He is very knowledgeable, did not over charge, in fact he provided the lowest quote for the plaster and a 8X8 Sun Shelf added to the pool! Gustavo and his crew did a fabulous job on my pool! We bought a home with a pool that was in terrible condition, plaster had been neglected, and the tiles were missing and cracked. Heres what we liked about Gustavo- He's RELIABLE! Responsive by text Is extremely professional And does high quality work! His tile work was exceptional! The only thing I will say is that we contracted separately with another guy he often works with to do the lighting/heat, etc. I recommend you ONLY use Gustavo, don't use Ian the lighting guy. I would give this guy NO stars if possible. They bid to resurface my pool but I could not do it until next year. They agreed to fix a section of concrete for me and it was the worst mistake of my life. The first time they came (photo 2) the concrete was a mess as they let water get underneath the surface. They sent the same idiot out that did it wrong in the first place, and he tried to acid wash it to fix it with a presure washer. The pressure washing hose damaged large sections of my pool deck (photo 1). They then removed about 2" of the surface and tried to re-pour it. It rained the next day and the top washed off along with the salt that was left on it too long because the idiot failed to come the nextr day as he indicated. It is a rough nasty mess now (photo 3) and the rude unprofessional ower refuses to correct his mess, and fix the damage on my existing pool deck. Instead he suggested I should let him remove and replace my entire pool deck as he would give me a good price. The worst company ever. read more

GD replastered my pool two and a half years ago. It looked great for about three months. Then brown discolorations started coming through the new plaster on the bottom and sides of the pool. I called Gustavo, who claimed they were "calcium deposits." This never happened to my pool before the replastering, and I never heard of brown calcium. I asked him to do an estimate to remove them and never heard from him again. The owner of the pool company who's been caring for my pool for 15 years said another pool GD Plastering did had the same brown spots. He thought the metal framework in the gunnite was rusting through. Now I have to get my pool replastered again for thousands more dollars. Don't use this company. Total waste of money, although the tile they installed was fairly well done. read more

Joe was very reassuring that however we wanted our pool renovated it would be done. Problems and excuses. 1. The Cabo deck in the pool was to be 8 ft wide and cover the back end of the pool entirely, When I saw the Cabo it was a 12 ft. quarter of a circle that covered half of the pool back. The sub contractor said, "This is how I always do it." I said, "That is not what Joe said we would have." SC "If I change it will be $6,900 no it will be $11,000." He calmed down and called Joe. It was changed and covers almost the entire back and cost us an extra $6,900 and the 12 ft section is still there looking awkward.. 2. Joe told us we would not need solar panels to heat the pool if we used a dark color on the pool. Dark colored pools absorb the heat. We sent an email stating we wanted the Barbados Blue on p.37 of the NPT catalog. It is a very dark blue with pebble tech that includes small pebbles of dark blue and black. I arrived home to find the plastering finished in aqua blue with no pebbles at all. It looks very similar to the Barbados aqua blue on p. 39 of the NPT book but with no pebbling. Joe insisted that the pool is now the color we chose and that with time and brushing, it will become darker. Before we got home the pool was almost completely filled with water. Was this suppose to stop us from complaining about the wrong color? I asked several friends if a pool changes color after being installed with the wrong color. 3. In the 90 degree heat we suddenly had no air conditioning. We paid an electrician to survey the problem. The wiring had been disconnected by the man Joe had sent to connect the new wiring to the pool. Joe did take the cost of fixing the wiring off the total price. I gave this project two stars because we like the tile. It is what we chose. read more

Terrible workmanship. Cracks within days, tile loose, rubber cement coming off, stains, plaster was fired too quickly resulting in calcium eruptions abd pockets of player discoloration and coming off. Refused to redo work. Multiple customers with the same issues. Owner tries to make excuses with customers with issues and other contractors that hire him. Contractor board will now be aware and considering class action with so many customers affected. All I wanted was my pool redone and now extra cost to me to undo the crap work he did and redo entire pool. read more

I waited three weeks after they finished so my irritation could subside and I could be more objective. PROS: Plastering was well done and the price was reasonable. CONS: There was a language barrier-the young man who gave the estimate and presented the contract never asked what color plaster I wanted. I signed without reading every word (that was MY mistake). When the first worker showed up, I confirmed with him that I wanted "Tahoe Blue" plaster. He said "yes." It was only when most of the plaster was in the pool that it was clearly being done in white. The owner pointed out that the contract called for "white." He told me it would cost $3700 extra to get blue plaster, and that the employee I first spoke with didn't have any authority to vary the color (how would I have known that?) I knew the plaster truck would have to drive over my lawn to get to the pool, but the other five crew members thought they could park there too, so I had five other sets of tire grooves in the lawn. After they left, I found bottles, cans, trash and snack wrappers they had thrown in the flower beds, plaster splashed around trees and they also assumed the extension cord and hose I left by the pool belonged to the company, so they took them. If you use G.D. Plastering, make sure you read every word of the contract, and keep an eye on the workers every minute. read more

