I went to Lisa, then to Mimi, approximately two years ago. Over the past two months, I noticed that my toenails were getting yellowish and darkish, and very thick, so I asked my doctor for a referral to a podiatrist. My podiatrist confirmed that I have a serious case of toe fungus. I informed Mimi that I was diagnosed with toe fungus, and she replied that she will help me take care of it; "we just need to keep cutting the bad nails as they grow", was her response. To Ms. Kimberly's review, I hope you're getting a discount or a compensation check for your rebuttal to the negative review down there...or you might as well just work there because it sounds like you're particularly defensive By the way, 20' to 30' (single prime symbol) can be represented as MINUTES and feet. Nice attempt to try and fix other's mistake, when you seen pretty clueless yourself. "You make my brain hurt" I can testify to the horrible, fake service at this nail salon. You're getting sub-par, over-priced (this is factoring in the price changes during covid which is JUSTIFIED) however, 50-60 dollars for a BASIC pedicure is indeed overpriced...especially when you're getting it done for less than 30 minutes. No one out here is asking for special treatments for a basic pedicure, but if someone asks for a basic pedicure with no gel, and you include gel polish and proceeds to up-charge the customer without notice, THAT'S WRONG KIMBERLY. To comment on their work on the nails/pedicures alone, the gel peels off, the paint job on the toes smears out to the cuticle...they're just simply not that good. Do not go there!!! Do not recommend!!! Ok, I have never written a review for pedicure/manicure service before (although I have had a lot of pedicures/manicures done with many nail shops in Folsom); however, I feel a need to say something this time. I would never go back to this nail shop and would never suggest anyone to go there. We couldn't make an appointment with my regular nail shop for 3 pedicures today at last minute, and the Gelicious Nails has open for 3 pedicures at 2:30pm today, so we decided to give it a try. 1) Issue started the minute we showed up there. We got there on time (maybe 5' early) and were told that they could only do two and the 3rd person would have to wait because they short on people (There were only 2 nail techs available. The other nail tech was still working on the other customer). We said, we could wait for a bit so all 3 of us can go at same time. After a little bit of back and forth talking, they said they could do all three and told us to sit in the chairs. We sat in the chairs and they started working on my niece's and my daughter's feet while I had to wait for another of 20'-25'. By the time they started working on my nails, they were almost done with my daughter (we got there around 2:25pm, waited for a bit and then sat in the pedicure chairs probably 2:35pm or so, and they were done with my daughter's pedicures before 3pm (less than 30' total). 2). My mistake (and I regretted) is that I didn't ask about the price prior to the service. I have done many many pedicures in Folsom, and I believe you can get a decent pedicures (non-gel) around $35. They asked if we are doing gel or non-gel and we explicitly stated non-gel multiple times. And they charged us $50 per person for a work that was no where matching that price. I don't complain about the price if it is worth it but it was no where close. 3) For my teenage daughter, they did her toes nails for less than 30' (This includes all the chitchatting, answering the phones. There was not so much to cut or trim or file with her (still baby) toes nails. They didn't offer much massages either, and they got all that done in less than 30'). 4) For my niece (early 20's), the person did her pedicures is like an older lady. She didn't seem to want to put any effort in the work. She did a very simple pedicures: not much massage, no sugar scrub, no paraffin or hot stone or anything. It was definitely a type of basic pedicures you can get in almost any shop. She didn't massage with lotion. My niece had to ask her to do it and she didn't look happy with the ask. Another $50 for a less than 40' pedicures with nothing special. You feel no pampered at all. 5) For my pedicures, they probably spent more time (relatively) among all three but still less than 40' with nothing special, just basic (i.e. no scrubbing, no paraffin, no hot stone and the massage she gave me was not even good - feel more like they were feeling my feet rather than massaging). When time for the bill, I asked the lady who gave me the bill (also the one who worked on my toes nails) if $150 for 3 pedicures was the right amount. She first said gel was more expensive and when I reminded her we didn't do gel, she replied she charged us the non-gel price (I feel something suspicious there). I don't think these people do business with honesty..... Anyway, they didn't gain a new customer today. In fact they may lose some potential customers who might see this review. She's spunky and you gotta be spunky with her. I would not let that scare you off as some of the reviews seem to suggest. Lol. Strong business woman with values. She will be my go-to for gels when I am in town. I couldn't find a neutral but she found a perfect shade. However, I do constructively suggest a little more attention to detail to shape, slower work, and how the paint sets (follows the curve of your cuticle without flooding out of your nail bed). I am particular to how my clear gel sets, without touching my cuticles. Just a few minor tweaks and this place is gonna thrive even more! I love supporting new business in town. The older gentlemen that did my toes was very meticulous. He paid attention to