Complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip
Joe D.

I really enjoyed my lunch today at the Gecko Grill. The Salmon tacos were loaded with tender salmon and had just the right amount of mango salsa and cheese. The complimentary chips and bean dip came out warm and the salsas had a nice flavor. The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming with Mexican music playing in the background.

Spinach Enchiladas; Beef & Chicken Fajitas

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here! We've eaten at lots of Mexican restaurants all over the country, and this was the first time we've been given THREE dips along with the gratis tortilla chips. Then...they brought us an extra bowl of spicier (hotter) salsa, on request! Service was fabulous - it's so great to see someone who obviously enjoys what they are doing, and is eager to give you a good experience! My spinach enchilada was delicious, and my husband was very impressed with the flavor of the roasted vegetables with his fajitas. As silly as it may sound...we were pretty entertained with the "robot table busser "

Hours

This place is ridiculous and has the worst customer service. I really can't believe they are still in business. It's a Friday night, they close at 9. I got there at 8:40 and host wouldn't seat me. Said they are not taking dine in customers but I could do a to go order. THATS PURE LAZINESS!!! If you don't want customers a half hour before closing time then change your hours. Your light is flashing open, it clearly states you're open until 9 so one would think you're open but clearly you know nothing about customer service.

4/12/25 We are back for dine in today. Parking 5/5 We arrived for for a Late lunch around 3-3:30 ish ahead of the dinner crowd so scored parking at the door. Plenty of shared parking spaces. Ambiance 5/5 This visit was dine in and we took a closer look around. This Restaurant has great dining room design with a warm Mexican vide that carries through to the restaurant's outdoor Patio and Bar! Very beautiful restaurant. Menu 5/5 Full range of dishes to select from but this time we discovered Menudo on the menu which is served everyday according to the Manager Denise. Pro-Tip Menudo is a favorite with the locals and Sundays they may runout. Service 5/5 Our server before the Rush was the Manager Denise. She answered my Wife's and my questions then ordered. My wife ordered the Small Menudo bowl which was huge. She ordered the Spinach Enchiladas entree and I ordered the off-menu Steak Fondito. My order was good, the steak was flavorful and changed the dish significantly from the Pollo version. My wife loved both her selections but she quickly focused on her Menudo. This gave me grazing rights to her Spinach Enchiladas entree. I discovered their version of Elote and my sampling turned into a disappear act. I tried a few bites of the Enchiladas but realized this would become dinner for me since my wife doesn't like leftovers (happy, happy, happy me). Bottom line From ambiance to food this restaurant has it all. Fall, winter and spring the Patio is the place to hangout!! $66.00 for two but we actually had three entrees because the menudo was huge, one a leftover for another meal. Eat well my Friends SYOY!t

Stopped in for some Mexican food. Oh my was delicious. Ordered the crab enchilada. Was very tasty. Came with the rice and beans. Also had a special drink....Strawberry Momtini. Made with vodka and oh so yummy. Service was right on point. Checked in on us and was very attentive. The music playing was not loud and overwhelming like most Mexican places. Will definitely be back. Great job Gecko Grill!!!

The good? The portions here are decent for a second meal or sharing between two people and the chips paired with the house salsa and queso dip are fire! The outdoor patio area is very nice and lit up with string lights, a beautiful water fountain, and had a vibe like the movie Coco with the cute colorful flags strung across. The not so good? Prices are rather steep considering this is in Arizona. I was expecting to get a lofty-sized Gecko Burro (which is basically a wet burrito with carne asada) for around $15 max but it was closer to $20. And, their horchata was NOT GOOD. It was watered down and not creamy as I was hoping it would be. The food came out rather fast but that was also expected since it was the day after Thanksgiving and there was maybe two other parties there besides ours. I probably would come back just for the chips and salsa/queso dip but other than that, I'm unfortunately going to pass on here.

They advertise Football and close the patio?
Daniel S.

Geckos has really gone downhill in both food quality and service. Came in with a party of four to watch football, and while every TV on the patio was on, they refused to seat us out there--said the patio was "closed." Why advertise as a football spot if you can't even accommodate fans? We used to come here all the time before it was sold to a corporation, but it's just not the same anymore. This used to feel like a true neighborhood spot, now it feels like they don't care. Sadly, we won't be back.