Let me start by saying that GD's tile and pool plaster did an amazing job replastering our pool and spa. We bought our house a year ago and the pool and spa left much to be desired. After calling GD's, Danny came out right away to give us a quote. We ended up going with new tile, new white plaster, new LED color changing light, new variable speed pump, and new spa heater. I had multiple quotes done and other companies tried charging us way more for unnecessary work. GD's crew was amazing and worked super fast. Danny kept me updated via text messages every step of the way. The only thing that changed from our original quote was that electrical needed to be updated, our house was built in '71 so I was not surprised. They updated the pools electrical box and added GFCI circuit breakers at a super reasonable cost. All work was done in house by their employees and there were never any delays. GD's was able to start our job right away when other places couldn't start for months out. We feel very fortunate to have found these amazing guys. Gd pool tile did a great job replacing the 20+ year old tile on my pool and spa. Thier price was very reasonable compared to the other bids I received. There was a small problem with a small section of grout and Gustovo the owner came out to take care of it personally. It's rare to see this today in any home repair project. Honestly way to many disasters to list. The highlights are: quoted a price after inspection for replacing tile, jets, and pool edge. After job was done was told cannot do jets too expensive to replace. I asked if that meant it was going to be less expensive? Short version of long conversation is pay us in full or we will see you in court. 2 years later pool is cracking and peeling. Edge of pool is doing the same. I will NEVER USE THESE GUYS AGAIN. I am not trying slander the company but in response to the owner's comment.... I do admit they attempted to contact me for warranty work. But if you threatened me with a lawsuit and didn't honor the original work order, why would I expect or be interested in more of your substandard work again? This is a real job and you really, really messed it up. All businesses have bad jobs. I will gladly take the time to keep adding all the little things (like it taking exactly 3 times longer than your quote stated, And it was always someone else's fault) that happened as well, but I didn't feel the need to get that dramatic. You have already spent more time on this review than on the quality control of the job I hired you to do. Once more, I will never have you work for me again, so you can continue to offer whatever you want and the answer is no. I guess the point is, you don't treat your customers this way... EVER. I had the same problem as the last person who wrote a review they came out and charged me $5000 to replaster my pool told me what to chemicals to use to treat it I have done the same chemicals I've always done for the last 12 years nothing different I take very good care of my pool with routine and normal maintenance. After using this company to replaster my pool to Tahoe blue my pool looks like crap!!! and continues to deteriorate every single week!!!! I called The company for years trying to get someone to look at it and address it each time I was told they would take care of it finally after numerous texts Gustavo Finally decides to come out and take a look at it hoping that he would work with me and agree that it is a bad job Like one of his workers did an offer to replaster it or acid wash it for me next week I guess Gustavo didn't like that so of course when he came out he disagreed and went on to tell me it was my fault????? "Worst customer service we have ever experienced". We had a resurface and color done on our pool and were given a list of things to perform at initial pool start up which we did along with help from our pool supply store as to chemical checks and procedures. After 1 + month pool color started to streak and holding water quality procedures became impossible. G.D. pool was contacted Daniel the manager came out and we were told the owner Gustavo would contact us, that was 3 attempts without follow up by him to this day. ( Daniel is a very professional and friendly person to deal with) Advise as to our problem from other pool professionals is the possibility of color and or plaster is breaking down and causing this problem. Was visiting Mother and need to get pool fixed before we left - we called several pool resurfacing places - GD was the only one to call us back. He was over for an inspection within a half hour. Clean and very professional, he introduced himself to Mother. He knew just what we needed and gave us a price and a contract to inspect. No sales pressure at all. He said I can start as soon as you like. We discussed and called him back to start - 7AM the next day his workers were pumping the pool. Gustavo stopped by to tell us in detail how the job would progress. We went over a few options - Color, Finish and the like - again no sales pressure. He and his crew were quiet, respectful to my Mother and her questions, showed up when they said, cleaned up at end of each day, and finished exactly on time. Very happy with our new sparkling pool. This company did an outstanding job on my pool re-plaster/tile. I got estimates from several different companies and found that a lot of people in this industry are "flakes". I saw GD's ratings on Yelp and decided to give them a call. The owner (Gustavo) had a guy at my house the next day and they gave me an estimate that was cheaper than anyone else by far. I gave them the job and within a week, my pool was done. It turned out great. I am very pleased with the results. They even did the plaster job on Thanksgiving day. I HIGHLY recommend this company. They are there when they say they will be there and do quality work. What else can you ask for. I attribute finding this company from Yelp. I have had great luck using Yelp as a source. I am very happy with the job that GD's did with my pool replaster. It looks awesome. I got two other quotes from a couple of the big local companies, and GD's was $1,000-$1,500 lower than they were. One thing that I really liked was that I was able to deal directly with Gustavo, the owner. The other two quotes it was just your typical sales rep. The other companies turned me off because they seemed to look at this job as just a way of selling me something else; Gustavo just stuck to what I wanted. Gustavo explained up front everything that they would be doing, and what the schedule would be. The crews were out right when he said they would be, and they finished on time. And each crew had at least one person who spoke English, so I was able to ask questions and they could tell me what they were doing. The other thing that I appreciated was the clean-up that they did. This is obviously a messy job, but they left everything very clean each day, not just at the end of the job. They even took the time to rinse out my dog's water dish that was sitting on the patio. Overall, I would very much recommend Gustavo and GD's. They did a great job, kept it clean, were easy to work with and definitely have the best price. read more
