We were in Atmore for a wedding and stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very attentive. She kept refilling my iced tea which was great because I was in dire need of caffeine! The food is reasonably priced and the portions are large. My friend ordered a burger that was as big as his face and had to pick at it with a fork before being able to try to pick it up with his hands. My Ceasar salad had homemade croutons and dressing. Their french fries were just okay--I'm a fan of smaller, crispier fries and they were large and soft. Really, the fries were the only thing lacking with all the food that we ordered, and it's simply due to my personal preference. We got the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and the balsamic honey added a unique flavor that I have not had anywhere else. The atmosphere is nice and it's cutely decorated with some rustic-type stuff, including an old phone booth! We enjoyed our meal and would eat here again if life should ever put us back in Atmore. read more

We have eaten at Gather a couple of times, and it is well worth the hour long drive from our home to Atmore. Both the service and the food have been phenomenal! We've had the shipwreck, the trainwreck, shrimp and grits, and the tournedos, and we recommend them all! Our server last night, Lauren, overheard us say we were celebrating our son's birthday, and when his dessert (pecan pie cheesecake) arrived, it had a birthday candle! You truly cannot go wrong with any of their desserts, although I think the chocolate butter cake is the most delicious one. For an appetizer, the steak fries are out of this world! The food was great and the service too...for the most part. We ordered an appetizer of baked feta with olive tapenade. It was delicious. We probably ate half of it and planned to take the other half home, but while we were talking, someone took the plate and we did not get to bring it home. I think they should have offered us a small order to take when they found out...but they didn't. There were two of use with a check of $161...that's not pocket change. The restaurant is nice looking but for the prices and upscale menu, you'd think they could water their plants outside and give clean fresh menus, rather than the paper ones that clearly had been used many times. Small details, but important to the impression made. BTW, we were not offered warm bread with butter as the other reviewers referenced. Upon moving here to Atmore, this place is all anyone has talked about. Sadly my experience was so poor it's unlikely I would bother again for the price. My appetizer, Crab imperial, with spinach and artichoke was really, just spinach and artichoke dip available at any Fridays or chain restaurant in the US, with some crab flavor, and over oiled pita chips. I tried an oyster from their oyster appetizer and was greeted with a shell portion, which lodged firmly in my gums. After the glob of poorly adhered cheese clumped off. My entree a Ribeye, initially was presented so charred on the edges it disintegrated into ash simply with the touch of my fork, whilst the medium requested interior was in fact nearly well done. Clearly having been fired too soon for the mid size party order. I requested a new and properly cooked piece of meat...a new steak was presented to me in less than 4 minutes ( a bad sign for any piece of meet over 10 oz), again with heavily charred edges and smothered in butter to cover what i can only assume was pan charring (which is fine if the meat is cooked properly). The interior, thickest portion of my medium requested cut was raw (not rare...raw) whilst the edges again were basically naught more than pieces of carbonized charcoal. I attempted to oblige the server in accepting this entree, but upon cutting and eating a piece, found both hard char and raw bits in my bite, leading to an unpleasant texture and taste that would haunt the rest of my evening. Along with my order i requested brussel sprouts, which were not actually brought to the table because they were forgotten. These would be presented to me "to go" as a placation to the poorly cooked meal, however were so covered in sugar syrup they leaked sticky slop all over my shirt and hands, so sugary and sticky that you could in the dark of the parking lot still see the surgar glisten on my hands, which were sticking to everything i touched. I gave these away. Notably the mozzarella appetizer was just hard breaded rounds of mozzarella cheese that can be bought in most fast food, and even freezer aisles at the grocer. When using words like "gastrique" and charging $40.00 for an entree,.I expect more, better attention to quality and detail. I do not expect to be duped by fancy words on a menu while presented with a poorly crafted and badly cooked meal. I'm patient and happy enough to wait whatever necessary time to properly prepare a meal that in large part will cost around 100.00 a person, counting drinks, appetizers, and desserts. I am equally happy driving out of my way for an actual enjoyable experience rather than that which I was presented with. For the record I paid for the mediocre appetizer I ate, and the Old Atmore sour I drank. I did not shirk the server, she was polite and did her best and was tipped well for it. Unfortunately the "fancy sounding" food on the menu, simply wasn't good. This restaurant has serious potential, but the execution of this patrons meal was simply poor. read more

