What a delicious hole in the wall! The combination of Polish and Greek was intriguing enough to send us into this restaurant. The walls are covered in old paintings and plates leading you to feel right at home. We got the Kielbasa special: some of the best sauerkraut I've ever eaten. The pierogies however were not consistently cooked. Mine were pan fried almost and my fiancees were boiled. They weren't the fillings we asked for either. My fiancé got the pierogies entree and the same as above. However even with the wrong filling and inconsistent cooking, they were delicious!! The waitress recommended two great wines. My reason for four stars and not five is that 1. They were out of dishes. We wanted Pyzy and it was out. They specialize in waffles and they were out. It seems like waffle batter is something that can be made on the spot but I'm not sure if there's a different type of batter. 2. We felt very rushed. The waitress handed the check without us even saying we were done. It grinds my gears when people do that, was not a fan. In terms of COVID safety, tables are 4-5 feet apart indoors and staff wear masks until they're about six feet away from you and then it's back to chin diapers. But hey. At least they're distanced. Not sure I'd go back but it was a great one time Experience. read more

This is some of the best food I've had in St. Augustine after coming here for about 10 years. This place is tucked away and not in a super busy area, but a must try downtown. Service is extremely nice. read more

This was nothing special to be honest. The two people working there were nice but my friend and I waited awhile to be seated while there were a few open tables that still needed to be cleaned off, then we waited probably 15 mins to get menus. The food was fine but it was nothing awesome for the price. Overall it was okay but you'd think in such a heavy tourist area the service would be top notch. read more

We met another couple here for lunch and had a fantastic meal. We met another couple and all ordered different meals. Between us, we had pierogis, gyro, kielbasa and stuffed peppers. The service was prompt and pleasant; the meals served hot and tasted wonderful. And surprisingly the price very reasonable for St. Augustine. The restaurant also happens to be in my favorite section of St. Augustine. It is located south of King Street away from the touristy section where you really feel you are experiencing what St. Augustine was like decades ago. As we live in St. Augustine, we prefer to avoid all but a few restaurants off St. George Street where we feel higher prices are charged more for the location rather than the quality of the food. And we love that this is a small non-chain restaurant that feels family run. read more

Tammy and I were hungry after getting settled in our B&B. So, I said:"let's go somewhere off the beaten path, somewhere we have never dined before. This little place was one or two blocks from our B&B. We had a wonder lunch($16.00)kielbasa, sauerkraut and some wonderful bread. We had coffee after our meal. This was the best coffee I have ver had in my entire life! I asked the waitress about the coffee and she said a lady owns a coffee shop close by, brings them fresh coffee each week. I did not get the Coffee lady's name or her business name, I wish I had. read more

Came here on a Sunday brunch tour with The Tasting Tours company. This was our 3rd stop. We were given samples of their pierogies and waffles. Since we were getting pretty full up to this point in the tour, we had asked to split the portions we were originally supposed to be given. We got to try the classic pierogi filled with potato and another filled with sauerkraut and mushrooms. Both were amazing and served with a dollop of sour cream on the side. Next came out a plain waffle topped with homemade whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate. The waffle was the best waffle I've ever had. We were told it is made with seltzer water which gave it this light and fluffy texture but still had a thin crisp layer to it. I will be dreaming of this waffle until I have it again. I would return to St. Augustine again just for this. read more

We had a recommendation to go to Gaufre's for a while so we finally made it down to St. Augustine. It was definitely "Florida Freezing" that night so we were looking forward to some hot soup. Gaufre's did not disappoint! I'm not always keen on souls at restaurants because they tend to over-salt them to give it flavor, but my lentil soup was among the best I've ever had. Nice and hearty and well seasoned, they let the natural spices ease through and served a piping hot cup of delightful soup. My wife got the borscht which was very well done. It's a unique flavor so if beets aren't your thing maybe look at another option.... For our entree we chose to split a few things to try them out. We split some pierogis (the potato's day cheese and sauerkraut & mushrooms) and the fried feta cheese special. I forget the name of the special, but it was delicious! It's very rich in flavor so I would definitely recommend splitting it with at least one other person, maybe two or three! For dessert, my wife took home one of the daily specials that looked like baklava, but without the honey and more of a lemon cream. I was too stuffed to get dessert. So I went thinking I was going to get the waffles which is the signature dish for dessert but there was no way... so next time I'm going straight to it, no messing around. The location is really quaint on a cobblestone side street as the setting inside is great during sunset as the colors of the interior react with the sun. We got there just before 6:00 PM and beat several groups that cane in afterwards. It can fill up rather quickly! The wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful and patient! We will definitely be back!! read more

