After calling around to multiple companies for quotes, it became clear that many other companies had multiple additional fees (Trip fee, Appliance fee, "heavy item fee", etc). Additionally, other companies had poor customer service or secretaries answering the phone, that had very little info about the services provided. The owner of the company answers the phone, and he is the one on the job. He was with us every step of (our rather challenging) move, and made the whole process extremely efficient. We even went over our estimated time by a couple hours (entirely my fault for mis-judging the volume of stuff to be moved), but they stuck around to make sure the job got done! They are great at what they do. We moved an entire house worth of furniture and boxes into a storage unit. While this in and of itself is a lot of work, they were very conscious of how each item could/should be stored for long term storage, and also worked closely with us on keeping items would need more readily available, out near the door of the unit. Other companies I spoke with, aside from have numerous additional fees that General Expert doesn't have, were cold and rather uninterested in making things work. The individuals we worked with and spoke to on the phone were professional, and very personable. They were efficient and very willing to roll with it. We had to move from DC (North Bethesda) to Minneapolis on a tight time schedule due to availability of an apartment. We called Michael 3 days before and he was able to fit us in, and his quote was the least expensive of everyone we called. Quite frankly the best moving experience I have ever had (or heard about). They arrived on time, they were patient with us while we had some trouble getting our keys from the landlord which says a lot since they quoted us a price based on getting the job done, not by the hour. They were polite, hard working, and just a pleasure to work with the whole time. At one point the elevator in our building went down and without hesitation they just started hauling stuff up 4 flights of stairs. I had to move out within a week during the end of December, which is usually a busy time of the year. I saw the good reviews for these guys, sent out an email to them, and quickly got a response back. In short, I'm really glad I chose them, due to their clear cut cost of service and their efficiency. They are a two man crew with a moving truck, and they charge $150 an hour with a 2 hour minimum. "That price includes everything, the truck, two movers, moving pads, dollies, shrink wrap, and tools for disassembling and re-assembling anything necessary. Time starts when we arrive, and time ends when we finish moving or assembling the last item." I moved to an apartment about 15 minutes away from my previous one, and they got me moved in exactly 2 hours. They were fast, efficient, friendly, and I had no issues throughout the whole move. read more

We hired General Expert movers for our move on 8/15/19 and had a great experience with them. From the initial phone call to the move itself they were professional, efficient, and friendly. One of the crew became ill during the move and General Expert arranged a replacement for him and made an allowance for this change over that we did not pay for. Moving is never fun but we recently used Michael and his team for an office/commercial space move and cannot say enough good things about them! They were super responsive to all our inquiries, affordable and SO efficent. Their estimate of time and man power required was exact. We had a ton of really heavy fixtures that they moved no problem. We also had some furniture that required (super tedious) disassembly and they even took extra time to reassemble all of it. This company is fantastic! I called them yesterday and asked if they could move a dining set for me because the mover I had originally reserved was a no-show. The owner of this company is AWESOME! He helped me out when no one else was able to... I had 2 old TV's that needed removed and I had an almost new dryer that I wanted to swap for removing the TV's. He was the only person who responded to help me do this swap. No money exchanged. His communication was quick, he was extremely professional and on time (early actually). Excellent moving company. Michael and staff were timely, efficient and professional. Moved us from a third-floor condominium to an apartment plus storage unit. Showed up on time with a crew of 5, did a great job fitting everything into the truck and helped us with disassembly and reassembly of two king-sized bed sets.