Small yet perfect. For this restaurant I recommend getting a reservation, but I've been here twice without and sat in the bar area. The food is near perfection. The tables are too small, and it wobbled ! Wood table no table cloth ! We will get the the point , ordered there " special" pork chop . 30 min they bring it to the table (what a hunk of meat) looks ok , I cut right into the middle to see if it's cooked? It's raw , I mean blood raw, so I send it back 15 minutes and they bring it back , now it looks burnt black on the outside, it's still not cooked in the middle, they want to cook it more , you only get two try's . One of the people there comes over and says how did you order it , medium ( now this is pork not beef) Maybe I should order it well done ????? I don't know where anyone there learned to cook but pork and chicken get cooked all the way though ! They did take the pork chop off my bill , but did charge me for my wife's meal and our drinks ! I have eaten in some very high end restaurants and never would I have been charged for anything if they so blatantly messed up! My husband and I stopped at this restaurant on the way home from a road trip. The menu looked nice, but our expectations weren't very high because we were driving in the middle of "no where." To our delight, the restaurant did not disappoint!! We had drinks, appetizers, my husband ordered the Train Wreck.... Highly recommend, and the burger with pork belly was amazing. We ate here while escaping Hurricane Michael and it was just the oasis we needed. I had the steak and fries and it was great. The cheese sauce set this off perfectly and the steak was prepared nicely. My wife had their chicken, asparagus, and potatoes/goat cheese. Very tasty with the sauces. My kids made the claim that their burgers with the homemade buns quite might possibly be the best they've ever had. They make all their desserts in house and the red velvet cake was huge, the icing just right on sweetness, and the side of whip cream (again homemade) was light and perfect. Looking at the reviews, this place was right up my alley. When I walked in I was greeted and sat immediately. Check out the menu I waited and waited before I was asked if I wanna do anything to drink. I asked for tonic and lime. My server brought me a soda and lime fairly quickly. He was busy with the table next to me and was very jovial. When he came back I asked if they had tonic because this was soda and promptly took my glass to get me a new one. He came back and asked if I was ready to order. I told him I'd never been here before and asked what he had for suggestions. He didn't seem amused and rattled off a couple things but was not engaging. I ended up ordering the shrimp tacos in the chicken jambalaya. Somebody brought me my app and when I was finish the server took it away and never asked how it was. He did bring me my dinner, But once again never ask me how everything was. It was as though he was too busy for me. Finally when I was all done he came back and reset my drink and it was the 1st time he smiled at my table. The menu was full of interesting items and there was lots to choose from. I would have loved to learn more of the favorites etc. So let's talk about the food. The presentation was nice. My shrimp tacos for good. Nothing crazy to describe but they were solid. Can out the chicken jambalaya was unique. The chicken was Pieces of a whole bird that was crispy and tender, super juicy! It was delicious in perfectly prepared. Now the jambalaya was extremely salty. If you ate the chicken with the rice in the same bite the chicken help offset the salt. However, I couldn't finish the meal because of how salty it was. Overall, the food was good but the service was lacking. Disappointed by the service overall because there were other servers there with time on their hands to chat etc, so it wasn't that the place was packed and not properly staffed. read more

Wow, what an unexpected jewel! We just left and I feel compelled to write a review. We were heading south to the beach from Huntsville and started scoping out places to eat dinner and since there is usually not much to choose from on this stretch of 65 (other than fast food, Mexican, or BBQ) we were delighted to see something different pop up on yelp. Gather is a 7 mile detour south from the interstate but we decided to give it a try anyway and boy are we glad we did! My husband and I ordered a bunch of small plates and shared with our young kids who loved it (they are adventurous eaters thankfully--there is no kids menu). We ordered the shrimp tacos, hummus, pork skins, salad, and quail and everything was fresh, flavorful, and amazing. What a welcome departure from the average dinner stops we are used to on our journeys to the beach. Also, the service was exceptional (our waiter was Chris) and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. This will definitely be our go to stop for our southbound travels! read more

We walked in because online they were booked for days and they told us when a spot at the bar opens we could sit there.
