I wanted to update my RAM this past week. I am well aware that there is a RAM shortage but before going to Amazon I thought I'd try to support small business. I called the store and whoever answered the phone was VERY rude. He was like "THERES NO RAM ANYWHERE. TRY AMAZON" well guess what I did try Amazon and got my RAM within a day. Staff are nice in this place but has no say when it comes to prices, the owner prices are all over the place, if you are looking for vintage computers deals look elsewhere, he is using ebay premium prices for working computers as a reference even when the computer he is selling is defective and not matching the ebay quality, if you show him the ebay isting then he ask you to go buy from ebay if you don't like it. Sold prices for same computer he was selling were %50 so why bother going there. You can find cables and relatively modern pc parts but still prices are definitely not going to make you happy. read more

What can I say about Geeks Candy Shop.....This is the best place in San Diego to pick up surplus/used Computers, Tablets, and parts!!!!! The customer service is outstanding and they bend over backwards to take care of you. I went in looking to build a home NAS and we decided on an older Dell Power Edge tower machine. We loaded it up with additional ram, hard drives, and an ssd boot drive. They tested and fought with it to get make sure everything was detected in the bios (the whole process took about 1.5 hours) and I went home with my new to me machine. Unfortunately when I got home and tried installing Truenas Core it kept hanging up during the install process (I even tried using Unraid and still no luck). The next day I gave them a call and was told to bring it back in. I got there a little after 4pm (they close at 5pm) and we proceeded to look for another machine that would fit my needs. After trying out a few options we ended up putting together a custom setup out of the parts they had in stock. They stayed open 40 minutes late to make sure I was taken care of and even gave me a discount on the upgrades. This shop does have a lot of goodies for if you are a computer builder/repair technician. However, I personally find their items overpriced for what they are. There was a time when I was looking for a computer in a mini form factor. They did carry several of them and so I picked one up. Computer was working fine. But when I got home, I noticed that the computer reported only half of the advertised RAM capacity. And the power adapter, which did not come with the computer and I had to purchase it separately, was not OEM and whenever I plugged in to the outlet it would give sparks. So I had to return to the store and asked for a refund for the power adapter and to have them install the other "half" RAM. Just sharing this to hopefully help anybody who is looking to buy stuff here. Just be aware. read more

I had a situation trying to run 3 monitors and after speaking to them, they helped me come to the conclusion that I needed to upgrade my video graphics card. Hell world! Hope this finds you well. I ran into some trouble with a scam. Something was not adding up and red flags were popping, so I decided to call Geek Candy Shop. JORDAN HEMILTON was the one who took the time to answerd all my questions as silly as they may have been. He is extremely intelligent, professional and patient. Jordan explained how things work in these situations and helped me get on the right track. I searched Software AG's LinkedIn website for the people (scammers) who's names and other information. Nothing Of course when I asked what was the reason, they had an excuse. I then contacted the Hunan Resources at Woftware AG corporate. They also confirmed that it was a scam and that they have been trying to put a stop to this. HR explained their interview process which was nothing like mine was. Human Resources also suggested to reach out to Navy Federal Credit Union Bank I use, as well as none emergency local police department to open up a case since I did provide my passport (it was interesting they did not ask me for my social though). I printed out the correspondence as proof, to open up a case in case my identity may be taken advantage off. Again, I want to thank you JORDAN HEMILTON for helping out with this messy situation and putting me on the right track . Hopefully, I will be able to beat these scammers at their own game. I needed to get wireless networking on my 2015 Dell Precision for a new office setup. They had a PCI-E card right there in stock, but I discovered my motherboard didn't have the block connecter for an extra jumper cable (it's also a Win7 system, and the card was for Win10 - though, sometimes hardware is backward compatible). Anyway - I couldn't get it working so I took the whole CPU in and they spent an hour troubleshooting the setup for me. They were very friendly and professional. We eventually had to go with a different wireless card, which they had in stock (they've got a huge inventory on site), and even that took a little time since my onboard ethernet jack was dead, so getting drivers was a hassle - fortunately the new card had a mini CD with it. Anyway, it was a bit of an ordeal but the guys at Geeks Candy Shop stuck it out and really helped me get running. They're definitely my go-to shop in San Diego (just moved here). I'll probably be back for an SSD and a good refurbished laptop. You need to check them out. read more
