Disappointed by Office and Billing Practices - Despite an Excellent Doctor…read more I want to start by saying that Dr. Melissa Moore was absolutely fantastic--thorough, kind, and clearly excellent at what she does. I was genuinely planning to bring my whole family here despite the office not accepting our insurance, simply because of how impressed I was with her care. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience has been frustrating and disheartening. I made it very clear from the beginning that I understood my insurance wasn't accepted and asked the front office to just charge me whatever was necessary. Despite this, I was billed incorrectly not once, not twice, but three separate times--and I paid each time in good faith, trusting it was finally resolved. Then, months later, I received yet another bill in the mail for residual charges. At this point, it feels disorganized and frankly a bit exploitative. It's really disappointing to have such a positive clinical experience ruined by administrative mishandling. As much as I appreciated Dr. Moore's care, I won't be returning--and I won't be bringing my family either. This kind of billing confusion and delayed surprise charges is unacceptable.

A few years ago, I even had to switch doctors because my favorite optometrist retired. I am seeing Dr. Faith now and I respect and admire him just as much as my previous doctor. He is another long timer here who is personable, professional, and offers great advice. Dr. Faith is patient and always answers all of my questions with honesty and integrity. He doesn't make you feel rushed even though he may be feeling rushed himself. The front office seems to go through frequent staff changes but they have all been very friendly and helpful to me. The optical sales area has an extremely robust collection of frames and I have no trouble finding a pair that I love that fits well too. Dawn adjusted a pair of glasses I had purchased here and she has a great eye for pulling frames that will look good on you. She selected about 12 frames for me to try on and I could live with the majority of them very happily. I always look forward to my annual exams with Dr. Faith even though I no longer reside in the Tri Valley. It is well worth the trip for me.

The spacious frames display area kind of doubles as the lobby, which made it a fun and cozy place to wait, especially with antsy kids. The staff is super friendly and smiley. The doctor is great with little kids. She explained everything clearly and was understanding of all of our concerns. Her office uses newer technology to get readings.

We ended up cutting the exam short, and I left feeling uneasy. I started looking for another optometrist to get a second opinion and found this place. I called the office, and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. I saw Dr. Nguyen and explained what had happened and the reason for my visit. She listened to my concerns and thoroughly examined my eyes. It turns out, my eyes were perfectly fine! She answered all my questions, addressed my concerns, and walked me through different contact lens options with recommendations that were best suited for me. It did not include the cyc, axis, near add, int add, h prism, or v prism. I assume these aren't needed? I browsed their inventory and compared options I liked in store to online pricing. Online pricing was a better option for my preferences (as expected). Nonetheless, a decent place for exams.

The original frames I picked out didn't end up working with my high prescription so I was pretty unhappy with how heavy and thick they looked, and the staff didn't hesitate to offer to redo my glasses for me when I picked out a different frame. You get what you pay for and if you have insurance it'll likely cover most of the cost here anyway so I'd say make an appointment. My vision is awful and I always hate doing the vision tests, but Dr. Bloomingcamp was encouraging and understanding which made me feel at ease. I got a new pair of glasses and FINALLY have contacts that don't move around on my eye because of my astigmatism. Also, trying on glasses was wonderful too because she really listened to the style I wanted and picked glasses that work for my face shape. 10/10 highly recommended!

My husband came home having paid $49 all because they had him do a retinal scan WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE OPTIONAL. Instead of informing him that it is an extra service they did it in place of dilation and made it mandatory. I just took my Father in Law to Costco optical and paid $59 for everything including dilation. So what is the point of me having great eye insurance? Nothing apparently They should be up front and told us they weren't dilating eyes and that they were using this extra machine which is not covered by insurance. Also, I verified with VSP on this service and was confirmed by them that it is an OPTIONAL service. Me and my family will not be coming back here because of the deceiving practices.