Called to see if open. Finally they answered phone..women on the phone said open till 5. We got there at 4:25 she would not serve us cause they close at 5. There sign on doors say closed at 5:30. There website says different also. Not worth the hassle! read more

Stumbled upon Gaufre's walking around downtown and figured we'd give it a try. SO GLAD we did. The food is so authentic, tasted just like my mom & grandmother's. The pierogis, sauerkraut, and kielbasa were so good. We'll definitely be going back to sample more of the menu. read more

I'd come again, but only at off hours: they weren't able to handle the traffic at 5-something PM on a Saturday during nights of lights. I'd try three of the four dishes I had again. The coconut soup had me lapping down the last drop (finishing my companion's cup). The previous time I'd tried it I'd found it a bit too spicy, so I'm not sure how much I'd like it if I had more of it. I liked the pierogies as well. We got them sauteed with onions and bacon (each of those three things costs extra), and that's the way I'd get them again. We liked all of the flavors except the sauerkraut and mushroom. I also liked our Napoleon-like pastry for dessert. The seasonal-special goulash was pleasant, but nothing special and I wouldn't repeat it. A previous time I'd come here I'd loved the gaufres (waffles). I got them with banana, nutella, vanilla ice cream, and some syrup, and, from memory, may have like them even more than the pastry this time. The setting was weak: too-small chairs and cold when the doors opened were my biggest complaints. read more

Waited for a table for 6 at lunch. Very rude waitress seemed to intentionally not hurry to bus the open table and seat us. We are locals and like the food, but will not return due to extremely rude and slow service. When confronted about her attitude she basically didn't give a d$&m. Hope the owner reads this and provides some training for her help! read more

I had never been to a place that serves polish food, so the Greek food did the heavy lifting in our order. This quaint little restaurant was tucked next to a local art Gallery in the lovely St Augustine downtown. The indoor seating was very homey but the outdoor alley dining was quintessential European dining experience (fortunately it was a breezy 70 degree day in late Nov). Service wise, I was underwhelmed. Not to generalize, but when comparing the warmth of Mediterranean culture to the no-nonsense style of Eastern Europe ...it was clear which culture dominated the wait staff. I had low expectations when I ordered one of the few vegetarian dishes, but it over delivered with flavor and portion (Briam). A bit on the oily side (them Greeks love their olive oil!) I had never had feta pie, but it was just the right amount of moisture/dryness ratio with flaky philo dough. The soup was nice as well. Bottom line: were it not for the setting and outdoor dining, I may have not taken the time to review. Also, probably won't go back (not very vegetarian friendly) read more

This place is amazing - we were biking around town and paused near the restaurant because the outside seating looked enjoyable and thankfully a local couple saw us and said, "If you like pierogis you've got to eat here!" The goulash was amazing, a great soup to start with. We had the potato and cheese and meat pierogis sauteed with bacon and onions and the gyro - they were delicious. Perfectly cooked and the gyro was unlike any one we've ever had. We finished with German coffee and a heavenly cheesecake baklava dessert. It was far and beyond the best meal we had in St. Augustine - or anywhere in Florida for a long time. It was authentic, nice location, attentive waitstaff, and the owners were out and about to say hello. We will be back anytime we are in town! read more

Since I'm a native of Saint Augustine and was unfamiliar of this wonderful place, I almost wanted to smack my hand. How could I have missed this cute little gem right off of Aviles st. I was introduced to this location through the tasting tours. They just recently started their kielbasa special which I had to come in and try the full serving for myself. I personally enjoyed their sauerkraut and the pierogies so much. I enjoyed such a quiet and personable experience in this restaurant. Their authenticity of traditional Polish and Greek foods was to die for. It's not in the tourist strip of Saint Augustine so you're able to enjoy delicious food in a stress-free atmosphere. They also have coffee and dessert options that look so delicious. Can't wait to come back even just for some time to myself to try their selection. read more

