I came in on a Monday for lunch and fortunately they weren't busy. I love that they have a window you can walk up and order from (to-go) and they also have a small dining room. I didn't go in, as it's still freezing this time of year so I placed my order to go and waited in my car. I wish I could order their huge burgers, but I never finish large amounts of food, so I settled on their kids me of a Jr. burger (sauce and pickles - I added cheese) and it comes with fries and a small drink. i can't remember the last time i came to general's and they gave me my FULL order. every time i come my order is always missing something. maybe instead of chitchatting, the employees can take the time to make sure the orders are complete and nothing is missing before handing the food out. it's understandable if it was rush hour and there was a lot of people but whenever i go it's never busy! read more

Maybe because we went here with friends (that go here frequently), but the service was excellent! Building has a very small indoor seating area with a few both style tables. There are also outdoor tables. The food was good. Just what you'd expect from this type of place- fried golden delicious not the healthiest, but very tasty! Lots of variety in the menu! read more

Needed a quick bite while working Shafter the other day and saw General's so I decided to drop in. It's your typical high school type fast food place with burgers, fries and assorted stuff like chicken strips. The food is really reasonably priced, cheaper than a lot of other places. Staff is very friendly and the food came out quick with no old oil taste or anything unpleasant. Fries were hot and crispy, good ranch and good fried burritos. 0 Stars if I could. New management sucks, couple years back was great. Now they have young kids working, most if not all of them. Which itself is not bad but they are definitely not trained. Horrible service. Sent my son to get me a Sunday, came back melted he said he saw it waiting there for 30 minutes before serving, sent him back and he came back with syrup full Sunday and still melted as if they just switched the container and added syrup to mask the other liquids. 0/10 do not recommend unless they fix their crap. Place looks visibly dirty too as if they don't clean AT ALL. Also forgot my fries and gave my sons attitude saying they called it right after they left, as if it shouldn't have been served with all the other food we ordered. I told the worker to tell the employees to wear gloves when they make food because i noticed how they dont use gloves when they cook the food which is super unsanitary and i asked if they can wear gloves and he told me that "they wash their hands" and accusing me of calling them dirty. when in reality, its commen sense to wear gloves when working in fastfood. Found the burger to be decently seasoned but dripping with a lot of thousand island style dressing. Pretty much overran the burger. The fries were crunchy but a tad cold but well seasoned. The last three I have been my food was cold , I call before going down there I let them know I want the fries hot or I don't want them they assure me they but when I get they are cold. It seems to me the people that work the evening shift are all very young and do not know what they are doing. A few are rude no nothing about dealing with customers, the food is over cooked or cold. when I call an order in I have to hang up and call again at least 3 times because they put me on hold but they forget about me, I suggest the owner get some people in there that actually care about his business. I got a great meal for less than 6 bucks! So I went to Shafter as part of a resolution to be more confident on the road and stopped by and got: nuggets, crinkle fries, and a large soda. The ice was that crystal-like crushed ice and the nuggets were so delicious, I was disappointed when I ate it all. If you ever go through Shafter and need a good meal, go to Generals Headquarters. I think I will some back again in the future if I'm in the area, maybe try the burgers or sandwiches. read more

One of the best options in Shafter, love that I've come here since 1976. Soon to be 50 years. Stars based on location. My go to Pastrami has a bit of variability on meat quality. When it's good they are one of the best, otherwise, a bit rough. The soft serve cones are a go-to. The Boysenberry shakes are double thumbs up. read more

I was driving through Shafter, got a call and had to pull over to follow up. I pulled into the General's Headquarters around 7:00am. I was surprised to see it was open, i went in as I was very hungry. A professional, friendly young lady greeted me. I ordered two 1/4 lb burgers and a coffee. I checked the receipt as the price was about the same you would pay for one burger at most hamburger fast food restaurants, an incredible value! The burgers were fresh, good quality and nostalgic of burgers of a bygone era. No fancy exotic toppings just lettuce and cheese and what you would find on a traditional burger. The lady was attentive, friendly, and I asked if when I finished my meal, if I could get a coffee refill. She waited until I had finished my meal and placed another cup of coffee for the road. I was driving south of Lost Hills and entered "hamburger" into Google . Burger Factory and Generals HQ popped up with General HQ having 4 plus stars on Yelp. The menu looked interesting so I drove east on Lerdo fourteen miles off I-5. It was 5:00 pm and twenty people were outside the modest burger stand. They are really cool people, the staff wore protective equipment. Ok, I asked "What's good"? Six different people recommended the Biggie, Pastrami Burger or the 3/4lb monster if I was starving. I ordered the Biggie with a large fries a feast that filled me up. Burger was perfect, the fties fries were screaming hot. They serve some good looking burritos and tacos as well. I've been visiting this restaurant since it was Foster's Freeze, and tonight was the worst service and food I've had from them. First, they seem to have wanted to let the phone ring until I gave up so I couldn't order. Of course I acted like a crazy girlfriend and called right back until they picked up . When we got the food, the girl had serious attitude. I'm not asking for a smile and ass-kissing, but when we ask if the ranch is in the bag "idk, if you ordered it, it's in there" *bitchy face* is not the correct response. ESPECIALLY when we got home and one burger looked like it was put together by a toddler and was missing the onions (included on the RECEIPT). The onion rings were also burnt to a crisp.