I've seen this spot pop up a few times and have heard decent things about it. When I checked the menu I saw the Chicken Mango Quesadilla and have been wanting to try it...tonight I had my shot so I took it! This is a sit-down spot. I was greeted quickly and taken to my table. The staff were very friendly. After I placed my order I saw my first robot "dish taker-awayer" thing (I don't know what to call it!). Technology....whaddya gonna do, I'm a right? The Chicken Mango Quesadilla was good. I got a great tip from a friend to ask for green salsa which isn't advertised anywhere, it made a big difference. My favorite combination was dunking the quesadilla in the bean dip for the chips, THEN into the salsa...that's the money shot! On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd go back again and maybe try something else....the prices are a little steep ($20 for a quesadilla) but the overall experience wasn't bad. I left full and satisfied which is the goal :)

First time at this restaurant, and I was very happy to sit down to lunch with my husband this weekend. Chips and salsa were brought out immediately as our server Marta quickly greeted us, asked how we're doing, and what we'd like to drink. I ordered the signature Gecko Margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim, and it was delicious (and brought out so fast, I had barely picked up the menu). The tequila has a nice kick, but doesn't overpower the flavor at all. It went down very smoothly, and I was definitely tempted to get another! The verde salsa was unexpectedly sweet, but in a good way that really enhanced my experience and expectations. The salsa tasted very fresh and paired well with the tortilla chips (which were also made well). The red sauce is okay but it's a bit on the mild side for me. Still good, but I'd have liked a spicy option. My husband ordered the crab rellano and loved it. One of the first things he noticed and mentioned is that it's real crab and not imitation. His favorite sides are always beans and rice, and I have to agree the sides were good here too. It's hard to mess up beans and rice; it maybe isn't the most glamorous item on a menu, but it's a wonderful staple to any Latinx dish. I ordered the seafood chimichanga and couldn't believe it had pineapple in it. I love pineapple but I really should pay more attention. It was a wonderful surprise because it was sweeter than I expected for seafood, but amusing and delicious. They must use cream cheese because the texture is so gooey and rich and guaranteed to send me into a cheesy goodness coma. I also liked the bar's setup outside. I wish I could have taken more photos, but I don't want to photograph people because that's weird, but there's a fountain off to one side and the bar straight ahead as you walk in. The bar is gated off, and shaded tents are set up so patrons can enjoy the beautiful spring weather without the sun directly in their faces. Great experience and service. Definitely recommend!

Stopped in for lunch, and I really enjoyed the place. The patio was pretty nice. Service and food was perfect

Tempura Takeover - Getting my shrimp taco fix!

Tempura Takeover did not disappoint. We ordered outside at the food truck and they brought the food into the bar. I got the sloppy lobster burger. Hubby got two bulgogi tacos and a side of fries. There were no prices on the menu, but the total without tip was $48. My lobster burger was divine--chunks of tempura lobster, perfectly, cooked. I'm not going to guess what was in either sauce but they were both excellent and made the dish. Fries were solid. Downsides, it was about a 30 minute wait, which was clearly communicated. We got there about 5 minutes after open and there was a small line. There's probably strategy to make it go faster--get there at open or 30 to 45 minutes after. Food seemed to come out fast after the initial rush. Also, i would have liked ketchup as an option for the fries.

They post their locations on https://tempuratakeover.com/ I'm not a big fan of a lot of sushi or fusion sauces so was asking about the Takeover sauce. Ahdana, the owner, clearly took pride in the sauce and offered me a sample. I was gearing up to politely say it's not for me but I actually loved it! I would buy a bottle to have at home if I could. (hint: need this in stores!) I got the shrimp taco and the bulgogi taco. The shrimp taco was my favorite! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and there was plenty of it. The tempura had a great crunch and the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. It's definitely on my top tacos list and I'll be popping by whenever I can. I'm already craving it again!

Once again...a meal that was fantastic, fresh, and well cooked. Wife had an Amaretto Sour, which is made with Disaronno and she loves that drink, saying it's well balanced and she likes that they don't use the egg foam on top. She also ordered off the Crabby Hour menu some scallops on the half shell and some roasted brussels sprouts. This place knows how to roast spouts so that they are tender and toasted and not overdone. So yummy! The scallops are served with a light ponzu sauce drizzled over which complimented the tender scallops. Delicious! From the Restaurant Week menu, I chose the crab & Artichoke dip which we love and it isn't typically on their menu. It was so good and I had to ask for some extra toast points because there was so much dip! I also got the stripped bass, which was cooked to perfection although a smaller portion than the one you get from the regular menu. They do bass right! And for dessert, chose the Pumpkin Pot de Creme, which was my first taste of pumpkin for the season. Creamy and so good although I took off most of the whip cream because it was a lot. Overall another wonderful meal at our favorite fish restaurant!

That's what we start with and then we split the ribeye aguachiles which is like nothing else you've ever tried - it is spicy, so try some fish tacos if you don't like spice! Did I mention that they start you with a little cup of broth to sip on? I could live on it! Compliments to the chef, except for failing to spot the platter crack at the pass. Parking is easy and plentiful. 4 dinners, 3 drinks, an appetizer, and a free birthday flan were $280 with tax and tip. Not cheap, but worth it for us. BTW, we're seeing more AI electronic wall displays, and BLU is no exception. The loop of the infinity pool and shoreline from inside a beach cabana was more relaxing than annoying - YMMV if you are an artist.
