Thursday Night is Trivia Night, and it is super fun. The place itself is good, a normal Gators restaurant. There is nothing that sets this place about with the other locations. They do serve gator, so if that's your thing, you should order it and enjoy. The staff are very friendly, and nice. They are good at keeping your drinks full, and asking if you need anything. If you are in town, you should hit this place up on Thursday, enjoy some trivia and some good food. read more

So... this is what it is. It is Bar food. The service was good- friendly and attentive. The server even hooked me up with extra Heath bar crumbles for my to-go dessert! The 2 for 1 Yuengling special surely brightened my evening. The nachos were decent (I would add some kind of protein to them If you go with these). The boneless wings were VERY good. This would have gotten 5 stars but it's a combo rating from two different visits within a two-week span. The first visit was at the very beginning of the opening up of restaurants in Florida the service was excellent our waitress was phenomenal we split the gyro salad, which I highly recommend, and ordered extra crispy wings. Our waitress said it was a 25 minute order so she recommended that she bring out the salad and as we finish that up our wings will be ready, perfect! The food was great wings were extra crispy as requested. The second visit we weren't as lucky it was more crowded but still social distancing so not packed our waitress was less attentive and my sister and I ordered the same thing but we never got the 25 minute spiel. She brought the salad and the wings out together and if I didn't know better and I thought this was how gators did extra crispy I would not return. My sister asked if they could be made crispier and the waitress said sure she takes them away they put them on the grill for a second and she brings the wings right back and says "here you go." If marked by a grill equals extra crispy than Gators knows something I don't. I highly recommend as they usually have great wings.! read more

It's Sunday, June 12th at 12:30pm. First let me say....there was hardly anyone in the restaurant and there was the hostess and three others standing behind her. I had just got an iced coffee from somewhere else so I had it in my hand. It was about halfway full. Walked in and asked for a table of three (me, my husband, and son). She said that they can't seat customers who have outside drinks with them. While I understand that you do not want outside drinks or food being brought in....you DO NOT serve coffee. And I was almost finished with it. So...let me get this straight...you'd rather lose out on a $60-$80 bill than seat someone with a coffee? When let me say again - no one was in the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. That's very sad. Funny....a couple weeks ago when we were in the Villages...we walked into that Gators Dockside and hardly no one was in the restaurant but Cody's across the street was packed. Maybe Gators Dockside needs to take this as a sign. All is good though - we left and went down to Red Robin and had a delicious meal and everyone was as nice as ever. A rare lunch date with my squeeze (wife) found us at Gator's Dockside Ocala. While the hostess seemed to be a little overly stiff, Skyler was quick to take our drink and lunch order. Lucky for us, we were entertained by a real American knuckle-dragger and his toothless mother, espousing his completely uninformed, narrow-minded world views that caused more than a few eye-rolls shared between my wife and I. The salad was a touch small but the gyro was tasty. Skyler was prompt with everything and he offered to-go drinks. It's been awhile. We stopped in for a nice lunch after picking up my wife's Mom off a shuttle from the airport. We had a range of items: Caesar salad, wings, gyro, chicken sandwich and onion petals. First of all this place is in the back of a parking lot not near any water unless you count the puddles in the parking lot or the back of whatever shopper center it's in. It's a maze to get to this place so If anybody gets overserved they will be driving in the parking lot until the sun comes up, LOL. Wings were OK and the atmosphere was drab Considering it was a playoff weekend for NFL. Have eaten at this location for years. It used to be the best wings in town and the last two times weren't great. The "grilled" wings weren't grilled as requested and the large basket of fries were room temp. Wife's boneless wings weren't any better. C'mon guys, get your stuff together!! read more

We have been eating at Gator's Dockside in Ocala for many years because ALL the staff is the best, they serve delicious food later than other places and the restaurant is always clean. When we do get Craig as our server, he is always friendly and makes our day with his fun personality and attentive service! The food (especially the wings and fried mushrooms ) are the best and two of our favorites but several other dishes are always good. Also you can't beat the BOGO drinks all day, every day! read more

We also got the big pretzel for an appetizer with beer cheese and the mustard and it was huge! When they say big it's an under exaggeration it was bigger than my husband's head! I love this place. This location is the best Gator's Dockside that I've been too. The service is always excellent. Their daily specials include: Kids eat free in Tuesday, all you can eat boneless wings, and all you can eat traditional wings. They also have trivia on Thursday's. Terrible. Run. Go anywhere else. Thick disgusting breading. Really bad. How this place got any decent review is crazy.

So we called ahead and asked if they could put two tables together to make sure it was possible before we got there. We got there a bit early to avoid a lot of people, we went a little earlier than dinner time. The place was just about empty. Even better for us we thought. Well walking inside we see at least 3 sets of double tables for larger groups(which are currently empty) so we figured that with that and the person on the phone saying it was possible that putting 2 together outside wouldn't be an issue. Well after the waitress or hostess I'm not sure which walked outside she expressed how hot it was. Well we still preferred to sit outside and this is what it looked like. Empty, completely empty and they told us we couldn't have 2 tables together because of COVID....clearly there is enough space to remain 6 feet apart from everyone else and INSIDE HAD DOUBLE TABLES! Well we asked to see a manager, and rather than getting a manager we ended up with someone who pretended to be one and claimed we couldn't put tables together due to COVID yet inside had at least 3 double tables. Poor service, poor people skills, pathetic. The food wasn't worth the trip out there simply because they didn't care about helping us they just wanted us inside because it was hot. What is the point in having an open outside if you're not going to let people enjoy it. I don't see us returning in the future. read more

When I went down to Ocala recently to visit my parents I went out with the crazy retired crown and we hit up Gators...a Pretty cool sports bar. We kept it simple since we didn't want to make the young crowd feel like they couldn't hang! We ordered some wings (Hot Teriyaki, Sweet Thai Chili, Traditional, and Parmesan Garlic), gator tail, and we all got burgers (black and blue for me) Burger was good, but a little overdone for my liking. The wings were also pretty good..I wanted to try the spicier wings but the possibility of nighttime heartburn for the rest of the crowd got that a big NO. So the waitress brought me over a taster and I tried it with my fries. Not bad...nice heat, nice flavor. The beers were cold on a hot day...so we had THAT going for us! Overall I thought the food and the drinks were a little pricey, but when you have a bunch of retired women paying for you I guess it didn't matter! I'd go back if I was down visiting and wanted to see a big game. Probably a lot more fun later at night than early dinner. read more

I also had the summer salad which was fresh and full of yummy surprises. Luckily, I asked for the dressing on the side. The salad comes with so many sweet additions (raisins, canned mandarin slices and more) that just a tiny amount of the strawberry vinegrette was enough. So, the food was so-so. We were visiting my family from out of town and have our 1 year old Siberian Husky with us. As I normally do, I called ahead to ensure that the establishment was "pet friendly". When we arrived, I asked for water for our pet and was informed that they would not provide a bowl or water for us. I asked for a to-go container instead, and was met by the manager to inform me that they would not "ask us to leave" but that he would not provide us water. I informed the manager that if this is not a pet friendly establishment he should speak with his staff to educate them on the matter as that is not what was relayed to us. I returned to our car with our bowl and poured water from my cup into his bowl since they would not provide it for us. The food itself was average, nothing better than you would expect to find at a sports bar. The service was also average, and we did not fault the wait staff for the interaction with the manager.
