Today I visited this place with my family for mother's day and was treated like scum by a belligerent aggressive staff member when I refused to pay the mandatory 20% tip which was not at par with the service we received. The service was ATROCIOUS! We sat down no meat plates after asking twice and returning from salad bar. No ice in cups after asking repeatedly. Brought desert no spoons or forks, are we to eat with our hands? Asked for spoons the guy brought huge soup spoons my little one could barely use. Ordered 2 sparkling waters, they said they ran out of the big bottles, so instead would bring 4 smaller, we only saw 3! And the best part a full on verbal nasty argument in front of my family by this brute manager (don't have name but some tall latino guy) because I refused to pay this $100 forced tip! I still left a $50 tip but the behavior by the staff was unacceptable. I used to be a regular customer who used to visit this place almost monthly dropping $400-$600 per visit. Well NO MORE! I was with a party over the weekend and the servers will act nice to you just to get a tip when in reality they give you dirty looks when you take "too long" to eat or leave the restaurant. One of the managers in particular doesn't seem to know what he is doing, they added a %20 tip on our bill without telling us !!!! He got aggressive very quickly about it when I asked about it. I've been to several churrascarias and this one takes the cake. Took my best friend and just the ambiance from walking in was wonderful. Dimly lit, with little lights at the table and music in the background make it the perfect spot for a date night, girls night, or just any reason. The salad bar was plentiful in warm and cold items. Fresh, delicious, and a whole pile of bacon. Everything there from the eggplant to the shrimp to the plantains was scrumptious. Did I mention they have bacon slices??? As for the meat selections, it's varied from shrimp to lamb chops and everything in between. There's grilled pineapple with cinnamon and grilled cheese drizzled with honey. Perfect accompaniments to the meat. The beef rib was sooooo tender. By far, it was my fave. The pan de queso is to die far. This restaurant had so many selections and that's what impressed me most. First off, we have a lot of experience with Brazilian churrascarias as my wife is Brazilian. We knew the price for this one was as high as the highest in Houston, so we had high expectations. Here is what we found: Food: Meat was hit or miss. Steak cuts were good, but the salmon had no flavor, the sausage was too salty, and the chicken was greasy. A lot of it didn't seem to be cooked over a grill. Also, chicken hearts (a true Brazilian delicacy) weren't available even on request. Also, unlike Chama Gaucha and some of the best in Houston, beans and plantains are not served at the table. Plantains are available but only at the salad bar, and black beans were served on request but watery. The "Brazilian Rice" at the salad bar was actually Mexican Rice. Service was pretty good...cordial, but not friendly. The manager came by once to check on everyone and ask if things were good...yes....but a good replacement question should be "can we do anything better?" read more

Came to celebrate a birthday on a Monday night and the place was about 90% empty. I brought a Bundt cake in not knowing that they charge to eat a cake brought in. On a 628$ check, this place has the audacity to charge 30$ to let you eat a cake you brought in. I can understand if they were busy and people were waiting for tables but in a practically empty restaurant. Absolutely do not recommend this place for any type of celebration! They are overpriced at 68$ per person anyway but location close to Katy made it convenient. Next time will make the drive to Houston for our regular Brazilian steakhouse. Also do not recommend this place for smaller kids! My six year old ate literally some of one chicken leg, a slice of pineapple and a few pieces of watermelon for 29$. Then I noticed on the check was a charge for 6$ Brazilian lemonade when I asked for a kids lemonade. If you don't have a kids option, it is the waiters responsibility to let me know that! Way overpriced!!! Horrible meat way under cooked or over cooked no flavor at all had to ask for salt and pepper didn't even eat a second round honestly didn't even touch the first round .. My friends and I watched "Gauchos Do Sul" Brazilian steakhouse being built on Grand Parkway in Katy and about a month after it opened the six of us paid a visit. We are all long-time fans of Fogo de Chao and could not help but compare Gauchos to Fogo. It is an unfair comparison because Fogo was founded around fifty years ago in Brazil and is now the pinnacle of what a Brazilian steakhouse should be. Unfortunately, Fogo's nearest location is a great distance from our homes in Katy, which makes Gauchos ideal for us! The Gaucho staff is excellent. Enthusiastic and friendly. One innovation is a laminated list of available cuts of meat available. On the downside: Their Caipirinha is served in tall narrow glasses filled with ice that causes the drink to be diluted. Traditionally, Caipirinha is rimmed in cane sugar, but not at Gauchos. Sugar should be a customer option as salt is with a margarita. The salad bar is OK but fails due to a lack of dressing. There were only two, both unlabeled, Ranch and what I thought was Caesars but proved to be way too vinegary. They need Blue Cheese and others to enhance the salad bar. The small bite sized popovers Fogo is famous for are served. At Fogo they are light, slightly doughy and addictive. At Gauchos they are closer to small cake like biscuits. There are insufficient condiments, lamb chops and leg of lamb are available, but no mint jelly or sauce. The Chimichurri is dry and largely tasteless. It should have a strong taste and be semi-liquid. An assortment of meat related condiments, like hot horse radish, would vastly improve the Gaucho's experience. Bottom line, we want Gaucho's to succeed. Several of our group expressed no interest in trying it again, but we convinced them to try again instead of making the trek to Fogo again. read more

If there was a half a star I would give it a half a star. The service was horrible, the food tasted like they over seasoned it with adobo and garlic and then over cooked it. We sat there waiting never received sides when we did they were cold. The only good thing is the bread. Not worth paying $70 a person for bread. Amazing! Some of the best food from the salad bar, to the main deal of the meat, everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was super attentive, for some reason my husband dropped his napkin not once, but three times and everytime they noticed before he did and got him a new napkin without having to be asked. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, with a great music selection that is at the right level to be background noise rather than overbearing.
