oil into my bowl. I was like ... Wow. So I asked him back "are you going to do it for me?" He nodded his head and turned away. Wow, I was speechless! After 2,3 minutes, he came to season the food and overtop my bowl with noodle. The funny thing was the guy gave me back the bowl, asked me to go to the other side of the counter and retook the bowl to cook the food. I was thinking to myself "why didn't you just cook the food after overtop it with noodle?" As the result of giving back the bowl to me, the noodle and other veggies slid out and was all over the red plate. A really unprofessional and inexperienced cook! I remember coming here many years ago and thinking this was easily one of the best spots for Mongolian BBQ in the area...but unfortunately, that's no longer the case. The prices have gone up significantly, as you used to be able to get a combo that included a plate, soup and rice for $10 - but now they charge the same price for one measly bowl that's really difficult to fill up, considering the frozen pieces of meat are rolled up and take up a lot of room. Ultimately, most of the plate ends up being a bunch of greasy noodles that were cooked on a gigantic communal grill that sure could use a good deep cleaning. There are far better options in the food court than this! read more

Let's just first put it out there: it's mall food. With that, however, it's some pretty damn good mall food. I don't particularly care for the meat. I just order a bowl and skip right to the veggies sections. I usually pile on the mushrooms, since that usually gives the noodles a good heap of meatiness without having to consume actual meat. I always get my noodles spicy and with every sauce and oil on it (it's the best that way). All the flavors meld together quite harmoniously. The thick noodles have just the right amount of chewiness, without being overdone or underdone: just al dente. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is the fact that the counter and containers are sometimes really messy (like the employees need to be constantly cleaning the containers so that there's not green onions in my mushroom stack). Regardless of that, this place is still one of the best eateries in the Food Court. read more

Not as good as some of the other mongolian BBQ places that I've tried, and definitely one of the more pricier options at the Brea food court. The meats here are previously frozen(as usual) but the veggies and other offerings are pretty fresh for the most part. The portions are as BIG as you want it to be! Make sure to strategically place the meat AROUND the outside edges of the bowl to create a type of funnel. OR, just use the napkin and SMASH the stuff down so you can fit more! Don't hesitate to ask for extra noodles if you want, they typically won't charge for it. If you tip a dollar, they'll treat you even better! Just make sure. I recommend getting all the sauces except the spicy - unless you like spicy, because it's damn hot! 3* for value, service, portion size read more

I don't know why, but it's my favorite in the mall. It's even what I crave while pregnant (with #2). And the staff is nice, especially when you ask them to cook your food away from people getting spice in their noodles. I had to ask one time because my 5 year old was with me and wanted to share my noodles. The cashier was very nice about it and informed the cooks. The cooks didn't give me any problems about it and cooked some spicy noodles, then cleaned the grill and cooked my food after. Thank you for the kind gesture. Of course I tipped them and my son was very happy to have noodles with his mama. The cooks also understand the bowls are small and you can only stack so much, so they always ask if you'd like extra noodles. I love this place. As a very indecisive person, I decided to go with my gut and it decided Mongolian BBQ that night (Actually, I was craving Mongolian BBQ yesterday night but given the very long line, my stomach was very impatient. It couldn't wait much longer, so I sadly walked to another place with a shorter line.). I knew the mall closed at 7 pm, so I stepped on the pedal to rush here before they closed. When I arrived, I was kinda worried since the line was still somewhat long but not as long as yesterday. Luckily enough, I managed to get there in time for them to accept my payment and ended up being the last person they accepted. I felt kinda bad telling the patrons who were coming that they were now closed but ALAS, my stomach was finally satisfied. However, I do recommend not coming in mere minutes before closing since they do not restock any of their meats or veggies. If you want a constant replenishment of them instead of what remains, come at least 30 minutes earlier. Regardless, there were still a decent amount of meats and veggies to choose from. As a chicken person, I reached for the chicken tray but there weren't many large chunks left (mostly shredded, which is not a problem... I just prefer larger chunks of meat). The veggies were just as fresh as ever, but I wish there were more bean sprouts and green onions to take. I definitely give a plus to the employees there. They helped me get the remaining of the tray by tilting the tray so I can get what veggies were left. Despite the lack of replenishment of the meats and veggies, they did restock their noodles to make sure the remaining customers had a good amount of noodles. I love how they pack the noodles on top of the bowls themselves after you get all your meats and veggies -- provides a really good ratio of meats/veggies to noodle. After a nice stir fry, I sat down at the food court and ate my dinner with glee. This place definitely did not disappoint me when it comes to flavor. It somewhat put a dent in my wallet though ($7.99 without tax for the bowl alone), but it was worth it in the end. I would recommend this to anyone with a large appetite. An overflowing bowl can result in a giant meal for someone who doesn't eat a lot. So unless you can finish an entire meal by themselves, like me, make sure you have someone you can share it with (or you can save it for another meal... however, I think it's the best fresh out of the stir fry). The bowls are the size of my fist and we have to fit everything we want (the ingredients) in the bowl. The bowl filled up even before I got to the veggies. It was my first time eating here and so I thought I could get another plate to get the ingredients I wanted because it wouldn't fit it the freaking bowl. The worker literally just stared at me. Didn't correct me whatsoever. I got pissed so i filled it up as much as I could and I asked what I do with the leftover ingredients. I've been coming here with my mom and brother since I was a kid! There's always a line, but definitely worth it. It's $9.99 for the combo, which comes with the noodle bowl, soup, rice, and a drink. I usually have Mongolian noodles whenever I'm at a mall food court, and the one here at Brea is the best. If you want more noodles, ask them while they're grilling your food and they'll throw some in (extra for those who tip). read more

Well I had an issue with the delivery ( which is not there fault) I believe it was door dash and well I didn't get my food or my refund back and I wrote to the owner in getting my money back and as soon as I sent the message not even a minute later she called me and was able to refund me back my money. Who's never had Mongolian bbq yet? Seriously. If you don't know how to pack in the meat and make a supportive nest for your vegetables, were you under a rock for 20 years? Ok. This place is great. Straight forward: you pay for your bowl and shuffle down the line while you try to create your own perfect meal. Trick is, I grew up with amazing parents that prized meat above everything when eating. So I PACK MEAT IN. Sprinkle some onions and mushrooms... viola! I ordered bowl that is not spicy for my kids but it turn to be very spicy:-( I am giving 5 stars because they clean up the hot plate completely and made me another one.