Greek food, Polish food, and Belgian waffles? Why not? It seems an unlikely combination of cuisines, but since I love them all it was a delightful surprise to find this place on Yelp. A group of us shared some Greek appetizers of feta, kalamata olives, tapenade, pita, tzatziki, and stuffed grape leaves. Then we all chose Polish entrees. The bigos is different from others I've had but was delicious in its own way. The dates, prunes, and raisins gave it a sweetness that wasn't overpowering and paired well with the fermented cabbage base. The gołabki was HUGE, with a rich tomato sauce. Pierogi were pretty good. And with a name like Gaufre's, we had to try the Belgian waffles. They were just fine. How can you dislike anything topped with nutella?! It's a quirky combo, but I'm so glad we found this place on our visit to St. Augustine. Recommended. read more

Absolutely love this place! I was tickled to have had the owner's daughter wait on us today!! First of all if you come to St. Augustine for any reason you must make time to stop by this eatery. The coconut soup is a must!! It sells out if you get there too late. The borscht soup is also absolutely delish Both are clearly not only made from scratch but are made with love! They bring warm fresh bread to your table that is a perfect accompaniment to the soup. Next up...the pierogies!! (Insert drool here) They are all absolutely delicious! I always get sauteed in butter onions and bacon!! The potatoe and cheese and the spinach are my top 2 picks. The pierogies always come with sour cream. The hummus is always a good choice for a quick snack! Oh and the waffles!!! Mind blown!! Light, crispy, tender, flavorful and so memorable!! You can have them so many ways too!! Just wanna cup a joe? No problem...these folks make some hecka good coffee!! If you are a fan of the vino; somehow they manage to keep an impressive variety in house and the prices are great!! Dining alfresco is your thing? No problem sit in one of the 3 outdoor tables. Go get yourself some Gaufres and Goods!! Eat through the menu and have some fun! The place was full of customers and had a table open. There was no one in line waiting and when we walked in the girl didn't say hi...she said we're not taking any more customers...it wasn't even 7 p.m. and their advertised hours are until 9. They need to realize people actually drive to go out to eat and not everyone is a tourist in this town. Way to treat people who actually live in this town and pay $$$ to eat out!! read more

Really great food and terrific service. We enjoyed a sampler appetizer, pirogies, and a tomato stuffed with meat and rice surrounded by loads of perfectly cooked veggies. Tucked away over on Charlotte St off of the square. It reported to serve Polish & Greek food. We popped in for lunch last week and really enjoyed it.. Great little cafe feel..with some outside seating.. Our waitress was sweet and attentive (... and spoke Polish!) We indulged in some homemade pierogies.. which were fresh, light and yummy.. Then grabbed up a spinach pie & cheese pie .. both were awesome.. And since it was a Fri holiday.. we had baklava for dessert.. regular & chocolate. The menu looks fantastic..and indeed has Polish & Greek specialties.. I can't wait to get back there to try a bit more.. Check it out! read more

Hard to say which was better...the wonderful service or the great food. If my mother made pierogis I would say these were as good as mother used to make. Loved the kielbasa and sauerkraut and the gyro was excellent. Baklava was great too! Don't miss this hidden gem. read more

We didn't want to go home just yet so I quickly googled some dessert spots open late. We parked nearby and walked to Peace Pie which was so close to the main square where Nights of Lights is during the holidays (noted). There it was, a bright and colorful storefront situated amongst a group of aromatic formal dining restaurants. It just so happened to be buy-one-get-one night, which is only on Tuesdays! I got the cookies and cream, my friend got the praline flavor and they were both absolutely delicious! I loved how the ice cream had lots of mix-ins and was frozen hard enough to not melt in our hands immediately. They serve the sandwiches in a lined paper wrap so even if things do get melty, it was easy to stay neat. We made a new friend in Stephanie who was (wo)manning the counter that night. She gave us great flavor recommendations and some ideas on what we can do during our next trip to St. Aug! Found a new favorite! Check out Peace Pie!!

There are an assortment of chocolates, brownies, cookies, some candies, croissants...and a variety of cakes and pies. We are not huge sweets eaters but this place is hard to resist.