blemishes on my nails and fixed them without me asking. I like someone who takes their time. Was super kind. So, heard about this place through a friend. I was lamenting to her that I saw tons of cute ideas for nails online but am told repeatedly by other places they can't do what I want. Saw on Yelp that they had a special -- $30 for a manicure and pedicure on certain days. I went there, checked in, got the coupon and then asked the lady about redeeming it. The place is really cute and everything is spotlessly clean. The massage chairs are deluxe. The music was soothing. I really WANTED to like this place. The lady gestured me to the gel polishes. I said I wanted a regular polish and she looked at me as if I was committing a crime. LOL She pointed to the back room and said "Pick your color" in a rather hostile tone. I kid you not! Her manner was not really friendly at all. I started to pick my color and thought about walking out. However, another younger lady came out from the back, passed me and smiled, which helped the situation. I prayed she would be the one to do my pedicure. She prepped my chair and gestured for me to sit down. Thankfully, the younger lady did my pedicure. During the whole time she and the other lady spoke together in Vietnamese, not paying any attention to me at all other than to tap my feet to indicate it was time to move into the water and change feet. I "get" speaking in your mother language... I really do. However, to speak it exclusively and SO much during a service is rude, I think. If you don't speak English so well, If nothing else, SMILE at the customer during the interaction, for pity's sake! Another lady named Joanne came in and was helping another customer in the front manicure area. She was extremely personable and seemed to know her clients very well. The lady doing my pedicure raced through my pedicure, barely massaging my legs at all. Likewise, she barely scrubbed my heels at all. She did do a nice job of painting my toes. However, I really wasn't happy with the overall experience. Again... I REEEALLY wanted to like this place, as it is so clean and that is a huge deal to me. So many places really take shortcuts in cleanliness. However, for this interaction, they really fell short in the customer relations part and did only a halfway-acceptable pedicure. I went here on recommendation of a friend of mine and the service was okay (gel manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax). I went back a second time and it was HORRIBLE. The pedicure was fine but she had to remove the gel nail polish and it was a bit of a painful experience as she used the acetone but also used the nail file and got down almost to the nail bed (it was so thin and painful). I literally had the paint chip off the NEXT DAY. That's not even the worst part - she did my eyebrows and literally was using the tweezers to tweeze my SKIN! I have been reading some of the reviews that have been left, and quite frankly I am shocked with the amount of ... dumb out there. Let me first state that I have been a client of this salon for over two years and NEVER had a problem, I can always get in when I need to - because I make an appointment before hand - and the pedicures are as I expect them to be. In all the years I have had my acrylic nails and pedicures done - over 20 years by the way- I have NEVER thought a basic pedicure included a hot stone massage or a paraffin wax treatment. It is a basic pedicure, if you want something more then you ask for it and you PAY FOR IT! -cinematic eye roll If your are complaining about a wait for three people when you call a salon you do not frequent last minute for three pedicures and they tell you they can get you in, but one person may have wait, and when you walk in and see two attendants finishing clients that made appointments prior and are probably regular clients, then sit down and wait for your turn, you were worked into the schedule of clients that were already on the books. - By the way, you know who you are Hanna B (PS you said you waited 20' - 30'. I've been here twice. The first time was a 5 star experience. Beautiful nails, basically what I asked for, and they lasted longer than two weeks. My toenails made it for over a month, even after I trimmed them. The first time, I showed a picture of what I wanted for my engagement photo session. The woman convinced me to get red instead of black, which I don't regret but may have changed if I had the opportunity to do it again. My toenails were painted with a gel polish that lasted forever and I absolutely loved it. The second time, the experience was great again! Everyone was friendly and talking with us. I called and made my appointment a half hour before I arrived, so if getting one's nails done is a spur of the moment decision (it usually is for me), fear not! I received excellent service, and I wasn't pressured to do any upsells. It took exactly an hour to do the mani and pedi, including drying time, which is perfect. I'm writing this review the day of, so I can't comment on how long my polish lasts without a chip. I have high hopes! The salon environment is great. The shop is super quaint! 4 pedicure stations, 4 nail stations and I believe 3 ladies work there. JoAnn, the owner, is well known for her nail art and it shows in all the work she's done. See for yourself on her public instagram: joann7374! The prices are comparable to other nail shops in Folsom and the store is CLEAN. For me, I do my research with shops cause you can get all sorts of infections especially with pedicures. I've gotten a gel-mani and pedicure here once and brought my mom and sister a few days later. For the pedicure, I saw them change their circle filter thing with each new client. Kudos! They use disposable filers and foot buffers. They have this metal tool and with each customer they change the buffer. it sticks to the tool and is removable. I love this because they can sterilize the tool and dispose of the portion for each new customer! I hate going to a nail shop and the nail techs pull tools out of pencil containers and you never really know when or if it's clean. I called ahead of time on Sunday and Joann told me to come in at 4:30. They close at 5 so I felt kinda hesitant but decided to come at 4:15 just in case. It was a full house! I waited quite a bit of time to finally be seen by Van, but I patiently waited and they kept apologizing for the wait. So I didn't wait in vain! I finally started my gel mani and pedi closer to 5. Not once did I feel like the process was rushed as it was Sunday and they close early. They didn't lock the doors and turn off their lights. Before you get your nails done here, just be advised if you are looking for exceptional service you wont experience it here unless you are a repeat customer... This was a first time getting my nails done here and it was my last. My mother insisted we tried this salon because she'd had seen someone else nails and liked them. Coming from East Sacramento, my mother and I were running 5 minutes late. The owner called me asking where we were and was upset. (Literally parking the car when she called) I had coffin nails done for the first time and wanted them a little shorter than normal but the owner insisted I went longer because they look better (In my opinion they didn't). While getting my nails done I had asked if she did glow in the dark powder. She said yes its "very expensive" and wouldn't give me the amount. I insisted that I was interested in the glow in the dark powder, (she hadn't even started putting powder on my nails) and again she said it was very expensive. In my opinion she didn't want to do the powder and possibly thought it would be too time consuming (which its not). I decided on a red glitter nail polish, I wasn't too happy with the out come because the polish was chunky and dull even after a top coat. At this point I was already unhappy and didn't want her to fix what she had already messed up. Could she have done better, yes Im sure but I didn't want her to do it. My mom went after me and had french tips put on. Nothing that a salon closer to town couldn't do better. I had a gel manicure and pedicure from this location and I'm very disappointed. I only tried this place out because of the Yelp reviews. Now I've had gel manicures from other places that lasted 2-3 weeks. My gel manicure from this place was chipping after 3 days. My pedicure was ruined from the beginning when the nail technician painted my big toe nails to thick. I had to go back and have them repainted. When I walked back in the Main Nail technician tells me, I need to talk to the one who helped me. So I walked to the back to let her know my issue but she now had started another clients pedicure. I patiently waited approximately 10 minutes before she started helping me. She didn't want to remove the polish and start from the beginning process( Mind you it was just the 2 big toes only) she decides to apply another coat. I've been here a couple of times and really wanted to like it, but don't. It's a cute, decorated salon and looks clean which I appreciate. However, the owner, who is the main one that can paint anything is not friendly unless you are her regular. She looked at me each time I came in like I was crazy. I had a full acrylic set put on and showed a picture of oval shaped nails that I liked. They spent a great amount of time shaping and making sure I liked everything about them before they moved on. As someone who really doesn't speak up about these sort of things, I really really appreciated them triple checking with me before continuing. I had them top the nails with OPI Taupeless Beach regular polish and so far, it has been a week and a half and still no chips!! This is unheard of for me, even with my current job. I am VERY pleased and will continue to return to them for all my needs and those of my family and friends! Might even try the gel polish next time for an even longer wear. Full acrylic set with shaping and regular polish was $35. Great prices. PS - the environment in the salon is incredibly warm and inviting. Joann makes a point to chat with all of her clients beyond the typical "hi how are you". Every woman there seemed to truly have a friendship with her and it created a positive, entertaining, and relaxing experience. So you have two ads, one says 15% off for appointment M-F and one for 15% when you check on...wouldn't honor it...then when I brought it up the owner said "oh ya I don't know...Monday through Friday only" So LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, a customer asks about an offer, tells you she is confused because they are showing as 2 different offers and when he can tell that I am getting frustrated because it's confusing he STILL WONT HONOR?!? HORRIBLE customer service! Loved this place when I went last time but when you can't admit your ads ate confusing and wrong...you don't even try to rectify?!? Well that's how to lose a customer. My girlfriend and I went to Gelicious Nails for a gel manicure (with no appointment) and I was very pleased with my gel manicure. A gentleman did my nails and did a spectacular job. The gel lasted a good 3+ weeks, the longest that a gel manicure has every lasted on my nails. I would say that I'm an active person (I type a lot and I am a mother of a very active son) so I was very pleased with the quality of my gel manicure. I can't wait to go back. For $25, it was definitely worth the price! read more
